the_o name_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n othersome_a redeem_v this_o wretched_a and_o flightfull_a life_n by_o recant_v so_o that_o they_o banish_v themselves_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v cast_v themselves_o intoo_o satan_n snare_n and_o throw_v themselves_o headlong_o into_o endless_a death_n and_o all_o too_o escape_v the_o hand_n of_o tyrant_n and_o of_o their_o enemy_n therefore_o saint_n paul_n cruelty_n be_v purposely_o condemn_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o that_o he_o not_o only_o be_v full_a of_o pride_n and_o stubbornness_n against_o god_n but_o also_o have_v enforce_v many_o too_o recant_v and_o give_v over_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o gospel_n you_o see_v then_o how_o he_o behave_v himself_o and_o that_o must_v serve_v for_o our_o learning_n for_o although_o the_o word_n abide_v still_o in_o his_o full_a state_n and_o we_o prejudice_n it_o not_o at_o all_o by_o our_o weakness_n yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o faith_n when_o he_o persecute_v the_o christian_n before_o he_o be_v convert_v although_o that_o many_o have_v renounce_v the_o salvation_n which_o they_o shall_v have_v accept_v as_o it_o be_v offer_v they_o in_o jesus_n christ_n yet_o ought_v not_o the_o faith_n too_o be_v deface_v therefore_o likewise_o in_o these_o day_n when_o we_o see_v many_o wretched_a folk_n quail_v and_o give_v over_o all_o and_o that_o fashion_n and_o the_o make_n of_o a_o raven_a wolf_n too_o become_v a_o sheep_n yea_o and_o a_o shepherd_n be_v his_o work_n and_o a_o very_a miracle_n that_o proceed_v from_o he_o mark_v that_o for_o a_o special_a point_n and_o hereby_o we_o see_v brief_o that_o they_o on_o who_o god_n have_v bestow_v gift_n of_o grace_n so_o as_o they_o excel_v and_o be_v far_o above_o all_o other_o must_v not_o therefore_o advance_v themselves_o but_o find_v mean_n that_o the_o praise_n may_v be_v yield_v too_o he_o that_o have_v right_a too_o it_o and_o which_o have_v deserve_v it_o wherefore_o may_v be_v have_v in_o estimation_n will_v always_o labour_v for_o the_o same_o such_o as_o be_v possess_v with_o covetousness_n will_v never_o leave_v gather_v of_o good_n nor_o never_o be_v satisfy_v with_o any_o thing_n they_o endure_v hunger_n and_o thirst_n heat_n and_o cold_a and_o dare_v neither_o eat_v nor_o drink_v half_a their_o fill_n and_o all_o too_o the_o intent_n to_o heap_v up_o out_o of_o measure_n lo_o at_o what_o point_n they_o be_v again_o such_o as_o covet_v to_o be_v esteem_v and_o exalt_v too_o the_o worldward_n endure_v as_o great_a misery_n as_o if_o they_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o hangman_n nay_o the_o hangman_n will_v not_o torment_v they_o so_o cruel_o as_o they_o do_v themselves_o and_o yet_o they_o be_v so_o headstrong_a as_o they_o can_v by_o we_o be_v warn_v that_o our_o life_n be_v of_o no_o continuance_n and_o that_o we_o slip_v away_o out_o of_o hand_n yet_o be_v we_o so_o ravish_v in_o love_n with_o our_o vanity_n that_o we_o forsake_v the_o inestimable_a joy_n whereunto_o god_n call_v we_o and_o set_v light_n by_o the_o heritage_n of_o heaven_n in_o comparison_n of_o these_o worldly_a thing_n which_o be_v right_o nought_o therefore_o let_v we_o consider_v that_o s._n paul_n present_a upbraid_v of_o the_o galathians_n when_o he_o ask_v they_o where_o their_o happiness_n be_v become_v touch_v and_o concern_v we_o now_o too_o show_v we_o his_o will_n and_o let_v we_o look_v well_o too_o such_o as_o teach_v we_o be_v mark_n of_o what_o mind_n they_o be_v lead_v and_o govern_v whether_o they_o seek_v to_o obey_v god_n on_o their_o own_o part_n and_o too_o lead_v we_o in_o the_o same_o way_n by_o their_o own_o example_n furthermore_o when_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o