intercession_n for_o the_o acceptation_n of_o that_o which_o they_o call_v and_o account_v dung_n as_o though_o christ_n will_v offer_v up_o to_o god_n on_o their_o account_n by_o his_o intercession_n or_o that_o god_n will_v accept_v that_o which_o be_v as_o dung_n and_o so_o filthy_a and_o abominable_a in_o a_o moral_a sense_n and_o then_o further_o these_o very_a person_n in_o the_o same_o person_n do_v rest_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n where_o grace_n be_v in_o exercise_n this_o i_o deny_v for_o when_o a_o person_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n do_v rest_n upon_o christ_n and_o his_o mediation_n for_o acceptation_n it_o be_v either_o one_o that_o have_v faith_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o or_o it_o be_v as_o he_o who_o be_v destitute_a of_o faith_n and_o so_o of_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o if_o the_o former_a manifest_a it_o be_v that_o where_o there_o be_v true_a faith_n in_o its_o exercise_n that_o soul_n can_v but_o rest_v upon_o christ_n if_o the_o latter_a than_o the_o consequence_n must_v be_v suppose_v that_o a_o person_n perform_v duty_n that_o be_v destitute_a of_o true_a faith_n and_o so_o without_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o he_o be_v a_o person_n that_o rest_v upon_o christ_n and_o who_o duty_n shall_v be_v accept_v when_o yet_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n touch_v person_n trust_v in_o their_o grace_n and_o make_v saviour_n of_o their_o grace_n i_o affirm_v in_o like_a manner_n that_o where_o there_o be_v the_o truth_n and_o exercise_n of_o grace_n it_o be_v impossible_a for_o that_o person_n to_o rest_n in_o his_o grace_n or_o make_v a_o saviour_n of_o it_o and_o that_o because_o as_o before_o it_o be_v of_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o grace_n to_o lead_v thither_o from_o whence_o it_o come_v i._n e._n to_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o the_o soul_n rest_n and_o centre_n whatsoever_o be_v from_o ourselves_o lead_v we_o into_o ourselves_o but_o whatsoever_o be_v from_o god_n as_o a_o moral_a good_a tend_v towards_o god_n well_o but_o say_v some_o though_o grace_n be_v from_o god_n and_o so_o be_v good_a yet_o it_o no_o soon_o pass_v through_o we_o but_o it_o be_v defileâ—_n i_o wonder_v for_o my_o part_n what_o notion_n man_n have_v of_o this_o allusive_a term_n pass_v through_o or_o when_o they_o say_v that_o grace_n pass_v if_o grace_n be_v defile_v so_o soon_o as_o we_o be_v the_o subject_n of_o it_o or_o so_o soon_o as_o it_o be_v give_v unto_o we_o or_o wrought_v in_o we_o then_o how_o come_v it_o by_o this_o defilement_n it_o must_v either_o be_v from_o some_o change_n or_o it_o remain_v what_o it_o be_v if_o it_o be_v from_o some_o change_n that_o it_o be_v defile_v see_v that_o this_o defilement_n must_v be_v moral_a than_o it_o must_v partake_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o sin_n and_o if_o so_o it_o must_v cease_v to_o be_v grace_n and_o if_o it_o do_v and_o become_v sin_n as_o it_o must_v if_o it_o partake_v of_o moral_a pollution_n then_o in_o who_o will_v mortify_a and_o sanctify_a grace_n be_v find_v if_o grace_n remain_v what_o it_o be_v and_o it_o be_v pure_a and_o good_a as_o grant_v harsh_a but_o it_o may_v be_v say_v do_v not_o a_o true_a christian_a exalt_v and_o set_v up_o his_o grace_n above_o christ_n in_o a_o time_n of_o temptation_n to_o spiritual_a pride_n because_o of_o exalt_v and_o high_a esteem_n of_o himself_o be_v a_o depress_v of_o his_o grace_n and_o a_o put_v a_o stop_n unto_o its_o exercise_n whereby_o he_o shall_v exalt_v christ_n so_o that_o grace_n can_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o his_o pride_n for_o it_o be_v against_o its_o nature_n but_o the_o suppress_n of_o grace_n or_o a_o put_v a_o stop_n to_o its_o exercise_n by_o the_o prevalency_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o more_o of_o this_o but_o may_v not_o a_o christian_a be_v proud_a of_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n i_o answer_v he_o may_v be_v lift_v up_o in_o himself_o and_o proud_a of_o himself_o after_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n not_o that_o this_o exercise_n be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o it_o may_v be_v a_o accidental_a occasion_n but_o than_o it_o be_v the_o abuse_n both_o of_o grace_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o the_o truth_n be_v christian_n if_o you_o will_v be_v secure_v from_o spiritual_a pride_n be_v keep_v humble_a labour_v to_o be_v much_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n fear_v not_o that_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n shall_v lead_v you_o to_o rest_n either_o in_o it_o or_o in_o yourself_o for_o it_o be_v against_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o it_o the_o more_o of_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n the_o more_o do_v the_o soul_n take_v up_o its_o rest_n in_o god_n through_o christ_n it_o be_v very_o strange_a in_o some_o man_n o_o say_v they_o you_o must_v cast_v away_o all_o your_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n and_o account_v they_o as_o dung_n and_o rest_v whole_o upon_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n just_a as_o though_o there_o be_v such_o a_o inconsistency_n and_o opposition_n betwixt_o christ_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o spirit_n and_o holy_a obedience_n as_o that_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n can_v not_o be_v rely_v upon_o and_o trust_v to_o for_o acceptation_n except_o we_o lay_v by_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n as_o useless_a here_o when_o for_o my_o part_n it_o be_v a_o matter_n quite_o beyond_o my_o reach_n to_o know_v how_o or_o with_o what_o or_o in_o what_o to_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n for_o my_o acceptation_n without_o grace_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o in_o holy_a duty_n for_o think_v i_o if_o i_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n i_o must_v have_v some_o way_n in_o which_o and_o something_o by_o which_o i_o must_v thus_o rely_v or_o how_o can_v i_o but_o it_o be_v like_a somâ—_n man_n will_v have_v neither_o if_o both_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n must_v be_v account_v and_o cast_v away_o as_o dung_n here_o o_o but_o say_v they_o you_o must_v beware_v of_o rest_v upon_o your_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n for_o your_o acceptation_n and_o so_o of_o make_v a_o christ_n of_o they_o i_o answer_v for_o my_o part_n i_o do_v not_o fear_v this_o if_o i_o have_v but_o the_o truth_n and_o exercise_n of_o grace_n for_o god_n have_v give_v grace_n and_o draw_v forth_o grace_n into_o exercise_n for_o this_o very_a end_n that_o person_n shall_v rest_v upon_o and_o trust_v unto_o christ_n m_o diation_n for_o their_o acceptation_n and_o sure_o i_o be_o grace_v where_o it_o be_v in_o act_n will_v act_v according_a to_o its_o nature_n and_o this_o be_v to_o lead_v the_o soul_n that_o have_v it_o towards_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o its_o centre_n and_o rest_n and_o therefore_o if_o some_o person_n will_v amuse_v themselves_o and_o other_o unnecessary_o i_o can_v help_v they_o but_o i_o shall_v pray_v the_o lord_n to_o measure_v my_o faith_n and_o quicken_v grace_n and_o grant_v i_o the_o free_a exercise_n of_o it_o in_o every_o duty_n and_o then_o i_o know_v i_o shall_v be_v humble_a advance_v christ_n and_o rest_n upon_o he_o as_o my_o only_a mediator_n to_o obtain_v for_o i_o the_o grant_v of_o all_o save_a good_a
