clear_a notion_n of_o that_o change_n make_v by_o the_o renovation_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o of_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n flow_v therefrom_o yet_o very_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v renew_v and_o to_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n when_o indeed_o it_o be_v otherwise_o thus_o in_o respect_n of_o those_o divine_v usual_o call_v close_a or_o secret_a hypocrite_n a_o man_n may_v be_v a_o hypocrite_n and_o yet_o not_o know_v it_o himself_o the_o show_v and_o appearance_n of_o grace_n and_o godliness_n deceive_v man_n own_a understanding_n it_o be_v often_o find_v that_o man_n of_o great_a knowledge_n and_o orthodox_n judgement_n be_v yet_o deceive_v in_o their_o own_o act_n and_o action_n every_o orthodox_n divine_a be_v not_o a_o sound_n christian_n let_v we_o then_o be_v awaken_v to_o a_o jealousy_n over_o ourselves_o it_o be_v dreadful_a to_o have_v lamp_n in_o our_o hand_n with_o a_o confidence_n of_o have_v oil_n in_o they_o till_o the_o time_n to_o obtain_v it_o be_v over_o but_o to_o hasten_v let_v the_o consideration_n of_o man_n proneness_n to_o error_n awaken_v we_o all_o to_o a_o holy_a jealousy_n over_o ourselves_o lest_o we_o shall_v have_v take_v up_o error_n instead_o of_o truth_n and_o that_o as_o error_n and_o deceit_n respect_v truth_n as_o contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n or_o as_o it_o respect_v ourselves_o and_o answerable_o make_v a_o through_o inquiry_n whether_o indeed_o we_o have_v not_o so_o do_v and_o if_o any_o shall_v say_v see_v there_o be_v such_o a_o proneness_n in_o man_n unto_o error_n and_o consequent_o all_o man_n be_v in_o danger_n to_o mistake_v and_o take_v up_o error_n instead_o of_o truth_n than_o it_o be_v possible_a we_o may_v lie_v under_o some_o error_n or_o deceit_n after_o the_o utmost_a inquiry_n we_o can_v make_v in_o answer_n it_o must_v be_v grant_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a it_o may_v be_v so_o let_v i_o therefore_o advise_v to_o three_o thing_n 1._o labour_n to_o interest_n jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o care_n of_o our_o soul_n labour_v to_o get_v under_o his_o care_n that_o the_o prevention_n of_o our_o ruin_n or_o any_o damage_n we_o may_v sustain_v by_o error_n may_v be_v his_o concern_v as_o well_o as_o our_o own_o but_o you_o will_v say_v how_o shall_v we_o do_v that_o answ_n 1._o by_o commit_v ourselves_o to_o he_o as_o the_o shepherd_n and_o bishop_n of_o soul_n the_o poor_a commit_v himself_o to_o the_o lord_n psal_n 10.14_o by_o humble_a supplication_n that_o he_o will_v undertake_v the_o work_n for_o we_o see_v the_o psalmist_n psal_n search_n whether_o we_o be_v not_o deceive_v and_o have_v not_o take_v up_o error_n instead_o of_o truth_n 2._o another_o use_v i_o will_v more_o especial_o make_v of_o the_o doctrine_n be_v to_o caution_n all_o against_o error_n for_o the_o future_a take_v heed_n our_o own_o understanding_n do_v not_o deceive_v we_o and_o lead_v we_o into_o error_n be_v very_o wary_a we_o be_v not_o impose_v upon_o either_o by_o satan_n or_o men._n our_o own_o understanding_n be_v not_o only_o dark_a and_o weak_a subject_a to_o variety_n of_o mistake_v and_o false-reasonings_a but_o there_o be_v a_o inclination_n and_o strange_a proclivity_n unto_o error_n connatural_a unto_o they_o and_o satan_n be_v continual_o endeavour_v to_o deceive_v we_o and_o man_n have_v their_o slight_v and_o cunning_a craftiness_n whereby_o they_o lie_v in_o wait_n to_o deceive_v eph._n 4.14_o hence_o great_a care_n and_o diligence_n be_v indispensable_o necessary_a unto_o our_o preservation_n from_o error_n hence_o all_o notion_n and_o sentiment_n arise_v up_o in_o or_o suggest_v to_o our_o mind_n as_o well_o as_o all_o doctrine_n or_o practice_n propose_v to_o and_o press_v upon_o we_o by_o man_n aught_o to_o be_v careful_o weigh_v and_o due_o examine_v before_o they_o be_v embrace_v and_o comply_v with_o and_o let_v it_o be_v remember_v that_o any_o notion_n doctrine_n or_o practice_n may_v be_v weigh_v and_o examine_v with_o more_o impartiality_n and_o sincerity_n before_o it_o be_v embrace_v and_o actual_o close_v with_o than_o it_o can_v after_o
