better_a for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o understanding_n in_o this_o business_n be_v not_o to_o retain_v but_o to_o convey_v the_o truth_n to_o the_o heart_n as_o physician_n use_v when_o they_o be_v creature_n to_o your_o mind_n but_o bring_v your_o mind_n to_o the_o scripture_n and_o hear_v what_o the_o lord_n will_v say_v unto_o you_o three_o let_v your_o meditation_n upon_o scripture_n be_v suitable_a to_o your_o master_n sin_n as_o if_o your_o master_n sin_n be_v pride_n choose_v those_o scripture_n to_o meditate_v upon_o which_o be_v most_o in_o speak_v against_o pride_n and_o set_v down_o god_n hatred_n and_o detestation_n of_o it_o or_o his_o severe_a judgement_n execute_v upon_o it_o and_o all_o his_o threaten_n against_o it_o as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o several_a place_n that_o set_v down_o the_o evil_a nature_n or_o effect_n of_o it_o and_o so_o of_o any_o other_o sin_n that_o be_v not_o thy_o master_n sin_n for_o it_o be_v of_o great_a concernment_n and_o a_o sure_a sign_n of_o sincerity_n to_o keep_v ourselves_o from_o our_o own_o iniquity_n thus_o you_o find_v david_n speak_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o keep_v himself_o from_o his_o own_o iniquity_n psal._n 18_o 23._o 2._o meditate_v upon_o those_o scripture_n which_o you_o find_v suitable_a to_o the_o dispensation_n of_o god_n providence_n as_o when_o the_o church_n be_v in_o danger_n of_o persecution_n those_o scripture_n that_o set_v down_o the_o danger_n and_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o rich_a if_o thou_o be_v afflict_v with_o sickness_n poverty_n or_o disgrace_n imprisonment_n meditate_v upon_o those_o place_n which_o set_v down_o thy_o duty_n in_o those_o condition_n and_o those_o promise_n that_o set_v down_o comfort_n for_o thou_o in_o those_o condition_n meditate_v upon_o those_o scripture_n suitable_a to_o your_o temptation_n as_o if_o you_o be_v tempt_v to_o uncleanness_n as_o joseph_n be_v then_o meditate_v upon_o those_o scripture_n which_o speak_v against_o uncleanness_n
