ENGLANDS Congratulatorie Entertainment OF HIS MAIESTIE Out of Sccotland and his welcome to LONDON To welcome home our good and gracious King England this Canto joyfully maysing WElcome sweet Charles most mighty Soveraigne True Faiths Defender truth you still maintaine Long may Christs Gospell flourish and the law To make proud Antichrist to stand in awe Welcome yea welcome thrice welcome unto us By you in Christ we shall be prosperous Unwilling we were for to let you goe From us sweet David God would have it so We are contented it was for our good To stint the shedding of great Brittaines blood Welcome to London welcome to us all You come with joy to make great Babell fall Whereas proud Rome did seeke to domineer You come in Christ to give her whipping cheere She thought to bring us all to her subjection But you in Christ have given her rejection She thought to spread amongst us great contention By civill discord sowing great dissention But that our God did check her for her pride Hath spared us and makes her ill betide Wheras she thought all Protestants to quell It 's found in mischiefe she doth most excell She plots she projects after such strange fashion She seekes to conquer every land and nation But God that sees her pride will make her bow That her foule basenesse every Saint shall know And since she could not worke her mallice here In Ireland she would make her spite appeare But God that Brittaine doth defend and keepe For Ireland watchfull is he will nor sleepe He stands for those that for his truth contend And he for ever will their cause defend Then courage take brave Monarch you shall have Our hearts our hands our purses what you le crave So long as you Gods Battailes take in hand We all will fight under your sweet command Your Princly Sonne Prince Charles great Brittaines heire In prowesse courage he 's without compare To fight Christ Battailes he 's your chiefe Viceroy True Christians comfort and great Brittaines joy Goe on my Leige God give you good successe You have done well in Christ God will you blesse So long as you his faith and truth defend God will you blesse untill the world shall end Long may you prosper and your royall blood In Church and Commonwealth for Brittaines good And for the welfare of true Christian hearts Since God by you to them his love imparts Stand for the truth proceed in Christ his name You prosper shall with everlasting fame Ireland calls for you craves your helping aide You must helpe them they must not be denai'd The helbred Papists mighty mischiefe worke Thei 'r worse by farre then is the heathen Turke Their spirit foule Christ Jesus he will quell Stand you for Christ your prowesse shall excell The Pope shall have but little biding there If you there make Christs Banners to appeare If you Christs Standard beare on Irish ground All Popish Prelates you will quite confound All Popish Brats will then goe hide their head The truth of Christ will strike them all for dead Yea your sweet Gemme shall passe the River Rhine By his sweet ayde the Romans shall decline Their end is neare their downfall is at hand By Christ under Prince Charles his sweet command By Cherlamaines the Father and the Sonne In God through Christ the Romans are undonne Rejoyce sweet Lady Elizabeth rejoyce King Charles in Christ hath made the chiefest choyce He fights for you and for your royall blood He is ordain'd in God to doe you good Though he long time hath beene withheld by Rome He comes at length to give her finall doome Rejoyce true Protestants reioyce yee all Christ Jesus gives great Babell now the fall The fall of Antichrist doth now draw neere Suppos'd to be within this eighteene yeare He is condemned he hath had his tryall His downefall now appeares without denyall Then welcome home sweet Charles to London towne You come with joy to pull great Babell downe You and your blood the Crown shall ever weare So long as you for Christ the Scepter beare Then courage take you shall in Christ excell You shall the Roman Eagles forces quell Which that you may let all good Christians then To my well wishes ever say Amen IOHN CRAGGE for England and true Brittaines weale Hath pend this Canto would not it conceale
