time_n wherein_o he_o will_v reveal_v himself_o to_o these_o again_o but_o as_o yet_o they_o be_v fall_v off_o from_o christ_n though_o they_o have_v the_o truth_n therefore_o what_o may_v we_o think_v of_o ourselves_o and_o if_o any_o man_n think_v that_o we_o be_v better_a than_o the_o jew_n consider_v then_o what_o the_o apostle_n prophesy_v of_o these_o time_n 2_o tim._n 3.1_o 2_o 3_o make_v good_a in_o our_o ear_n and_o in_o our_o eye_n this_o day_n and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o all_o the_o earth_n as_o luke_n 8.15_o there_o be_v four_o sort_n of_o hearer_n leave_v out_o the_o straggler_n that_o will_v never_o come_v to_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n for_o these_o be_v constant_a hearer_n and_o yet_o but_o one_o sort_n good_a and_o yet_o there_o be_v three_o time_n so_o many_o more_o of_o all_o these_o three_o sort_n as_o there_o be_v of_o the_o good_a hearer_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v scarce_o one_o to_o ten_o in_o that_o proportion_n nay_o in_o this_o last_o age_n of_o the_o world_n when_o man_n shall_v be_v full_a of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n ezech._n 47.4_o and_o when_o the_o water_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n shall_v run_v from_o the_o ankle_n to_o it_o come_v from_o faith_n he_o say_v shall_v he_o find_v faith_n on_o the_o earth_n a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o that_o there_o shall_v have_v be_v many_o faithful_a people_n and_o many_o pray_v heart_n but_o if_o there_o have_v be_v any_o christ_n will_v have_v find_v it_o but_o the_o text_n say_v shall_v christ_n find_v faith_n on_o the_o earth_n when_o he_o come_v so_o matth._n 24.38_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o day_n of_o noah_n before_o the_o flood_n man_n do_v eat_v and_o drink_v marry_o and_o give_v in_o marriage_n and_o know_v nothing_o till_o the_o flood_n come_v and_o take_v know_v nothing_o that_o be_v they_o believe_v nothing_o so_o also_o shall_v it_o be_v in_o the_o come_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n they_o shall_v not_o believe_v the_o truth_n of_o his_o come_n nor_o that_o which_o may_v fit_v they_o for_o his_o come_n therefore_o as_o jeremie_n say_v chap._n 5.1_o run_v to_o and_o fro_o by_o the_o street_n of_o jerusalem_n and_o know_v and_o inquire_v in_o the_o open_a place_n thereof_o if_o there_o be_v any_o that_o execute_v judgement_n and_o seek_v the_o truth_n so_o may_v i_o say_v be_v there_o any_o that_o believe_v i_o know_v god_n have_v his_o number_n reason_n which_o especial_o make_v the_o case_n clear_a be_v three_o in_o which_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o this_o great_a work_n be_v hard_o to_o be_v find_v even_o among_o those_o that_o enjoy_v the_o mean_n the_o first_o reason_n be_v this_o reason_n 1_o first_o because_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a difficult_a matter_n to_o convince_v a_o natural_a man_n and_o to_o persuade_v he_o of_o it_o to_o confess_v that_o he_o want_v faith_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o it_o this_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n be_v breed_v and_o have_v his_o abode_n in_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o do_v not_o so_o much_o express_v itself_o in_o the_o next_o work_n but_o in_o some_o base_a work_n and_o yet_o the_o root_n of_o unbelief_n be_v hide_v the_o fruit_n and_o leaf_n and_o branch_n of_o a_o tree_n be_v see_v but_o the_o root_n and_o sap_n of_o it_o be_v hide_v in_o the_o earth_n so_o it_o be_v here_o other_o corruption_n break_v forth_o amain_o as_o the_o drunkard_n stagger_v in_o the_o street_n the_o angry_a man_n rail_v and_o rage_v against_o god_n people_n and_o the_o blasphemer_n echo_n and_o breath_n out_o his_o oath_n that_o a_o man_n can_v scarce_o have_v any_o wholesome_a breathe_n by_o he_o and_o the_o covetous_a man_n oppress_v and_o the_o poor_a complain_v of_o it_o these_o be_v all_o outside_n sin_n and_o because_o every_o man_n can_v see_v these_o therefore_o he_o be_v the_o more_o easy_o convince_v of_o these_o and_o say_v i_o confess_v it_o be_v so_o and_o so_o but_o yet_o no_o man_n be_v without_o sin_n etc._n etc._n but_o unbelief_n be_v like_o a_o canker_n in_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v breed_v in_o the_o bowel_n and_o therefore_o a_o man_n be_v hardly_o convince_v of_o it_o and_o hardly_o make_v to_o set_v down_o himself_o this_o way_n and_o to_o confess_v that_o he_o want_v faith_n and_o as_o this_o sin_n be_v most_o secret_a so_o it_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o spiritual_a wickedness_n and_o it_o have_v a_o kind_n of_o refine_a villainy_n and_o have_v secret_a passage_n of_o its_o own_o as_o a_o man_n know_v not_o the_o way_n of_o a_o ship_n in_o the_o sea_n or_o discern_v the_o slide_n of_o a_o serpent_n upon_o a_o stone_n so_o also_o there_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o spiritual_a slide_n away_o from_o god_n and_o from_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v not_o see_v to_o other_o nay_o scarce_o can_v it_o be_v know_v to_o a_o man_n self_n all_o other_o corruption_n be_v very_o troublesome_a and_o disquiet_v a_o man_n most_o wonderful_o as_o envy_n eat_v out_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o adulterer_n burn_v and_o boil_v in_o his_o lust_n and_o the_o covetous_a man_n can_v sleep_v and_o so_o forth_o these_o be_v boisterous_a in_o a_o man_n soul_n therefore_o a_o man_n can_v but_o see_v they_o plain_o and_o so_o it_o carry_v the_o heart_n to_o outward_a thing_n but_o this_o unbelief_n slide_v off_o secret_o from_o god_n and_o from_o the_o promise_n and_o from_o the_o truth_n which_o be_v spiritual_a so_o that_o a_o man_n can_v see_v his_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o
