they_o which_o both_o in_o itself_o deserve_v death_n and_o incline_v they_o or_o move_v they_o to_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n thereof_o sweet_a argument_n may_v more_o take_v with_o the_o renew_a part_n but_o this_o may_v more_o curb_v remain_v corruption_n and_o work_v upon_o the_o heart_n when_o in_o a_o fearless_a careless_a frame_n and_o if_o the_o soul_n be_v in_o never_o so_o good_a a_o frame_n to_o hear_v that_o they_o who_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n shall_v die_v may_v stir_v it_o up_o to_o thankfulness_n that_o through_o and_o in_o christ_n it_o be_v secure_a and_o the_o more_o thankful_a the_o more_o obedient_a shall_v we_o be_v to_o god_n if_o any_o say_v that_o grace_n most_o work_n upon_o they_o i_o answer_v the_o more_o any_o be_v draw_v by_o grace_n the_o less_o do_v thyself_o when_o any_o lust_n be_v up_o in_o thou_o that_o thou_o be_v more_o guilty_a than_o thou_o appear_v to_o thyself_o or_o fear_v it_o at_o least_o that_o thy_o corruption_n work_v more_o think_v of_o and_o consider_v of_o the_o mischievousness_n folly_n and_o hurtfulness_n of_o sin_n in_o its_o former_a issue_n forth_o work_v shame_n fear_v hatred_n whereby_o the_o consideration_n as_o a_o rule_n of_o wisdom_n step_v back_o speedy_o in_o a_o bad_a way_n solomon_n you_o may_v remember_v bring_v in_o the_o sluggard_n say_v a_o little_a more_o steep_a a_o little_a more_o slumber_n far_o as_o we_o can_v and_o to_o endeavour_v that_o those_o which_o will_v be_v may_v be_v as_o few_o and_o as_o weak_a as_o possible_a for_o which_o purpose_n i_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n give_v you_o only_o six_o or_o seven_o short_a rule_n first_o fear_v thyself_o fear_v lest_o this_o and_o that_o lust_n or_o corruption_n break_v forth_o in_o thou_o prov._n 28.14_o bless_a be_v the_o man_n true_a of_o every_o deed_n of_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n either_o a_o man_n must_v kill_v it_o or_o he_o will_v be_v kill_v by_o it_o kill_z or_o be_v kill_v be_v most_o true_a as_o to_o all_o sin_n the_o word_n i_o be_o upon_o teach_v this_o be_v necessary_a to_o life_n and_o that_o must_v be_v if_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o escape_v death_n but_o to_o evince_v this_o by_o some_o particular_n first_o be_v it_o not_o necessary_a that_o a_o deadly_a disease_n be_v mortify_v you_o know_v it_o be_v it_o will_v mortify_v if_o it_o be_v not_o mortify_v but_o sin_n be_v the_o disease_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o it_o be_v deadly_a as_o the_o apostle_n james_n say_v when_o it_o be_v finish_v it_o bring_v forth_o death_n and_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n say_v it_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o death_n no_o disease_n whatever_o more_o deadly_a to_o the_o body_n than_o every_o unmortified_a deed_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v to_o the_o soul_n a_o bodily_a disease_n hurt_v not_o the_o soul_n but_o a_o unmortified_a lust_n hurt_v soul_n and_o body_n with_o the_o great_a hurt_n be_v it_o not_o necessary_a then_o to_o be_v mortify_v or_o be_v it_o not_o necessary_a that_o a_o metal_n enemy_n that_o be_v near_o a_o man_n be_v slay_v if_o possible_a there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n to_o avoid_v death_n by_o his_o hand_n but_o to_o lay_v he_o dead_a at_o one_o foot_n lord_n over_o we_o second_o be_v it_o not_o necessary_a that_o we_o love_v god_n and_o christ_n and_o his_o commandment_n and_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o one_o another_o but_o we_o love_v none_o of_o these_o unless_o we_o mortify_v the_o deed_n of_o the_o