and_o it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o the_o hebrew_n dialect_n and_o language_n to_o say_v that_o that_o be_v speak_v from_o heaven_n or_o reveal_v from_o heaven_n which_o be_v do_v with_o a_o high_a brief_a in_o the_o rest_n the_o seven_o argument_n he_o that_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n be_v not_o god_n sect._n 13_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n therefore_o he_o be_v not_o god_n the_o sum_n and_o substance_n of_o this_o argument_n be_v contract_v be_v this_o the_o holy_a ghost_n can_v be_v god_n because_o he_o be_v give_v god_n be_v himself_o the_o giver_n of_o all_o be_v the_o giver_n of_o all_o thing_n three_o and_o last_o that_o a_o gift_n be_v in_o the_o power_n and_o at_o the_o disposal_n of_o another_o for_o to_o the_o first_o of_o these_o god_n be_v all_o thing_n and_o concern_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n it_o be_v express_o say_v 1_o cor._n 12.11_o but_o all_o these_o thing_n work_v one_o and_o the_o self_n same_o spirit_n divide_v to_o every_o man_n several_o as_o he_o will_v these_o word_n as_o he_o will_v clear_o prove_v that_o those_o administration_n and_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n there_o speak_v of_o be_v not_o only_o distribute_v and_o give_v immediate_o by_o he_o but_o that_o he_o be_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d at_o full_a liberty_n of_o and_o from_o himself_o to_o order_n and_o make_v this_o distribution_n the_o great_a thing_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o such_o as_o concern_v the_o salvation_n of_o man_n to_o dispose_v and_o distribute_v of_o they_o to_o who_o and_o where_o and_o to_o what_o degree_n he_o please_v and_o according_o he_o that_o in_o the_o place_n last_o cite_v be_v term_v the_o spirit_n but_o all_o these_o thing_n work_v one_o and_o the_o self_n same_o spirit_n he_o be_v in_o the_o six_o verse_n express_o say_v to_o be_v god_n and_o there_o be_v diversity_n of_o operation_n but_o it_o be_v the_o same_o god_n that_o work_v all_o in_o all_o therefore_o certain_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o god_n himself_o they_o be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o these_o thing_n due_o consider_v they_o be_v impregnable_o express_v for_o the_o proof_n of_o the_o divinity_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o the_o three_o and_o last_v proposition_n of_o the_o three_o specify_v viz._n that_o a_o gift_n be_v in_o the_o power_n and_o at_o the_o disposal_n of_o another_o neither_o be_v this_o necessary_a and_o universal_o true_a for_o god_n as_o we_o have_v prove_v be_v a_o gift_n viz._n of_o his_o own_o give_v and_o yet_o be_v not_o hereby_o prove_v to_o be_v at_o the_o disposal_n of_o another_o but_o only_o and_o sole_o of_o himself_o so_o that_o this_o argument_n be_v crazy_a and_o loose_a all_o over_o as_o for_o that_o which_o he_o add_v towards_o the_o close_a of_o it_o it_o be_v altogether_o as_o inconsiderable_a as_o the_o rest_n viz._n that_o if_o the_o person_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v give_v unto_o certain_a man_n than_o he_o be_v not_o personal_o with_o they_o before_o and_o consequent_o can_v be_v god_n by_o the_o concession_n of_o his_o adversary_n themselves_o who_o deny_v not_o that_o god_n be_v always_o personal_o present_a with_o all_o alike_o for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v note_v to_o be_v give_v unto_o some_o certain_a man_n in_o respect_n not_o simple_o of_o his_o personal_a presence_n with_o they_o but_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o fruition_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o his_o personal_a presence_n or_o in_o respect_n of_o such_o a_o presence_n of_o his_o person_n with_o they_o which_o shed_v or_o pour_v out_o the_o love_n of_o god_n abroad_o in_o their_o heart_n i._n e._n persuade_v man_n effectual_o and_o