open_v their_o blind_a eye_n as_o david_n do_v open_v my_o eye_n that_o i_o may_v see_v the_o wonder_n of_o thy_o law_n but_o do_v they_o pray_v with_o david_n heart_n sincere_o do_v they_o not_o pray_v with_o secret_a and_o reserve_v exception_n and_o reservation_n do_v they_o not_o indent_v with_o god_n secret_o in_o heart_n how_o far_o they_o will_v be_v enlighten_v &_o how_o far_o not_o how_o far_o they_o will_v know_v of_o god_n will_n &_o how_o far_o they_o will_v be_v ignorant_a still_o let_v we_o try_v both_o minister_n &_o people_n for_o minister_n have_v they_o not_o such_o a_o distinction_n as_o this_o nourish_v in_o their_o mind_n to_o wit_n that_o there_o be_v some_o thing_n unknown_a of_o god_n will_v the_o knowledge_n whereof_o will_v make_v much_o to_o their_o praise_n and_o applause_n &_o will_v be_v well_o approve_v of_o by_o all_o their_o brethren_n and_o will_v be_v a_o meanse_n to_o establish_v they_o in_o their_o live_n if_o not_o to_o enlarge_v they_o and_o will_v not_o cross_v but_o rather_o
for_o counsel_n about_o the_o matter_n and_o all_o their_o wite_n &_o friend_n shall_v be_v employ_v for_o to_o find_v it_o out_o as_o they_o will_v have_v it_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a but_o now_o the_o ty_v of_o god_n law_n or_o a_o portion_n of_o the_o ti_v at_o least_o be_v detain_v from_o god_n and_o from_o themselves_o by_o themselves_o and_o here_o they_o will_v neither_o run_v nor_o ride_v nor_o ask_v for_o counsel_n in_o this_o case_n no_o nor_o accept_v &_o welcome_v it_o when_o it_o be_v bring_v &_o thrust_v in_o to_o their_o head_n it_o give_v a_o man_n to_o suspect_v that_o these_o love_n more_o unfeigned_o a_o good_a live_n than_o god_n law_n nay_o i_o can_v but_o think_v that_o if_o i_o have_v tender_v unto_o some_o minister_n a_o live_n of_o 50l._o or_o 60l._o a_o year_n &_o that_o upon_o no_o better_a evidence_n &_o title_n then_o in_o my_o former_a book_n i_o tender_v they_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n i_o can_v think_v i_o say_v that_o any_o man_n in_o the_o kingdom_n can_v wrest_v it_o out_o of_o their_o hand_n in_o a_o word_n these_o that_o be_v so_o mindelesse_a of_o god_n la_o when_o they_o be_v so_o mindful_a of_o their_o own_o live_n like_v as_o god_n say_v unto_o his_o people_n the_o jew_n when_o they_o neglect_v the_o build_n of_o the_o temple_n &_o yet_o be_v diligent_a to_o build_v themselves_o house_n be_v it_o time_n for_o you_o to_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n lie_v waste_v god_n must_v have_v a_o reckon_n of_o you_o for_o these_o thing_n this_o rule_n be_v apply_v to_o common_a people_n will_v detect_v they_o also_o be_v it_o so_o that_o whosoever_o love_v god_n law_n in_o truth_n he_o will_v with_o all_o readiness_n &_o willingness_n embrace_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o unknown_a part_n thereof_o then_o if_o i_o shall_v make_v it_o appear_v that_o most_o man_n be_v unwilling_a to_o embrace_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o unknow_v part_n of_o god_n la_o it_o will_v follow_v very_o suspicious_o that_o most_o man_n do_v not_o love_v the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o truth_n what_o ever_o they_o say_v &_o think_v to_o the_o contrary_a thus_o i_o make_v it_o good_a against_o they_o the_o doctrine_n of_o god_n sabbath_n be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o la_o &_o it_o be_v the_o unknow_v part_n of_o god_n la_o now_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o be_v tender_v unto_o man_n they_o bewray_fw-fr their_o unwillingness_n to_o be_v teach_v &_o instruct_v in_o it_o &_o that_o two_o way_n the_o one_o be_v in_o that_o when_o the_o matter_n come_v to_o trial_n they_o admit_v of_o insufficient_a artificial_a argument_n for_o they_o prefer_v feeble_a and_o weak_a reason_n before_o strong_a and_o able_a reason_n the_o other_o be_v in_o that_o they_o admit_v of_o insufficient_a inartificiall_a argument_n for_o they_o admit_v