it_o want_v a_o root_n and_o it_o be_v but_o superficial_a it_o do_v not_o root_n in_o the_o heart_n in_o christ_n nor_o do_v it_o flow_v from_o chrisi_n as_o a_o root_n or_o live_a principle_n 2._o it_o want_v constancy_n or_o duration_n it_o be_v not_o fix_v on_o christ_n for_o christ_n alone_o but_o for_o some_o self_n advantage_n and_o therefore_o in_o time_n of_o temptation_n it_o wither_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n if_o he_o repent_v nor_o etc._n etc._n three_o some_o man_n do_v think_v that_o they_o have_v that_o true_a faith_n which_o do_v entitle_v to_o deceive_v some_o man_n think_v they_o have_v true_a faith_n but_o â—e_v deceive_v remission_n of_o sin_n but_o they_o be_v deceive_v belove_a self-deceit_n be_v very_o natural_a and_o common_a that_o a_o man_n may_v think_v himself_o to_o be_v
circumstance_n and_o the_o heart_n be_v real_o sensible_a of_o the_o injury_n against_o god_n in_o they_o o_o how_o much_o ofttimes_o have_v he_o be_v provoke_v and_o dishonour_v psal_n 40._o 12._o innumerable_a evil_n have_v compass_v i_o about_o my_o iniquity_n have_v take_v hold_v of_o i_o so_o that_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o look_v up_o they_o be_v more_o than_o the_o hair_n of_o my_o head_n therefore_o my_o heart_n fail_v i_o mark_v he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o look_v up_o and_o his_o heart_n fail_v he_o o_o think_v he_o here_o be_v such_o a_o number_n of_o sin_n indeed_o will_v the_o lord_n ever_o pardon_v all_o these_o i_o fear_v he_o will_v not_o i_o can_v hardly_o believe_v that_o he_o will_n there_o be_v three_o thing_n which_o make_v it_o so_o difficult_a to_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v forgive_v all_o our_o sin_n 1._o the_o weakness_n of_o faith_n which_o can_v present_o apprehend_v and_o reach_v the_o height_n and_o depth_n and_o breadth_n and_o length_n of_o the_o love_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n simile_n a_o weak_a faith_n be_v like_o a_o weak_a eye_n which_o can_v behold_v the_o sun_n in_o its_o glory_n so_o weak_a faith_n can_v so_o well_o behold_v god_n in_o the_o glorious_a manifestation_n of_o his_o exceed_o abundant_a grace_n but_o dazzle_v and_o doubt_n be_v there_o such_o a_o treasury_n of_o mercy_n for_o a_o sinner_n be_v there_o enough_o in_o christ_n for_o all_o these_o sin_n 2._o the_o tenderness_n of_o conscience_n which_o be_v very_o sensible_a of_o a_o multitude_n of_o sin_n and_o feel_v god_n displeasure_n and_o anger_n raise_v strong_a fear_n and_o exception_n against_o universal_a forgiveness_n of_o all_o our_o sin_n shall_v i_o find_v mercy_n who_o do_v feel_v wrath_n can_v i_o be_v persuade_v that_o god_n will_v speak_v threefold_a account_n 1._o the_o honour_n of_o god_n which_o be_v as_o much_o concern_v in_o this_o branch_n of_o the_o covenant_n as_o in_o any_o other_o he_o do_v lay_v forth_o in_o it_o as_o i_o hint_v before_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o great_a goodness_n and_o his_o heart_n of_o mercy_n to_o the_o very_a full_a and_o beside_o this_o he_o seal_v this_o part_n of_o his_o covenant_n with_o the_o same_o infallibility_n of_o truth_n and_o ratify_v it_o with_o the_o same_o blood_n of_o christ_n which_o though_o it_o respect_v the_o stablish_n of_o the_o whole_a covenant_n yet_o it_o be_v more_o frequent_o express_v to_o confirm_v the_o branch_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o mat._n 26._o 28._o ephes_n 1._o 7._o 1_o john_n 1_o 7._o rev._n 1._o 5._o etc._n etc._n that_o our_o faith_n may_v be_v the_o more_o strengthen_v and_o so_o give_v unto_o god_n the_o more_o glory_n in_o and_o for_o such_o a_o gracious_a truth_n and_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o one_o thing_n that_o what_o ground_n you_o have_v to_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v forgive_v you_o any_o one_o of_o your_o sin_n the_o very_a same_o you_o have_v to_o believe_v that_o he_o will_v forgive_v you_o all_o your_o sin_n and_o upon_o the_o same_o reason_n that_o you_o believe_v not_o the_o promise_n as_o to_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o all_o your_o sin_n upon_o the_o same_o reason_n you_o must_v deny_v belief_n of_o the_o promise_n as_o to_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o any_o one_o sin_n and_o so_o god_n lose_v all_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o rich_a mercy_n by_o your_o unbelief_n 2._o the_o peace_n of_o your_o own_o conscience_n for_o suppose_v you_o do_v believe_v that_o god_n will_v forgive_v some_o of_o your_o sin_n but_o some_o other_o of_o your_o sin_n he_o will_v not_o forgive_v can_v this_o partial_a forgiveness_n settle_v and_o quiet_v your_o conscience_n will_v they_o not_o hold_v you_o under_o as_o much_o fear_n and_o bondage_n as_o if_o not_o one_o of_o your_o sin_n be_v forgive_v sure_o it_o will_v because_o there_o be_v still_o in_o any_o unforgve_v sin_n so_o much_o guilt_n and_o merit_n as_o will_v serve_v effectual_o to_o the_o everlasting_a destruction_n of_o your_o soul_n and_o body_n 3._o the_o renew_n of_o you_o again_o to_o repentance_n and_o bring_v of_o you_o back_o again_o unto_o god_n for_o suppose_v you_o confine_v your_o faith_n to_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v pardon_v the_o sin_n which_o you_o have_v commit_v in_o time_n past_a and_o beyond_o this_o your_o faith_n will_v not_o stir_v tell_v i_o then_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o will_v you_o do_v for_o the_o sin_n you_o have_v commit_v since_o conversion_n will_v you_o have_v they_o pardon_v or_o will_v you_o not_o have_v they_o pardon_v will_v you_o go_v on_o in_o they_o or_o will_v you_o forsake_v they_o will_v you_o still_o go_v away_o or_o will_v you_o return_v to_o your_o first_o husband_n sure_o you_o will_v have_v they_o dare_v assure_v you_o that_o where_o the_o hope_n of_o mercy_n cease_v there_o the_o practice_n of_o repentance_n will_v cease_v but_o on_o the_o contrary_a when_o you_o can_v by_o faith_n see_v god_n willing_a and_o ready_a to_o pardon_v you_o and_o accept_v of_o you_o this_o will_v melt_v and_o this_o will_v move_v your_o heart_n to_o repent_v and_o to_o return_v unto_o the_o lord_n etc._n etc._n god_n have_v yet_o thought_n of_o mercy_n towards_o i_o i_o will_v arise_v and_o go_v to_o my_o father_n and_o say_v father_n i_o have_v sin_v against_o thou_o etc._n etc._n second_o and_o this_o
