the_o lord_n work_v it_o in_o we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n alas_o without_o it_o we_o be_v in_o danger_n to_o grow_v the_o more_o obstinate_a and_o hard_a heart_a chapter_n read_v exod._n 7.8.9.10.11_o and_o 12._o chapter_n in_o this_o people_n therefore_o we_o may_v behold_v the_o image_n of_o man_n corrupt_a nature_n therein_o the_o better_a to_o take_v knowledge_n of_o our_o own_o in_o a_o good_a course_n be_v the_o only_a work_n of_o god_n whereupon_o follow_v a_o great_a consolation_n which_o yet_o we_o can_v not_o have_v nor_o faith_n neither_o if_o repentance_n be_v want_v for_o such_o as_o be_v not_o at_o odds_n with_o themselves_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o sin_n can_v never_o conceive_v aught_o but_o god_n wrath_n terror_n and_o despair_n we_o be_v careful_o to_o observe_v the_o order_n then_o which_o isaiah_n keep_v here_o for_o he_o do_v not_o rash_o add_v a_o consolation_n to_o the_o heal_n because_o such_o as_o recover_v their_o health_n do_v therewithal_o 19_o i_o create_v the_o fruit_n of_o the_o lip_n to_o be_v peace_n peace_n to_o they_o that_o be_v far_o of_o and_o to_o they_o that_o be_v near_o say_v the_o lord_n for_o i_o will_v heal_v he_o sentence_n a_o exposition_n of_o the_o former_a sentence_n this_o be_v the_o explication_n of_o the_o former_a sentence_n namely_o by_o what_o mean_v the_o lord_n will_v comfort_v this_o people_n to_o wit_n by_o promise_v and_o offer_v they_o peace_n for_o by_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o lip_n he_o signify_v that_o they_o shall_v hear_v such_o good_a news_n of_o peace_n as_o shall_v revive_v and_o rejoice_v their_o heart_n and_o as_o i_o take_v it_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o publish_n of_o that_o peace_n which_o be_v commit_v first_o to_o the_o prophet_n then_o to_o the_o apostle_n and_o other_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o saint_n paul_n teach_v 2._o cor._n 5.20_o we_o be_v ambassador_n for_o christ_n say_v he_o and_o do_v beseech_v man_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n the_o repetition_n of_o the_o word_n peace_n serve_v not_o only_o for_o the_o great_a confirmation_n but_o it_o also_o signify_v a_o continual_a progress_n of_o it_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v you_o hear_v nothing_o now_o but_o terrible_a threaten_n the_o doctrine_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n be_v as_o good_a as_o bury_v for_o you_o be_v uncapable_a of_o it_o your_o obstinacy_n be_v such_o that_o you_o must_v be_v thunder_v against_o with_o terror_n and_o menace_n but_o one_o day_n i_o will_v restore_v unto_o you_o the_o doctrine_n of_o peace_n and_o i_o will_v open_v the_o lip_n of_o my_o prophet_n which_o shall_v puplish_v the_o same_o in_o your_o ear_n to_o those_o that_o be_v far_o off_o this_o be_v add_v in_o regard_n the_o people_n who_o be_v carry_v away_o captive_a think_v that_o these_o thing_n appertain_v not_o unto_o they_o because_o they_o be_v far_o off_o but_o such_o as_o be_v leave_v in_o the_o country_n may_v happy_o enjoy_v this_o fruit_n for_o their_o exile_n be_v unto_o they_o as_o a_o kind_n of_o rejection_n but_o the_o prophet_n protest_v that_o even_o they_o shall_v taste_v of_o this_o grace_n though_o they_o be_v far_o remote_a last_o the_o effect_n be_v add_v namely_o that_o god_n will_v heal_v the_o people_n that_o be_v to_o say_v will_v keep_v they_o safe_a and_o sound_a hence_o we_o gather_v that_o which_o i_o touch_v but_o erewhile_o to_o wit_n that_o whatsoever_o appertain_v to_o the_o true_a and_o perfect_a felicity_n of_o the_o church_n be_v the_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n it_o seem_v saint_n paul_n have_v a_o eye_n to_o this_o place_n in_o eph._n 2.17_o where_o he_o say_v that_o christ_n have_v bring_v peace_n to_o those_o which_o be_v near_o and_o to_o those_o a_o far_o off_o now_o he_o speak_v of_o jew_n and_o gentile_n for_o the_o jew_n be_v near_o because_o god_n have_v make_v a_o covenant_n with_o they_o and_o the_o gentile_n be_v far_o off_o in_o regard_n they_o