i_o a_o unfaithful_a man_n yet_o and_o do_v not_o i_o and_o my_o wife_n and_o my_o family_n want_v faith_n yet_o oh_o that_o i_o can_v know_v who_o they_o be_v in_o particular_a that_o want_n faith_n thâ—â—_n we_o may_v know_v what_o to_o hold_v ourselves_o to_o noâ—_n i_o will_v refer_v they_o to_o these_o four_o sort_n the_o first_o be_v the_o ignorant_a person_n the_o second_o be_v the_o carnal_a gospeller_n the_o three_o be_v the_o mere_a civilise_a or_o the_o judicious_a professor_n and_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o great_a reach_n for_o judgement_n and_o part_n and_o haply_o able_a to_o put_v a_o minister_n to_o a_o set_n and_o yet_o have_v nothing_o in_o thâ—_n world_n in_o he_o touch_v the_o power_n of_o faith_n four_o the_o counterfeit_n that_o have_v make_v a_o vizard_n of_o faith_n and_o have_v his_o alchemy_n faith_n as_o i_o tolâ—_n you_o the_o alchemist_n have_v that_o skill_n to_o make_v alcâ—â—mie_n silver_n and_o so_o cunning_o that_o it_o will_v beâ—â—_n touch_v but_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o true_a because_o it_o will_v 〈◊〉_d hear_v the_o fire_n and_o the_o hammer_n so_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o copper_n faith_n in_o england_n not_o that_o i_o speak_v against_o the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n for_o we_o be_v to_o bless_v god_n that_o have_v give_v the_o king_n a_o heart_n to_o maintain_v it_o but_o i_o speak_v of_o that_o copper_n and_o counterfeit_a faith_n which_o many_o have_v frame_v to_o themselves_o which_o be_v not_o good_a for_o if_o trouble_n and_o day_n of_o persecution_n shall_v come_v they_o will_v forsake_v god_n and_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n and_o all_o sort._n 1_o now_o for_o the_o ignorant_a person_n the_o ignorant_a man_n be_v a_o unfaithful_a man_n i_o do_v not_o mean_v a_o weak_a and_o a_o feeble_a christian_a and_o one_o that_o have_v small_a and_o mean_a part_n than_o other_o have_v for_o we_o all_o know_v but_o in_o part_n even_o the_o best_a of_o god_n people_n and_o the_o choice_a of_o god_n minister_n they_o know_v but_o in_o part_n but_o i_o mean_v such_o as_o be_v gross_o and_o careless_o and_o wilful_o ignorant_a as_o we_o be_v pester_v with_o they_o and_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o my_o fellow-brethren_n find_v much_o to_o do_v with_o they_o in_o other_o place_n they_o be_v content_a to_o go_v up_o and_o down_o as_o the_o horse_n in_o the_o mill_n and_o yet_o know_v nothing_o ask_v they_o what_o be_v god_n name_n and_o what_o it_o be_v to_o hallow_v it_o and_o what_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v by_o the_o come_n of_o god_n kingdom_n they_o know_v nothing_o at_o all_o and_o they_o be_v wilful_o ignorant_a and_o do_v not_o labour_v to_o get_v knowledge_n neither_o do_v they_o mourn_v for_o the_o want_n of_o it_o this_o gross_a ignorance_n be_v thus_o much_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v other_o man_n to_o help_v they_o nor_o they_o be_v not_o able_a nor_o willing_a to_o help_v themselves_o many_o come_v to_o our_o sermon_n it_o be_v little_a they_o understand_v but_o it_o be_v less_o they_o remember_v and_o if_o a_o minister_n come_v home_o to_o their_o family_n and_o catechin_n they_o oh_o say_v they_o we_o be_v past_a child_n we_o be_v not_o schoolboy_n ever_o you_o can_v help_v yourselves_o nor_o you_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o help_v you_o you_o be_v thus_o ignorant_a and_o this_o ignorance_n &_o faith_n can_v stand_v together_o be_v not_o it_o be_v that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n and_o grace_n as_o these_o substantial_a truth_n of_o salvation_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o be_v as_o a_o seal_a letter_n to_o they_o take_v away_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o name_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o name_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o truth_n that_o be_v under_o these_o name_n and_o the_o most_o ignorant_a creature_n understand_v they_o not_o it_o be_v almost_o impossible_a to_o think_v that_o man_n shall_v be_v so_o desperate_o ignorant_a you_o that_o be_v master_n of_o family_n when_o you_o come_v home_o catechise_v your_o family_n and_o see_v whether_o they_o be_v thus_o or_o no_o this_o may_v be_v where_o faith_n be_v not_o yet_o faith_n can_v be_v where_o save_v knowledge_n be_v not_o in_o some_o measure_n i_o mean_v where_o the_o knowledge_n of_o spiritual_a truth_n be_v not_o which_o may_v reveal_v to_o the_o soul_n the_o way_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o mean_n how_o to_o get_v it_o i_o take_v it_o that_o these_o three_o thing_n must_v beeâ—_n some_o measure_n apprehend_v of_o every_o man_n that_o have_v any_o faith_n first_o he_o must_v have_v a_o through_o knowledge_n of_o 〈◊〉_d sin_n and_o of_o the_o want_n of_o faith_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o all_o second_o he_o must_v have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o