and_o allow_v of_o dissallowable_a and_o unsufficient_a testimony_n to_o decide_v this_o controversy_n by_o when_o these_o two_o thing_n be_v make_v plain_a the_o case_n will_v go_v clear_a against_o they_o for_o a_o foundation_n first_o of_o all_o suppose_v we_o the_o point_n in_o controversy_n to_o wit_n this_o unknown_a part_n of_o god_n law_n touch_v his_o sabbath_n be_v as_o disputable_a contingent_a questionable_a &_o as_o doubtful_a as_o you_o will_v in_o so_o much_o as_o in_o your_o very_a conscience_n you_o think_v it_o may_v be_v &_o it_o may_v not_o be_v a_o truth_n and_o that_o it_o be_v as_o lik_o not_o to_o be_v true_a as_o to_o be_v true_a let_v all_o this_o be_v grant_v perhaps_o there_o be_v some_o reason_n it_o shall_v be_v grant_v see_v that_o it_o be_v a_o point_n not_o hear_v of_o before_o by_o common_a people_n neither_o have_v they_o ever_o spend_v any_o time_n in_o the_o study_n of_o the_o point_n well_o be_v it_o so_o i_o proceed_v then_o for_o the_o first_o to_o wit_n that_o when_o the_o point_n of_o god_n sabbath_n come_v to_o be_v argue_v people_n yea_o minister_n also_o admit_v of_o insufficient_a argument_n prefer_v they_o before_o able_a &_o strong_a reason_n and_o this_o shall_v appear_v by_o compare_v together_o the_o reason_n bring_v onboth_o side_n the_o reason_n bring_v for_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n among_o other_o be_v these_o 1._o note_n of_o generality_n all_o neither_o be_v it_o necessary_o to_o be_v collect_v for_o 1._o their_o own_o expositor_n as_o perkins_n dod_n greenham_n elton_n ames_n with_o diverse_a other_o as_o shall_v be_v show_v do_v limit_v this_o text_n unto_o some_o sabbath_n as_o unto_o the_o ceremonial_a yearly_a sabbath_n and._n 2._o the_o text_n give_v light_a unto_o it_o for_o it_o condemn_v only_o all_o say_v all_o sabbath_n yet_o we_o know_v that_o the_o particle_n all_o be_v often_o time_n restrain_v in_o scripture_n &_o be_v not_o take_v in_o the_o large_a sense_n that_o may_v be_v witness_v these_o scripture_n 1._o cor._n 6.12_o 1._o cor._n 9.25_o 1._o corint_fw-la 10.23.33_o 1._o cor._n 13.2.7_o 1._o cor._n 15.22_o whereby_o we_o see_v that_o this_o their_o text_n col._n 2.16_o may_v be_v understand_v of_o some_o sabbath_n only_o as_o namely_o of_o the_o yearly_a sabbath_n and_o so_o there_o be_v no_o necessity_n it_o shall_v touch_v the_o moral_a weekly_a sabbath_n at_o all_o judge_n now_o good_a reader_n whither_o of_o these_o two_o text_n be_v more_o for_o the_o purpose_n for_o the_o four_o come_v it_o be_v understand_v direct_o of_o the_o seven_o
day_n weekly_a sabbath_n but_o the_o text_n col._n 2.16_o be_v and_o may_v be_v understand_v of_o the_o yearly_a sabbath_n and_o forasmuch_o as_o none_o ever_o doubt_v that_o the_o four_o come_v be_v ponder_v it_o well_o in_o your_o mind_n whither_o of_o these_o two_o text_n of_o scripture_n shall_v most_o prevail_v with_o you_o to_o wit_n exod._n 20.8_o or_o col._n 2.16_o &_o this_o note_n also_o that_o if_o this_o text_n col._n 2.16_o prevail_v with_o you_o than_o it_o must_v eat_v out_o the_o very_a heart_n &_o bowel_n of_o the_o four_o com._n if_o you_o embrace_v the_o text_n in_o their_o sense_n to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o seven_o day_n weekly_a sabbath_n therefore_o beware_v what_o you_o do_v but_o if_o you_o understand_v this_o text_n col._n 2.16_o only_o of_o the_o yearly_a sabbath_n such_o as_o you_o read_v of_o levit._n 23.24.32.39_o so_o you_o may_v retain_v both_o text_n still_o &_o one_o scripture_n shall_v not_o shoulder_v out_o a_o other_o i_o have_v the_o not_o do_v any_o work_n etc._n etc._n exod._n 20.10_o and_o 2._o we_o find_v it_o by_o all_o experience_n that_o if_o we_o rest_v from_o our_o labour_n on_o saturday_n the_o seven_o day_n it_o will_v great_o tend_v unto_o the_o furtherance_n of_o god_n public_a worship_n on_o that_o day_n and_o unto_o the_o beget_n grow_v and_o increase_n of_o grace_n in_o all_o man_n for_o when_o man_n do_v our_o