with_o power_n to_o believe_v the_o love_n of_o god_n towards_o they_o stir_v up_o many_o holy_a thought_n and_o motion_n in_o they_o of_o himself_o unto_o he_o for_o by_o this_o mean_v the_o spirit_n withdraw_v his_o former_a influence_n from_o such_o a_o person_n and_o afford_v he_o but_o a_o faint_a and_o scanty_a presence_n of_o himself_o afterward_o again_o sect._n 9_o from_o the_o apostle_n exhortation_n 1_o thes_n 5.19_o quench_v not_o the_o spirit_n the_o truth_n of_o the_o doctrine_n may_v be_v further_o argue_v even_o or_o moral_a law_n that_o every_o negative_a commandment_n include_v the_o affirmative_a contrary_n unto_o it_o as_o that_o which_o forbid_v the_o destroy_n or_o the_o take_n away_o the_o life_n of_o a_o man_n enjoin_v withal_o the_o preservation_n of_o his_o life_n with_o all_o tenderness_n and_o care_n there_o be_v another_o rule_n deliver_v by_o some_o worthy_a expositor_n of_o the_o scripture_n very_o necessary_a to_o acquaint_v we_o with_o the_o emphatical_a import_n of_o some_o expression_n here_o the_o rule_n be_v to_o this_o effect_n adverb_n of_o deny_v do_v very_o frequent_o import_v the_o contrary_a unto_o that_o word_n unto_o which_o they_o be_v join_v many_o instance_n of_o this_o rule_n may_v ready_o be_v give_v but_o this_o may_v be_v do_v upon_o some_o other_o occasion_n only_o for_o the_o present_n take_v notice_n that_o this_o scripture_n agree_v to_o that_o which_o be_v import_v in_o both_o these_o rule_n this_o negative_a dehortation_n quench_v not_o the_o spirit_n carry_v in_o it_o some_o such_o affirmative_a and_o command_a precept_n as_o this_o see_v that_o you_o be_v prudent_o industrious_a and_o careful_a with_o all_o diligence_n to_o nourish_v and_o advance_v the_o life_n and_o vigour_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n within_o you_o entertain_v he_o with_o all_o worthy_a and_o honourable_a respect_n in_o your_o soul_n let_v he_o have_v all_o the_o obedience_n that_o he_o desire_v or_o require_v of_o you_o by_o this_o mean_v you_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o quench_v he_o in_o his_o motion_n and_o operation_n that_o he_o will_v burn_v like_o a_o bright_a flame_n of_o heavenly_a fire_n within_o you_o and_o work_v wonderful_o in_o your_o soul_n that_o some_o such_o sense_n as_o this_o be_v intend_v by_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o say_a dehortation_n be_v not_o obscure_o intimate_v by_o that_o negative_a precept_n not_o to_o despise_v prophesy_v immediate_o subjoin_v unto_o that_o of_o not_o quench_v the_o spirit_n especial_o if_o it_o be_v interpret_v by_o one_o or_o both_o the_o rule_v give_v for_o the_o interpretation_n of_o the_o former_a passage_n for_o then_o not_o to_o despise_v prophesy_v will_v signify_v to_o put_v a_o high_a esteem_n upon_o prophesy_v that_o be_v in_o the_o ministry_n or_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v do_v partly_o by_o a_o constant_a or_o frequent_a attendance_n upon_o it_o as_o with_o reverence_n and_o fear_n so_o with_o a_o lively_a and_o steady_a expectation_n of_o meeting_n with_o god_n and_o much_o good_a in_o it_o partly_o also_o by_o a_o conscientious_a subject_v all_o a_o man_n way_n word_n and_o work_n unto_o the_o authority_n and_o guidance_n of_o it_o now_o not_o to_o despise_v that_o be_v to_o honour_v prophesy_v upon_o such_o term_n as_o these_o and_o due_o honour_v it_o can_v be_v upon_o any_o other_o be_v a_o direct_a and_o pregnant_a course_n to_o cause_v the_o spirit_n to_o take_v pleasure_n in_o we_o and_o to_o be_v as_o fire_n in_o our_o breast_n and_o bone_n not_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v in_o the_o dark_a concern_v any_o such_o spiritual_a thing_n which_o be_v necessary_a or_o meet_a for_o we_o to_o know_v nor_o yet_o to_o be_v remiss_a negligent_a or_o cold_a as_o to_o way_n and_o work_n that_o be_v true_o honourable_a and_o worthy_a our_o high_a call_n and_o what_o do_v