excellency_n and_o goodness_n of_o a_o christ_n which_o he_o want_v and_o he_o must_v know_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o good_a thing_n in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n which_o the_o soul_n now_o inform_v of_o sin_n and_o feel_v himself_o lose_v he_o find_v a_o supply_n there_o again_o he_o must_v be_v thorough_o inform_v in_o the_o way_n how_o he_o may_v come_v to_o christ_n all_o these_o three_o must_v be_v and_o be_v learn_v of_o every_o faithful_a soul_n that_o ever_o do_v or_o ever_o shall_v believe_v for_o that_o which_o a_o man_n see_v not_o nor_o know_v not_o of_o he_o can_v never_o believe_v and_o when_o a_o man_n know_v not_o the_o excellency_n and_o goodness_n of_o christ_n he_o will_v not_o rely_v his_o whole_a life_n and_o salvation_n upon_o he_o special_o if_o he_o be_v wise_a and_o judicious_a and_o faith_n be_v a_o judicious_a grace_n they_o that_o know_v thy_o name_n will_v trust_v in_o thou_o say_v david_n and_o therefore_o those_o that_o know_v not_o god_n name_n can_v trust_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o see_v what_o christ_n say_v â—o_o the_o woman_n of_o samaria_n john_n 4.10_o a_o silly_a woman_n she_o be_v and_o therefore_o see_v what_o our_o saviour_n say_v to_o she_o thou_o poor_a silly_a creature_n that_o ignorance_n of_o thou_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o thy_o pride_n for_o have_v thou_o know_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o who_o it_o be_v that_o say_v unto_o thou_o give_v i_o drink_v thou_o will_v have_v ask_v of_o he_o and_o he_o will_v have_v give_v thou_o water_n of_o life_n have_v she_o know_v this_o she_o will_v have_v ask_v it_o it_o be_v such_o a_o knowledge_n as_o will_v bring_v in_o faith_n you_o that_o be_v ignorant_a be_v humble_v for_o this_o great_a sin_n of_o you_o which_o do_v bar_n out_o faith_n you_o that_o know_v not_o christ_n though_o you_o meet_v he_o look_v as_o it_o be_v with_o man_n in_o darkness_n exodus_fw-la 10.23_o when_o the_o lord_n send_v that_o plague_n of_o darkness_n upon_o the_o land_n of_o egypt_n the_o egyptian_n see_v not_o one_o another_o neither_o do_v any_o man_n remove_v from_o his_o place_n for_o three_o day_n there_o be_v no_o passage_n all_o that_o while_n so_o it_o be_v with_o a_o ignorant_a man_n that_o sit_v in_o egyptian_a darkness_n he_o seâ—s_v not_o the_o way_n nor_o he_o can_v find_v it_o nor_o he_o have_v no_o power_n to_o go_v on_o in_o it_o he_o sit_v still_o and_o yonder_o be_v christ_n and_o grace_n but_o he_o can_v stir_v one_o foot_n for_o he_o be_v fasten_v to_o his_o sin_n and_o rivet_v to_o his_o corruption_n by_o reason_n of_o his_o blindness_n see_v what_o the_o apostle_n say_v ephes_n 4.18_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o life_n of_o god_n from_o all_o that_o goodness_n and_o holiness_n that_o be_v in_o god_n for_o that_o be_v god_n life_n his_o mercy_n goodness_n wisdom_n holiness_n etc._n etc._n but_o how_o come_v they_o so_o through_o the_o ignorance_n that_o be_v in_o they_o you_o that_o know_v how_o ignorant_a your_o husband_n be_v at_o home_n and_o how_o ignorant_a your_o child_n be_v go_v home_o and_o mourn_v for_o yourselves_o and_o they_o and_o say_v we_o be_v stranger_n from_o god_n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o mercy_n and_o grace_n in_o christ_n but_o we_o be_v all_o stranger_n to_o it_o why_o because_o we_o be_v carnal_o ignorant_a we_o be_v a_o thousand_o mile_n off_o from_o he_o and_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v any_o part_n in_o he_o continue_v thus_o you_o that_o be_v thus_o be_v humble_v and_o ashamed_a of_o it_o &_o give_v no_o rest_n to_o your_o soul_n before_o the_o lord_n awaken_v you_o and_o let_v you_o see_v the_o want_n of_o this_o bless_a grace_n and_o make_v you_o labour_v to_o get_v it_o a_o ignorant_a heart_n be_v a_o wicked_a heart_n and_o if_o you_o be_v ignorant_a it_o be_v certain_a you_o have_v no_o faith_n for_o except_o you_o will_v deny_v the_o word_n of_o god_n you_o
and_o never_o rest_n till_o you_o get_v this_o bless_a grace_n of_o faith_n that_o you_o may_v be_v happy_a by_o it_o for_o ever_o sort._n 3_o the_o three_o sort_n which_o we_o will_v meddle_v withal_o and_o discover_v that_o have_v no_o part_n in_o this_o save_a faith_n be_v the_o mere_a civilise_a and_o seem_o judicious_a professor_n such_o as_o bear_v up_o themselves_o marvellous_a comfortable_o upon_o their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o judgement_n howsoever_o these_o have_v a_o name_n yet_o it_o be_v but_o a_o name_n and_o no_o more_o and_o for_o this_o man_n that_o we_o may_v discover_v he_o and_o that_o he_o may_v know_v himself_o we_o will_v do_v it_o in_o three_o thing_n first_o i_o will_v show_v he_o in_o his_o fashion_n second_o wherein_o his_o falseness_n do_v appear_v and_o wherein_o he_o fall_v short_a three_o wherein_o he_o discover_v himself_o to_o fall_v short_a first_o he_o be_v a_o man_n that_o will_v deal_v very_o honest_o and_o fair_o between_o man_n and_o man_n he_o be_v not_o scandalous_a in_o his_o practice_n he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o good_a part_n and_o deep_a understanding_n and_o deep_a reach_n if_o you_o will_v believe_v he_o and_o he_o exceed_v the_o most_o nay_o even_o the_o best_a in_o his_o private_a pain_n he_o be_v very_o studious_a and_o read_v much_o and_o can_v