have_v no_o part_n in_o this_o covenant_n object_n but_o it_o seem_v our_o prophet_n speak_v only_o of_o the_o jew_n i_o answer_v that_o the_o apostle_n retain_v the_o prophet_n true_a meaning_n ans_fw-fr if_o all_o be_v well_o consider_v for_o the_o jew_n be_v say_v to_o be_v far_o off_o here_o because_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v banish_v out_o from_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n their_o condition_n be_v like_a to_o that_o of_o the_o gentile_n see_v then_o that_o during_o the_o time_n of_o their_o banishment_n there_o be_v no_o difference_n between_o they_o and_o the_o gentile_n saint_n paul_n have_v just_a cause_n to_o put_v they_o both_o in_o one_o rank_n and_o therefore_o make_v they_o pair_n and_o thus_o apply_v that_o to_o the_o gentile_n which_o our_o prophet_n have_v say_v touch_v the_o jew_n as_o in_o like_a manner_n he_o apply_v the_o place_n of_o hosea_n chap._n 1.10_o to_o the_o gentile_n rom._n 9.26_o verse_n 20._o but_o the_o wicked_a be_v like_o the_o rage_a sea_n that_o can_v rest_v who_o water_n cast_v up_o mire_n and_o dirt_n have_v speak_v of_o that_o peace_n which_o the_o faithful_a shall_v enjoy_v wicked_a a_o denunciation_n against_o the_o wicked_a he_o on_o the_o contrary_n denounce_v against_o the_o wicked_a continual_a war_n and_o perpetual_a trouble_n and_o garboil_n of_o conscience_n wherewith_o they_o shall_v be_v vex_v and_o the_o rather_o that_o the_o faithful_a for_o their_o part_n may_v the_o better_a prize_n this_o excellent_a benefit_n of_o peace_n as_o also_o that_o the_o wicked_a may_v know_v that_o this_o peace_n be_v so_o promise_v to_o god_n child_n that_o their_o condition_n shall_v no_o whit_n be_v better_v by_o it_o but_o in_o regard_n these_o do_v often_o vain_o and_o false_o pretend_v the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o glory_n in_o very_a fit_a to_o express_v the_o disquietness_n of_o the_o wicked_a for_o the_o sea_n trouble_v itself_o and_o be_v toss_v with_o hideous_a tempest_n though_o the_o wind_n be_v calm_a the_o wave_n justle_v one_o against_o another_o with_o great_a violence_n and_o break_v with_o a_o very_a terrible_a noise_n and_o so_o the_o wicked_a be_v vex_v with_o a_o secret_a worm_n which_o cleave_v fast_o to_o their_o conscience_n for_o they_o be_v in_o continual_a terror_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o gnaw_a and_o sting_n thereof_o which_o be_v a_o torment_n that_o surmount_v all_o the_o rest_n and_o the_o most_o cruel_a hangman_n that_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o whole_a world_n the_o fury_n of_o hell_n harry_z and_o pursue_v the_o wicked_a not_o with_o burn_a torch_n as_o the_o poet_n that_o the_o purgation_n of_o the_o church_n be_v wrought_v by_o the_o spirit_n second_o that_o the_o name_n be_v impose_v upon_o the_o spirit_n by_o the_o effect_n now_o of_o judgement_n now_o of_o burn_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v the_o judgement_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o burn_a of_o the_o spirit_n as_o oft_o then_o as_o these_o manner_n of_o speech_n be_v meet_v withal_o in_o the_o scripture_n to_o wit_n the_o lord_n will_v do_v these_o thing_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n power_n and_o righteousness_n etc._n etc._n we_o may_v turn_v this_o phrase_n of_o speech_n thus_o in_o truth_n in_o power_n and_o in_o righteousness_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n from_o who_o both_o the_o beginning_n and_o end_n of_o the_o work_n of_o our_o salvation_n come_v work_v thus_o in_o us._n from_o these_o epithet_n than_o we_o must_v observe_v what_o the_o principal_a effect_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o lord_n purge_v out_o our_o dross_n by_o his_o spirit_n that_o he_o may_v amend_v and_o reform_v us._n by_o the_o word_n judgement_n he_o show_v what_o the_o chief_a virtue_n be_v in_o the_o restauration_n of_o the_o church_n to_o wit_n when_o those_o good_a thing_n which_o be_v confuse_v &_o overthrow_v be_v restore_v and_o set_v in_o their_o right_a order_n again_o burn_v also_o