all_o this_o signify_v be_v interpret_v but_o to_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o way_n more_o dangerous_a unto_o man_n or_o more_o threaten_v the_o great_a evil_n and_o misery_n of_o be_v empty_v of_o the_o spirit_n than_o to_o despise_v prophesy_v or_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v call_v the_o ministration_n of_o the_o spirit_n 2_o cor._n 3.8_o and_o the_o minister_n of_o it_o the_o minister_n not_o of_o the_o letter_n that_o be_v not_o so_o much_o of_o the_o word_n matter_n or_o content_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o of_o the_o spirit_n because_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n according_a to_o the_o counsel_n and_o good_a pleasure_n of_o god_n in_o this_o behalf_n be_v wont_a to_o join_v himself_o with_o the_o glorious_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n publish_v and_o proclaim_v by_o his_o messenger_n when_o he_o have_v a_o intent_n or_o desire_n to_o go_v forth_o into_o the_o world_n and_o to_o visit_v the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o son_n and_o daughter_n of_o man_n see_v upon_o this_o account_n act_v 10.44_o gal._n 3.2_o 5._o and_o as_o the_o spirit_n ordinary_o come_v unto_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n in_o a_o golden_a shower_n of_o evangelical_n truth_n rain_v down_o upon_o they_o from_o the_o mouth_n of_o a_o church_n angel_n so_o do_v he_o not_o only_o continue_v but_o increase_n and_o enlarge_v his_o presence_n in_o they_o proportionable_o to_o that_o honour_n and_o obedience_n which_o be_v give_v by_o they_o unto_o those_o truth_n by_o which_o he_o be_v bring_v into_o their_o soul_n therefore_o as_o the_o despise_n of_o prophesy_v whether_o it_o be_v by_o undervalue_v or_o neglect_v the_o ordinance_n or_o dispensation_n of_o it_o or_o whether_o it_o be_v by_o disobey_v and_o cast_v behind_o their_o back_n the_o holy_a counsel_n and_o divine_a injunction_n of_o it_o be_v a_o ready_a way_n to_o quench_v the_o spirit_n so_o on_o the_o contrary_a to_o have_v this_o heavenly_a ordinance_n in_o high_a esteem_n and_o with_o constancy_n in_o attend_v upon_o it_o to_o join_v a_o reverential_a and_o awful_a subjection_n unto_o the_o voice_n of_o it_o in_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n be_v a_o method_n or_o mean_n seal_v by_o god_n whereby_o to_o obtain_v that_o inestimable_a treasure_n of_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n thus_o you_o see_v how_o the_o apostle_n charge_v of_o not_o quench_v the_o spirit_n lead_v we_o direct_o and_o by_o a_o clear_a light_n to_o the_o acknowledgement_n of_o this_o that_o it_o be_v every_o man_n duty_n to_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n that_o other_o dehortation_n of_o the_o same_o apostle_n sect._n 10_o parallel_n in_o expression_n and_o partly_o in_o sense_n unto_o the_o former_a grieve_v not_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n ephes_n 4.30_o be_v right_o argue_v and_o search_v into_o will_v give_v we_o the_o light_n of_o the_o same_o truth_n at_o the_o bottom_n of_o it_o but_o let_v we_o first_o consider_v what_o it_o be_v to_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n and_o then_o we_o shall_v see_v by_o the_o light_n of_o the_o two_o rule_n mention_v in_o the_o open_n of_o the_o former_a proof_n how_o it_o do_v follow_v from_o hence_o that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o christian_n to_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n the_o spirit_n here_o speak_v of_o be_v neither_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n nor_o angel_n as_o we_o shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o show_v hereafter_o but_o the_o eternal_a spirit_n of_o god_n the_o three_o person_n in_o the_o trinity_n now_o to_o speak_v proper_o this_o spirit_n be_v not_o subject_a unto_o grief_n nor_o any_o other_o passion_n whatsoever_o but_o man_n be_v