open_a persecution_n but_o as_o soon_o as_o christianity_n appear_v they_o all_o turn_v their_o hatred_n and_o their_o violence_n against_o it_o as_o against_o a_o religion_n that_o be_v a_o stranger_n and_o of_o a_o quite_o different_a original_n and_o extraction_n from_o they_o who_o be_v able_a to_o report_v the_o furious_a excess_n of_o the_o world_n against_o this_o innocent_a discipline_n and_o the_o horrid_a calamity_n to_o which_o it_o condemn_v the_o professor_n of_o it_o banish_v they_o out_o of_o all_o its_o country_n strip_v they_o of_o all_o its_o honour_n and_o false_a religion_n but_o first_o this_o happen_v not_o save_v when_o long_o use_v and_o the_o superstition_n of_o many_o generation_n have_v authorise_v the_o belief_n of_o they_o whereas_o the_o faithful_a suffer_v for_o christianity_n at_o the_o first_o spring_v forth_o of_o it_o before_o that_o the_o consent_n of_o people_n or_o the_o authority_n of_o prince_n have_v strengthen_v it_o or_o any_o other_o of_o such_o humane_a consideration_n make_v it_o plausible_a then_o again_o those_o suffering_n for_o error_n be_v very_o rare_a they_o be_v the_o suffering_n of_o some_o few_o person_n only_o one_o here_o and_o another_o there_o who_o vanity_n or_o melancholy_n may_v push_v on_o so_o far_o whereas_o christian_n suffer_v by_o thousand_o of_o all_o age_n of_o each_o sex_n of_o every_o rank_n and_o condition_n so_o as_o their_o resolution_n can_v be_v attribute_v to_o no_o other_o motive_n but_o their_o religion_n who_o can_v doubt_v but_o mahometism_n and_o paganism_n will_v have_v be_v immediate_o extinct_a if_o they_o have_v be_v expose_v to_o the_o like_a trial_n whereas_o christianity_n be_v establish_v by_o they_o it_o flourish_v in_o the_o flame_n and_o the_o rude_a shock_n that_o persecution_n give_v it_o the_o deep_a root_n it_o take_v and_o this_o character_n be_v so_o essential_a to_o this_o divine_a discipline_n that_o in_o the_o time_n of_o our_o father_n one_o our_o saviour_n human_a nature_n the_o other_o the_o eternal_a son_n of_o the_o father_n two_o real_a and_o veritable_a subject_n by_o the_o wonderful_a unite_n whereof_o this_o sacred_a and_o adorable_a sanctuary_n of_o god_n be_v make_v up_o and_o compose_v to_o take_v away_o the_o truth_n either_o of_o his_o godhead_n with_o the_o former_a or_o of_o his_o flesh_n with_o the_o latter_a be_v to_o destroy_v the_o fabric_n again_o these_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n do_v in_o like_a manner_n overthrow_v the_o error_n of_o those_o who_o have_v corrupt_v the_o union_n of_o these_o two_o nature_n in_o jesus_n christ_n on_o one_o hand_n by_o divide_v they_o as_o do_v the_o nestorian_n on_o the_o other_o by_o confound_v they_o as_o do_v the_o eutychean_o for_o if_o we_o sever_v jesus_n christ_n into_o two_o person_n the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n will_v not_o dwell_v bodily_a in_o his_o flesh_n this_o man_n will_v have_v but_o gift_n of_o the_o divinity_n which_o be_v as_o it_o be_v some_o draught_n and_o lineament_n of_o it_o he_o will_v not_o have_v the_o truth_n and_o the_o very_a body_n of_o it_o neither_o may_v it_o be_v reply_v that_o the_o temple_n in_o which_o god_n reside_v be_v a_o substance_n different_a from_o his_o person_n for_o the_o body_n be_v the_o residence_n of_o the_o soul_n yet_o soul_n and_o body_n have_v but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o subsistence_n and_o do_v constitute_v but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n so_o as_o the_o dwell_n of_o the_o son_n in_o his_o human_a nature_n as_o in_o his_o temple_n do_v not_o hinder_v but_o that_o this_o human_a nature_n of_o he_o do_v subsist_v with_o he_o in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n yet_o though_o we_o may_v not_o divide_v these_o two_o nature_n of_o our_o lord_n it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o we_o must_v mix_v and_o confound_v they_o as_o they_o do_v who_o define_v the_o union_n of_o they_o by_o the_o human_a nature_n its_o be_v make_v equal_a with_o the_o divine_a and_o will_v have_v it_o to_o be_v become_v infinite_a and_o immense_a and_o endow_v real_o in_o its_o self_n with_o all_o the_o property_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n the_o apostle_n say_v indeed_o that_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n dwell_v in_o christ_n but_o he_o say_v