not_o only_o endure_v these_o thing_n for_o we_o but_o that_o we_o in_o a_o despiteful_a manner_n have_v bring_v all_o these_o thing_n upon_o he_o and_o see_v if_o we_o have_v not_o just_a cause_n to_o break_v our_o heart_n asunder_o with_o grief_n at_o the_o thought_n of_o christ_n death_n the_o jew_n hand_n be_v the_o outward_a instrument_n our_o sin_n the_o actor_n they_o cry_v out_o on_o earth_n to_o pilate_n crucify_v he_o crucify_v he_o but_o our_o sin_n cry_v our_o in_o heaven_n to_o god_n much_o loud_o crucify_v he_o crucify_v he_o and_o that_o be_v the_o voice_n that_o prevail_v and_o bring_v he_o to_o that_o shameful_a death_n when_o the_o sinful_a soul_n consider_v this_o with_o itself_o i_o have_v crucify_v the_o lord_n of_o glory_n i_o have_v kill_v the_o lord_n of_o life_n than_o the_o heart_n melt_v and_o relent_v and_o be_v gore_v and_o pierce_v with_o these_o thought_n as_o sensible_o as_o our_o saviour_n body_n be_v with_o the_o nail_n and_o spear_n and_o the_o blood_n do_v not_o more_o free_o gush_v out_o of_o his_o side_n and_o body_n than_o bleed_a tear_n do_v gush_v out_o of_o a_o break_a heart_n and_o wound_a spirit_n of_o a_o poor_a wretched_a sinner_n thus_o affect_v with_o the_o meditation_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n last_o this_o teach_v we_o what_o manner_n of_o remembrance_n of_o christ_n death_n it_o be_v we_o must_v labour_v for_o it_o must_v be_v both_o religious_a and_o affectionate_a the_o jew_n remember_v christ_n death_n but_o not_o religious_o they_o do_v it_o in_o scorn_n and_o hatred_n of_o he_o hypocrite_n remember_v christ_n death_n and_o that_o as_o a_o matter_n of_o religion_n as_o they_o profess_v but_o it_o be_v without_o affection_n and_o without_o truth_n but_o thou_o that_o desire_v to_o remember_v christ_n right_o and_o save_o thou_o must_v labour_v and_o see_v that_o thou_o remember_v he_o religious_o and_o affectionate_o

remember_v it_o with_o thankfulness_n to_o god_n with_o compassion_n to_o christ_n suffering_n with_o hatred_n to_o thy_o own_o sin_n with_o faith_n in_o christ_n precious_a blood_n and_o with_o a_o true_a desire_n and_o endeavour_v to_o be_v like_a to_o he_o in_o his_o death_n by_o thy_o mortification_n how_o wondrous_o do_v man_n err_v touch_v this_o duty_n they_o will_v say_v we_o remember_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o we_o all_o &_o so_o pass_v it_o over_o as_o a_o sleight_n thing_n some_o will_v go_v further_o and_o meditate_v upon_o it_o once_o a_o year_n or_o upon_o good_a friday_n somewhat_o more_o than_o ordinary_a alas_o this_o come_v far_o short_a of_o the_o right_a remembrance_n of_o christ_n death_n whosoever_o thou_o be_v that_o look_v to_o be_v save_v by_o the_o death_n salvation_n the_o end_n of_o the_o twelve_o lecture_n the_o thirteen_o lecture_n upon_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n in_o 1_o cor._n 11.26_o it_o follow_v for_o as_o oft_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o show_v the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v this_o be_v the_o portion_n of_o scripture_n which_o through_o god_n direction_n we_o have_v already_o enter_v into_o for_o our_o preparation_n to_o the_o lord_n table_n and_o the_o next_o sabbath_n god_n will_n 〈◊〉_d we_o purpose_v to_o communicate_v in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n therefore_o according_a to_o our_o wont_a manner_n we_o be_v now_o to_o consider_v of_o some_o meditation_n whereby_o we_o may_v be_v the_o better_o sit_v to_o the_o holy_a participation_n of_o that_o save_a ordinance_n of_o jesus_n christ_n we_o have_v enter_v as_o you_o may_v remember_v into_o these_o word_n already_o and_o have_v show_v the_o drift_n of_o they_o and_o the_o dependence_n of_o they_o with_o that_o which_o go_v before_o we_o show_v you_o the_o part_n of_o they_o that_o this_o verse_n consist_v of_o two_o part_n as_o first_o a_o action_n perform_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n as_o oft_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n second_o a_o caution_n or_o condition_n that_o this_o action_n be_v to_o be_v perform_v withal_o be_v the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n you_o show_v the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v i_o will_v not_o make_v my_o repetition_n of_o that_o which_o i_o have_v speak_v before_o we_o speak_v only_o of_o that_o which_o concern_v the_o coherence_n and_o dependence_n of_o this_o verse_n with_o the_o former_a that_o whereas_o our_o saviour_n say_v in_o the_o verse_n go_v before_o do_v this_o in_o remembrance_n of_o i_o the_o apostle_n say_v here_o as_o oft_o as_o you_o do_v this_o you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v now_o than_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o the_o handle_n of_o the_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n and_o first_o to_o begin_v with_o the_o action_n in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n wherein_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v these_o two_o thing_n first_o the_o part_n of_o the_o action_n the_o eat_n of_o this_o bread_n and_o drink_v of_o this_o cup_n whereby_o the_o apostle_n describe_v the_o lord_n supper_n second_o the_o frequent_v of_o the_o action_n as_o oft_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n the_o part_n of_o the_o action_n be_v the_o eat_n of_o the_o bread_n and_o the_o drink_n of_o th●_n cup._n to_o begin_v with_o that_o there_o be_v sundry_a other_o action_n of_o much_o use_n and_o significancy_n in_o and_o about_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n as_o namely_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o bread_n the_o break_n of_o the_o bread_n the_o distribute_v of_o the_o bread_n and_o such_o like_a but_o because_o that_o this_o here_o the_o eat_n of_o the_o bread_n and_o drink_v of_o the_o cup_n because_o this_o action_n be_v the_o accomplishment_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n for_o all_o that_o be_v do_v beside_o in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n the_o blessing_n of_o the_o bread_n the_o break_n and_o distribute_v of_o it_o tend_v to_o this_o namely_o that_o the_o receiver_n may_v profitable_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o comfortable_o communicate_v this_o that_o the_o apostle_n be_v here_o to_o describe_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n he_o do_v describe_v it_o and_o set_v it_o forth_o by_o a_o matter_n of_o action_n or_o a_o matter_n of_o use_n he_o describe_v the_o sacrament_n itself_o by_o the_o use_n of_o the_o sacrament_n by_o the_o eat_n of_o the_o bread_n and_o the_o drink_n of_o the_o cup._n doctr._n the_o matter_n that_o hence_o we_o be_v to_o observe_v be_v this_o namely_o that_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n as_o well_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o in_o itself_o as_o also_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o it_o to_o we_o do_v whole_o and_o altogether_o consist_v in_o the_o participation_n and_o use_n of_o the_o sacrament_n i_o say_v both_o for_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o and_o likewise_o for_o the_o benefit_n of_o it_o for_o the_o apostle_n speak_v here_o of_o both_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o sacrament_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o rehearsal_n thus_o use_v there_o be_v much_o benefit_n to_o be_v receive_v by_o it_o but_o without_o this_o use_n there_o be_v no_o benefit_n to_o be_v have_v by_o it_o at_o all_o it_o be_v true_a the_o benefit_n
