in_o that_o this_o place_n seem_v most_o alike_o to_o that_o chap._n 6.4_o where_o we_o have_v say_v the_o author_n speak_v proper_o of_o apostate_n but_o the_o former_a sense_n be_v also_o favour_v 1._o in_o that_o the_o word_n sin_n have_v a_o general_a signification_n and_o perhaps_o every_o where_n for_o word_n must_v not_o be_v restrain_v within_o the_o use_n of_o speech_n when_o no_o reason_n constrain_v it_o and_o the_o word_n sin_n in_o the_o place_n of_o john_n 16.9_o have_v of_o itself_o a_o general_a signification_n though_o afterward_o it_o be_v specify_v and_o explicate_v in_o particular_a what_o kind_n of_o sin_n he_o there_o understand_v 2._o from_o the_o occasion_n and_o scope_n of_o the_o author_n for_o before_o he_o have_v admonish_v they_o to_o exhort_v one_o by_o haughtiness_n and_o pride_n of_o mind_n and_o this_o kind_n of_o sin_n be_v oppose_v to_o sin_n commit_v either_o out_o of_o ignorance_n or_o infirmity_n wherefore_o it_o note_v unto_o we_o god_n express_v yet_o it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o it_o have_v be_v express_v see_v the_o prophet_n testify_v that_o god_n utter_v these_o word_n do_v swear_v which_o therefore_o the_o author_n which_o be_v commit_v by_o the_o body_n itself_o not_o as_o if_o these_o do_v not_o also_o defile_v the_o conscience_n but_o because_o open_a sin_n be_v expose_v to_o the_o eye_n and_o censure_n of_o other_o man_n but_o the_o secret_a and_o inward_a sin_n of_o the_o soul_n though_o they_o make_v no_o man_n else_o conscious_a to_o they_o yet_o they_o agitate_v and_o burden_v the_o conscience_n without_o any_o certain_a abode_n and_o become_v a_o stranger_n in_o a_o foreign_a country_n it_o seem_v a_o rash_a enterprise_n for_o a_o man_n to_o prepare_v himself_o for_o a_o journey_n before_o to_o be_v understand_v of_o abraham_n intent_n and_o purpose_n or_o of_o the_o event_n that_o afterward_o fall_v out_o certain_o as_o we_o will_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o abraham_n hope_v to_o have_v from_o god_n some_o life_n and_o happiness_n after_o his_o death_n in_o regard_n he_o know_v the_o great_a goodness_n of_o god_n towards_o his_o servitor_n and_o the_o great_a power_n of_o god_n seem_v natural_a to_o all_o man_n live_v yet_o
like_a case_n shall_v collect_v all_o his_o force_n and_o pursue_v he_o and_o the_o people_n shall_v assault_v they_o by_o force_n of_o arm_n and_o utter_o destroy_v those_o with_o war_n and_o slaughter_n who_o before_o he_o can_v not_o keep_v in_o bondage_n and_o this_o will_v be_v the_o more_o fit_o do_v if_o we_o refer_v it_o to_o his_o purpose_n and_o preparation_n for_o his_o departure_n out_o of_o egypt_n with_o the_o people_n for_o in_o the_o verse_n follow_v the_o author_n mention_n the_o keep_n of_o the_o passeover_n which_o precede_v the_o departure_n of_o the_o israelite_n from_o egypt_n and_o it_o be_v very_o probable_a that_o the_o author_n observe_v the_o order_n of_o time_n he_o endure_v that_o be_v he_o be_v not_o discourage_v at_o the_o trouble_n and_o cross_n which_o hinder_v the_o departure_n of_o the_o people_n out_o of_o egypt_n partly_o by_o the_o offence_n of_o so_o great_a a_o king_n and_o partly_o by_o the_o complaint_n of_o the_o people_n the_o context_n do_v clear_o show_v we_o that_o the_o impersonal_a they_o must_v be_v refer_v to_o the_o person_n of_o moses_n and_o the_o israelite_n because_o they_o only_o be_v the_o person_n that_o pass_v through_o the_o red_a sea_n so_o the_o faith_n here_o specify_v be_v seat_v in_o moses_n yet_o not_o in_o he_o single_o and_o exclusive_o but_o in_o moses_n joint_o with_o the_o israelite_n or_o people_n of_o god_n who_o faith_n herein_o concur_v with_o the_o faith_n of_o moses_n though_o therein_o the_o faith_n of_o moses_n be_v singular_o eminent_a for_o he_o smite_v the_o sinai_n and_o by_o he_o who_o speak_v from_o heaven_n must_v be_v understand_v the_o most_o high_a god_n himself_o for_o he_o that_o by_o himself_o deliver_v law_n on_o earth_n do_v thereby_o show_v that_o he_o be_v not_o the_o most_o high_a god_n for_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o most_o high_a god_n permit_v not_o that_o the_o king_n of_o king_n and_o lord_n of_o lord_n shall_v depart_v from_o his_o inaccessible_a light_n and_o from_o his_o heavenly_a throne_n to_o descend_v down_o upon_o earth_n but_o he_o that_o offer_v himself_o as_o god_n to_o be_v hear_v from_o heaven_n he_o by_o far_o of_o god_n he_o turn_v away_o from_o god_n and_o as_o it_o be_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o he_o who_o refuse_v either_o to_o believe_v or_o obey_v the_o voice_n of_o god_n 26._o who_o voice_n then_o shake_v the_o earth_n from_o these_o word_n it_o seem_v to_o be_v gather_v that_o the_o author_n by_o he_o who_o speak_v on_o earth_n understand_v god_n himself_o for_o here_o he_o mainifest_o attribute_v to_o god_n himself_o the_o shake_a of_o the_o earth_n i._o of_o mount_n sinai_n which_o happen_v at_o the_o publish_n of_o the_o law_n from_o thence_o but_o nothing_o hinder_v why_o this_o action_n may_v not_o be_v ascribe_v both_o to_o god_n and_o to_o the_o angel_n who_o in_o publish_v the_o law_n sustain_v the_o person_n of_o god_n as_o likewise_o that_o speak_a or_o utter_v the_o oracle_n a_o little_a before_o mention_v for_o the_o angel_n proper_o and_o immediate_o do_v both_o shake_v the_o earth_n or_o mountain_n and_o also_o speak_v and_o god_n do_v it_o mediate_o by_o
