position_n that_o the_o two_o covenant_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o justification_n and_o salvation_n ought_v by_o no_o mean_n to_o be_v confound_v mix_v or_o join_v together_o but_o to_o be_v separate_v from_o each_o other_o at_o the_o great_a distance_n that_o can_v be_v for_o god_n himself_o have_v make_v this_o separation_n 1_o by_o command_v the_o old_a covenant_n to_o be_v cast_v out_o 2_o by_o total_o disinherit_n the_o seed_n thereof_o i._n e._n declare_v that_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o old_a covenant_n shall_v never_o inherit_v the_o father_n inheritance_n either_o in_o whole_a or_o in_o part_n shall_v never_o be_v admit_v as_o sole_a heir_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n no_o nor_o as_o joynt-heir_n with_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o new_a quest_n but_o when_o be_v the_o two_o covenant_n thus_o mix_v or_o join_v together_o answ_n when_o work_n qualification_n or_o condition_n in_o the_o creature_n which_o be_v the_o special_a thing_n require_v in_o the_o old_a covenant_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n hold_v forth_o in_o the_o new_a be_v make_v concause_n of_o our_o justification_n or_o to_o express_v it_o better_o when_o condition_n which_o be_v a_o thing_n proper_a to_o the_o old_a covenant_n and_o grace_n which_o be_v peculiar_a to_o the_o new_a be_v so_o shuffle_v together_o that_o a_o poor_a soul_n can_v see_v his_o justification_n only_o through_o the_o performance_n of_o some_o condition_n in_o such_o manner_n that_o so_o long_o as_o such_o or_o such_o a_o condition_n be_v present_n he_o can_v and_o do_v conclude_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o person_n justify_v by_o grace_n but_o when_o absent_a he_o conclude_v the_o contrary_a that_o he_o be_v a_o miserable_a sinner_n ungodly_a whole_o void_a and_o destitute_a of_o justification_n this_o shuffle_n of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a covenant_n together_o be_v the_o very_a seed_n of_o all_o doubt_v and_o the_o great_a enemy_n that_o can_v be_v to_o the_o life_n of_o faith_n repugnant_a to_o a_o gospel-state_n in_o which_o these_o two_o be_v separate_v and_o contrary_a to_o the_o word_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n which_o command_v the_o separation_n of_o these_o and_o the_o new_a testament_n ministry_n which_o be_v those_o only_a that_o be_v make_v able_a right_o to_o divide_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n i.e._n distinguish_v betwixt_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n the_o old_a and_o new_a covenant_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n paul_n prove_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o able_a minister_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n 2_o cor._n 3._o not_o from_o his_o learning_n or_o part_n or_o his_o be_v bring_v up_o at_o the_o foot_n of_o gamaliel_n but_o from_o hence_o because_o he_o have_v a_o clear_a distinct_a knowledge_n not_o of_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o letter_n or_o the_o old_a covenant_n only_o but_o also_o of_o the_o thing_n of_o both_o letter_n and_o spirit_n i.e._n old_a and_o new_a covenant_n both_o be_v hereby_o able_a to_o judge_v of_o the_o thing_n of_o either_o and_o distinguish_v right_o betwixt_o they_o and_o indeed_o what_o accomplishment_n soever_o a_o man_n may_v have_v otherway_n yet_o be_v not_o that_o man_n fit_a to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n who_o know_v not_o how_o to_o distinguish_v betwixt_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n the_o old_a and_o the_o new_a covenant_n these_o thing_n observe_v upon_o our_o way_n which_o indeed_o be_v worth_a our_o take_a notice_n of_o i_o now_o come_v to_o the_o word_n themselves_o in_o which_o we_o have_v first_o a_o definitive_a sentence_n pass_v by_o god_n that_o the_o bondwoman_n and_o her_o son_n i.e._n the_o old_a covenant_n with_o its_o offspring_n shall_v be_v cast_v out_o cast_v out_o the_o bondwoman_n and_o her_o son_n second_o the_o reason_n of_o pass_v this_o sentence_n that_o hereby_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o bondwoman_n be_v exclude_v the_o sole_a inheritance_n may_v fall_v to_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o freewoman_n i.e._n that_o the_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n be_v the_o true_a and_o only_a heir_n of_o the_o heavenly_a inheritance_n i_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o which_o concern_v the_o old_a covenant_n and_o its_o seed_n and_o in_o prosecution_n thereof_o shall_v treat_v first_o of_o the_o old_a covenant_n itself_o second_o of_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o ott_n covenant_n my_o first_o question_n upon_o the_o
