thing_n they_o can_v be_v reveal_v to_o the_o knowledge_n spiritual_o but_o there_o be_v a_o feast_n in_o the_o soul_n wherein_o the_o soul_n do_v solace_v itself_o so_o both_o these_o go_v together_o and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v not_o rest_v in_o that_o reveal_n that_o do_v not_o bring_v a_o savour_n with_o it_o to_o the_o soul_n undoubted_o that_o knowledge_n have_v no_o solace_n and_o comfort_n for_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v not_o by_o divine_a revelation_n of_o heavenly_a truth_n we_o see_v the_o dependence_n of_o these_o one_o upon_o another_o then_o let_v we_o make_v this_o use_n of_o all_o since_o there_o be_v a_o vail_n over_o all_o man_n by_o nature_n 1_o the_o work_n of_o ignorance_n and_o unbelief_n off_o and_o since_o god_n only_o take_v it_o away_o by_o his_o common_a knowledge_n if_o religion_n be_v not_o know_v to_o purpose_n its_o like_a lightning_n which_o direct_v not_o a_o man_n in_o his_o way_n but_o dazzle_v he_o and_o put_v he_o quite_o out_o of_o his_o way_n many_o have_v flash_n of_o knowledge_n that_o affect_v they_o a_o little_a but_o this_o affection_n be_v soon_o go_v and_o direct_v they_o not_o a_o whit_n in_o the_o way_n of_o life_n and_o therefore_o labour_v that_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n may_v be_v subject_a beg_v of_o god_n a_o fleshy_a heart_n a_o heart_n yield_v to_o the_o truth_n we_o know_v eare-truth_n will_v harden_v as_o none_o be_v hard_a than_o a_o common_a formal_a christian_a a_o man_n have_v better_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o papist_n than_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o formal_a hypocritical_a christian_a why_o they_o pride_n themselves_o in_o their_o profession_n no_o persecuter_n worse_a than_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n that_o stand_v in_o their_o own_o light_n they_o be_v more_o cruel_a than_o pilate_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o be_v inform_v but_o not_o true_o transform_v to_o love_v the_o truth_n we_o know_v and_o hate_v the_o evil_a we_o know_v it_o make_v we_o worse_o and_o then_o it_o inrage_v man_n the_o more_o the_o more_o they_o know_v the_o more_o they_o be_v enrage_v man_n when_o truth_n be_v press_v which_o they_o purpose_v not_o to_o obey_v they_o fret_v against_o the_o ordinance_n and_o cast_v stone_n as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o face_n of_o truth_n when_o physic_n do_v raise_v humour_n but_o be_v not_o strong_a enough_o to_o carry_v they_o away_o they_o endanger_v the_o body_n and_o where_o light_n be_v not_o strong_a enough_o to_o dispel_v corruption_n when_o it_o raise_v corruption_n it_o inrage_v it_o when_o man_n know_v truth_n and_o be_v not_o mould_v into_o it_o they_o first_o rage_n against_o it_o and_o then_o by_o little_a and_o little_a fall_n from_o it_o and_o grow_v extreme_a enemy_n to_o it_o it_o be_v a_o dangerous_a thing_n therefore_o to_o rest_v in_o naked_a knowledge_n beg_v then_o of_o god_n that_o he_o will_v take_v away_o the_o veil_n of_o ignorance_n and_o unbelief_n that_o light_n and_o life_n may_v go_v together_o and_o so_o we_o shall_v be_v fit_a to_o feast_v with_o the_o lord_n now_o that_o we_o may_v have_v true_a save_a knowledge_n first_o we_o must_v attend_v meek_o upon_o god_n ordinance_n which_o be_v sanctify_v to_o this_o end_n to_o let_v in_o light_n to_o the_o soul_n will_v we_o know_v sin_n and_o our_o state_n by_o nature_n mean_n and_o how_o to_o come_v out_o of_o it_o ordinance_n than_o together_o with_o this_o revelation_n must_v come_v a_o heavenly_a strength_n into_o the_o soul_n a_o heavenly_a taste_n and_o relish_v and_o therefore_o attend_v upon_o the_o empty_v of_o our_o self-conceitedness_n and_o understanding_n we_o be_v fill_v in_o divine_a thing_n in_o what_o measure_n we_o be_v empty_v of_o ourselves_o we_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o knowledge_n and_o grace_n as_o a_o vessel_n in_o what_o measure_n it_o be_v empty_v smile_n in_o that_o measure_n it_o be_v fit_a to_o be_v fill_v with_o more_o supervenient_a liquor_n so_o in_o what_o measure_n we_o grow_v in_o self-denial_n and_o humility_n in_o that_o measure_n we_o be_v fill_v likewise_o with_o knowledge_n he_o will_v teach_v a_o humble_a soul_n that_o stand_v not_o in_o its_o own_o light_n what_o it_o be_v to_o repent_v to_o believe_v to_o love_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v patient_a under_o the_o cross_n what_o it_o be_v to_o live_v holy_o and_o die_v comfortable_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n will_v teach_v a_o humble_a selfe-denying_a soul_n all_o these_o thing_n and_o therefore_o labour_v for_o a_o humble_a empty_a soul_n and_o not_o to_o cast_v ourselves_o too_o much_o into_o the_o sin_n and_o fashion_n of_o the_o time_n as_o the_o apostle_n rom._n 12._o be_v not_o conform_v to_o this_o world_n time_n but_o be_v you_o transform_v by_o the_o renew_n of_o your_o mind_n etc._n etc._n when_o a_o man_n cast_v himself_o into_o the_o mould_n of_o the_o time_n and_o will_v live_v as_o the_o rest_n do_v he_o shall_v never_o understand_v the_o secret_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a pleasure_n of_o god_n for_o the_o world_n must_v be_v condemn_v the_o world_n go_v the_o broad_a way_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v not_o consider_v what_o other_o do_v but_o what_o god_n teach_v we_o to_o do_v and_o add_v to_o this_o know_v what_o we_o know_v let_v we_o labour_n to_o practice_v john_n 7._o 17._o but_o he_o that_o do_v the_o he_o shall_v know_v more_o and_o more_o till_o god_n reveal_v himself_o full_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o therefore_o be_v faithful_a to_o ourselves_o and_o true_a to_o the_o knowledge_n we_o have_v know_v love_v it_o and_o put_v it_o into_o practice_n when_o divine_a truth_n be_v discover_v let_v the_o heart_n affect_v they_o lest_o god_n give_v we_o up_o to_o believe_v lie_n we_o have_v many_o give_v up_o to_o this_o sin_n because_o when_o
midst_n of_o all_o their_o mirth_n of_o their_o mortality_n which_o practise_v of_o the_o heathen_n condemn_v the_o rant_a jollity_n of_o some_o loose_a professor_n in_o these_o time_n but_o here_o
