christ_n for_o his_o rule_n to_o refer_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o best_a work_n unto_o god_n alone_o and_o to_o his_o honour_n as_o our_o saviour_n require_v mat._n 5.16_o and_o the_o apostle_n 1_o cor._n 10.31_o so_o then_o howsoever_o historical_a and_o justify_v faith_n seem_v to_o embrace_v the_o same_o object_n namely_o the_o promise_n of_o salvation_n by_o christ_n yet_o to_o speak_v proper_o it_o be_v the_o same_o only_o material_o but_o not_o formal_o because_o though_o they_o embrace_v the_o same_o promise_n yet_o they_o embrace_v not_o the_o same_o thing_n in_o that_o promise_n historical_a faith_n acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v true_a but_o only_o justify_v faith_n believe_v it_o to_o be_v good_a at_o the_o least_o to_o be_v good_a in_o particular_a to_o himself_o that_o believe_v from_o this_o different_a apprehension_n of_o the_o object_n of_o faith_n arise_v another_o difference_n between_o these_o two_o kind_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o he_o that_o believe_v do_v as_o a_o true_a believer_n do_v for_o a_o true_a believer_n have_v in_o himself_o by_o the_o spirit_n a_o clear_a evidence_n not_o only_o of_o the_o truth_n but_o beside_o of_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o promise_n which_o he_o believe_v and_o that_o to_o himself_o in_o particular_a be_v strong_o carry_v after_o it_o with_o all_o the_o desire_n and_o affection_n of_o his_o soul_n close_v not_o only_o with_o the_o promise_n but_o with_o christ_n himself_o tender_v unto_o he_o therein_o for_o in_o all_o regular_a motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n such_o as_o be_v adam_n in_o his_o innocency_n and_o such_o as_o be_v those_o that_o be_v in_o the_o regenerate_a as_o far_o as_o they_o be_v regenerate_v the_o will_n be_v so_o guide_v by_o the_o understanding_n that_o when_o that_o judge_v any_o thing_n to_o be_v the_o chief_a good_a the_o other_o can_v choose_v but_o embrace_v it_o so_o that_o a_o man_n clear_o apprehend_v and_o judge_v that_o there_o be_v no_o true_a happiness_n to_o be_v find_v but_o in_o christ_n the_o whole_a heart_n necessary_o rely_v upon_o he_o and_o close_v full_o with_o he_o deny_v himself_o whole_o both_o in_o opinion_n and_o judgement_n and_o in_o purpose_n and_o choice_n thus_o far_o a_o true_a believer_n go_v in_o embrace_v christ_n can_v but_o a_o temporary_a believer_n can_v how_o near_o one_o that_o have_v no_o more_o but_o historical_a faith_n may_v come_v unto_o he_o we_o be_v now_o to_o inquire_v the_o come_n on_o of_o such_o a_o person_n towards_o christ_n our_o saviour_n himself_o describe_v unto_o we_o in_o that_o parable_n of_o the_o sour_a mat._n 13.20_o 21_o 22._o but_o more_o clear_o the_o apostle_n heb._n 6.4_o 5._o who_o set_v out_o before_o we_o the_o distinct_a step_n and_o degree_n by_o which_o one_o may_v advance_v forward_o towards_o the_o entertain_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o salvation_n and_o life_n and_o yet_o fall_v short_a at_o the_o last_o to_o begin_v therefore_o with_o
