last_a riches_n although_o he_o be_v bless_v here_o with_o a_o good_a and_o large_a portion_n of_o these_o outward_a riches_n which_o often_o prove_v such_o snare_n and_o entanglement_n to_o man_n heart_n that_o they_o can_v attend_v to_o god_n for_o the_o true_a yea_o and_o whereas_o common_o rich_a man_n be_v high_a mind_v as_o it_o be_v intimate_v in_o that_o charge_n give_v they_o not_o to_o be_v high_o mind_v 1_o tim._n 6.21_o and_o prove_v great_a hindrance_n of_o man_n enter_v the_o strait_a gate_n because_o man_n be_v apt_a to_o swell_v in_o their_o mind_n up_o to_o the_o soul_n into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n as_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o faithful_a creator_n who_o have_v make_v heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o all_o thing_n therein_o and_o to_o jesus_n christ_n the_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o mind_n well_o what_o you_o have_v hear_v mind_n the_o scripture_n and_o mind_n the_o end_n of_o the_o just_a one_o even_o such_o as_o you_o have_v have_v among_o you_o the_o first_o tell_v you_o that_o the_o righteous_a have_v hope_n in_o his_o death_n the_o other_o have_v experiment_a and_o prove_v it_o and_o rejoice_v in_o affliction_n and_o death_n for_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o glory_n which_o they_o expect_v further_a to_o be_v reveal_v on_o they_o both_o scripture_n and_o their_o experience_n commend_v to_o we_o these_o follow_a instruction_n 1._o take_v notice_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n how_o good_a it_o be_v to_o receive_v by_o faith_n the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n and_o how_o well_o it_o go_v with_o they_o that_o so_o do_v what_o be_v there_o in_o all_o the_o world_n to_o be_v compare_v to_o righteousness_n we_o may_v say_v of_o it_o as_o solomon_n of_o wisdom_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v a_o high_a point_n of_o wisdom_n to_o do_v righteous_o in_o believe_v etc._n prov._n 3_o 14_o 15_o 16_o etc._n etc._n the_o â—â—â—ch_n and_o so_o thereof_o be_v better_a than_o the_o merchandise_n of_o silver_n and_o the_o gain_n thereof_o better_o then_o of_o sine_fw-la gold_n she_o be_v more_o precious_a than_o ruby_n yâ—â—_n all_o that_o thou_o can_v desire_v be_v not_o to_o be_v compare_v to_o she_o she_o be_v a_o tree_n of_o lift_n to_o all_o that_o take_v hold_v of_o she_o etc._n etc._n alas_o how_o empty_a be_v the_o riches_n and_o honour_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n in_o comparison_n of_o righteousness_n they_o may_v make_v a_o man_n frolic_v outward_o in_o this_o life_n and_o yet_o not_o that_o neither_o except_o god_n give_v health_n and_o power_n to_o enjoy_v they_o but_o often_o time_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o that_o jollity_n and_o bravery_n the_o heart_n be_v sad_a the_o conscience_n tear_v and_o break_v and_o alas_o when_o death_n come_v and_o judgement_n appear_v at_o the_o back_n of_o it_o than_o what_o tremble_a then_o except_o the_o conscience_n be_v harden_v sear_a and_o grow_v utter_o careless_a what_o terror_n and_o pang_n of_o despair_n torment_v it_o all_o these_o thing_n that_o the_o world_n so_o much_o prize_n be_v but_o bread_n that_o perish_v they_o may_v perhaps_o make_v we_o a_o little_a glorious_a to_o the_o world_n but_o can_v give_v we_o peace_n with_o nor_o hope_v in_o god_n riches_n deliver_v not_o in_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n but_o righteousness_n this_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v accept_v with_o god_n for_o righteousness_n and_o so_o christ_n receive_v and_o believe_v on_o deliver_v from_o death_n prov._n 11.4_o that_o will_v give_v a_o man_n boldness_n in_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n while_o he_o know_v his_o judge_n be_v his_o righteousness_n and_o will_v protect_v he_o from_o wrath_n and_o vengeance_n oh_o that_o man_n do_v see_v the_o worth_n of_o righteousness_n the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n sure_o than_o they_o will_v not_o trifle_v so_o much_o time_n and_o strength_n and_o talent_n away_o about_o empty_a lie_a vanity_n they_o will_v not_o so_o swell_v with_o conceit_n of_o themselves_o and_o look_v so_o big_a for_o a_o few_o muddy_a riches_n for_o a_o little_a fade_a appear_v worldly_a glory_n they_o will_v not_o be_v so_o cheat_v into_o a_o contentedness_n with_o some_o paint_a show_n of_o righteousness_n formal_a devotion_n so_o much_o religion_n as_o may_v serve_v they_o to_o live_v in_o credit_n with_o man_n and_o lull_v their_o conscience_n asleep_a till_o they_o satisfy_v their_o earnall_a earthly_a desire_n not_o certain_o they_o will_v count_v