show_v the_o manner_n and_o way_n which_o the_o lord_n use_v to_o restore_v the_o church_n to_o her_o first_o purity_n verse_n 5._o and_o the_o lord_n shall_v create_v upon_o every_o habitation_n every_o or_o habitation_n place_n of_o mount_n zion_n and_o upon_o the_o assembly_n thereof_o a_o cloud_n and_o smoke_n by_o day_n and_o the_o shine_a of_o a_o flame_a fire_n by_o night_n for_o upon_o all_o the_o glory_n shall_v be_v a_o defence_n 6._o and_o a_o cover_n shall_v be_v for_o a_o shadow_n in_o the_o day_n for_o the_o heat_n and_o a_o place_n of_o refuge_n and_o a_o covert_n for_o the_o storm_n and_o for_o the_o rain_n upon_o every_o habitation_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v there_o shall_v not_o be_v the_o least_o corner_n in_o the_o mountain_n of_o zion_n where_o the_o grace_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n shall_v not_o appear_v i_o take_v habitation_n and_o assembly_n for_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n for_o i_o take_v not_o assembly_n for_o congregation_n but_o for_o the_o place_n where_o man_n meet_v now_o to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v describe_v and_o set_v foâ—th_o a_o full_a blessing_n he_o allude_v to_o that_o which_o moses_n recite_v namely_o that_o when_o the_o lord_n will_v deliver_v his_o people_n from_o the_o bondage_n of_o egypt_n he_o send_v a_o pillar_n of_o a_o cloud_n by_o day_n and_o a_o pillar_n of_o a_o fire_n by_o night_n exod._n 13.21_o it_o be_v a_o usual_a thing_n with_o the_o prophet_n that_o when_o they_o will_v set_v forth_o any_o excellent_a benefit_n they_o then_o call_v to_o remembrance_n this_o most_o glorious_a work_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n the_o deliverance_n out_o of_o egypt_n because_o than_o do_v the_o lord_n wonderful_o display_v the_o infinite_a treasure_n of_o his_o grace_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v establish_v his_o church_n not_o omit_v in_o that_o work_n any_o testimony_n of_o his_o bounty_n and_o goodness_n that_o the_o felicity_n of_o his_o choose_a people_n may_v be_v famous_a throughout_o the_o whole_a world_n but_o above_o all_o thing_n this_o be_v most_o memorable_a that_o they_o shall_v be_v preserve_v by_o day_n by_o the_o cover_n of_o a_o cloud_n from_o the_o annoyance_n of_o too_o much_o heat_n and_o that_o the_o pillar_n of_o fire_n shall_v go_v before_o they_o in_o the_o night_n to_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v not_o wander_v or_o go_v astray_o the_o sum_n be_v this_o that_o when_o god_n will_v gather_v home_o his_o church_n from_o out_o of_o babylon_n that_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o less_o admirable_a then_o that_o by_o which_o the_o people_n be_v in_o time_n past_o deliver_v out_o of_o egypt_n not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v accompany_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o journey_n between_o babylon_n and_o judea_n with_o the_o cloud_n and_o the_o pillar_n of_o fire_n as_o in_o the_o wilderness_n but_o because_o he_o show_v testimony_n of_o his_o favour_n towards_o they_o by_o mean_v no_o way_n less_o excellent_a than_o they_o as_o if_o any_o shall_v say_v at_o this_o day_n the_o lord_n will_v illuminate_v we_o by_o the_o light_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n he_o will_v give_v cleave_v tongue_n by_o which_o his_o gospel_n shall_v be_v spread_v throughout_o the_o world_n no_o man_n will_v take_v this_o literal_o as_o if_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v be_v send_v down_o from_o heaven_n in_o a_o visible_a form_n but_o this_o miracle_n shall_v be_v remember_v only_o to_o the_o end_n the_o faithful_a may_v learn_v to_o rest_v at_o this_o day_n upon_o the_o same_o power_n of_o god_n in_o the_o restauration_n of_o the_o church_n as_o the_o apostle_n have_v experience_n of_o in_o their_o time_n and_o withal_o that_o by_o this_o manner_n of_o speech_n the_o prophet_n mention_v a_o continual_a succession_n of_o blessing_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v god_n will_v