say_v to_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n when_o they_o cause_v he_o to_o do_v and_o act_n towards_o they_o that_o which_o man_n be_v use_v to_o do_v obtain_v by_o the_o endeavour_n of_o man_n i_o reply_v first_o that_o he_o be_v not_o to_o be_v obtain_v by_o the_o endeavour_n of_o man_n upon_o any_o such_o term_n as_o if_o man_n be_v strong_a than_o he_o or_o can_v compel_v or_o necessitate_v he_o by_o any_o force_n or_o strength_n proper_o so_o call_v to_o turn_v in_o unto_o they_o or_o the_o like_a but_o this_o i_o suppose_v be_v the_o thought_n of_o no_o man_n heart_n be_v we_o strong_a than_o he_o say_v the_o apostle_n 1_o cor._n 10.22_o therefore_o certain_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v obtain_v upon_o any_o such_o term_n second_o neither_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n nor_o a_o fullness_n with_o he_o to_o be_v obtain_v by_o the_o endeavour_n of_o man_n upon_o any_o such_o term_n or_o in_o any_o such_o consideration_n as_o if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n of_o any_o worth_n goodness_n or_o the_o like_a in_o the_o endeavour_n of_o man_n in_o one_o kind_n or_o other_o which_o may_v in_o a_o way_n of_o merit_n challenge_v the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n from_o god_n much_o less_o such_o a_o measure_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o the_o be_v fill_v with_o he_o import_v no_o the_o obtain_n of_o the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n upon_o such_o term_n as_o these_o be_v like_o the_o redeem_n of_o the_o life_n or_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n brother_n from_o the_o grave_a psal_n 49.7_o which_o as_o the_o prophet_n say_v must_v cease_v for_o ever_o and_o such_o a_o thought_n of_o heart_n in_o any_o man_n be_v not_o much_o better_a than_o that_o of_o simon_n magus_n when_o as_o peter_n charge_v he_o he_o think_v the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n may_v be_v purchase_v with_o money_n therefore_o there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o this_o any_o way_n imply_v in_o the_o doctrine_n in_o hand_n three_o neither_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o any_o fullness_n with_o he_o to_o be_v obtain_v by_o any_o endeavour_n of_o man_n which_o original_o spring_v from_o themselves_o or_o whereof_o they_o be_v the_o author_n not_o say_v the_o apostle_n 2_o cor._n 3.5_o that_o we_o be_v sufficient_a of_o ourselves_o to_o think_v any_o thing_n or_o to_o reason_v any_o thing_n as_o the_o word_n signify_v meaning_n in_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o of_o ourselves_o i._n e._n as_o original_o or_o radical_o of_o ourselves_o he_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o plain_o suppose_v and_o grant_v that_o in_o a_o sense_n and_o in_o some_o consideration_n we_o be_v sufficient_a of_o ourselves_o viz._n by_o virtue_n of_o those_o ability_n which_o be_v proper_o our_o own_o be_v give_v we_o by_o god_n to_o reason_n or_o be_v not_o necessary_a to_o conceive_v that_o he_o do_v it_o immediate_o by_o himself_o but_o it_o may_v be_v do_v by_o angel_n ministerial_o and_o by_o god_n only_o original_o and_o authoritative_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v though_o this_o be_v grant_v yet_o will_v it_o not_o disable_v the_o argument_n in_o hand_n take_v from_o the_o scripture_n before_o we_o because_o that_o office_n or_o work_n the_o holy_a ghost_n from_o other_o particular_n observable_a sect._n 10_o upon_o such_o a_o account_n from_o the_o say_a passage_n of_o scripture_n lie_v yet_o before_o we_o as_o 1._o that_o christ_n say_v of_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v teach_v they_o all_o thing_n 2._o that_o he_o shall_v bring_v to_o their_o remembrance_n all_o thing_n that_o he_o have_v speak_v to_o they_o 3._o that_o he_o business_n in_o hand_n which_o be_v very_o frequent_a in_o scripture_n