true_o and_o also_o bestow_v your_o own_o good_n charitable_o as_o need_v and_o case_n require_v expl._n 80._o this_o command_n require_v in_o the_o general_n yet_o in_o a_o more_o direct_a and_o express_a manner_n internal_a obedience_n to_o all_o the_o other_o nine_o command_n or_o a_o universal_a regularity_n in_o man_n nature_n principle_n inclination_n inward_a motion_n and_o affection_n towards_o god_n and_o man_n obj._n but_o will_v some_o say_v this_o command_n therefore_o seem_v to_o be_v needless_a or_o supernumerary_n because_o every_o other_o command_n do_v require_v that_o only_o as_o a_o universal_a declaration_n but_o also_o as_o a_o universal_a confirmation_n of_o what_o god_n require_v as_o to_o the_o rectitude_n or_o due_a temper_n of_o soul_n in_o all_o the_o other_o command_v together_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v add_v to_o all_o the_o rest_n so_o that_o this_o command_n be_v of_o a_o further_a reach_n than_o all_o the_o former_a be_v it_o require_v universal_a rectitude_n or_o original_a righteousness_n towards_o god_n and_o man_n obj._n but_o then_o this_o law_n will_v require_v that_o which_o be_v impossible_a answ._n the_o law_n must_v not_o cease_v to_o be_v perfect_a because_o man_n be_v impotent_a or_o not_o able_a to_o perform_v man_n have_v wilful_o lose_v this_o power_n yet_o the_o law_n must_v not_o therefore_o lose_v its_o purity_n or_o perfection_n yet_o 2_o this_o frame_n of_o soul_n be_v not_o impossible_a to_o man_n rational_a nature_n though_o to_o corrupt_a nature_n 3_o though_o the_o rigour_n of_o the_o law_n do_v still_o require_v perfection_n yet_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n do_v accept_v of_o sincerity_n in_o and_o through_o christ._n but_o more_o particular_o 1_o this_o command_n require_v distinction_n of_o propriety_n or_o that_o a_o man_n shall_v know_v what_o belong_v to_o he_o as_o his_o own_o 2_o contentedness_n of_o mind_n with_o a_o man_n present_a condition_n and_o lot_n till_o god_n be_v please_v in_o his_o good_a providence_n to_o make_v his_o way_n plain_a before_o we_o for_o the_o alteration_n or_o better_n of_o our_o condition_n now_o god_n way_n of_o providence_n be_v know_v by_o this_o that_o it_o never_o contradict_v his_o reveal_v will_v in_o his_o word_n and_o in_o that_o it_o never_o destroy_v the_o eternal_a principle_n of_o righteousness_n to_o other_o than_o he_o do_v to_o they_o which_o wicked_a temper_n do_v arise_v 1_o from_o man_n covetousness_n 2_o from_o pride_n which_o will_v pull_v down_o other_o man_n estate_n to_o a_o man_n own_o level_n but_o these_o two_o level_a principle_n be_v destructive_a to_o propriety_n as_o well_o as_o society_n be_v here_o forbid_v 3_o from_o a_o double_a mistake_n as_o 1_o concern_v the_o nature_n of_o these_o thing_n as_o if_o a_o man_n happiness_n do_v consist_v in_o the_o abundance_n of_o these_o thing_n 2_o concern_v god_n government_n of_o the_o world_n as_o if_o he_o do_v not_o govern_v the_o world_n in_o wisdom_n and_o righteousness_n qu._n but_o may_v not_o a_o man_n lawful_o desire_v more_o of_o this_o world_n good_n than_o he_o have_v already_o answ._n yes_o provide_v 1_o his_o desire_n of_o what_o he_o want_v be_v without_o murmur_v and_o repine_v 2_o with_o cheerful_a submission_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o 3_o with_o subordination_n to_o god_n glory_n neither_o be_v contentment_n of_o mind_n at_o all_o inconsistent_a with_o such_o regular_a desire_n 2_o dly_a envy_v at_o the_o prosperity_n of_o other_o be_v here_o forbid_a for_o 1_o this_o be_v against_o charity_n which_o require_v we_o shall_v love_v our_o neighbour_n as_o ourselves_o and_o which_o shall_v rather_o rejoice_v than_o grieve_v at_o the_o good_a of_o other_o 2_o and_o that_o