if_o he_o shall_v please_v man_n he_o be_v not_o the_o servant_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o doctrine_n impli_v very_o much_o for_o we_o know_v well_o enough_o what_o man_n be_v of_o their_o own_o nature_n how_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o they_o but_o iniquity_n and_o stubbornness_n against_o god_n then_o if_o we_o mind_n to_o pleasure_v they_o we_o must_v give_v over_o god_n and_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o he_o for_o man_n go_v always_o backward_o if_o they_o be_v not_o compel_v to_o come_v unto_o god_n and_o they_o kick_v against_o he_o like_o wild_a beast_n therefore_o we_o can_v please_v they_o but_o by_o stray_v from_o god_n and_o by_o give_v the_o bridle_n to_o such_o as_o leap_v out_o eft_o a_o tone_n side_n and_o eft_o a_o tooth_a yea_o and_o even_o the_o good_a man_n can_v sometime_o find_v in_o their_o heart_n that_o god_n shall_v apply_v himself_o too_o their_o appetite_n for_o although_o they_o be_v still_o mind_v too_o serve_v he_o yet_o be_v they_o not_o at_o all_o time_n and_o in_o all_o point_n so_o well_o rule_v as_o to_o have_v give_v over_o all_o their_o own_o opinion_n lyking_n and_o desire_n but_o that_o sometime_o they_o shall_v every_o one_o of_o they_o be_v tempt_v to_o do_v one_o thing_n must_v not_o only_o general_o condemn_v all_o that_o be_v of_o our_o own_o nature_n but_o also_o so_o ransack_v man_n conscience_n as_o every_o of_o they_o may_v feel_v that_o god_n execute_v his_o jurisdiction_n there_o and_o that_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o only_o a_o lance_a iron_n to_o prick_v but_o also_o a_o sword_n that_o pierce_v to_o the_o marye_n of_o the_o bone_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o the_o epistle_n too_o the_o hebrew_n 12_o there_o must_v then_o be_v neither_o thought_n nor_o affection_n which_o the_o gospel_n must_v not_o search_v true_o it_o can_v be_v but_o that_o they_o which_o be_v so_o wound_v must_v needs_o groan_v and_o have_v some_o grief_n and_o hartbyte_n but_o yet_o must_v we_o shut_v our_o eye_n at_o all_o that_o and_o not_o regard_v what_o man_n covet_v or_o desire_n but_o pass_v on_o still_o forward_o furthermore_o this_o warning_n serve_v not_o only_o for_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n word_n but_o for_o all_o man_n ingenerall_n therefore_o if_o we_o desire_v too_o be_v christian_n let_v we_o learn_v to_o do_v so_o much_o honour_n to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n that_o although_o his_o word_n be_v not_o very_o well_o too_o our_o like_n nor_o we_o find_v favour_n in_o it_o according_a to_o our_o natural_a wit_n yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o may_v not_o cease_v too_o receyve_v it_o obedient_o and_o so_o when_o any_o man_n come_v to_o a_o sermon_n let_v he_o first_o and_o foremost_a make_v his_o reckon_v to_o be_v rebuke_v as_o meet_v be_v and_o let_v he_o understande_v that_o it_o be_v for_o his_o profit_n that_o he_o be_v not_o be_v commend_v there_o be_v nothing_o but_o filthiness_n and_o infection_n in_o we_o before_o god_n for_o all_o the_o goodly_a virtue_n which_o we_o have_v to_o outward_a show_n be_v but_o corruption_n till_o god_n have_v reform_v us._n so_o then_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o all_o that_o ever_o we_o have_v of_o our_o own_o nature_n must_v be_v cleanse_v or_o else_o we_o shall_v rot_v in_o our_o own_o wretchedness_n and_o therefore_o forasmuch_o as_o there_o be_v none_o other_o mean_a to_o draw_v we_o to_o salvation_n but_o by_o cleanse_v we_o of_o all_o our_o vice_n and_o the_o same_o cleanse_n can_v be_v do_v but_o by_o violence_n when_o we_o be_v warn_v by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n so_o as_o our_o own_o conscience_n rebuke_v we_o