remember_v well_o and_o can_v express_v himself_o marvellous_a well_o and_o so_o will_v carry_v all_o before_o he_o nay_o this_o man_n be_v so_o lift_v up_o in_o his_o imagination_n that_o he_o can_v almost_o undertake_v to_o teach_v minister_n how_o to_o preach_v if_o any_o man_n out_o of_o weakness_n will_v condescend_v to_o he_o but_o if_o you_o follow_v he_o home_o to_o his_o family_n there_o he_o pray_v but_o once_o a_o week_n and_o if_o misery_n and_o sorrow_n and_o affliction_n come_v than_o haply_o he_o can_v pray_v twice_o unless_o some_o carnal_a base_a friend_n come_v into_o his_o family_n which_o haply_o will_v scorn_v he_o and_o his_o profession_n than_o he_o pray_v once_o and_o scarce_o that_o because_o he_o will_v not_o offend_v his_o friend_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o poor_a people_n make_v this_o man_n a_o oracle_n and_o this_o man_n word_n and_o judgement_n and_o determination_n they_o be_v of_o great_a weight_n and_o if_o a_o poor_a soul_n which_o can_v dive_v deep_o into_o his_o own_o heart_n come_v and_o question_n his_o faith_n and_o to_o make_v some_o doubt_n of_o his_o grace_n all_o be_v in_o a_o uproar_n present_o what_o say_v they_o such_o a_o man_n have_v no_o faith_n the_o lord_n be_v merciful_a to_o we_o then_o if_o a_o man_n of_o such_o judgement_n and_o part_n have_v no_o faith_n then_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o this_o man_n word_n cast_v the_o balance_n any_o way_n and_o his_o word_n be_v of_o great_a weight_n among_o the_o vulgar_a sort_n of_o people_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o poor_a ignorant_a creature_n bear_v up_o themselves_o upon_o this_o man_n judgement_n and_o say_v they_o for_o a_o man_n to_o pray_v twice_o a_o day_n it_o be_v not_o require_v and_o it_o be_v more_o than_o be_v needful_a and_o if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o mind_n to_o stay_v at_o home_n may_v he_o not_o read_v the_o word_n in_o his_o own_o house_n and_o get_v as_o much_o good_a by_o it_o as_o by_o go_v to_o church_n wise_a than_o we_o think_v so_o and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o so_o do_v you_o think_v such_o a_o man_n will_v profess_v it_o a_o man_n of_o part_n and_o good_a judgement_n and_o many_o time_n god_n own_o servant_n out_o of_o the_o sight_n of_o their_o own_o weakness_n and_o the_o discouragement_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o when_o they_o see_v themselves_o so_o far_o outbid_v by_o their_o part_n than_o they_o have_v such_o a_o one_o in_o a_o high_a account_n and_o prefer_v he_o above_o themselves_o by_o many_o degree_n now_o see_v the_o guise_n of_o this_o man_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o this_o man_n fall_v in_o love_n with_o himself_o and_o be_v lift_v up_o into_o a_o fool_n paradise_n and_o he_o begin_v to_o admire_v at_o himself_o and_o for_o any_o matter_n of_o faith_n he_o do_v not_o question_v it_o what_o a_o man_n of_o such_o wisdom_n and_o such_o understanding_n what_o not_o he_o faith_n he_o make_v no_o question_n he_o can_v miss_v of_o faith_n and_o so_o he_o go_v away_o comfortable_o and_o content_o thus_o you_o see_v the_o faith_n of_o this_o man_n second_o we_o come_v to_o view_v and_o to_o see_v where_o he_o fall_v short_a now_o you_o see_v he_o oh_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v make_v he_o see_v himself_o and_o brethren_n observe_v thus_o much_o few_o of_o these_o man_n be_v ever_o bring_v home_o by_o the_o powerful_a preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o their_o own_o wisdom_n they_o rear_v up_o bulwark_n against_o the_o word_n of_o truth_n that_o it_o sink_v not_o into_o their_o heart_n therefore_o to_o make_v this_o man_n know_v to_o himself_o observe_v thus_o much_o in_o the_o general_a the_o baseness_n of_o this_o man_n faith_n for_o it_o be_v no_o better_o but_o that_o he_o be_v delude_v that_o he_o can_v see_v it_o it_o discover_v itself_o thus_o it_o be_v breed_v in_o his_o book_n and_o in_o his_o judgement_n and_o go_v no_o further_o and_o it_o be_v far_o from_o save_v faith_n therefore_o that_o the_o indictment_n may_v lie_v clear_a and_o that_o we_o may_v outbid_v he_o in_o his_o book_n learning_n and_o all_o know_v thus_o much_o the_o main_a ground_n of_o this_o man_n mistake_n may_v be_v discover_v thus_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n first_o illumination_n second_o application_n as_o we_o term_v it_o illumination_n not_o only_o be_v when_o a_o man_n have_v the_o common_a rumour_n and_o intimation_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n and_o know_v the_o reason_n of_o the_o text_n and_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o scripture_n this_o the_o reprobate_n may_v have_v and_o this_o he_o have_v but_o there_o be_v also_o a_o operation_n of_o the_o spirit_n upon_o the_o affection_n and_o then_o there_o come_v a_o application_n wherein_o the_o soul_n go_v out_o to_o the_o promise_n and_o take_v that_o for_o his_o good_a which_o be_v thereunto_o appoint_v now_o observe_v this_o judicious_a man_n he_o have_v a_o general_a apprehension_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o as_o for_o that_o special_a work_n upon_o the_o will_n and_o to_o enter_v in_o upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n and_o to_o have_v the_o sap_n and_o sweet_a of_o these_o and_o to_o go_v out_o to_o christ_n and_o to_o take_v all_o from_o