not_o that_o his_o flesh_n be_v real_o change_v into_o the_o godhead_n the_o body_n by_o be_v personal_o unite_v to_o the_o soul_n do_v not_o thereby_o become_v soul_n it_o conserve_v its_o own_o nature_n and_o have_v only_o this_o advantage_n by_o that_o strict_a conjunction_n which_o knit_v it_o with_o the_o remember_v that_o to_o confound_v the_o impiety_n of_o certain_a seducer_n who_o will_v oblige_v christian_n to_o moysaicall_a circumcision_n this_o holy_a man_n allege_v in_o the_o precedent_a text_n that_o we_o have_v in_o jesus_n christ_n that_o substance_n and_o truth_n whereof_o the_o judaical_a circumcision_n be_v but_o the_o shadow_n and_o model_n have_v in_o he_o put_v off_o the_o body_n of_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o flesh_n so_o as_o have_v receive_v through_o the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n this_o mystical_a and_o divine_a circumcision_n the_o other_o carnal_a and_o typical_a one_o be_v altogether_o useless_a to_o we_o and_o can_v be_v desire_v or_o practise_v by_o christian_n without_o wrong_v their_o saviour_n he_o still_o prosecute_v that_o same_o intention_n and_o to_o show_v the_o body_n of_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o flesh_n we_o have_v moreover_o be_v bury_v with_o he_o through_o baptism_n and_o further_o that_o we_o be_v therein_o rise_v again_o with_o he_o through_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o efficiency_n of_o god_n who_o raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a for_o a_o right_a understanding_n of_o these_o word_n we_o be_v to_o consider_v first_o the_o communion_n we_o have_v both_o in_o the_o burial_n and_o resurrection_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o second_o the_o twofold_a mean_n by_o which_o this_o communion_n be_v give_v we_o to_o wit_n baptism_n from_o the_o cross_a alive_a again_o i_o confess_v such_o a_o miracle_n may_v have_v astonish_v and_o transport_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o spectator_n and_o demonstrate_v that_o this_o divine_a crucify_a person_n be_v more_o than_o man_n but_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n it_o will_v have_v render_v his_o death_n suspicious_a and_o without_o doubt_n make_v man_n imagine_v that_o it_o have_v be_v but_o a_o feign_a and_o false_a appearance_n and_o no_o real_a separation_n of_o his_o soul_n from_o his_o body_n which_o opinion_n will_v evident_o have_v shake_v and_o overthrow_v our_o salvation_n it_o be_v entire_o found_v on_o the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n whereas_o therefore_o it_o so_o high_o concern_v we_o to_o believe_v the_o same_o god_n have_v in_o such_o sort_n assure_v and_o certify_v the_o truth_n that_o we_o have_v not_o any_o show_n of_o reason_n to_o call_v it_o in_o question_n for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v his_o will_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n have_v commend_v his_o spirit_n into_o his_o hand_n shall_v be_v lay_v in_o the_o sepulchre_n and_o continue_v there_o three_o day_n there_o remain_v after_o this_o no_o more_o cause_n to_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o be_v true_o dead_a since_o he_o be_v so_o long_a a_o time_n in_o the_o state_n of_o the_o dead_a moreover_o our_o consolation_n require_v that_o he_o shall_v enter_v into_o our_o sepulcher_n to_o take_v away_o for_o we_o the_o horror_n of_o they_o and_o to_o assure_v we_o by_o his_o example_n that_o they_o have_v not_o force_n enough_o to_o detain_v our_o body_n for_o ever_o mystical_a sepulchre_n and_o in_o such_o a_o sense_n it_o may_v be_v say_v two_o manner_n of_o way_n that_o we_o have_v be_v bury_v in_o christ_n or_o with_o christ_n first_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o justification_n that_o be_v the_o remission_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o second_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o sanctification_n and_o the_o mortify_n of_o the_o old_a man_n for_o as_o concern_v the_o first_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v not_o bury_v as_o neither_o be_v he_o crucify_v and_o put_v to_o death_n but_o for_o we_o only_o
other_o but_o now_o the_o lord_n jesus_n have_v abrogate_a this_o adhering_a to_o place_n to_o time_n and_o to_o the_o element_n of_o this_o world_n as_o a_o low_a and_o childish_a exercise_n and_o
