be_v a_o troublesome_a work_n the_o temptation_n that_o this_o principle_n present_v may_v at_o least_o prevail_v thus_o far_o that_o see_v beside_o mean_n of_o conviction_n by_o argue_v they_o have_v another_o help_n at_o hand_n to_o keep_v down_o error_n namely_o compulsory_a violence_n make_v man_n who_o differ_v from_o they_o to_o suffer_v for_o those_o thing_n therefore_o not_o to_o trouble_v themselves_o very_o much_o in_o the_o way_n of_o seek_v to_o convince_v but_o for_o their_o own_o ease_n to_o rid_v their_o hand_n of_o such_o a_o burdensome_a work_n to_o cast_v the_o trouble_n and_o lay_v heavy_a burden_n upon_o their_o brethren_n this_o be_v easy_a for_o they_o to_o do_v though_o hard_o for_o their_o brethren_n to_o suffer_v but_o the_o table_n may_v turn_v one_o day_n wherein_o the_o sufferer_n shall_v have_v the_o great_a ease_n &_o the_o inflicter_n the_o sore_a burden_n but_o god_n forbid_v that_o their_o brethren_n shall_v lay_v it_o upon_o they_o though_o it_o be_v put_v into_o their_o power_n to_o do_v it_o the_o temptation_n to_o pride_n be_v not_o less_o neither_o be_v man_n heart_n less_o prone_a to_o this_o if_o it_o prevail_v what_o domineer_a be_v there_o like_a to_o be_v of_o one_o over_o another_o yea_o of_o some_o few_o over_o many_o if_o they_o judge_v in_o thing_n never_o so_o doubtful_a all_o must_v yield_v at_o least_o for_o their_o profession_n and_o practice_n this_o be_v a_o great_a power_n to_o be_v give_v to_o man_n over_o man_n in_o matter_n of_o faith_n and_o godliness_n this_o be_v lording_n it_o over_o god_n inheritance_n it_o be_v observable_a when_o the_o church_n be_v in_o the_o low_a condition_n this_o power_n be_v high_a the_o power_n of_o make_v canon_n in_o doubtful_a thing_n to_o bind_v under_o penalty_n and_o when_o this_o power_n be_v low_a as_o in_o the_o primitive_a time_n than_o the_o church_n be_v high_a seven_o this_o will_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o bring_v gross_a ignorance_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o church_n &_o of_o the_o world_n for_o first_o if_o man_n shall_v not_o be_v suffer_v to_o profess_v or_o practise_v otherwise_o then_o governor_n in_o church_n or_o state_n shall_v determine_v they_o will_v not_o take_v pain_n to_o find_v out_o the_o truth_n themselves_o but_o rather_o take_v thing_n implicit_o which_o be_v the_o easy_a way_n they_o will_v think_v it_o to_o little_a purpose_n to_o take_v pain_n in_o examine_v thing_n when_o after_o all_o be_v do_v they_o must_v be_v bind_v up_o at_o least_o in_o their_o profession_n and_o practice_n to_o what_o either_o be_v or_o shall_v be_v determine_v by_o those_o who_o have_v power_n of_o rule_n in_o their_o hand_n our_o late_a prelate_n design_n be_v to_o bring_v in_o ignorance_n that_o they_o may_v with_o the_o more_o freedom_n rule_v over_o we_o as_o they_o please_v and_o in_o nothing_o do_v they_o drive_v on_o this_o design_n more_o then_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o power_n which_o they_o take_v to_o themselves_o to_o command_v thing_n doubtful_a and_o controversall_a and_o by_o violence_n to_o urge_v their_o command_n upon_o people_n by_o which_o have_v their_o power_n continue_v gross_a ignorance_n will_v soon_o have_v be_v spread_v over_o the_o face_n of_o the_o land_n from_o whence_o have_v come_v the_o gross_a ignorance_n of_o popery_n but_o from_o the_o prevail_a of_o this_o principle_n by_o which_o the_o people_n have_v be_v bring_v in_o such_o subjection_n under_o their_o guide_n that_o they_o have_v lose_v their_o understanding_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o