christ_n he_o be_v a_o stranger_n to_o this_o and_o it_o go_v beyond_o all_o his_o book_n learning_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o when_o the_o minister_n come_v to_o handle_v these_o point_n he_o say_v the_o minister_n be_v something_o confuse_v to_o day_n and_o the_o reason_n why_o he_o faith_n so_o it_o be_v because_o he_o do_v not_o understand_v they_o these_o man_n be_v ignorant_a in_o the_o spiritual_a turn_n of_o the_o heart_n john_n 3.8_o 9_o when_o christ_n come_v to_o teach_v nicodemus_n he_o be_v at_o a_o loss_n and_o think_v that_o christ_n speak_v without_o book_n therefore_o christ_n read_v the_o lecture_n again_o and_o say_v i_o speak_v of_o the_o spiritual_a work_n that_o which_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o flesh_n be_v flesh_n and_o that_o which_o be_v bear_v of_o the_o spirit_n be_v spirit_n oh_o say_v he_o how_o can_v these_o thing_n be_v he_o can_v not_o gainsay_v christ_n and_o yet_o because_o he_o can_v not_o understand_v it_o therefore_o he_o will_v not_o yield_v so_o it_o be_v with_o this_o man_n it_o befall_v this_o man_n as_o it_o be_v with_o some_o wise_a lawyer_n he_o read_v over_o a_o man_n writing_n and_o the_o lease_n and_o he_o rehearse_v the_o tenor_n upon_o which_o the_o land_n be_v hold_v and_o what_o right_a the_o man_n have_v to_o they_o he_o lay_v open_v all_o the_o question_n of_o the_o law_n and_o he_o read_v his_o name_n in_o the_o will_n and_o yet_o he_o never_o read_v his_o own_o name_n there_o nor_o any_o right_n that_o he_o have_v to_o they_o just_o so_o it_o be_v with_o this_o judicious_a professor_n he_o be_v able_a to_o dispute_v of_o the_o main_a point_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o show_v that_o other_o have_v right_a to_o they_o and_o he_o read_v the_o writing_n but_o never_o come_v to_o partake_v of_o they_o himself_o as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o wise_a man_n that_o come_v to_o inquire_v for_o christ_n
i_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o yet_o because_o i_o have_v no_o faith_n i_o be_o now_o cast_v down_o to_o hell_n it_o be_v thus_o much_o when_o the_o lord_n let_v in_o a_o glimpse_n of_o the_o exelencie_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n and_o the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o all_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o the_o lord_n let_v in_o a_o glimpse_n of_o all_o these_o which_o go_v home_o to_o the_o top_n of_o the_o affection_n and_o will_v that_o the_o lord_n by_o a_o spiritual_a kind_n of_o flash_n sudden_o pass_v by_o the_o will_n so_o that_o he_o leave_v some_o kind_n of_o dew_n and_o some_o remembrance_n of_o those_o glorious_a thing_n which_o be_v thus_o let_v in_o upon_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o poor_a sinner_n insomuch_o that_o his_o heart_n be_v marvellous_o tickle_v and_o ravish_v with_o it_o i_o express_v it_o thus_o as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o water_n in_o a_o stand_a pool_n and_o the_o water_n that_o run_v through_o a_o pipe_n the_o stand_a water_n soak_v and_o go_v downward_o and_o settle_v inward_o in_o the_o earth_n but_o the_o water_n that_o pass_v by_o sudden_o leave_v only_o a_o little_a dew_n behind_o it_o but_o soak_v not_o at_o all_o so_o it_o be_v with_o this_o temporary_a believer_n the_o stream_n of_o the_o heavenly_a truth_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n pass_v by_o sudden_o as_o namely_o that_o jesus_n christ_n come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o save_v sinner_n and_o that_o christ_n come_v to_o take_v away_o the_o iniquity_n of_o his_o servant_n this_o do_v pass_v by_o sudden_o and_o leave_v a_o little_a dew_n behind_o it_o so_o that_o he_o say_v oh_o this_o be_v good_a this_o be_v sweet_a i_o may_v be_v save_v too_o may_v i_o not_o oh_o i_o never_o hear_v a_o man_n speak_v so_o comfortable_o this_o word_n bedew_v the_o heart_n a_o little_a but_o it_o soak_v not_o down_o it_o go_v not_o to_o the_o root_n of_o the_o soul_n &_o therefore_o observe_v it_o this_o be_v a_o work_n which_o the_o hypocrite_n may_v have_v only_o observe_v thus_o much_o he_o sip_v of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n and_o make_v a_o meal_n of_o his_o corruption_n but_o the_o gracious_a man_n only_o sip_v of_o his_o corruption_n and_o make_v a_o meal_n of_o grace_n of_o holiness_n &_o mercy_n in_o christ_n look_v as_o it_o be_v with_o seed_n that_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o womb_n of_o a_o woman_n the_o seed_n be_v enough_o to_o beget_v some_o fruit_n but_o if_o the_o womb_n be_v a_o miscarry_v womb_n it_o come_v to_o nothing_o so_o it_o be_v between_o the_o stir_n of_o the_o word_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o poor_a saint_n and_o in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n work_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n by_o the_o word_n and_o be_v able_a to_o moisten_v he_o but_o the_o heart_n miscarry_v in_o the_o work_n and_o resist_v and_o gainsay_v and_o never_o come_v to_o any_o good_a he_o never_o come_v to_o be_v a_o faithful_a man_n right_o proportion_v whereas_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o god_n work_v right_o upon_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o believer_n it_o make_v he_o a_o very_a proportionable_a christian_a the_o other_o remain_v but_o a_o confuse_a lump_n now_o see_v