not_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o deliver_v you_o for_o a_o moment_n only_o but_o even_o as_o he_o have_v always_o assist_v our_o father_n in_o the_o desert_n so_o after_o he_o have_v deliver_v you_o he_o will_v defend_v you_o unto_o the_o end_n that_o which_o he_o add_v upon_o all_o glory_n depend_v upon_o that_o which_o he_o say_v before_o to_o wit_n that_o the_o bud_n which_o shall_v again_o sprout_v forth_o shall_v be_v glorious_a it_o be_v as_o much_o then_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v upon_o those_o which_o shall_v bear_v the_o sign_n and_o mark_n of_o their_o deliverance_n it_o may_v be_v also_o that_o he_o allude_v to_o that_o place_n of_o exodus_fw-la where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o house_n which_o the_o destroy_a angel_n have_v mark_v be_v not_o hurt_v exod._n 12.23_o for_o have_v mark_v they_o and_o this_o aught_o to_o be_v diligent_o observe_v for_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o we_o can_v otherwise_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n unless_o we_o bear_v his_o image_n and_o that_o his_o glory_n do_v shine_v in_o us._n and_o a_o cover_n etc._n etc._n although_o the_o prophet_n confirm_v that_o which_o we_o have_v touch_v already_o to_o wit_n that_o god_n will_v lead_v his_o choose_a perpetual_o until_o he_o have_v bring_v we_o to_o our_o wish_a end_n yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o the_o faithful_a shall_v be_v always_o subject_a to_o many_o trouble_n for_o heat_n and_o cold_a and_o other_o sharp_a evil_n then_o those_o do_v still_o fierce_o pursue_v they_o so_o as_o when_o they_o be_v deliver_v out_o of_o one_o danger_n they_o fall_v again_o into_o another_o but_o behold_v here_o a_o most_o sweet_a consolation_n to_o wit_n that_o against_o all_o storm_n the_o only_a shadow_n of_o the_o lord_n shall_v suffice_v we_o because_o by_o it_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o cover_v that_o nothing_o shall_v hurt_v we_o or_o bring_v we_o the_o least_o damage_n although_o then_o that_o diverse_a affliction_n and_o trouble_n do_v environ_v we_o on_o all_o side_n yet_o the_o lord_n promise_v that_o he_o will_v assist_v we_o as_o it_o be_v speak_v in_o the_o psalm_n the_o sun_n shall_v not_o smite_v thou_o by_o day_n nor_o the_o moon_n by_o night_n psalm_n 121.6_o for_o the_o lord_n shall_v preserve_v thy_o go_v out_o etc._n etc._n it_o only_o remain_v that_o we_o follow_v our_o vocation_n and_o discharge_v our_o duty_n faithful_o it_o befall_v alike_o to_o faithful_a and_o unfaithful_a to_o endure_v many_o trouble_n but_o the_o wicked_a have_v no_o refuge_n nor_o covert_n under_o which_o they_o may_v shroud_v themselves_o they_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v overwhelm_v but_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o faithful_a be_v bless_v for_o although_o they_o be_v cumber_v with_o heat_n and_o cold_a yet_o they_o have_v a_o sure_a refuge_n under_o the_o protection_n of_o god_n only_o let_v we_o be_v mindful_a that_o that_o glory_n whereof_o we_o speak_v before_o do_v shine_n in_o we_o otherwise_o these_o thing_n do_v nothing_o at_o all_o appertain_v unto_o us._n but_o if_o we_o bear_v the_o mark_n of_o god_n let_v we_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v be_v our_o help_n as_o oft_o as_o any_o the_o enterprise_n of_o his_o enemy_n to_o confusion_n and_o in_o deed_n unless_o the_o prophet_n have_v speedy_o prevent_v the_o matter_n this_o way_n many_o such_o doubt_n will_v have_v come_v into_o their_o mind_n verse_n 19_o and_o it_o shall_v be_v easy_a to_o number_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o tree_n of_o his_o forest_n for_o a_o little_a child_n shall_v tell_v they_o the_o hebrew_n phrase_n show_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o very_a small_a number_n leave_v and_o thus_o he_o only_o confirm_v the_o former_a sentence_n to_o wit_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o waste_n after_o the_o lord_n shall_v have_v bring_v the_o assyrian_n down_o that_o the_o residue_n shall_v be_v easy_o tell_v and_o yet_o