rest_v from_o worldly_a employment_n on_o this_o day_n do_v great_o further_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n &_o all_o holy_a exercise_n just_o so_o it_o will_v be_v with_o the_o seven_o day_n if_o we_o have_v it_o in_o use_n 3._o that_o a_o rest_n from_o work_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v command_v as_o a_o work_n of_o mercy_n be_v plain_a exod._n 23.12_o in_o the_o seven_o day_n thou_o shall_v rest_v that_o thy_o ox_n and_o thy_o ass_n may_v rest_v and_o the_o son_n of_o thy_o maid_n and_o the_o stranger_n may_v be_v refresh_v see_v to_o this_o effect_n also_o deut._n 5.14_o so_o they_o have_v teach_v and_o this_o they_o can_v bear_v for_o so_o the_o people_n as_o some_o of_o they_o have_v say_v will_v never_o believe_v they_o again_o this_o be_v such_o a_o discredit_n as_o they_o that_o have_v ever_o live_v in_o credit_n and_o never_o deny_v themselves_o in_o such_o a_o point_n as_o this_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o bear_v it_o &_o therefore_o can_v bear_v no_o good_a will_n to_o the_o cause_n 3._o that_o they_o shall_v receive_v this_o point_n from_o so_o vile_a and_o contemptible_a a_o person_n as_o first_o broach_v it_o this_o can_v be_v bear_v it_o can_v be_v think_v their_o high_a spirit_n will_v stoop_v so_o low_a 4._o that_o the_o profession_n of_o this_o truth_n may_v endanger_v they_o the_o loss_n of_o their_o fair_a live_n 5._o it_o cross_v suppose_v antiquity_n 6._o it_o cross_v universality_n 7._o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v reform_v these_o &_o the_o like_o reign_v &_o rule_v in_o their_o mind_n how_o can_v it_o be_v but_o suspicious_a that_o they_o have_v no_o good_a will_n to_o the_o cause_n why_o then_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v lawful_a for_o i_o to_o except_v against_o these_o man_n testimony_n to_o have_v they_o draw_v so_o as_o they_o may_v pass_v no_o verdict_n touch_v the_o lord_n sabbath_n for_o their_o testimony_n be_v quit_v disable_v as_o you_o see_v &_o therefore_o to_o be_v reject_v furthermore_o party_n we_o say_v be_v no_o fit_a judge_n now_o minister_n in_o this_o case_n be_v party_n for_o they_o be_v violent_a against_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n wherefore_o they_o be_v no_o compitent_a judge_n if_o therefore_o people_n will_v have_v any_o knowledge_n of_o this_o part_n of_o god_n law_n they_o must_v get_v it_o themselves_o by_o their_o own_o study_n of_o the_o point_n they_o must_v search_v my_o book_n for_o god_n sabbath_n and_o their_o book_n &_o sermon_n against_o god_n sabbath_n &_o unpartial_o weigh_v the_o argument_n on_o both_o side_n without_o any_o regard_n have_v at_o all_o to_o the_o author_n thus_o yousee_fw-fr that_o if_o a_o man_n have_v knowledge_n of_o this_o truth_n &_o have_v honesty_n also_o yet_o if_o his_o goodwill_n be_v want_v his_o opinion_n &_o judgement_n be_v of_o no_o worth_n yet_o fruther_n i_o argue_v if_o that_o a_o man_n testimony_n be_v worth_n less_o for_o want_v of_o goodwill_n to_o the_o cause_n when_o as_o he_o once_o by_o wisdom_n know_v the_o truth_n first_o then_o much_o more_o worth_a less_o be_v it_o when_o he_o be_v stuff_v with_o a_o prejudice_n of_o the_o point_n before_o he_o know_v it_o that_o be_v when_o he_o have_v evil_a will_n to_o the_o point_n before_o he_o know_v it_o now_o this_o be_v the_o case_n of_o our_o minister_n as_o may_v be_v conjecture_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o those_o 7._o argument_n before_o mention_v for_o at_o their_o very_a firsthearsay_n of_o the_o point_n before_o they_o have_v read_v the_o book_n or_o study_v the_o point_n thes_n stumble_a block_n appear_v instant_o to_o wit_n if_o they_o embrace_v it_o there_o follow_v loss_n of_o credit_n loss_n of_o live_v &_o the_o rest_n so_o as_o their_o mind_n be_v so_o forestall_v with_o fear_n of_o these_o danger_n as_o they_o can_v regard_v what_o they_o hear_v nor_o what_o they_o read_v their_o judgement_n be_v