crime_n to_o be_v ignorant_a of_o these_o or_o to_o believe_v the_o contrary_a if_o i_o do_v not_o know_v that_o they_o be_v deliver_v in_o holy_a scripture_n when_o therefore_o we_o speak_v of_o matter_n of_o faith_n contain_v in_o the_o creed_n we_o mean_v all_o necessary_a point_n of_o mere_a belief_n and_o of_o such_o we_o say_v it_o be_v a_o perfect_a summary_n no_o say_v the_o vindicator_n for_o it_o do_v not_o contain_v all_o that_o be_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o yet_o all_o that_o be_v there_o be_v of_o divine_a inspiration_n and_o of_o faith._n we_o grant_v it_o but_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v there_o be_v not_o equal_o of_o faith_n many_o of_o they_o be_v not_o absolute_a and_o necessary_a but_o only_o occasional_a and_o accidental_a object_n of_o faith_n as_o i_o have_v already_o show_v as_o for_o baptism_n and_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o acknowledge_v they_o to_o be_v great_a mystery_n of_o our_o religion_n but_o they_o be_v not_o point_n of_o mere_a faith_n and_o therefore_o not_o within_o the_o question_n that_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o such_o and_o such_o book_n be_v canonical_a depend_v upon_o another_o evidence_n by_o which_o we_o must_v be_v convince_v that_o they_o be_v so_o before_o we_o can_v give_v a_o rational_a assent_n to_o the_o article_n of_o the_o creed_n because_o they_o be_v all_o take_v out_o of_o these_o book_n and_o our_o belief_n of_o they_o build_v upon_o that_o authority_n the_o belief_n therefore_o of_o this_o be_v necessary_o antecedent_n to_o the_o belief_n of_o the_o other_o it_o will_v have_v be_v a_o very_a absurd_a and_o preposterous_a thing_n to_o have_v make_v that_o a_o article_n of_o our_o creed_n as_o for_o the_o 39_o article_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n they_o be_v propound_v only_o as_o article_n of_o communion_n not_o as_o article_n of_o faith_n and_o therefore_o the_o objection_n do_v not_o reach_v they_o and_o as_o for_o the_o nicene_n and_o athanasian_n creed_n they_o be_v only_a explication_n of_o the_o apostle_n creed_n and_o contain_v the_o same_o and_o no_o other_o faith_n but_o what_o be_v contain_v in_o that_o this_o i_o think_v may_v suffice_v to_o show_v that_o he_o have_v not_o yet_o answer_v that_o objection_n but_o if_o the_o vindicator_n desire_v yet_o further_o satisfaction_n in_o this_o point_n i_o will_v recommend_v to_o he_o if_o he_o be_v allow_v to_o read_v such_o book_n the_o four_o chapter_n of_o mr._n chillingworth_n book_n entitle_v the_o religion_n of_o protestant_n a_o safe_a way_n to_o salvation_n and_o objection_n reply_n reply_n but_o that_o objection_n be_v his_o own_o it_o be_v none_o of_o we_o our_o objection_n be_v this_o that_o not_o one_o of_o all_o these_o twelve_o new_a article_n in_o pope_n pius_n be_v creed_n be_v ever_o receive_v as_o a_o article_n of_o faith_n by_o the_o primitive_a church_n and_o to_o this_o he_o answer_v nothing_o there_o be_v no_o authority_n upon_o earth_n can_v make_v a_o new_a article_n of_o faith._n answ_n object_n answ_n to_o this_o he_o answer_v that_o there_o be_v a_o authority_n which_o can_v declare_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v of_o faith_n which_o be_v not_o before_o express_o so_o believe_v by_o all_o this_o we_o willing_o grant_v but_o this_o do_v not_o answer_v the_o objection_n reply_n reply_n for_o we_o do_v not_o question_v the_o church_n power_n to_o declare_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v of_o faith_n which_o before_o be_v dubious_a or_o not_o express_o believe_v by_o all_o but_o we_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o such_o authority_n in_o the_o church_n as_o to_o make_v that_o to_o be_v of_o faith_n which_o real_o be_v not_o so_o before_o i._n e._n to_o make_v a_o new_a article_n of_o faith._n and_o to_o this_o he_o return_v not_o one_o word_n of_o answer_n this_o authority_n can_v declare_v only_o such_o point_n object_n object_n as_o may_v be_v warrant_v by_o holy_a scripture_n and_o such_o as_o these_o be_v the_o subject_n of_o the_o thirty-nine_o article_n but_o as_o for_o pope_n pius_n creed_n it_o be_v but_o the_o invention_n of_o men._n for_o answer_v hereunto_o he_o refer_v we_o to_o what_o he_o have_v say_v in_o his_o book_n answ_n answ_n wherein_o he_o say_v he_o have_v show_v that_o all_o the_o article_n of_o this_o creed_n be_v found_v upon_o scripture_n and_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o most_o eminent_a man_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n and_o far_a faith_n that_o the_o thirty-nine_o article_n be_v not_o so_o express_v in_o scripture_n as_o these_o of_o pope_n pius_n whether_o there_o be_v any_o truth_n in_o the_o first_o part_n of_o his_o answer_n reply_n reply_n as_o he_o refer_v we_o to_o his_o book_n so_o i_o shall_v refer_v you_o to_o the_o answer_v give_v to_o it_o in_o these_o paper_n and_o to_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o his_o answer_n it_o may_v be_v a_o sufficient_a reply_n to_o remind_v he_o of_o what_o he_o have_v be_v often_o tell_v that_o the_o thirty-nine_o article_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n be_v not_o propound_v as_o article_n of_o faith_n but_o as_o article_n of_o communion_n nor_o be_v the_o belief_n of_o they_o require_v of_o all_o upon_o pain_n of_o damnation_n as_o these_o of_o pope_n pius_n be_v and_o therefore_o there_o be_v not_o so_o much_o danger_n in_o our_o compliance_n or_o noncompliance_a with_o the_o one_o as_o with_o the_o other_o whether_o these_o article_n of_o pope_n pius_n be_v found_v upon_o scripture_n have_v be_v one_o part_n of_o the_o question_n between_o we_o and_o therefore_o for_o satisfaction_n in_o this_o point_n i_o shall_v refer_v you_o to_o what_o have_v be_v say_v upon_o that_o subject_a on_o both_o side_n thus_o have_v i_o consider_v the_o vindicator_n answer_n to_o some_o objection_n which_o he_o think_v