he_o go_v on_o further_o in_o say_v there_o shall_v be_v so_o few_o that_o a_o little_a child_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o tell_v all_o that_o remain_v for_o we_o know_v that_o little_a child_n have_v much_o ado_n to_o count_v to_o three_o or_o four_o thus_o than_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o assyrian_n which_o in_o time_n past_o appear_v as_o a_o great_a forest_n the_o tree_n thereof_o be_v cut_v down_o and_o overthrow_v shall_v become_v like_a to_o a_o small_a difficult_a thing_n to_o be_v molest_v and_o afflict_a and_o that_o we_o flee_v it_o as_o much_o as_o possible_o we_o canâ—_n the_o lord_n show_v we_o the_o fruit_n of_o affliction_n that_o so_o be_v the_o best_a witness_n of_o his_o divine_a power_n what_o be_v the_o end_n of_o our_o knowledge_n then_o concern_v god_n glory_n even_o open_o to_o witness_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n before_o man_n as_o have_v be_v say_v before_o unless_o we_o have_v rather_o be_v count_v smotherer_n of_o that_o light_n which_o he_o have_v manifest_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n moreover_o we_o can_v be_v no_o lawful_a witness_n of_o god_n truth_n if_o he_o confirm_v we_o not_o by_o his_o truth_n for_o what_o validity_n be_v there_o in_o his_o testimony_n who_o doubt_v of_o the_o truth_n which_o he_o be_v to_o profess_v we_o must_v therefore_o be_v both_o teach_v by_o god_n word_n if_o we_o will_v have_v such_o a_o faith_n and_o hope_v as_o accomplish_v salvation_n he_o attribute_n here_o unto_o god_n the_o title_n of_o strength_n as_o in_o many_o other_o place_n because_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o know_v the_o eternal_a essence_n of_o god_n unless_o we_o therewithal_o ascribe_v unto_o he_o power_n &_o strength_n otherwise_o we_o shall_v leave_v he_o only_o a_o bare_a and_o naked_a title_n as_o the_o unbeliever_n do_v who_o indeed_o confess_v there_o be_v a_o god_n with_o their_o mouth_n and_o afterward_o attribute_v his_o power_n to_o this_o and_o that_o creature_n verse_n 9_o all_o they_o that_o make_v a_o image_n be_v vanity_n and_o their_o desirable_a their_o or_o desirable_a delectable_a thing_n shall_v not_o profit_v they_o and_o they_o be_v their_o own_o witness_n that_o they_o see_v not_o nor_o know_v therefore_o they_o shall_v be_v confound_v the_o lord_n now_o on_o the_o contrary_a show_n how_o miserable_a the_o idolater_n be_v which_o err_v and_o vanish_v away_o in_o their_o invention_n be_v not_o fast_o ground_v upon_o his_o eternal_a truth_n to_o wit_n they_o be_v senseless_a and_o void_a of_o sound_a judgement_n and_o as_o he_o have_v heretofore_o just_o condemn_v the_o ingratitude_n of_o the_o people_n if_o by_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n prescience_n and_o providence_n they_o be_v not_o encourage_v to_o hope_v well_o so_o now_o on_o the_o contrary_a he_o arm_n and_o fortify_v they_o against_o the_o superstition_n of_o the_o gentile_n gentile_n the_o faithful_a arm_v against_o the_o superstition_n of_o the_o gentile_n but_o in_o regard_n the_o unbeliever_n be_v many_o in_o number_n and_o flow_v in_o force_n and_o riches_n he_o denounce_v that_o all_o be_v vanity_n and_o to_o be_v short_a that_o all_o their_o goodly_a show_n will_v prove_v deceitful_a help_n in_o the_o end_n by_o their_o desirable_a desirable_a desirable_a thing_n he_o not_o only_o comprehend_v their_o idol_n but_o also_o all_o their_o service_n vestment_n pomp_n and_o ceremony_n which_o fool_n be_v wont_a to_o honour_v they_o withal_o and_o he_o set_v out_o these_o thing_n by_o a_o very_a fit_a word_n for_o see_v the_o chief_a end_n of_o man_n life_n life_n the_o chief_a end_n of_o man_n life_n consist_v in_o advance_v the_o true_a knowledge_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n wherein_o stand_v the_o main_a difference_n between_o we_o and_o brute_n beast_n so_o must_v it_o be_v prefer_v before_o all_o thing_n be_v they_o never_o so_o excellent_a to_o this_o i_o say_v we_o ought_v to_o refer_v all_o the_o thought_n and_o desire_n of_o our_o heart_n