quite_o overthrow_v for_o the_o most_o part_n &_o in_o this_o case_n say_v that_o they_o read_v the_o book_n about_o the_o point_n they_o read_v rather_o with_o a_o mind_n desirouse_v to_o carp_v &_o cawill_n at_o every_o thing_n as_o joyful_a to_o make_v false_a what_o they_o fear_v to_o embrace_v rather_o then_o to_o be_v further_o enlighten_v in_o the_o point_n as_o i_o appeal_v to_o their_o conscience_n if_o i_o say_v not_o true_a of_o they_o further_o the_o truth_n hereof_o appear_v that_o their_o mind_n &_o judgement_n be_v forestale_v against_o this_o point_n before_o they_o read_v or_o study_v the_o point_n for_o many_o minister_n yea_o the_o most_o who_o never_o study_v the_o point_n no_o nor_o ever_o see_v so_o much_o as_o the_o out_o side_n of_o my_o former_a book_n yet_o at_o the_o first_o hearsay_n of_o it_o cry_v burn_v the_o book_n &_o the_o like_a wherefore_o if_o people_n shall_v say_v i_o but_o now_o our_o minister_n have_v better_o study_v the_o point_n they_o have_v see_v &_o red_a his_o book_n &_o be_v yet_o as_o violent_a against_o it_o as_o before_o etc._n etc._n why_o what_o marvel_n see_v they_o set_v upon_o read_n it_o with_o a_o forestale_v opinion_n they_o resolve_v by_o read_v it_o to_o get_v no_o good_a by_o it_o but_o to_o see_v where_o it_o be_v weak_a in_o their_o conceit_n &_o so_o to_o blaze_v that_o a_o broad_a for_o they_o want_n that_o property_n of_o a_o allowable_a witness_n to_o wit_n goodwill_n and_o what_o though_o people_n say_v their_o minister_n be_v many_o who_o be_v of_o the_o same_o mind_n for_o the_o opinion_n of_o 10000_o of_o they_o be_v not_o worth_a a_o rush_n in_o this_o case_n the_o opinion_n of_o some_o one_o minister_n who_o speak_v for_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n with_o hazard_n to_o loose_v his_o live_n and_o credit_n with_o the_o rest_n be_v more_o to_o be_v esteem_v and_o prize_v by_o the_o people_n i_o avouch_v it_o then_o be_v the_o opinion_n of_o 10000_o minister_n who_o speak_v against_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n not_o dare_v to_o do_v otherwise_o for_o fear_v of_o loss_n of_o live_v credit_n and_o those_o other_o discommodity_n foremention_v the_o testimony_n of_o one_o martyr_n be_v of_o more_o worth_n then_o of_o all_o his_o persecutor_n for_o the_o witness_n of_o these_o many_o be_v to_o be_v suspect_v to_o speak_v for_o their_o profit_n rather_o than_o for_o a_o good_a conscience_n but_o the_o witness_n of_o that_o one_o be_v to_o be_v think_v to_o speak_v rather_o for_o his_o conscience_n then_o for_o his_o profit_n wherefore_o if_o people_n will_v be_v lead_v by_o the_o judgement_n of_o other_o rather_o then_o by_o themselves_o or_o if_o they_o will_v lean_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o to_o other_o man_n judgment_n let_v they_o choose_v to_o follow_v the_o opinion_n of_o he_o that_o lose_v by_o his_o judgement_n rather_o than_o of_o they_o who_o make_v again_o by_o their_o opinion_n that_o this_o point_n may_v be_v yet_o clear_a see_v what_o a_o power_n carnal_a fear_n have_v over_o a_o good_a conscience_n in_o the_o day_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v say_v joh._n 12.42_o nevertheless_o among_o the_o chief_a ruler_n many_o believe_v in_o he_o but_o because_o of_o the_o pharise_n they_o do_v not_o confess_v he_o lest_o they_o shall_v be_v cast_v out_o of_o the_o know_v it_o &_o also_o much_o soon_o of_o fear_n they_o may_v refuse_v to_o learn_v to_o know_v this_o truth_n when_o it_o be_v tender_v they_o for_o peter_n know_v christ_n &_o peter_n be_v a_o consideration_n therefore_o of_o these_o many_o stumble_a block_n in_o the_o way_n of_o minister_n whereof_o they_o can_v be_v ignorant_a shall_v i_o think_v strike_v they_o with_o a_o fear_n that_o they_o speak_v partial_o and_o corrupt_o when_o they_o speak_v against_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n know_v how_o easy_a a_o thing_n it_o be_v for_o man_n mind_n to_o be_v forestale_v with_o a_o
