attribute_n be_v original_o from_o he_o they_o derivative_o from_o he_o his_o infinite_a and_o boundless_a they_o limit_v and_o stint_v his_o invariable_a and_o unchangeable_a there_o be_v subject_n to_o mutation_n and_o decay_n and_o total_a abolition_n so_o that_o in_o these_o three_o respect_n even_o the_o communicable_a attribute_n of_o god_n be_v themselves_o incommunicable_a and_o so_o reveal_v and_o testify_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n 2_o pet._n 1.18_o 19_o speak_v of_o that_o miraculous_a voice_n that_o sound_v from_o heaven_n matth._n 17.5_o this_o be_v my_o belove_a son_n in_o who_o i_o be_o well_o please_v we_o say_v the_o apostle_n hear_v this_o voice_n when_o we_o be_v with_o he_o in_o the_o holy_a mount_n but_o we_o have_v also_o a_o more_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n or_o as_o the_o greek_a may_v well_o be_v render_v we_o account_v more_o sure_a the_o word_n of_o prophecy_n unto_o which_o you_o do_v well_o that_o you_o take_v heed_n stir_v this_o may_v make_v thou_o vile_a in_o thy_o own_o eye_n and_o deep_o humble_v under_o the_o sad_a and_o serious_a consideration_n of_o thy_o indwelling_a sin_n it_o be_v the_o very_a use_n they_o can_v retain_v nothing_o when_o they_o have_v read_v the_o scripture_n and_o will_v recollect_v what_o they_o have_v read_v they_o can_v give_v no_o account_n of_o it_o either_o to_o make_v the_o memory_n retentive_a of_o they_o most_o man_n memory_n be_v like_o jet_n or_o electrical_a body_n that_o attract_v and_o holdfast_v only_a straw_n or_o feather_n or_o such_o vain_a and_o light_a thing_n discourse_n to_o they_o the_o affair_n of_o the_o world_n or_o some_o idle_a and_o romantic_a story_n their_o memory_n retain_v this_o as_o faithful_o as_o if_o it_o be_v engrave_v on_o leaf_n of_o brass_n whereas_o the_o great_a important_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o great_a mystery_n of_o heaven_n and_o concernment_n of_o eternity_n leave_v no_o more_o impression_n upon_o they_o than_o word_n on_o the_o air_n in_o which_o they_o be_v speak_v whence_o be_v this_o but_o only_o that_o the_o one_o sort_n work_v themselves_o into_o the_o memory_n through_o the_o interest_n they_o have_v get_v in_o the_o affection_n which_o the_o other_o can_v do_v have_v we_o but_o the_o same_o delight_n in_o heavenly_a object_n do_v we_o but_o receive_v the_o truth_n in_o the_o love_n of_o it_o and_o mingle_v it_o with_o faith_n in_o the_o hear_n this_o will_v fix_v that_o volatileness_n and_o flittiness_n of_o our_o memory_n and_o make_v every_o truth_n as_o kingdom_n here_o upon_o earth_n or_o the_o church_n militant_a and_o that_o be_v twofold_n visible_a and_o invisible_a the_o visible_a kingdom_n of_o god_n upon_o earth_n be_v a_o company_n of_o people_n open_o profess_v the_o fundamental_o of_o religion_n and_o those_o truth_n necessary_a to_o salvation_n which_o god_n have_v make_v know_v unto_o the_o world_n and_o join_v together_o in_o the_o external_n communion_n of_o ordinance_n the_o invisible_a kingdom_n be_v a_o company_n of_o true_a believer_n who_o have_v internal_a and_o invisible_a communion_n with_o god_n by_o his_o practice_n they_o contradict_v and_o deny_v what_o they_o own_o and_o profess_v with_o their_o lip_n these_o belong_v to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n grace_n as_o to_o the_o external_n dispensation_n and_o regiment_n of_o it_o because_o they_o profess_v obedience_n to_o his_o law_n and_o live_v under_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n by_o which_o many_o of_o they_o through_o the_o efficacious_a concurrence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n be_v translate_v into_o the_o invisible_a kingdom_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n now_o this_o visible_a kingdom_n of_o god_n upon_o earth_n be_v but_o a_o imperfect_a state_n and_o condition_n for_o though_o all_o that_o be_v member_n of_o it_o be_v select_v and_o take_v out_o of_o the_o world_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o mixture_n and_o only_o because_o their_o conscience_n be_v convince_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n although_o their_o life_n be_v not_o subject_a to_o the_o power_n of_o it_o and_o these_o be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o world_n only_o as_o they_o be_v bring_v into_o the_o pale_a of_o the_o church_n and_o profess_v the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o religion_n as_o distinct_a from_o all_o other_o religion_n in_o the_o world_n and_o therefore_o we_o find_v the_o church_n or_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n in_o scripture_n frequent_o compare_v to_o a_o net_n cast_v into_o the_o sea_n gather_v every_o kind_n of_o fish_n both_o good_a and_o bad_a matth._n 13.47_o both_o sort_n be_v embrace_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o this_o net_n and_o no_o perfect_a separation_n can_v be_v and_o holiness_n so_o that_o the_o church_n be_v still_o imperfect_a not_o only_o from_o a_o mixture_n of_o person_n but_o from_o a_o mixture_n in_o person_n as_o we_o know_v but_o in_o part_n so_o we_o love_v but_o in_o part_n we_o fear_v we_o obey_v god_n but_o in_o part_n and_o with_o our_o profession_n of_o faith_n we_o have_v need_v also_o to_o prefer_v that_o humble_a petition_n mark_v have_v represent_v to_o we_o the_o unconceiveableness_n of_o both_o and_o if_o we_o will_v be_v so_o obstinate_a as_o after_o these_o manifest_a representation_n to_o choose_v hell_n and_o death_n it_o be_v but_o reason_n and_o justice_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v our_o own_o choice_n for_o it_o be_v our_o choice_n interpretative_o when_o we_o choose_v those_o way_n and_o action_n that_o expose_v to_o they_o and_o thus_o much_o concern_v the_o acknowledgement_n we_o make_v in_o this_o petition_n our_o debt_n debt_n vast_a and_o infinite_a which_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n will_v validity_n of_o all_o law_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o there_o be_v a_o penalty_n annex_v either_o literal_o express_v or_o tacit_o imply_v the_o guilt_n that_o we_o contract_v by_o transgress_v not_o find_v it_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o shall_v we_o need_v further_a to_o commend_v it_o to_o you_o by_o argument_n since_o it_o have_v commend_v itself_o by_o manifold_a experience_n but_o so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o devil_n know_v we_o be_v disarm_v and_o disable_v if_o once_o he_o can_v wrest_v the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n from_o we_o as_o the_o apostle_n call_v it_o and_o therefore_o labour_v all_o he_o can_v to_o strike_v the_o bible_n out_o of_o our_o hand_n or_o if_o we_o do_v read_v it_o he_o strive_v to_o put_v on_o such_o false_a spectacle_n as_o shall_v misrepresent_v every_o thing_n to_o we_o and_o possess_v we_o with_o prejudice_n and_o objection_n against_o it_o i_o shall_v therefore_o before_o i_o proceed_v any_o far_a encounter_n with_o some_o of_o those_o prejudice_v opinion_n which_o make_v this_o a_o clasp_v and_o seal_v book_n to_o many_o first_o some_o may_v fear_v lest_o the_o study_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o scripture_n shall_v
