confute_v scepticism_n be_v a_o capricious_a frenzy_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o it_o tend_v no_o more_o to_o the_o disreputation_n of_o reason_n that_o it_o can_v cure_v it_o than_o it_o do_v to_o the_o some_o of_o the_o article_n of_o our_o natural_a religion_n viz._n the_o be_v of_o god_n and_o the_o immortality_n of_o the_o soul_n revelation_n indeed_o have_v advance_v these_o to_o high_a degree_n of_o certainty_n then_o before_o they_o have_v but_o i_o see_v not_o how_o it_o tend_v to_o the_o advancement_n of_o the_o honour_n of_o divine_a revelation_n by_o too_o rigid_a if_o not_o sceptical_a denial_n to_o invalidate_v all_o those_o argument_n that_o reason_n may_v suggest_v in_o proof_n or_o confirmation_n hereof_o reason_n methinks_v here_o shall_v not_o be_v treat_v as_o a_o enemy_n but_o rather_o help_v and_o encourage_v then_o discountenance_v in_o so_o good_a a_o design_n we_o shall_v rather_o procure_v and_o maintain_v a_o certain_a rational_a tenderness_n and_o modesty_n tractatus_fw-la theologico-politicus_a notwithstanding_o what_o he_o there_o speak_v of_o it_o yet_o may_v indeed_o assert_v no_o other_o prophecy_n or_o revelation_n than_o what_o be_v within_o the_o unknowable_a as_o it_o do_v to_o those_o thing_n which_o leave_v more_o immediate_a and_o sensible_a effect_n behind_o they_o and_o if_o god_n by_o such_o a_o eternal_a decree_n have_v so_o fix_v the_o course_n of_o nature_n that_o it_o can_v no_o way_n now_o be_v alter_v than_o pprophecy_n must_v run_v the_o same_o fate_n with_o miracle_n and_o he_o that_o deny_v one_o if_o he_o be_v to_o do_v it_o and_o to_o clear_v the_o way_n for_o the_o solution_n of_o the_o present_a question_n i_o think_v it_o convenient_a to_o lay_v down_o certain_a previous_a consideration_n first_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o which_o god_n promise_v by_o his_o prophet_n to_o give_v a_o great_a measure_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o messiah_n must_v have_v