what_o this_o man_n may_v do_v when_o he_o come_v to_o this_o let_v he_o be_v thus_o bedew_v with_o this_o taste_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o faith_n and_o never_o have_v faith_n strengthen_v and_o root_v in_o he_o yet_o he_o will_v be_v very_o eager_a in_o the_o pursuit_n of_o the_o word_n and_o marvellous_a constant_a in_o attend_v upon_o the_o word_n because_o it_o be_v his_o delight_n and_o he_o will_v be_v marvellous_a painful_a to_o get_v the_o word_n for_o a_o man_n will_v do_v any_o thing_n to_o get_v his_o delight_n and_o he_o may_v be_v angry_a with_o such_o as_o will_v hinder_v he_o in_o the_o pursuit_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v his_o delight_n this_o a_o man_n may_v do_v and_o yet_o all_o come_v to_o nothing_o and_o so_o may_v perish_v everlasting_o for_o look_v what_o joy_n and_o delight_n will_v do_v for_o a_o push_n the_o same_o a_o carnal_a temporary_a may_v do_v but_o that_o this_o man_n will_v do_v all_o this_o it_o be_v plain_a of_o this_o kind_n be_v balaam_n that_o wretched_a man_n of_o who_o you_o may_v see_v divers_a passage_n in_o the_o 23._o 24._o chapter_n of_o number_n he_o be_v a_o witch_n beyond_o the_o judicious_a professor_n oh_o say_v he_o i_o have_v a_o relish_n of_o the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n and_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n and_o my_o a_o thousand_o mile_n off_o from_o faith_n i_o never_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v thus_o enlighten_v and_o to_o be_v wound_v for_o sin_n i_o can_v commit_v sin_n and_o play_v with_o sin_n but_o i_o never_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v wound_v for_o sin_n i_o never_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v zealous_a in_o a_o good_a course_n there_o be_v many_o strict_a truth_n that_o i_o have_v not_o a_o heart_n to_o receive_v i_o confess_v i_o have_v no_o faith_n now_o if_o you_o yield_v this_o than_o there_o be_v some_o hope_n that_o you_o may_v get_v out_o therefore_o take_v this_o advice_n go_v to_o some_o faithful_a humble_a experience_a christian_a and_o to_o some_o faithful_a minister_n and_o entreat_v they_o to_o advise_v you_o how_o to_o get_v faith_n but_o do_v not_o go_v to_o a_o faithless_a heart_n that_o have_v no_o savour_n of_o grace_n nor_o goodness_n in_o he_o how_o can_v he_o tell_v that_o which_o he_o never_o have_v experience_n of_o make_v privy_a search_n whether_o ever_o you_o have_v grace_n or_o no_o and_o if_o not_o then_o labour_v to_o know_v the_o way_n how_o to_o come_v to_o it_o if_o a_o man_n state_n do_v lie_v at_o hazard_n he_o will_v have_v every_o man_n opinion_n and_o he_o will_v inquire_v of_o this_o man_n and_o that_o man_n whether_o his_o evidence_n be_v sound_a and_o his_o title_n good_a and_o he_o will_v spare_v for_o no_o pain_n not_o cost_n much_o more_o shall_v we_o do_v it_o for_o the_o title_n of_o eternal_a life_n there_o be_v much_o counterfeit_a faith_n in_o the_o world_n and_o thousand_o perish_v upon_o this_o ground_n like_a mote_n in_o the_o sun_n and_o never_o know_v where_o they_o be_v till_o they_o be_v in_o hell_n therefore_o go_v to_o the_o lord_n by_o prayer_n ask_v the_o counsel_n of_o some_o as_o a_o matter_n of_o course_n a_o duty_n reserve_v for_o a_o rainy_a day_n as_o sometime_o i_o have_v observe_v here_o in_o the_o country_n they_o will_v delay_v their_o base_a service_n their_o lesser_a necessity_n for_o a_o rainy_a day_n when_o they_o can_v do_v nothing_o else_o but_o o_o let_v we_o count_v it_o the_o most_o necessary_a duty_n and_o not_o to_o reserve_v faith_n for_o a_o believe_v natural_o if_o it_o be_v in_o my_o power_n to_o go_v to_o christ_n when_o i_o listen_v why_o shall_v i_o use_v all_o mean_n and_o receive_v ability_n to_o do_v that_o which_o i_o can_v do_v by_o my_o own_o power_n and_o this_o i_o take_v to_o be_v one_o main_a ground_n why_o the_o endeavour_n of_o man_n be_v take_v off_o from_o attend_v and_o why_o the_o labour_n of_o christian_n be_v take_v off_o from_o seek_v often_o this_o bless_a precious_a grace_n of_o faith_n there_o be_v many_o ground_n why_o man_n be_v drive_v to_o this_o kind_n of_o conceit_n there_o be_v many_o reason_n that_o make_v way_n for_o this_o conceit_n as_o first_o to_o believe_v be_v a_o spiritual_a thing_n between_o god_n and_o thy_o own_o soul_n to_o pray_v and_o reform_v belong_v to_o the_o outward_a practice_n but_o to_o believe_v be_v a_o closure_n of_o the_o heart_n with_o a_o entertain_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o truth_n and_o the_o give_a way_n of_o our_o soul_n thereunto_o now_o because_o man_n can_v see_v their_o faith_n therefore_o no_o man_n will_v yield_v but_o he_o do_v believe_v second_o man_n conceive_v that_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n to_o take_v of_o mercy_n from_o christ_n and_o say_v they_o be_v there_o any_o man_n that_o will_v not_o have_v mercy_n be_v it_o such_o a_o hard_a matter_n to_o receive_v favour_n offer_v or_o to_o take_v a_o gift_n when_o it_o be_v tender_v unto_o we_o three_o these_o do_v apprehend_v that_o the_o assent_v to_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n wherein_o be_v reveal_v the_o riches_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v all_o that_o be_v require_v in_o faith_n when_o the_o lord_n say_v he_o have_v send_v his_o son_n into_o the_o world_n that_o he_o have_v prepare_v salvation_n in_o