it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n then_o that_o the_o scripture_n use_v this_o word_n when_o it_o speak_v of_o god_n worship_n and_o service_n but_o it_o be_v use_v here_o touch_v a_o corrupt_a and_o furious_a zeal_n wherewithal_o idolater_n be_v carry_v away_o after_o their_o idol_n and_o their_o service_n for_o this_o cause_n he_o say_v that_o all_o their_o desirable_a thing_n about_o which_o they_o spend_v so_o much_o time_n be_v both_o vain_a and_o unprofitable_a oftentimes_o also_o this_o desire_n be_v compare_v to_o the_o filthy_a lust_n wherewith_o man_n be_v so_o bewitch_v or_o whole_o blind_v that_o they_o can_v not_o see_v their_o villainy_n nor_o yet_o obey_v common_a reason_n whereof_o we_o have_v large_o speak_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n in_o that_o he_o add_v themselves_o be_v witness_n some_o expound_v it_o promise_n in_o the_o middle_n that_o so_o be_v ground_v upon_o they_o we_o may_v be_v assure_v to_o pass_v safe_a and_o sound_a through_o all_o danger_n for_o it_o will_v serve_v to_o little_a purpose_n that_o one_o shall_v describe_v unto_o 〈◊〉_d the_o nature_n of_o god_n or_o inform_v we_o of_o his_o secret_a counsel_n if_o therewithal_o we_o be_v not_o bring_v to_o the_o word_n wherein_o the_o same_o be_v manifest_v but_o god_n speak_v plain_o and_o familiar_o unto_o we_o so_o as_o we_o have_v no_o need_n to_o inquire_v further_o we_o must_v therefore_o come_v to_o the_o word_n which_o plain_o open_v his_o will_n unto_o we_o if_o so_o be_v we_o will_v contain_v all_o our_o sense_n within_o the_o bound_n of_o it_o for_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v always_o remain_v in_o suspense_n and_o doubt_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o though_o the_o lord_n shall_v tell_v we_o a_o hundred_o time_n that_o he_o resemble_v man_n nothing_o at_o all_o and_o yet_o man_n if_o they_o will_v confess_v the_o truth_n do_v desire_n to_o be_v certain_a of_o their_o salvation_n and_o to_o know_v what_o shall_v befall_v they_o afterward_o we_o be_v therefore_o to_o observe_v this_o order_n well_o which_o the_o prophet_n here_o keep_v and_o thus_o moses_n bring_v the_o people_n to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o word_n say_v ask_v not_o who_o shall_v ascend_v up_o into_o heaven_n or_o who_o shall_v descend_v into_o the_o deep_a for_o the_o word_n be_v near_o thou_o in_o thy_o mouth_n and_o in_o thy_o heart_n deut._n 30.12_o and_o this_o be_v the_o word_n of_o faith_n the_o better_o understand_v the_o prophet_n word_n we_o be_v to_o search_v out_o his_o drift_n man_n doubt_v whether_o god_n will_v accomplish_v that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v in_o his_o word_n for_o we_o think_v his_o word_n hang_v in_o the_o air_n without_o any_o effect_n but_o by_o the_o very_a order_n of_o nature_n he_o show_v how_o detestable_a this_o opinion_n be_v for_o it_o be_v too_o absurd_a a_o thing_n to_o attribute_v less_o to_o the_o word_n then_o to_o a_o insensible_a creature_n and_o therefore_o he_o teach_v that_o the_o word_n be_v never_o without_o his_o effect_n some_o understand_v it_o as_o if_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v never_o in_o vain_a but_o that_o it_o always_o bring_v forth_o some_o fruit_n which_o i_o grant_v to_o be_v a_o truth_n for_o the_o lord_n work_v by_o his_o spirit_n &_o give_v increase_v 1._o cor._n 3.7_o that_o the_o labour_n of_o his_o minister_n may_v not_o be_v in_o vain_a but_o the_o prophet_n mean_v another_o matter_n namely_o that_o god_n cast_v not_o the_o seed_n of_o his_o word_n upon_o the_o ground_n without_o effect_n neither_o scatter_v he_o his_o promise_n in_o the_o air_n but_o we_o shall_v gather_v the_o fruit_n thereof_o if_o so_o be_v we_o resist_v he_o not_o by_o our_o own_o incredulity_n now_o he_o mention_n two_o effect_n of_o the_o rain_n which_o make_v the_o earth_n fruitful_a by_o fall_v to_o save_v the_o faithful_a so_o have_v it_o also_o his_o efficacy_n to_o condemn_v the_o wicked_a which_o jesus_n christ_n himself_o affirm_v john_n 12.48_o the_o word_n which_o i_o have_v speak_v