although_o we_o like_v well_o to_o be_v now_o and_o then_o flatter_v and_o soothe_v yet_o let_v we_o seek_v to_o be_v speak_v unto_o earnest_o and_o to_o have_v our_o fault_n tell_v we_o and_o to_o be_v make_v ashamed_a of_o they_o and_o too_o have_v our_o unhonestie_n discover_v and_o not_o desire_v to_o be_v please_v for_o it_o be_v the_o next_o way_n to_o make_v we_o rot_v in_o our_o own_o naughtiness_n if_o we_o shall_v hold_v it_o so_o in_o secret_a and_o it_o will_v cost_v we_o dear_o the_o set_n on_o if_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o flatter_v by_o man_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a season_n the_o heavenly_a judge_n shall_v thunder_v down_o upon_o us._n thus_o you_o see_v how_o every_o of_o we_o ought_v too_o profit_v himself_o by_o that_o which_o s._n paul_n speak_v here_o namely_o that_o if_o the_o preacher_n gratify_v and_o please_v man_n in_o so_o do_v they_o renounce_v god_n and_o if_o they_o renounce_v he_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o people_n whither_o shall_v they_o be_v invention_n have_v a_o disguise_a jesus_n christ_n and_o a_o bastard_n gospel_n which_o god_n disclaym_v so_o that_o our_o christianity_n can_v be_v no_o christianity_n except_o we_o continue_v in_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v learn_v of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n who_o be_v our_o only_a master_n and_o in_o the_o thing_n which_o the_o apostle_n also_o have_v teach_v we_o in_o his_o name_n lo_o what_o we_o have_v too_o remember_v in_o this_o text._n now_o heereuppon_o saint_n paul_n show_v his_o own_o conversation_n whereby_o it_o may_v be_v gather_v that_o out_o of_o doubt_n he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v fashion_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o so_o strange_a a_o alteration_n as_o be_v see_v in_o his_o person_n can_v not_o happen_v except_o god_n have_v put_v too_o his_o hand_n and_o wrought_v after_o a_o secret_a and_o unaccustomed_a fashion_n and_o so_o you_o see_v in_o effect_n whereat_o he_o amed_z when_o he_o say_v that_o the_o galathians_n know_v his_o conversation_n or_o manner_n of_o lyve_a we_o have_v here_o a_o good_a lesson_n howbeit_o that_o we_o may_v profit_v the_o more_o by_o it_o let_v we_o mark_v how_o saint_n paul_n continue_v the_o thing_n that_o he_o have_v touch_v afore_o which_o be_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v not_o find_v a_o steadfast_a foundation_n in_o any_o creature_n whereon_o to_o settle_v faith_n but_o that_o god_n only_o must_v be_v the_o founder_n thereof_o and_o although_o man_n be_v mean_a and_o instrument_n of_o it_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o have_v need_v too_o be_v authorise_v of_o god_n and_o too_o have_v it_o know_v that_o he_o have_v send_v they_o and_o allow_v they_o and_o that_o they_o bring_v not_o any_o thing_n which_o they_o have_v not_o receyve_v of_o he_o now_o if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o eye_n too_o the_o virtue_n that_o be_v in_o saint_n paul_n certain_o he_o deserve_v well_o too_o have_v some_o credit_n and_o audience_n among_o man_n yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o acknowledge_v and_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v nothing_o as_o in_o respect_n of_o himself_o and_o that_o all_o that_o ever_o he_o have_v be_v only_o to_o serve_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o thing_n faithful_o which_o he_o have_v receyve_v of_o he_o 〈◊〉_d what_o shall_v we_o then_o say_v too_o such_o as_o have_v neither_o good_a life_n doctrine_n or_o aught_o else_o whereas_o they_o call_v themselves_o prelate_n and_o take_v upon_o they_o some_o stateliness_n and_o superiority_n so_o as_o their_o say_n go_v for_o saw_n be_v they_o therefore_o