he_o and_o wrougt_v redemption_n through_o he_o they_o acknowledge_v and_o assent_v to_o the_o truth_n and_o conceive_v this_o be_v whole_a to_o believe_v upon_o this_o ground_n poor_a creature_n think_v it_o be_v in_o their_o power_n to_o believe_v and_o take_v grace_n and_o help_v from_o christ_n though_o they_o can_v help_v themselves_o therefore_o they_o labour_v not_o to_o get_v grace_n from_o god_n to_o do_v this_o work_n because_o they_o think_v they_o can_v perform_v this_o work_n by_o their_o own_o ability_n and_o power_n the_o cure_n of_o this_o hindrance_n be_v this_o and_o it_o lie_v special_o in_o these_o three_o meditation_n first_o see_v thyself_o and_o convince_v thy_o own_o heart_n how_o thou_o be_v cozen_v and_o thy_o conscience_n how_o thou_o be_v deceive_v in_o common_a sense_n when_o such_o thought_n creep_v into_o thy_o mind_n and_o reason_n thus_o be_v it_o in_o my_o power_n alone_o to_o believe_v or_o in_o any_o man_n power_n else_o will_v any_o man_n go_v to_o hell_n for_o want_n of_o believe_v if_o it_o be_v in_o my_o power_n or_o any_o man_n power_n else_o to_o get_v faith_n will_v any_o man_n perish_v for_o want_v of_o faith_n take_v a_o little_a experience_n from_o those_o that_o lie_v on_o their_o death_n bed_n a_o riotous_a wretch_n that_o have_v run_v headlong_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o truth_n a_o man_n that_o have_v live_v stubborn_o and_o stout_o under_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n and_o have_v take_v up_o arm_n against_o god_n and_o his_o grace_n he_o lie_v gasp_v and_o then_o he_o look_v to_o heaven_n and_o consider_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o he_o the_o minister_n say_v he_o must_v renounce_v himself_o and_o apply_v christ_n and_o his_o promise_n to_o his_o soul_n oh_o say_v he_o i_o can_v believe_v the_o lord_n will_v save_v i_o and_o pardon_v i_o and_o comfort_v i_o i_o can_v rest_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n what_o i_o such_o a_o sinner_n and_o save_v what_o i_o such_o a_o sinner_n and_o comfort_v i_o can_v believe_v it_o if_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n tell_v it_o i_o be_v it_o in_o this_o man_n power_n to_o believe_v now_o when_o he_o see_v hell_n open_a before_o he_o and_o the_o devil_n ready_a to_o receive_v he_o do_v you_o think_v he_o will_v rush_v into_o hell_n if_o he_o can_v believe_v and_o escape_v it_o second_o look_v into_o the_o depth_n of_o thy_o own_o heart_n and_o weigh_v serious_o thou_o own_o weakness_n by_o the_o balance_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n and_o thy_o own_o infirmity_n by_o the_o bless_a word_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o see_v that_o thou_o must_v not_o only_o have_v a_o gift_n from_o god_n to_o take_v it_o god_n must_v not_o only_o give_v a_o man_n a_o gift_n but_o power_n to_o receive_v it_o joh._n 3.27_o no_o man_n can_v receive_v any_o thing_n unless_o it_o be_v give_v he_o from_o above_o therefore_o judge_v your_o own_o ability_n not_o according_a to_o your_o own_o conceit_n and_o overween_a imagination_n but_o judge_n by_o the_o word_n and_o judge_v righteous_a the_o first_o covenant_n as_o to_o observe_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o second_o covenant_n he_o be_v as_o well_o able_a to_o keep_v the_o law_n as_o to_o believe_v the_o gospel_n unless_o there_o dream_v it_o be_v not_o in_o our_o will_n to_o dispose_v of_o our_o heart_n to_o take_v christ_n when_o we_o will_v to_o let_v he_o stand_v at_o door_n so_o long_o as_o we_o see_v fit_a and_o take_v he_o in_o when_o we_o see_v fit_a but_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o must_v beget_v we_o and_o not_o our_o will_n that_o can_v beget_v ourselves_o therefore_o that_o faith_n that_o grow_v upon_o the_o ground_n of_o thy_o own_o natural_a ability_n it_o be_v a_o fancy_n it_o be_v no_o sound_a faith_n god_n must_v come_v down_o from_o heaven_n to_o thy_o soul_n before_o thou_o can_v go_v up_o to_o heaven_n again_o faith_n must_v be_v first_o wrought_v in_o thy_o soul_n before_o thou_o can_v be_v carry_v to_o god_n by_o faith_n there_o must_v be_v a_o power_n in_o all_o mean_n above_o all_o mean_n there_o must_v be_v a_o spirit_n in_o all_o endeavour_n above_o all_o endeavour_n to_o help_v we_o to_o believe_v or_o else_o we_o shall_v never_o believe_v while_o the_o world_n stand_v therefore_o avoid_v those_o proud_a imagination_n of_o heart_n when_o man_n think_v they_o may_v refuse_v grace_n &_o take_v grace_n when_o they_o listen_v shut_v christ_n out_o of_o door_n over_o night_n and_o take_v he_o in_o the_o morning_n it_o be_v against_o sense_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o cross_a and_o contrary_a to_o the_o power_n of_o grace_n no_o go_v secret_o between_o god_n and_o thy_o own_o soul_n and_o confute_v it_o what_o i_o lord_n and_o my_o part_n lord_n what_o in_o my_o will_n lord_n to_o believe_v and_o in_o my_o power_n and_o so_o forth_o no_o if_o all_o man_n and_o angel_n shall_v conspire_v together_o and_o all_o the_o minister_n under_o heaven_n join_v together_o to_o work_v faith_n in_o my_o soul_n it_o will_v never_o be_v the_o power_n of_o angel_n man_n or_o word_n will_v never_o work_v it_o but_o it_o must_v be_v the_o power_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o must_v work_v it_o
