punishment_n of_o irrepentant_a sin_v and_o the_o like_a be_v always_o before_o his_o eye_n and_o he_o make_v none_o end_n of_o mind_v himself_o of_o such_o divine_a thing_n as_o may_v frame_v he_o to_o holiness_n there_o be_v a_o natural_a power_n of_o memory_n consist_v in_o the_o ability_n of_o retain_v and_o make_v repetition_n of_o thing_n that_o one_o have_v hear_v or_o see_v this_o ability_n as_o follow_v the_o temperature_n of_o the_o body_n the_o sanctify_a man_n perhaps_o may_v want_v and_o if_o nature_n have_v not_o bestow_v it_o upon_o he_o he_o must_v want_v it_o for_o grace_n do_v not_o add_v a_o great_a natural_a perfection_n to_o the_o power_n of_o man_n soul_n but_o alone_o make_v the_o perfection_n it_o have_v straight_o and_o right_a and_o guide_v they_o to_o god_n ward_n but_o that_o memory_n which_o god_n have_v give_v he_o he_o can_v use_v for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o soul_n to_o godly_a purpose_n in_o all_o the_o sanctify_a performance_n of_o memory_n he_o can_v retain_v good_a thing_n according_a to_o that_o strength_n of_o retainement_n which_o nature_n afford_v he_o but_o that_o that_o he_o do_v retain_v and_o here_o indeed_o he_o show_v his_o memory_n to_o be_v sanctify_v he_o have_v at_o hand_n for_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o soul_n in_o due_a season_n fruitful_o recall_v it_o in_o the_o instant_n of_o tentation_n in_o the_o very_a time_n of_o need_n when_o it_o may_v avail_v he_o to_o resist_v sinful_a suggestion_n of_o satan_n or_o the_o flesh_n and_o to_o quicken_v he_o against_o his_o backwardness_n and_o unwillingnes_n to_o duty_n command_v so_o his_o memory_n become_v a_o principal_a instrument_n of_o order_n both_o to_o his_o heart_n and_o to_o his_o life_n for_o example_n a_o godly_a man_n and_o a_o unregenerate_a come_v both_o to_o one_o sermon_n it_o be_v make_v against_o filthiness_n or_o covetousness_n or_o any_o vice_n as_o it_o fall_v out_o the_o unsanctified_a man_n may_v perhaps_o be_v able_a to_o repeat_v ten_o time_n more_o and_o more_o orderly_a than_o the_o sanctify_a this_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o nature_n not_o of_o grace_n but_o when_o some_o time_n be_v past_a and_o that_o both_o shall_v be_v tempt_v to_o covetousness_n or_o filthiness_n all_o that_o that_o the_o unregenerate_a man_n can_v so_o ready_o repeat_v be_v slip_v quite_o out_o of_o his_o mind_n as_o a_o thing_n careless_o thrust_v into_o a_o corner_n which_o a_o man_n can_v find_v when_o he_o shall_v use_v it_o so_o that_o he_o follow_v the_o sin_n as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v never_o hear_v that_o sermon_n but_o the_o godly_a man_n have_v those_o reason_n &_o proof_n of_o scripture_n which_o he_o be_v able_a to_o carry_v away_o instant_o in_o his_o mind_n repel_v such_o thought_n and_o say_v have_v i_o not_o hear_v what_o a_o sin_n this_o be_v have_v i_o not_o be_v teach_v how_o it_o displease_v god_n so_o by_o this_o his_o holy_a remembrance_n the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v available_a to_o keep_v he_o from_o sin_v or_o at_o least_o after_o to_o raise_v he_o up_o to_o the_o renew_n of_o his_o repentance_n and_o so_o you_o see_v the_o holiness_n of_o a_o christian_a man_n memory_n affection_n 3_o in_o his_o affection_n three_o his_o affection_n be_v also_o sanctify_v and_o set_v in_o good_a order_n by_o the_o virtue_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n infuse_v into_o he_o the_o principal_a affection_n be_v love_n and_o hatred_n fear_n and_o confidence_n joy_n and_o sorrow_n all_o these_o be_v enable_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n with_o a_o new_a power_n of_o exercise_v themselves_o of_o his_o heart_n towards_o he_o that_o he_o have_v rather_o be_v deprive_v of_o all_o that_o be_v dear_a to_o he_o in_o the_o world_n then_o of_o he_o and_o his_o soul_n do_v so_o setle_o steadfast_o solid_o irresistible_o bend_v itself_o to_o be_v one_o with_o he_o that_o this_o inclination_n many_o time_n do_v overweigh_v and_o