advance_v above_o s._n paul_n admit_v they_o be_v yet_o must_v all_o loftiness_n of_o man_n cease_v and_o be_v pull_v down_o so_o as_o nothing_o may_v hinder_v the_o exalt_v of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o for_o example_n 11._o although_o s._n john_n baptist_n have_v record_n bear_v unto_o he_o that_o there_o be_v not_o a_o excellent_a man_n bear_v of_o woman_n yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o say_v that_o both_o himself_o and_o other_o must_v be_v diminish_v 30._o that_o jesus_n christ_n may_v grow_v and_o increase_v likewise_o s._n paul_n speak_v of_o it_o in_o another_o place_n 20._o say_v that_o the_o church_n must_v in_o such_o wise_a be_v build_v as_o our_o head_n jesus_n christ_n may_v always_o have_v preeminnence_n 18._o for_o if_o we_o shall_v so_o advance_v man_n that_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v be_v deface_v among_o they_o that_o be_v a_o terrible_a building_n and_o such_o a_o one_o as_o shall_v bring_v nothing_o but_o ruin_n and_o confusion_n and_o in_o good_a sooth_n if_o a_o man_n shall_v become_v as_o big_a as_o a_o pillar_n of_o this_o church_n and_o his_o head_n of_o the_o bigness_n of_o one_o fist_n so_o as_o it_o shall_v be_v hide_v between_o his_o shoulder_n he_o shall_v be_v a_o monster_n and_o it_o be_v much_o better_o for_o he_o too_o keep_v his_o ordinary_a proportion_n but_o like_a as_o the_o church_n be_v the_o body_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n 23_o so_o must_v he_o be_v advance_v above_o all_o man_n and_o every_o man_n must_v look_v upon_o he_o and_o stick_v to_o he_o and_o certesse_n the_o papist_n condemn_v themselves_o at_o this_o day_n by_o their_o own_o proverb_n in_o that_o they_o say_v a_o man_n can_v know_v god_n for_o his_o apostle_n and_o in_o very_a deed_n they_o have_v bury_v jesus_n christ_n in_o such_o sort_n that_o he_o be_v as_o good_a as_o hide_a in_o the_o world_n for_o they_o have_v rob_v he_o of_o all_o that_o belong_v to_o he_o 22_o insomuch_o that_o whereas_o he_o be_v call_v the_o lawgiver_n the_o judge_n and_o the_o king_n to_o show_v that_o he_o alone_o ought_v to_o bear_v rule_n we_o see_v how_o man_n have_v deck_v themselves_o with_o all_o those_o feather_n therefore_o let_v we_o keep_v ourselves_o from_o such_o confusion_n &_o if_o we_o increase_v let_v we_o always_o abide_v in_o the_o root_n &_o groundwork_n of_o the_o simplicity_n of_o the_o gospel_n let_v we_o take_v good_a heed_n that_o we_o swerve_v not_o a_o hear_v breadth_n from_o it_o and_o as_o touch_v that_o which_o be_v rehearse_v here_o concern_v the_o conversion_n of_o s._n paul_n it_o tend_v still_o to_o this_o end_n namely_o to_o do_v we_o to_o wit_n that_o he_o do_v not_o thrust_v himself_o in_o of_o his_o own_o head_n but_o that_o god_n reach_v he_o his_o hand_n and_o that_o the_o doctrine_n which_o he_o have_v preach_v be_v give_v he_o by_o revelation_n eloquence_n all_o those_o thing_n be_v nothing_o but_o filthiness_n and_o dung_n and_o that_o god_n only_o must_v have_v that_o authority_n and_o honour_n at_o our_o hand_n and_o that_o forasmuch_o as_o it_o please_v god_n to_o speak_v to_o we_o by_o the_o mouth_n of_o his_o only_a son_n only_a jesus_n christ_n must_v have_v the_o preeminence_n to_o be_v the_o master_n and_o teacher_n of_o all_o his_o and_o we_o likewise_o must_v become_v his_o flock_n to_o hear_v his_o voice_n lo_o how_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v to_o be_v honour_v among_o we_o namely_o by_o become_v his_o true_a scholar_n and_o without_o feign_v in_o the_o popedom_n a_o man_n may_v well_o enough_o worship_v some_o marmoset_n with_o the_o honour_n of_o jesus_n christ_n when_o as_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o the_o gospel_n be_v tread_v under_o foot_n and_o blaspheme_v