first_o see_v christ_n go_v not_o away_o but_o he_o leave_v some_o joy_n pledge_n of_o his_o come_n again_o he_o put_v his_o hand_n by_o the_o hole_n of_o the_o door_n that_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o more_o from_o other_o but_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o heaven_n when_o a_o cloud_n hinder_v the_o sunbeam_n or_o the_o interposition_n of_o the_o earth_n make_v a_o eclipse_n for_o a_o time_n but_o afterward_o the_o sun_n shall_v break_v out_o and_o shine_v glorious_o so_o be_v it_o here_o first_o the_o promise_n be_v you_o shall_v weep_v for_o a_o time_n but_o your_o sorrow_n shall_v be_v turn_v into_o joy_n and_o your_o heart_n shall_v rejoice_v joh_n 16._o 20._o second_o affliction_n from_o the_o world_n for_o well-doing_n cast_v not_o joy_v out_o of_o a_o godly_a heart_n but_o comfort_n of_o need_v their_o life_n then_o needs_o because_o they_o mistake_v their_o estate_n two_o way_n especial_o first_o when_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o distinguish_v between_o nullytie_n and_o imperfection_n of_o grace_n oh_o they_o find_v no_o faith_n in_o their_o heart_n no_o fear_n no_o brokennesse_n of_o heart_n when_o they_o i_o will_v not_o say_v belie_v the_o spirit_n but_o unthankeful_o deny_v his_o work_n in_o themselves_o i_o grant_v here_o be_v imperfection_n of_o these_o grace_n but_o that_o they_o be_v quite_o shake_v out_o where_o ever_o they_o be_v in_o truth_n be_v not_o to_o be_v grant_v second_o when_o they_o will_v measure_v their_o estate_n by_o sense_n and_o not_o by_o faith_n whereas_o faith_n stand_v not_o by_o sense_n and_o feeling_n but_o be_v a_o secret_a force_n beyond_o these_o a_o man_n in_o a_o swoon_n or_o in_o a_o sleep_n feel_v not_o his_o life_n and_o yet_o be_v a_o live_a man_n and_o a_o sound_a man_n if_o the_o qualm_n or_o sleep_n be_v over_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o have_v grace_n another_o to_o feel_v grace_n one_o thing_n the_o life_n of_o faith_n another_o the_o life_n of_o sense_n four_o the_o godly_a be_v often_o too_o hasty_a and_o loath_a to_o stay_v their_o time_n of_o prepare_v to_o their_o glory_n this_o trouble_v they_o much_o that_o god_n delay_n they_o so_o long_o they_o fear_v he_o have_v utter_o forget_v they_o but_o he_o that_o believe_v make_v not_o haste_n and_o mark_v the_o just_a man_n his_o end_n be_v peace_n not_o always_o his_o beginning_n if_o god_n delay_v long_o yet_o he_o will_v come_v at_o last_o let_v thy_o faith_n grow_v in_o strength_n and_o thy_o joy_n shall_v be_v abundant_a thou_o shall_v not_o fear_v but_o that_o as_o in_o sampsons_n parable_n out_o of_o the_o eater_n shall_v meat_n come_v and_o out_o of_o strong_a affliction_n sweetness_n by_o all_o which_o we_o may_v see_v the_o blindness_n of_o the_o world_n that_o can_v see_v nothing_o at_o all_o in_o the_o godly_a life_n worth_n the_o take_n up_o and_o who_o to_o avoid_v the_o trouble_n of_o godly_a man_n refuse_v to_o partake_v in_o their_o joy_n which_o be_v so_o sure_a and_o sweet_a as_o that_o no_o affliction_n or_o sorrow_n can_v befall_v they_o in_o which_o they_o may_v not_o rejoice_v if_o it_o be_v not_o by_o their_o own_o default_n but_o let_v the_o godly_a themselves_o rejoice_v in_o their_o portion_n that_o god_n have_v sever_v they_o from_o the_o base_a brat_n and_o ismaels_n of_o the_o world_n who_o he_o send_v away_o with_o some_o gift_n but_o have_v bestow_v the_o peculiar_a livelihood_n of_o his_o own_o isaac_n upon_o they_o let_v they_o be_v glad_a in_o the_o evil_n they_o have_v escape_v in_o the_o good_a procure_v they_o within_z and_o without_o they_o here_o and_o hereafter_o the_o least_o dram_n of_o which_o have_v more_o true_a cause_n of_o joy_n in_o it_o then_o if_o they_o be_v heir_n of_o the_o world_n second_o see_v hence_o the_o unhappy_a estate_n of_o unrighteous_a man_n cause_n see_v they_o be_v without_o all_o find_a joy_n or_o cause_n of_o it_o for_o first_o what_o joy_n can_v he_o have_v that_o be_v a_o dead_a man_n dead_a in_o sin_n without_o the_o life_n of_o god_n without_o christ_n the_o fountain_n of_o life_n and_o joy_n sure_o a_o dead_a man_n that_o lie_v rot_v in_o his_o grave_n have_v as_o much_o cause_n of_o joy_n in_o that_o estate_n as_o he_o that_o be_v dead_a in_o sin_n have_v in_o he_o second_o what_o joy_n can_v he_o have_v in_o god_n who_o conscience_n continual_o vex_v and_o accuse_v he_o in_o who_o the_o spirit_n of_o fear_n and_o bondage_n rule_v which_o keep_v and_o bar_v out_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o much_o more_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n a_o sound_n of_o fear_n be_v ever_o in_o his_o ear_n job._n 15._o 20._o true_a it_o be_v a_o wicked_a man_n may_v labour_v to_o forget_v the_o trouble_n that_o haunt_v he_o or_o to_o brawn_n his_o heart_n not_o to_o

like_o the_o laughter_n of_o a_o thief_n upon_o the_o ladder_n ready_a to_o be_v turn_v off_o the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o such_o as_o rejoice_v in_o rail_v revenge_a quarrel_a disgrace_v and_o reproach_v of_o god_n child_n can_v such_o man_n rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n nay_o there_o be_v none_o of_o all_o this_o curse_a crew_n or_o the_o former_a rabble_n that_o can_v be_v glad_a but_o wealth_n prosperity_n in_o all_o which_o and_o the_o like_a if_o god_n be_v not_o still_o keep_v in_o sight_n the_o joy_n in_o they_o be_v unlawful_a and_o if_o god_n be_v in_o the_o eye_n than_o piety_n as_o wherein_o thou_o may_v as_o thou_o ought_v hold_v god_n always_o in_o thy_o sight_n for_o the_o three_o namely_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o joy_n god_n word_n and_o will_n be_v that_o our_o chief_a joy_n be_v on_o the_o chief_a measure_n good_a and_o as_o thing_n in_o the_o degree_n of_o their_o goodness_n approach_v unto_o or_o decline_v from_o that_o so_o must_v our_o joy_n be_v to_o they_o in_o great_a or_o small_a measure_n and_o here_o first_o god_n must_v be_v our_o glory_n and_o our_o joy_n all_o the_o day_n 1._o long_o that_o the_o bless_a father_n be_v our_o father_n the_o belove_a son_n of_o god_n our_o saviour_n and_o the_o holy_a spirit_n our_o sanctifier_n and_o comforter_n second_o next_o to_o god_n we_o must_v rejoice_v in_o his_o image_n 2._o for_o his_o sake_n and_o first_o because_o christ_n be_v the_o express_a image_n of_o his_o father_n we_o must_v rejoice_v in_o he_o above_o all_o man_n and_o angel_n even_o as_o the_o chief_a of_o 10000_o but_o