religion_n if_o it_o be_v say_v but_o we_o will_v take_v care_n that_o those_o man_n who_o shall_v be_v consult_v withal_o and_o those_o man_n who_o shall_v have_v power_n in_o their_o hand_n to_o determine_v shall_v be_v wise_a understanding_n godly_a man_n and_o then_o the_o danger_n will_v not_o be_v so_o great_a suppose_v those_o man_n who_o for_o the_o present_n have_v such_o power_n answ_n have_v attain_v to_o the_o high_a measure_n of_o of_o knowledge_n and_o godliness_n that_o can_v be_v imagine_v to_o be_v in_o any_o man_n upon_o the_o earth_n yet_o the_o people_n be_v under_o this_o temptation_n to_o neglect_v the_o get_n of_o knowledge_n themselves_o and_o it_o may_v be_v the_o rather_o because_o those_o who_o be_v appoint_v to_o determine_v thing_n be_v so_o understanding_n and_o so_o conscientious_a now_o these_o people_n grow_v ignorant_a when_o these_o know_v and_o godly_a man_n who_o be_v now_o in_o place_n shall_v be_v go_v who_o shall_v choose_v other_o in_o their_o place_n i_o suppose_v it_o to_o be_v the_o opinion_n of_o most_o of_o you_o and_o of_o the_o godly_a in_o the_o kingdom_n and_o in_o all_o reform_a church_n that_o either_o the_o body_n of_o the_o church_n the_o people_n must_v choose_v their_o officer_n or_o at_o least_o that_o none_o must_v be_v put_v upon_o they_o without_o their_o consent_n well_o then_o if_o the_o people_n through_o the_o prevail_a of_o the_o former_a temptation_n grow_v ignorant_a be_v it_o not_o like_a they_o will_v choose_v such_o guider_n and_o leader_n as_o themselves_o be_v or_o if_o they_o shall_v not_o choose_v yet_o their_o negative_a voice_n will_v have_v such_o a_o influence_n into_o the_o choice_n as_o it_o be_v very_o probable_a that_o in_o a_o generation_n or_o two_o blind_a guide_n will_v be_v bring_v in_o and_o so_o the_o blind_a lead_v the_o blind_a and_o when_o by_o this_o ignorance_n have_v prevail_v and_o get_v head_n in_o the_o church_n there_o be_v almost_o a_o impossibility_n ever_o to_o get_v it_o out_o again_o this_o bring_v man_n into_o the_o dark_a and_o lock_n and_o bolt_v the_o door_n upon_o they_o hence_o man_n by_o plead_v for_o this_o principle_n may_v bring_v themselves_o and_o their_o posterity_n into_o great_a bondage_n than_o they_o be_v aware_a for_o although_o now_o while_o they_o have_v the_o power_n in_o their_o own_o hand_n it_o may_v be_v well_o with_o they_o yet_o hereafter_o other_o may_v have_v the_o power_n and_o then_o it_o may_v prove_v ill_a enough_o they_o may_v then_o complain_v of_o what_o they_o now_o plead_v for_o though_o now_o the_o guide_n of_o the_o church_n may_v be_v good_a and_o holy_a yet_o they_o may_v live_v to_o see_v such_o a_o change_n or_o at_o least_o their_o posterity_n that_o such_o a_o principle_n act_v by_o such_o man_n as_o they_o may_v be_v under_o may_v wring_v they_o yea_o it_o be_v the_o more_o strange_a that_o man_n shall_v plead_v so_o much_o for_o this_o now_o when_o as_o the_o soar_v of_o their_o neck_n cause_v by_o the_o bondage_n under_o it_o a_o while_n since_o be_v scarce_o yet_o heal_v eight_o there_o be_v yet_o a_o further_a danger_n in_o this_o not_o only_o that_o man_n will_v neglect_v truth_n but_o there_o will_v be_v a_o strong_a temptation_n to_o resist_v and_o reject_v truth_n if_o god_n begin_v to_o dart_v in_o any_o light_n into_o a_o man_n spirit_n that_o appear_v to_o cross_v what_o have_v be_v determine_v of_o for_o opinion_n or_o practice_n under_o a_o penalty_n the_o corruption_n of_o a_o man_n heart_n will_v entice_v he_o to_o turn_v his_o mind_n from_o that_o light_n not_o