and_o so_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v necessary_a and_o meet_a for_o they_o to_o know_v in_o order_n to_o the_o performance_n of_o their_o apostolical_a office_n as_o well_o in_o teach_v as_o in_o plant_v church_n and_o order_v the_o government_n hereof_o for_o it_o be_v not_o for_o they_o to_o know_v the_o time_n and_o season_n which_o god_n have_v reserve_v in_o his_o own_o hand_n nor_o do_v it_o follow_v from_o hence_o either_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v not_o able_a to_o teach_v they_o that_o restrain_v all_o thing_n or_o that_o the_o teach_n of_o this_o restrain_v all_o thing_n shall_v be_v no_o sufficient_a proof_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v god_n the_o former_a of_o these_o be_v evident_a enough_o from_o the_o common_a principle_n in_o reason_n god_n and_o nature_n as_o they_o be_v not_o defective_a in_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a so_o neither_o do_v they_o abound_v in_o thing_n that_o be_v superfluous_a and_o therefore_o if_o the_o apostle_n have_v no_o need_n of_o any_o further_a knowledge_n of_o any_o thing_n which_o do_v any_o way_n conduce_v to_o the_o performance_n of_o their_o great_a office_n as_o they_o be_v apostle_n it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v conceive_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v impart_v such_o thing_n unto_o they_o which_o be_v not_o expedient_a for_o the_o sit_v and_o apply_v of_o all_o the_o figure_n shadow_n and_o ceremony_n under_o the_o law_n to_o and_o with_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o likewise_o to_o know_v and_o understand_v all_o obscure_a prophecy_n for_o otherwise_o they_o may_v have_v be_v foil_v and_o entangle_v by_o their_o adversary_n which_o will_v have_v be_v matter_n of_o prejudice_n to_o they_o in_o the_o fulfil_n of_o their_o office_n now_o then_o to_o be_v able_a to_o do_v this_o certain_o do_v prove_v sufficient_o that_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v god_n for_o 1_o cor._n 2.1_o 1._o say_v the_o apostle_n what_o man_n know_v the_o thing_n of_o a_o man_n save_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n which_o be_v in_o he_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n within_o a_o man_n who_o know_v all_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o heart_n all_o the_o purpose_n counsel_n hope_n sorrow_n etc._n etc._n no_o man_n know_v all_o these_o thing_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n which_o be_v within_o he_o which_o be_v intimous_a to_o he_o and_o upon_o the_o matter_n himself_o even_o so_o after_o the_o same_o manner_n we_o may_v say_v no_o man_n know_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n the_o spirit_n god_n search_v the_o deep_a thing_n of_o god_n as_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n be_v privy_a to_o the_o most_o secret_a thing_n of_o a_o man_n even_o so_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n be_v privy_a to_o the_o secret_n of_o god_n so_o there_o be_v no_o man_n and_o consequent_o no_o spirit_n beside_o no_o creature_n no_o angel_n though_o never_o so_o great_a and_o near_o unto_o god_n in_o point_n of_o office_n and_o ministry_n that_o be_v able_a to_o search_v the_o deep_a thing_n of_o god_n but_o only_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o be_v intimate_o acquaint_v with_o the_o deep_a thing_n of_o god_n 2._o he_o that_o be_v able_a to_o bring_v so_o the_o apostle_n remembrance_n whatsoever_o christ_n have_v say_v unto_o they_o must_v need_v be_v god_n because_o he_o must_v know_v their_o heart_n and_o their_o holy_a ghost_n of_o who_o it_o be_v say_v he_o shall_v remember_v they_o of_o all_o thing_n that_o christ_n have_v former_o speak_v unto_o they_o do_v know_v the_o state_n of_o their_o mind_n and_o inward_a part_n and_o that_o he_o know_v what_o thing_n they_o have_v or_o do_v remember_v and_o what_o