over-rule_v all_o other_o inclination_n in_o he_o and_o sometime_o he_o can_v but_o even_o break_v forth_o into_o word_n profess_v so_o much_o to_o himself_o as_o david_n i_o love_v the_o lord_n and_o call_v upon_o other_o say_v love_v you_o the_o lord_n wish_v with_o all_o the_o wish_n of_o his_o soul_n that_o himself_o and_o all_o other_o might_n more_o and_o more_o love_v the_o lord_n a_o sanctify_a heart_n stand_v affect_v towards_o god_n even_o as_o the_o lover_n do_v to_o the_o person_n he_o love_v and_o he_o have_v though_o not_o so_o passionate_a because_o the_o object_n be_v spiritual_a yet_o as_o true_a and_o as_o perceivable_a a_o work_n of_o his_o heart_n to_o god_n as_o one_o lover_n have_v to_o the_o other_o and_o as_o to_o god_n so_o he_o be_v likewise_o endue_v with_o charity_n to_o god_n people_n the_o like_n of_o his_o heart_n be_v to_o they_o above_o all_o other_o man_n he_o find_v his_o heart_n move_v with_o good_a will_n to_o none_o so_o much_o as_o to_o the_o saint_n if_o he_o perceive_v the_o beam_n of_o god_n image_n shine_v that_o be_v to_o he_o as_o good_a and_o better_a than_o twenty_o year_n acquaintance_n yea_o it_o surpass_v all_o name_n of_o blood_n and_o alliance_n who_o he_o see_v godly_a he_o he_o prize_v above_o all_o other_o man_n in_o truth_n this_o charity_n do_v then_o show_v its_o warmth_n when_o almost_o the_o breath_n of_o grace_n be_v choke_v by_o vice_n of_o diverse_a kind_n though_o some_o particular_a breach_n may_v cause_v a_o little_a jar_a of_o affection_n between_o a_o godly_a man_n and_o another_o who_o he_o persuade_v himself_o to_o fear_n god_n also_o yet_o he_o can_v but_o feel_v his_o heart_n to_o stand_v towards_o he_o even_o in_o this_o jar_n yea_o let_v a_o christian_a man_n be_v at_o the_o worst_a that_o ever_o he_o can_v be_v and_o go_v as_o far_o
holiness_n if_o i_o can_v attain_v it_o but_o what_o do_v i_o stand_v wish_v i_o have_v be_v tell_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n be_v he_o who_o regenerate_v his_o people_n wherefore_o i_o will_v beg_v at_o his_o hand_n that_o mighty_a and_o save_a work_n of_o his_o spirit_n and_o bold_o i_o may_v do_v it_o for_o christ_n jesus_n have_v promise_v to_o all_o that_o thirst_n that_o if_o they_o no_o man_n be_v exclude_v that_o do_v not_o exclude_v himself_o do_v it_o not_o run_v thus_o every_o one_o that_o ask_v receive_v every_o one_o that_o seek_v find_v and_o therefore_o say_v thou_o to_o thy_o own_o heart_n if_o every_o one_o why_o not_o i_o sure_o i_o will_v ask_v then_o and_o will_v not_o spare_v to_o speed_v by_o spare_v to_o speak_v to_o god_n and_o that_o thou_o may_v yet_o the_o son_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o what_o end_n be_v this_o wash_n but_o to_o assure_v thou_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n work_v like_o water_n to_o thy_o regeneration_n wherefore_o urge_v thou_o the_o lord_n with_o his_o own_o seal_n and_o say_v o_o lord_n what_o better_a evidence_n can_v i_o wish_v thou_o have_v give_v i_o the_o seal_n of_o regeneration_n o_o make_v it_o to_o appear_v thy_o faith_n and_o assure_v thyself_o that_o god_n will_v never_o falsify_v his_o bond_n and_o seal_n he_o will_v wash_v thou_o according_a to_o his_o covenant_n seal_v up_o unto_o thou_o by_o baptism_n in_o very_a deed_n brethren_n it_o be_v a_o absurdity_n to_o imagine_v that_o all_o that_o be_v baptize_v with_o water_n be_v also_o infallible_o regenerate_v but_o yet_o it_o be_v sure_a that_o all_o such_o may_v be_v regenerate_v if_o consider_v what_o this_o seal_n import_v they_o will_v due_o and_o earnest_o seek_v unto_o the_o lord_n for_o performance_n thereof_o this_o be_v &_o he_o know_v not_o how_o to_o deny_v himself_o nor_o his_o covenant_n but_o perhaps_o still_o the_o devil_n may_v be_v busy_a with_o thou_o and_o cast_v some_o quiddity_n and_o subtle_a cavil_n in_o thy_o way_n as_o sometime_o he_o have_v do_v tell_v thou_o that_o if_o thou_o be_v not_o as_o thou_o find_v thyself_o not_o to_o be_v regenerate_v thy_o prayer_n can_v be_v hear_v because_o
