conceit_n and_o invention_n as_o in_o extempore_o prayer_n the_o advantage_n of_o variety_n and_o copiousness_n of_o conceit_n be_v both_o in_o premeditate_a and_o extempore_o prayer_n and_o be_v because_o there_o be_v many_o of_o they_o use_v in_o opposition_n to_o but_o one_o as_o often_o a_o repeat_v form_n as_o be_v before_o say_v but_o quickness_n of_o conceit_n or_o invention_n be_v better_a that_o one_o and_o the_o same_o excellent_a good_a thing_n shall_v be_v apprehend_v and_o will_v by_o we_o though_o never_o so_o sluggish_o and_o dull_o than_o that_o many_o and_o a_o great_a number_n either_o of_o unprofitable_a trifle_a useless_a mischievous_a and_o bad_a thing_n shall_v be_v know_v by_o we_o and_o fly_v about_o in_o our_o imagination_n and_o be_v violent_o and_o passion_n and_o consequent_a bad_a impression_n and_o inclination_n it_o clear_v our_o reason_n and_o perception_n of_o all_o perfection_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o thing_n and_o consequent_o of_o the_o nature_n and_o excellency_n of_o virtue_n and_o its_o only_a instance_n universal_a charity_n and_o goodness_n yea_o and_o cause_v we_o to_o be_v deep_o affect_v with_o it_o to_o admire_v and_o love_v it_o it_o immediate_o dispose_v the_o soul_n to_o a_o sweet_a and_o easy_a benignity_n and_o goodness_n etc._n etc._n wherefore_o i_o say_v i_o will_v endeavour_v to_o introduce_v it_o as_o much_o still_o as_o humane_a nature_n shall_v be_v observe_v to_o be_v capable_a of_o that_o be_v so_o much_o as_o will_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o most_o good_a among_o man_n as_o their_o nature_n or_o affair_n be_v necessary_o constitute_v for_o it_o be_v certain_a the_o employment_n of_o a_o man_n mind_n about_o spiritual_a matter_n may_v be_v too_o much_o so_o that_o it_o may_v waste_v or_o dull_a one_o spirit_n and_o consequent_o render_v one_o less_o sufficient_a to_o apprehend_v well_o and_o be_v affect_v with_o either_o spiritual_a or_o sensible_a all_o suitable_a affection_n to_o acknowledge_v his_o infinite_a perfection_n display_v and_o more_o particular_o to_o commemorate_v that_o part_n of_o his_o providence_n or_o administration_n or_o direction_n and_o government_n of_o the_o affair_n of_o mankind_n viz._n jesus_n come_v among_o we_o from_o he_o for_o our_o redemption_n from_o a_o state_n of_o great_a imperfection_n wickedness_n misery_n by_o his_o doctrine_n life_n gracious_a influence_n procurement_n of_o pardon_n etc._n etc._n all_o this_o also_o with_o agreeable_a affection_n of_o soul_n for_o which_o the_o day_n of_o his_o resurrection_n by_o his_o own_o power_n
and_o most_o of_o the_o great_a importance_n and_o concernment_n not_o but_o that_o there_o may_v be_v some_o time_n or_o other_o too_o in_o which_o we_o may_v mention_v in_o our_o prayer_n many_o lesser_a thing_n thing_n of_o great_a concernment_n and_o use_n must_v in_o proportion_n to_o their_o concernment_n compare_v with_o those_o of_o less_o be_v more_o and_o more_o frequent_a in_o our_o appertain_v more_o immediate_o to_o the_o soul_n those_o among_o spiritual_a one_o which_o concern_v our_o will_n or_o inclination_n and_o in_o order_n thereto_o our_o affection_n call_v general_o by_o the_o name_n of_o sanctification_n or_o regeneration_n purify_n and_o renew_n of_o the_o heart_n or_o in_o one_o word_n usual_o by_o the_o name_n of_o grace_n then_o afterward_o for_o the_o good_a thing_n that_o appertain_v to_o our_o knowledge_n or_o understanding_n as_o quick_a and_o plentiful_a suggestion_n revelation_n illumination_n in_o truth_n of_o the_o great_a excellency_n use_v affection_n for_o god_n their_o sin_n their_o mercy_n their_o want_n and_o most_o of_o all_o do_v they_o want_v invention_n and_o memory_n for_o fit_a word_n and_o speech_n alas_o how_o shall_v they_o know_v to_o express_v themselves_o well_o sometime_o they_o have_v good_a thing_n in_o their_o mind_n but_o they_o can_v speak_v they_o to_o this_o effect_n be_v their_o second_o excuse_n to_o which_o