thing_n they_o have_v forget_v and_o lose_v and_o according_o shouldsupply_v they_o which_o be_v another_o consideration_n that_o do_v argue_v that_o certain_o this_o spirit_n of_o god_n this_o samje_fw-fr great_a remembrancer_n of_o the_o apostle_n can_v be_v no_o other_o but_o god_n 3._o we_o may_v also_o argue_v from_o that_o other_o clause_n where_o our_o saviour_n describe_v the_o holy_a ghost_n or_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n there_o be_v no_o plurality_n of_o holy_a ghost_n to_o be_v one_o individual_a spirit_n of_o truth_n and_o then_o denote_v his_o process_n which_o proceed_v from_o or_o out_o of_o the_o father_n for_o both_o word_n shall_v be_v put_v in_o from_o the_o father_n and_o proceed_v out_o of_o the_o father_n after_o a_o ineffable_a and_o inconceivable_a manner_n now_o if_o any_o such_o character_n as_o this_o or_o any_o near_a to_o it_o can_v be_v find_v to_o be_v give_v of_o
therefore_o he_o be_v not_o god_n this_o argument_n be_v draw_v up_o in_o many_o swell_a word_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o some_o of_o the_o rest_n but_o the_o sinew_n and_o strength_n of_o it_o lie_v in_o this_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o the_o scripture_n be_v say_v to_o hear_v from_o another_o that_o which_o he_o speak_v or_o reveal_v unto_o man_n or_o which_o he_o do_v reveal_v unto_o the_o apostle_n and_o that_o from_o hence_o it_o follow_v according_a to_o our_o saviour_n supposition_n joh._n 8.26_o compare_v with_o ver_fw-la 28._o that_o he_o be_v teach_v by_o another_o any_o thing_n with_o sense_n for_o many_o may_v hear_v from_o another_o what_o they_o be_v or_o aught_o to_o speak_v without_o be_v teach_v in_o such_o a_o sense_n as_o when_o a_o jury_n of_o man_n give_v in_o a_o verdict_n upon_o oath_n it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o he_o that_o speak_v or_o give_v in_o his_o testimony_n in_o the_o second_o or_o three_o place_n be_v teach_v by_o he_o that_o speak_v the_o same_o thing_n before_o he_o in_o his_o hear_n for_o he_o may_v speak_v the_o same_o thing_n out_o of_o his_o own_o judgement_n and_o conscience_n and_o which_o he_o be_v otherwise_o resolve_v to_o speak_v though_o he_o have_v not_o hear_v it_o speak_v by_o another_o before_o he_o utter_v it_o and_o so_o they_o who_o spend_v their_o time_n in_o the_o study_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o in_o the_o search_n after_o truth_n may_v find_v that_o speak_v or_o write_v which_o be_v equivalent_a to_o hear_v and_o be_v hear_v in_o a_o sense_n by_o another_o which_o yet_o fall_v in_o with_o their_o own_o thought_n and_o apprehension_n former_o conceive_v in_o this_o case_n they_o may_v be_v say_v to_o hear_v that_o from_o another_o which_o they_o speak_v and_o yet_o not_o be_v teach_v therefore_o second_o whereas_o he_o labour_v to_o prove_v the_o truth_n of_o that_o assertion_n from_o these_o two_o passage_n of_o the_o scripture_n joh._n 8.26_o &_o 28._o compare_v together_o his_o labour_n be_v in_o vain_a for_o his_o proof_n be_v notorious_o defective_a and_o weak_a and_o this_o upon_o a_o double_a account_n for_o first_o he_o take_v that_o for_o grant_v which_o he_o shall_v have_v prove_v as_o be_v no_o way_n evident_a in_o itself_o and_o second_o he_o suppose_v that_o if_o it_o be_v true_a in_o one_o case_n that_o he_o that_o hear_v from_o another_o what_o he_o shall_v speak_v be_v teach_v that_o therefore_o it_o must_v be_v true_a in_o all_o case_n which_o be_v very_o ridiculous_a first_o that_o which_o he_o take_v for_o grant_v in_o his_o proof_n from_o these_o passage_n be_v that_o our_o saviour_n in_o the_o latter_a of_o the_o place_n expound_v himself_o in_o the_o former_a or_o that_o he_o speak_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n for_o substance_n of_o notion_n in_o they_o both_o this_o i_o say_v no_o way_n appear_v nor_o indeed_o be_v much_o probable_a for_o when_o in_o