that_o you_o may_v but_o step_v aside_o and_o have_v it_o now_o you_o have_v the_o matter_n for_o your_o faith_n to_o work_v upon_o second_o we_o be_v to_o fit_a faith_n for_o the_o service_n that_o it_o may_v succeed_v with_o more_o comfort_n and_o better_a speed_n for_o though_o a_o man_n be_v a_o believer_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o dulness_n and_o bluntness_n come_v upon_o this_o grace_n though_o he_o have_v it_o luke_o 24.25_o see_v how_o our_o saviour_n chide_v his_o disciple_n say_v o_o fool_n slow_a and_o dull_a of_o heart_n to_o believe_v etc._n etc._n so_o we_o ought_v to_o whet_v our_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v line_n and_o square_v the_o promise_n as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o hebrew_n that_o it_o may_v pierce_v through_o the_o vale_n of_o all_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o freeness_n of_o god_n grace_n and_o so_o bring_v comfort_n to_o we_o it_o be_v with_o the_o hand_n of_o faith_n as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o body_n sometime_o though_o the_o thing_n be_v near_o one_o that_o he_o may_v reach_v it_o and_o the_o hand_n have_v life_n yet_o if_o it_o be_v numb_a and_o stiff_a and_o freeze_a a_o man_n must_v warm_v it_o and_o rub_v it_o before_o he_o can_v lay_v hold_n upon_o and_o take_v the_o thing_n and_o do_v the_o work_n in_o hand_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o hand_n of_o faith_n for_o faith_n be_v the_o hand_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o take_v hold_v of_o that_o mercy_n and_o comfort_n which_o god_n have_v prepare_v for_o we_o in_o christ_n jesus_n now_o that_o faith_n be_v numb_a and_o stiff_a through_o carelessness_n and_o looseness_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v faith_n but_o he_o must_v supple_a and_o oil_n the_o finewe_n of_o faith_n that_o he_o may_v catch_v more_o speedy_o at_o the_o promise_n of_o life_n and_o receive_v comfort_n from_o thence_o particul_n 2_o now_o for_o the_o set_n of_o our_o faith_n to_o be_v limber_a and_o quick_a there_o be_v three_o rule_n to_o be_v observe_v rule_n 1_o first_o we_o must_v maintain_v the_o evidence_n of_o this_o grace_n of_o faith_n once_o get_v without_o question_n limber_a how_o to_o make_v faith_n limber_a undeniable_a without_o controlment_n i_o say_v a_o faith_n once_o get_v mark_v it_o i_o speak_v not_o now_o of_o those_o that_o have_v not_o faith_n it_o be_v in_o vain_a to_o bid_v a_o man_n live_v by_o faith_n who_o have_v no_o faith_n but_o it_o be_v for_o those_o in_o who_o heart_n god_n have_v be_v please_v to_o work_v this_o bless_a grace_n of_o faith_n this_o must_v be_v the_o care_n of_o every_o man_n that_o have_v get_v faith_n he_o must_v know_v the_o nature_n of_o faith_n in_o general_a and_o of_o his_o faith_n in_o particular_a whither_o his_o faith_n be_v of_o the_o right_a stamp_n and_o fill_v it_o up_o and_o keep_v it_o by_o thou_o and_o labour_n to_o have_v the_o demonstration_n of_o this_o work_n so_o plain_a in_o thy_o soul_n that_o it_o may_v be_v past_a denial_n what_o a_o marvellous_a folly_n be_v it_o for_o a_o man_n to_o question_n when_o he_o shall_v use_v it_o the_o work_n must_v needs_o be_v marvellous_o hinder_v though_o he_o have_v never_o so_o much_o faith_n when_o he_o begin_v to_o cavil_n with_o it_o and_o to_o question_v whither_o it_o be_v good_a or_o no_o it_o be_v a_o proverbial_a speech_n he_o that_o doubt_v of_o his_o way_n â—â—sisseth_v of_o his_o way_n for_o while_o he_o be_v doubt_v he_o go_v no_o way_n in_o conclusion_n so_o he_o that_o do_v question_n whether_o he_o have_v faith_n or_o no_o and_o therefore_o get_v little_a good_a by_o a_o year_n whereas_o if_o his_o land_n be_v settle_v to_o he_o he_o may_v so_o many_o hundred_o so_o it_o be_v here_o every_o poor_a faithful_a soul_n be_v bear_v to_o a_o fair_a estate_n and_o have_v rich_a promise_n and_o while_o he_o be_v yet_o in_o the_o law_n and_o make_v question_n of_o his_o faith_n the_o truth_n be_v the_o promise_n lie_v by_o and_o he_o dare_v not_o meddle_v with_o they_o and_o he_o suspect_v whether_o he_o may_v venture_v upon_o they_o or_o no_o and_o the_o reason_n be_v he_o be_v quarrel_v with_o and_o doubt_v of_o his_o faith_n when_o he_o shall_v live_v by_o it_o matth._n 24.29_o 30_o 31._o when_o the_o disciple_n see_v jesus_n walk_v on_o the_o sea_n they_o think_v it_o be_v a_o spirit_n but_o jesus_n say_v unto_o they_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n it_o be_v have_v ground_n enough_o to_o come_v and_o strength_n of_o faith_n to_o come_v but_o when_o he_o see_v the_o wave_n great_a &_o trouble_v some_o he_o begin_v to_o doubt_v whereas_o he_o shall_v have_v improve_v the_o promise_n and_o not_o have_v doubt_v of_o it_o so_o we_o doubt_v and_o sit_v afraid_a &_o quarrel_n with_o the_o promise_n &_o improve_v not_o the_o grace_n that_o god_n bestow_v it_o faithful_a soul_n though_o the_o heart_n do_v believe_v and_o his_o heart_n be_v of_o a_o right_a stamp_n and_o be_v able_a to_o lay_v hold_n on_o the_o promise_n if_o that_o faith_n grow_v rusty_a with_o our_o doubt_n and_o be_v unstable_a or_o unsettled_a it_o recoil_v again_o upon_o we_o and_o we_o sit_v down_o dismay_v whereas_o we_o may_v have_v go_v to_o christ_n and_o receive_v mercy_n from_o he_o and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n say_v of_o the_o wise_a virgin_n matth._n 25.7_o they_o trim_v their_o lamp_n and_o when_o the_o bridegroom_n come_v they_o enter_v with_o he_o into_o