body_n we_o love_v not_o god_n because_o he_o hate_v those_o deed_n he_o be_v dishonour_v by_o they_o offend_v and_o provoke_v and_o his_o spirit_n be_v grieve_v and_o quench_v thereby_o jam._n 4.4_o the_o friendship_n of_o the_o world_n be_v enmity_n to_o god_n whosoever_o therefore_o will_v be_v a_o friend_n of_o the_o world_n be_v the_o enemy_n of_o god_n so_o as_o to_o every_o deed_n of_o the_o flesh_n the_o friendship_n thereof_o be_v enmity_n to_o god_n whosoever_o therefore_o be_v a_o friend_n thereof_o be_v a_o enemy_n also_o denounce_v a_o sore_a curse_n to_o they_o who_o walk_v after_o their_o lust_n but_o the_o law_n tell_v we_o not_o of_o a_o remedy_n how_o we_o shall_v have_v help_n against_o they_o it_o be_v the_o gospel_n that_o teach_v we_o to_o mortify_v the_o deed_n of_o sin_n through_o the_o spirit_n the_o mere_a light_n of_o nature_n say_v of_o many_o sin_n they_o must_v be_v mortify_v but_o be_v at_o a_o stand_v as_o to_o this_o the_o only_a way_n for_o the_o mortification_n of_o they_o hence_o those_o great_a moralist_n and_o wise_a philosopher_n who_o speak_v much_o against_o many_o impiety_n and_o give_v divers_a rule_n good_a in_o their_o place_n for_o the_o get_v rid_v of_o they_o yet_o be_v silent_a in_o this_o some_o of_o those_o wise_a man_n give_v strange_a rule_n for_o write_v of_o one_o democritus_n he_o put_v out_o his_o eye_n because_o he_o can_v not_o look_v without_o lust_a but_o do_v that_o mortify_v his_o sin_n no_o though_o his_o eye_n be_v out_o his_o corruption_n continue_v still_o within_o there_o be_v two_o great_a thing_n only_o to_o be_v know_v by_o the_o gospel_n the_o one_o be_v how_o we_o may_v have_v peace_n with_o god_n be_v accept_v of_o he_o and_o justify_v in_o his_o sight_n the_o gospel_n only_o hold_v forth_o justify_v righteousness_n the_o other_o be_v this_o i_o be_o now_o upon_o how_o we_o may_v get_v our_o sin_n destroy_v one_o answer_n if_o it_o be_v in_o you_o it_o work_v in_o you_o it_o help_v and_o assist_v you_o and_o that_o in_o mortify_v your_o sin_n have_v your_o sin_n deadly_a wound_n be_v there_o any_o thing_n do_v real_o and_o considerable_o towards_o the_o ruine_v they_o if_o so_o than_o you_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n in_o you_o because_o this_o be_v to_o be_v do_v only_o through_o papist_n as_o in_o other_o thing_n for_o be_v there_o not_o many_o who_o hear_v the_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o have_v their_o sin_n

man_n common_o imagine_v there_o be_v no_o necessity_n of_o any_o help_n or_o at_o least_o that_o there_o be_v no_o necessity_n of_o any_o special_a help_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o this_o work_n but_o remember_v you_o i_o pray_v these_o three_o word_n 1._o such_o a_o thought_n be_v full_a of_o falsehood_n and_o deceit_n very_o cross_a to_o plain_a scripture_n exceed_v contrary_a to_o the_o gospel_n this_o work_n if_o we_o be_v help_v shall_v not_o live_v but_o die_v at_o last_o therefore_o shall_v we_o live_v for_o the_o spirit_n be_v almighty_a special_a work_n can_v be_v lose_v our_o work_n alone_o may_v well_o be_v and_o will_v be_v in_o vain_a and_o disow_v by_o god_n but_o that_o which_o we_o do_v through_o the_o powerful_a assistance_n and_o effectual_a working_n of_o the_o holy_a of_o the_o dead_a but_o of_o the_o live_n only_o of_o such_o to_o who_o he_o do_v and_o will_v give_v life_n all_o his_o child_n shall_v have_v life_n from_o he_o he_o will_v be_v their_o life_n five_o either_o we_o shall_v die_v or_o live_v there_o be_v no_o middle_n between_o death_n and_o life_n but_o if_o we_o through_o the_o spirit_n put_v sin_n to_o death_n if_o we_o mortify_v it_o