all_o thing_n but_o loss_n and_o dung_n that_o they_o may_v win_v christ_n and_o enjoy_v he_o for_o their_o righteousness_n well_o friend_n however_o you_o may_v pursue_v after_o other_o thing_n and_o bless_v yourselves_o in_o your_o enjoyment_n possession_n ease_n pleasure_n vanity_n now_o yet_o there_o will_v come_v a_o day_n in_o which_o all_o these_o appear_a deceitful_a you_o will_v wish_v for_o righteousness_n you_o will_v see_v then_o what_o have_v be_v now_o show_v you_o and_o what_o the_o wise_a man_n say_v viz._n that_o the_o righteous_a man_n be_v more_o excellent_a than_o his_o neighbour_n 12.26_o prov._n 12.26_o as_o he_o be_v more_o excellent_a in_o his_o life_n because_o exalt_v in_o christ_n and_o enrich_v with_o he_o and_o his_o privilege_n as_o also_o because_o of_o his_o spirit_n in_o he_o conform_v he_o to_o christ_n and_o put_v something_o of_o heaven_n and_o heavenly_a virtue_n into_o he_o so_o will_v he_o be_v find_v more_o excellent_a in_o his_o death_n when_o his_o heart_n shall_v have_v hope_n and_o rejoice_n in_o wicked_a forsake_v his_o way_n and_o the_o unrighteous_a man_n his_o thought_n and_o return_v to_o the_o lord_n for_o he_o will_v have_v mercy_n etc._n etc._n and_o to_o our_o god_n for_o he_o will_v not_o you_o have_v great_a encouragement_n in_o the_o consideration_n of_o what_o have_v be_v say_v to_o persevere_v to_o the_o death_n and_o not_o shrink_v back_o because_o of_o persecution_n reproach_n threaten_n or_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o you_o be_v expose_v to_o the_o wrath_n and_o malice_n of_o man_n there_o be_v many_o especial_o at_o this_o time_n that_o conspire_v and_o plot_n against_o we_o we_o may_v see_v and_o hear_v how_o they_o band_n themselves_o together_o and_o strengthen_v themselves_o in_o mischief_n to_o root_v out_o from_o the_o earth_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a those_o that_o fear_n god_n and_o desire_n to_o walk_v with_o he_o it_o be_v at_o such_o their_o aim_n be_v most_o and_o their_o envy_n and_o all_o their_o plot_n and_o of_o love_n and_o good_a will_v preach_v and_o hold_v it_o forth_o to_o you_o by_o reject_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n and_o close_v with_o every_o vain_a fantasy_n by_o which_o you_o think_v yourselves_o strengthen_v against_o it_o who_o do_v you_o fight_v against_o in_o oppose_v the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v it_o not_o against_o god_n himself_o and_o be_v it_o not_o against_o your_o own_o not_o in_o your_o own_o light_n neglect_v not_o so_o great_a salvation_n as_o be_v set_v before_o you_o nor_o rest_n in_o such_o a_o notion_n all_o profession_n of_o truth_n as_o leave_v the_o soul_n destitute_a of_o the_o power_n of_o truth_n such_o a_o consent_n to_o it_o and_o profession_n of_o it_o as_o yet_o leave_v the_o soul_n unrighteous_a bring_v it_o not_o into_o christ_n nor_o receive_v not_o the_o power_n and_o spirit_n of_o christ_n into_o it_o let_v not_o love_v of_o the_o world_n and_o worldly_a vanity_n keep_v you_o out_o either_o from_o attend_v to_o and_o receive_v truth_n nor_o from_o submit_v to_o and_o walk_v out_o in_o the_o power_n of_o truth_n perhaps_o you_o be_v rich_a some_o of_o you_o and_o enjoy_v much_o in_o the_o world_n you_o can_v fill_v and_o satiate_v yourselves_o with_o the_o profit_n advantage_n and_o delight_n of_o it_o you_o find_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o satisfaction_n in_o your_o own_o way_n some_o in_o coveteousnes_n other_o in_o pride_n and_o other_o in_o voluptuousness_n etc._n etc._n but_o oh_o consider_v the_o emptiness_n and_o vanity_n of_o all_o these_o satisfaction_n will_v the_o world_n and_o the_o thing_n thereof_o last_o for_o ever_o be_v not_o god_n even_o now_o pour_v out_o whole_a vial_n of_o his_o wrath_n upon_o it_o and_o be_v he_o not_o stain_v the_o pride_n of_o all_o glory_n and_o bring_v to_o contempt_n all_o that_o be_v honourable_a in_o the_o earth_n be_v he_o not_o mar_v the_o form_n of_o it_o and_o cast_v bitterness_n into_o all_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o what_o will_v your_o riches_n profit_v you_o if_o god_n come_v to_o plead_v with_o you_o with_o sword_n famine_n and_o his_o sore_a judgement_n do_v you_o think_v to_o bribe_v his_o wrath_n or_o make_v a_o agreement_n with_o hell_n and_o death_n do_v you_o think_v that_o his_o hand_n will_v not_o find_v you_o out_o or_o do_v you_o think_v your_o riches_n honour_n pleasure_n accommodation_n in_o the_o world_n will_v then_o fill_v your_o soul_n with_o hope_n o_o no_o belove_v these_o thing_n will_v then_o prove_v more_o empty_a vanties_n you_o may_v live_v as_o rich_o and_o sumptuous_o and_o in_o as_o great_a pleasure_n
