belong_v thereunto_o obj._n but_o one_o objection_n more_o may_v seem_v very_o material_a and_o weighty_a to_o many_o namely_o thus_o in_o this_o treatise_n of_o essential_a christianity_n why_o be_v there_o no_o mention_n make_v of_o baptism_n and_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o of_o preach_v the_o word_n and_o prayer_n be_v not_o these_o essential_a thing_n in_o christianity_n and_o why_o be_v these_o leave_v out_o answ_n i_o answer_v i_o do_v not_o leave_v they_o out_o in_o opposition_n to_o they_o but_o because_o first_o they_o be_v not_o so_o inseparable_a to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n as_o that_o there_o be_v no_o enjoyment_n thereof_o without_o these_o especial_o as_o they_o be_v under_o the_o apostasy_n administer_v second_o because_o these_o may_v all_o be_v profess_v and_o take_v up_o by_o person_n who_o be_v worker_n of_o iniquity_n and_o not_o own_v by_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n even_o by_o man_n who_o live_v in_o open_a wickedness_n and_o therefore_o be_v not_o admit_v into_o his_o kingdom_n because_o they_o be_v baptize_v or_o receive_v the_o supper_n or_o frequent_a public_a prayer_n or_o be_v preacher_n of_o the_o scripture_n paul_n speak_v the_o same_o thing_n to_o a_o baptise_a church_n who_o also_o have_v the_o supper_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o practice_n among_o they_o and_o who_o come_v behind_o in_o no_o gift_n yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o these_o thing_n he_o set_v this_o caution_n before_o their_o eye_n to_o ponder_v on_o know_v you_o not_o say_v he_o that_o the_o unrighteous_a shall_v not_o inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v not_o deceive_v neither_o fornicator_n nor_o idolater_n nor_o adulterer_n nor_o effeminate_a nor_o abuser_n of_o themselves_o with_o mankind_n nor_o thief_n nor_o covetous_a nor_o drunkard_n christ_n himself_o have_v foretell_v that_o many_o shall_v plead_v for_o themselves_o thus_o lord_n lord_n have_v we_o not_o prophesy_v in_o thy_o name_n etc._n etc._n yet_o he_o will_v answer_v frequent_v prayer_n and_o preach_v and_o the_o lord_n supper_n but_o see_v one_o may_v live_v in_o these_o and_o yet_o be_v far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n therefore_o i_o have_v not_o place_v these_o thing_n among_o those_o that_o be_v essential_a to_o that_o life_n that_o enter_v the_o kingdom_n although_o these_o thing_n right_o use_v and_o at_o the_o lamb_n requiring_n
may_v be_v refresh_a help_n to_o those_o who_o in_o sincerity_n of_o heart_n and_o simplicity_n of_o conscience_n do_v walk_v therein_o there_o be_v a_o baptism_n indeed_o and_o a_o supper_n which_o be_v essential_a to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n but_o those_o be_v couch_v under_o other_o thing_n before_o speak_v yet_o for_o more_o plainess_n i_o shall_v here_o express_v they_o more_o particular_o peter_n tell_v we_o of_o a_o baptism_n that_o save_v we_o and_o that_o must_v needs_o be_v essential_a 1_o pet._n 3.21_o the_o like_a figure_n whereunto_o even_o baptism_n do_v also_o now_o save_v we_o not_o the_o put_v away_o of_o the_o filth_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o the_o answer_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n towards_o god_n by_o the_o resurrection_n of_o jesus_n christ._n and_o increase_v with_o good_n have_v needs_o of_o nothing_o which_o blind_v their_o eye_n so_o that_o they_o know_v not_o that_o they_o be_v wretched_a and_o miserable_a and_o poor_a and_o blind_a and_o naked_a and_o so_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n of_o asia_n they_o be_v all_o in_o church_n fellowship_n enjoy_v the_o outward_a ordinance_n but_o that_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o they_o be_v gather_v in_o thither_o as_o into_o a_o nursery_n or_o garden_n to_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v grow_v up_o in_o grace_n and_o bring_v forth_o good_a fruit_n unto_o god_n so_o there_o be_v a_o prayer_n that_o be_v essential_a and_o have_v communion_n with_o god_n viz._n when_o in_o the_o spirit_n we_o worship_v god_n and_o when_o the_o spirit_n make_v intercession_n in_o we_o according_a call_v a_o ordinance_n for_o ever_o yet_o when_o the_o fullness_n of_o time_n be_v come_v that_o the_o substance_n of_o all_o the_o shadow_n take_v place_n in_o their_o stead_n then_o say_v one_o mystery_n shall_v have_v his_o seat_n in_o the_o temple_n of_o god_n that_o be_v be_v god_n ordinance_n have_v their_o place_n by_o right_n but_o iniquity_n work_v under_o this_o profession_n of_o these_o thing_n make_v that_o a_o mystery_n which_o otherwise_o be_v open-fast_a wickedness_n only_o it_o hide_v itself_o under_o a_o profession_n and_o destructive_a zeal_n against_o neglecter_n of_o its_o form_n now_o in_o this_o case_n i_o say_v there_o may_v be_v a_o follow_v of_o the_o lamb_n even_o out_o of_o those_o observance_n of_o he_o which_o once_o be_v command_v but_o i_o do_v not_o urge_v this_o except_o he_o lead_v and_o if_o he_o lead_v and_o go_v before_o they_o then_o shall_v his_o follower_n have_v peace_n and_o a_o secret_a witness_n in_o themselves_o although_o they_o meet_v with_o opposition_n from_o other_o which_o they_o be_v likely_a to_o do_v in_o follow_v the_o lamb_n for_o its_o he_o that_o the_o evil_a spirit_n persecute_v by_o his_o servant_n in_o who_o he_o rule_v and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a testimony_n that_o its_o one_o great_a ordinance_n of_o christ_n for_o his_o people_n to_o come_v out_o of_o false_a and_o corrupt_a worship_n after_o the_o mystery_n of_o iniquity_n have_v abuse_v they_o because_o the_o persecution_n lie_v most_o thereupon_o if_o not_o altogether_o the_o papist_n they_o persecute_v because_o people_n relinquish_v their_o form_n the_o episcopal_a the_o presbyterian_a etc._n etc._n they_o all_o do_v the_o like_a though_o a_o man_n be_v just_a and_o upright_o in_o his_o conversation_n yet_o if_o he_o draw_v from_o their_o form_n they_o hate_v they_o revile_v they_o persecute_v at_o least_o with_o the_o tongue_n and_o why_o be_v this_o but_o because_o they_o follow_v the_o lamb_n who_o say_v in_o their_o spirit_n come_v out_o of_o she_o my_o people_n be_v he_o that_o go_v before_o his_o true_a follower_n and_o lead_v they_o out_o gentle_o and_o therefore_o say_v come_v out_o and_o this_o come_n out_o i_o say_v be_v a_o great_a ordinance_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o discovery_n and_o dissolution_n of_o all_o corrupt_a worship_n and_o the_o follower_n of_o christ_n herein_o be_v dignify_v with_o this_o honour_n that_o it_o be_v say_v of_o they_o these_o be_v they_o which_o follow_v the_o lamb_n whithersoever_o he_o go_v but_o note_n they_o be_v such_o as_o true_o follow_v the_o lamb_n in_o who_o mouth_n be_v find_v no_o guile_n if_o they_o shall_v turn_v from_o corrupt_a worship_n and_o