and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o those_o blind_a wretch_n think_v themselves_o too_o have_v make_v a_o fair_a hand_n yea_o but_o in_fw-la very_a deed_n it_o be_v a_o open_a spit_v in_o the_o face_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n when_o man_n renounce_v his_o word_n wherein_o they_o shall_v behold_v his_o glory_n and_o majesty_n as_o saint_n paul_n say_v in_o the_o second_o to_o the_o corinthian_n s._n then_o be_v it_o not_o honour_v of_o christ_n when_o man_n make_v many_o murlimewes_n and_o ceremony_n but_o when_o they_o submit_v themselves_o simple_o to_o the_o doctrine_n wherein_o it_o be_v his_o will_n to_o be_v know_v and_o wherein_o he_o show_v himself_o unto_o we_o as_o it_o be_v face_n to_o face_n thus_o you_o see_v in_o effect_n what_o we_o have_v too_o bear_v away_o and_o herewithal_o in_o this_o conversion_n of_o saint_n paul_n we_o see_v perfect_o the_o heavenly_a power_n which_o he_o mind_v to_o show_v we_o here_o that_o be_v to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v not_o of_o man_n but_o that_o god_n have_v utter_v his_o arm_n to_o the_o end_n it_o may_v be_v know_v that_o such_o change_n come_v of_o he_o and_o that_o s._n paul_n be_v become_v a_o new_a creature_n for_o sure_o it_o be_v a_o more_o excellent_a work_n of_o god_n when_o a_o man_n be_v repair_v after_o his_o image_n than_o when_o we_o be_v bear_v into_o this_o transitory_a life_n and_o so_o we_o see_v how_o saint_n paul_n be_v make_v a_o new_a man_n and_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o he_o
thing_n shall_v go_v to_o havoc_n and_o confusion_n in_o the_o world_n than_o to_o abide_v that_o god_n word_n be_v so_o precious_a and_o holy_a a_o thing_n as_o it_o be_v shall_v in_o any_o wise_a be_v pervert_v yea_o it_o be_v better_a that_o heaven_n and_o earth_n shall_v be_v confound_v together_o than_o that_o that_o shall_v be_v suffer_v so_o then_o let_v we_o consider_v well_o this_o doctrine_n how_o it_o may_v serve_v our_o turn_n and_o do_v we_o good_a not_o only_o to_o beat_v back_o all_o the_o assault_n that_o shall_v be_v put_v too_o we_o by_o the_o enemy_n of_o god_n truth_n but_o also_o too_o frame_v we_o too_o all_o lowliness_n and_o modesty_n so_o as_o our_o whole_a desire_n may_v be_v too_o be_v guide_v and_o govern_v by_o god_n word_n and_o by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n chryste_n howbeit_o therewithal_o let_v we_o be_v so_o stout_a heart_a as_o not_o to_o be_v turn_v away_o by_o man_n neither_o for_o their_o credit_n and_o authority_n nor_o for_o their_o threatenyng_n nor_o for_o all_o the_o pride_n and_o stateliness_n of_o the_o world_n but_o that_o we_o may_v always_o stick_v steadfast_o to_o our_o lord_n jesus_n chryste_n and_o if_o any_o body_n come_v and_o lie_v any_o new_a thing_n afore_o we_o let_v we_o evermore_o have_v a_o good_a eye_n too_o the_o end_n whereuntoo_o they_o will_v lead_v we_o and_o consider_v that_o like_a as_o satan_n have_v many_o wile_n and_o policy_n so_o also_o have_v his_o underling_n too_o and_n therefore_o let_v we_o on_o our_o side_n have_v the_o skill_n to_o look_v to_o ourselves_o in_o such_o wise_a as_o we_o may_v always_o know_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v guide_v thither_o so_o as_o he_o may_v be_v our_o only_a mark_n and_o shoot_v anchor_n and_o we_o understande_v that_o he_o have_v all_o fullness_n of_o welfare_n in_o he_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v seek_v our_o want_n in_o he_o and_o all_o thing_n be_v put_v away_o that_o may_v hinder_v we_o from_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o now_o let_v we_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n with_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o fault_n pray_v he_o too_o make_v we_o feel_v they_o in_o such_o
