dead_a to_o we_o will_v not_o be_v of_o great_a force_n to_o persuade_v we_o than_o the_o stand_a revelation_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o we_o have_v it_o now_o convey_v to_o we_o this_o therefore_o lead_v i_o to_o my_o second_o proposition_n upon_o this_o head_n which_o if_o it_o can_v be_v make_v out_o will_v whole_o take_v away_o all_o controversy_n in_o this_o matter_n and_o it_o be_v this_o that_o we_o at_o this_o day_n have_v as_o great_a argument_n to_o convince_v we_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o christ_n revelation_n and_o consequent_o as_o great_a motive_n from_o thence_o to_o persuade_v which_o they_o have_v and_o upon_o that_o account_n it_o must_v be_v acknowledge_v that_o they_o have_v the_o advantage_n of_o we_o but_o this_o we_o say_v notwithstanding_o that_o if_o we_o take_v all_o thing_n together_o and_o weigh_v they_o impartial_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o that_o want_n be_v abundant_o supply_v to_o we_o in_o other_o respect_n for_o first_o of_o all_o our_o saviour_n gospel_n and_o all_o the_o evidence_n of_o it_o i_o have_v be_v now_o speak_v of_o be_v timely_a and_o faithful_o record_v and_o be_v as_o faithful_o transmit_v down_o to_o we_o so_o that_o though_o accompany_v it_o as_o if_o we_o ourselves_o have_v be_v present_a and_o see_v they_o with_o our_o eye_n which_o of_o we_o for_o instance_n do_v make_v any_o more_o doubt_n of_o the_o story_n of_o william_n the_o conqueror_n his_o subdue_a this_o kingdom_n or_o of_o henry_n the_o eight_o his_o cast_v off_o the_o pope_n supremacy_n than_o he_o do_v of_o the_o revolution_n that_o have_v happen_v in_o his_o own_o time_n and_o yet_o these_o matter_n of_o fact_n be_v no_o better_o attest_v than_o the_o history_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o miracle_n and_o doctrine_n but_o second_o though_o those_o that_o live_v in_o our_o saviour_n time_n have_v evidence_n of_o sense_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o what_o they_o believe_v concern_v he_o and_o his_o doctrine_n which_o we_o have_v not_o yet_o this_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v that_o they_o labour_v under_o far_o great_a prejudices_fw-la against_o his_o religion_n than_o we_o now_o do_v and_o consequent_o all_o that_o sensible_a proof_n which_o they_o have_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o will_v not_o be_v more_o effectual_a for_o the_o convince_a of_o they_o than_o that_o proof_n we_o now_o have_v though_o it_o be_v less_o aught_o in_o reason_n to_o be_v for_o the_o convince_a of_o we_o they_o that_o be_v the_o hearer_n and_o spectator_n of_o what_o our_o saviour_n say_v and_o do_v have_v mighty_a and_o inveterate_a prepossession_n to_o struggle_v with_o they_o be_v educate_v in_o a_o quite_o different_a religion_n and_o so_o must_v be_v suppose_v to_o have_v entertain_v several_a notion_n and_o principle_n which_o will_v very_o difficult_o be_v root_v out_o and_o indeed_o for_o the_o effect_n of_o it_o there_o need_v little_o less_o than_o a_o almighty_a power_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o we_o we_o by_o our_o education_n be_v already_o dispose_v and_o prepare_v for_o the_o receive_a christianity_n we_o have_v no_o praevious_a engagement_n to_o alienate_v our_o mind_n from_o it_o nay_o it_o be_v our_o interest_n to_o be_v of_o that_o religion_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o so_o that_o certain_o a_o less_o evidence_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o will_v be_v as_o convince_a to_o we_o as_o a_o much_o great_a will_v have_v be_v to_o those_o to_o who_o our_o saviour_n first_o preach_v nay_o i_o be_o very_o confident_a that_o this_o thing_n be_v due_o consider_v it_o will_v appear_v that_o our_o argument_n for_o christianity_n draw_v from_o tradition_n will_v be_v more_o convince_a to_o think_v man_n among_o we_o than_o those_o argument_n they_o have_v from_o sense_n and_o experience_n can_v be_v to_o they_o but_o three_o if_o to_o what_o have_v be_v say_v we_o add_v the_o several_a argument_n for_o the_o credibility_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n which_o we_o now_o have_v at_o this_o distance_n that_o they_o have_v not_o nor_o can_v have_v that_o be_v our_o saviour_n immediate_a disciple_n we_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v that_o in_o point_n of_o evidence_n we_o have_v indeed_o much_o the_o advantage_n of_o they_o we_o have_v now_o several_a stand_a proof_n of_o our_o religion_n which_o they_o can_v not_o have_v and_o which_o be_v so_o strong_a and_o conclusive_a that_o they_o do_v more_o than_o compensate_a for_o the_o want_n of_o that_o evidence_n of_o sense_n which_o they_o have_v and_o we_o have_v not_o i_o brief_o instance_n in_o these_o three_o follow_v first_o the_o strange_a propagation_n and_o success_n of_o our_o religion_n throughout_o the_o world_n and_o the_o mean_n by_o which_o it_o be_v effect_v that_o a_o poor_a despise_a crucify_a person_n shall_v in_o a_o few_o year_n draw_v all_o the_o roman_a empire_n after_o he_o and_o that_o without_o any_o visible_a mean_n except_o the_o goodness_n of_o his_o cause_n and_o the_o reasonableness_n of_o his_o doctrine_n and_o the_o sincerity_n and_o constancy_n of_o his_o disciple_n not_o in_o fight_v for_o their_o master_n but_o in_o lay_v down_o their_o life_n for_o he_o and_o they_o be_v too_o nice_a and_o subtle_a for_o they_o to_o meddle_v with_o not_o but_o that_o they_o be_v good_a christian_n all_o the_o while_n for_o they_o can_v come_v to_o our_o church_n and_o to_o our_o sacrament_n too_o if_o there_o be_v occasion_n because_o indeed_o they_o will_v always_o be_v of_o the_o religion_n of_o the_o country_n where_o they_o live_v but_o at_o the_o same_o time_n
