that_o be_v set_v down_o in_o the_o scripture_n be_v so_o contrary_a to_o or_o at_o least_o above_o their_o reason_n that_o they_o can_v assent_v to_o they_o yet_o i_o be_o very_o confident_a that_o it_o be_v the_o practical_a truth_n of_o the_o scripture_n that_o they_o stop_v at_o which_o they_o be_v loath_a to_o obey_v they_o be_v fain_o to_o pretend_v or_o by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o another_o and_o to_o their_o enemy_n to_o be_v admire_v and_o commend_v even_o by_o their_o persecutor_n among_o who_o they_o live_v the_o very_a heathen_a can_v see_v a_o beauty_n in_o holiness_n divine_a truth_n for_o that_o will_v make_v they_o much_o more_o outrageous_a and_o malicious_a for_o those_o who_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n convince_v but_o not_o convert_v they_o do_v enrage_v as_o they_o do_v satan_n who_o believe_v and_o as_o it_o do_v those_o who_o commit_v the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o hate_v the_o truth_n they_o know_v be_v the_o great_a and_o most_o himself_o to_o die_v for_o we_o chief_o to_o satisfy_v his_o justice_n as_o also_o to_o satisfy_v we_o of_o his_o love_n and_o it_o be_v not_o easy_a to_o say_v which_o be_v hard_a to_o be_v satisfy_v for_o it_o be_v true_a that_o he_o that_o injure_v forgive_v not_o we_o therefore_o have_v so_o much_o offend_v god_n can_v hardly_o forgive_v he_o that_o be_v believe_v that_o he_o will_v forgive_v we_o he_o therefore_o to_o satisfy_v and_o cure_v our_o infidelity_n give_v we_o his_o only_a son_n to_o die_v for_o we_o to_o give_v we_o a_o infallible_a testimony_n of_o his_o love_n the_o god_n be_v so_o exceed_v great_a that_o we_o can_v believe_v it_o for_o we_o be_v subject_a to_o judge_v of_o god_n by_o ourselves_o and_o therefore_o because_o we_o shall_v never_o suffer_v our_o only_a belove_a child_n to_o die_v a_o miserable_a shameful_a death_n to_o save_v a_o enemy_n therefore_o we_o judge_v that_o god_n can_v do_v so_o neither_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o more_o attain_v to_o any_o considerable_a degree_n of_o that_o authority_n they_o ought_v to_o have_v over_o we_o when_o temptation_n and_o they_o can_v both_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n together_o when_o a_o temptation_n can_v go_v on_o entice_v the_o soul_n to_o sin_n while_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n look_v it_o in_o the_o very_a face_n when_o a_o father_n can_v by_o his_o look_n or_o threat_n or_o call_v for_o or_o shake_v of_o the_o rod_n rule_v his_o child_n unless_o he_o chastise_v they_o it_o show_v he_o have_v either_o lose_v or_o never_o have_v that_o authority_n over_o they_o that_o he_o shall_v so_o when_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n will_v not_o keep_v we_o in_o awe_n but_o we_o go_v on_o sin_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o such_o truth_n it_o show_v they_o have_v little_a power_n over_o we_o 5._o then_o our_o knowledge_n be_v as_o it_o shall_v be_v when_o the_o truth_n we_o know_v have_v that_o weight_n with_o we_o that_o they_o their_o heart_n as_o one_o may_v beat_v lead_v so_o thin_a that_o one_o may_v make_v a_o boat_n of_o it_o that_o it_o shall_v not_o only_o float_v itself_o but_o shall_v keep_v other_o thing_n from_o sink_v chap._n xii_o wherein_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n consist_v as_o to_o humility_n or_o wherein_o christian_a humility_n chief_o consist_v 5._o for_o humility_n the_o excellent_a degree_n deserve_v to_o be_v torture_v to_o death_n with_o the_o exquisite_a torture_n to_o complain_v of_o the_o king_n cruelty_n because_o he_o do_v not_o feed_v he_o and_o clothe_v he_o delicious_o sumptuous_o every_o day_n so_o for_o a_o live_a man_n to_o complain_v etc._n etc._n 2._o when_o we_o be_v unwilling_a that_o any_o one_o shall_v have_v good_a thought_n of_o we_o or_o at_o least_o in_o reference_n to_o ourselves_o and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o duty_n we_o owe_v to_o truth_n the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o edification_n of_o our_o brethren_n we_o will_v never_o vindicate_v ourselves_o from_o any_o slander_n or_o aspersion_n that_o be_v lay_v upon_o we_o many_o do_v with_o so_o much_o violence_n and_o impetuousness_n vindicate_v themselves_o that_o they_o against_o a_o handful_n of_o man_n will_v be_v more_o confident_a of_o get_v the_o victory_n but_o not_o that_o god_n will_v give_v he_o the_o victory_n for_o it_o be_v very_o hard_a to_o have_v a_o arm_n of_o flesh_n and_o not_o to_o trust_v in_o it_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o to_o judge_v of_o our_o hope_n by_o the_o measure_n but_o by_o the_o ground_n of_o our_o confidence_n and_o the_o