the_o former_a place_n he_o speak_v thus_o but_o he_o be_v appropriate_a to_o he_o as_o be_v his_o son_n by_o eternal_a generation_n for_o the_o father_n communicate_v one_o and_o the_o same_o divine_a nature_n or_o essence_n with_o himself_o unto_o the_o son_n by_o eternal_a generation_n must_v needs_o communicate_v all_o the_o divine_a attribute_n and_o perfection_n together_o with_o it_o be_v indeed_o but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n with_o it_o and_o among_o the_o rest_n that_o infinite_a knowledge_n and_o understanding_n which_o be_v proper_a to_o it_o which_o communication_n of_o knowledge_n may_v proper_o enough_o be_v term_v christ_n hear_v of_o the_o father_n again_o when_o he_o say_v in_o the_o latter_a place_n joh._n 8.28_o he_o say_v according_a as_o the_o father_n have_v teach_v i_o these_o thing_n i_o speak_v he_o speak_v of_o his_o teach_n or_o be_v teach_v as_o man_n or_o as_o mediator_n in_o which_o respect_n he_o be_v elsewhere_o term_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o his_o father_n say_v to_o be_v great_a than_o he_o and_o consequent_o he_o must_v be_v inferior_a to_o the_o father_n and_o so_o may_v proper_o enough_o be_v say_v to_o be_v teach_v by_o he_o and_o that_o indeed_o he_o speak_v here_o of_o his_o be_v teach_v as_o man_n appear_v from_o the_o next_o verse_n but_o that_o we_o must_v not_o stand_v to_o scan_v all_o thing_n thus_o you_o see_v our_o adversary_n in_o the_o main_a proof_n of_o his_o argument_n take_v that_o for_o grant_v which_o be_v not_o only_o questionable_a and_o uncertain_a but_o improbable_a also_o in_o the_o high_a again_o second_o suppose_v that_o which_o he_o take_v for_o grant_v without_o proof_n or_o probability_n in_o the_o case_n before_o we_o shall_v be_v grant_v unto_o he_o viz._n that_o our_o saviour_n by_o hear_v of_o the_o father_n and_o by_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o father_n mean_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n or_o explain_v the_o one_o by_o the_o other_o yet_o it_o no_o way_n follow_v that_o therefore_o all_o hear_n and_o all_o teach_n shall_v be_v the_o same_o or_o that_o every_o one_o that_o hear_v of_o another_o what_o he_o shall_v speak_v shall_v be_v teach_v by_o he_o we_o give_v a_o sufficient_a account_n of_o this_o late_o undeceivedness_n of_o the_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n than_o these_o the_o prophet_n david_n make_v this_o a_o argument_n or_o sign_n of_o the_o departure_n of_o man_n from_o the_o tent_n of_o such_o person_n who_o be_v secret_a enemy_n unto_o god_n viz._n make_v their_o tongue_n to_o fall_v upon_o themselves_o that_o be_v their_o utter_n and_o speak_v such_o thing_n which_o apparent_o make_v against_o their_o own_o interest_n and_o design_n psal_n 64.8_o so_o they_o shall_v make_v their_o own_o tongue_n to_o fall_v upon_o themselves_o all_o that_o see_v a_o state_n of_o grace_n though_o this_o be_v a_o most_o plain_a and_o direct_a doctrine_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o so_o they_o that_o teach_v and_o threaten_v man_n and_o woman_n that_o they_o rich_a and_o divine-like_a capacity_n this_o way_n that_o be_v to_o furnish_v they_o with_o all_o principle_n and_o disposition_n and_o knowledge_n of_o all_o thing_n fit_a for_o they_o to_o do_v so_o that_o nothing_o may_v lie_v between_o they_o and_o the_o performance_n of_o their_o duty_n but_o their_o own_o will_n this_o be_v to_o raise_v up_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o man_n or_o if_o you_o place_v this_o image_n of_o god_n in_o man_n in_o righteousness_n and_o true_a holiness_n it_o come_v but_o to_o the_o same_o for_o that_o be_v a_o right_a ministry_n indeed_o which_o have_v force_n christian_n teach_v and_o instruct_v by_o they_o we_o have_v the_o great_a assurance_n that_o light_o can_v be_v that_o these_o be_v safe_o arrive_v at_o the_o place_n whereunto_o they_o travel_v
