their_o set_a time_n and_o place_n of_o worship_n and_o how_o they_o look_v upon_o such_o offertory_n both_o as_o more_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n and_o more_o prevalent_a with_o he_o than_o any_o private_a address_n that_o they_o can_v make_v to_o he_o 17._o in_o these_o assembly_n they_o not_o only_o put_v up_o their_o prayer_n to_o god_n but_o receive_v also_o the_o holy_a sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o in_o that_o part_n of_o their_o service_n none_o officiate_v but_o either_o the_o bishop_n himself_o or_o he_o who_o be_v appoint_v or_o allow_v by_o he_o 18._o for_o they_o 20._o by_o the_o bishop_n be_v the_o christian_n bless_v and_o join_v together_o in_o the_o holy_a state_n of_o matrimony_n and_o indeed_o without_o he_o be_v nothing_o do_v of_o all_o that_o pertain_v unto_o religion_n 21._o in_o those_o time_n the_o clergy_n be_v marry_v as_o well_o as_o laity_n nor_o do_v we_o find_v it_o esteem_v the_o least_o scandal_n for_o they_o so_o to_o be_v 22._o here_o we_o may_v see_v what_o the_o ancient_a manner_n of_o fast_v be_v and_o what_o be_v think_v requisite_a to_o render_v such_o exercise_n acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o profitable_a to_o our_o own_o soul_n 23._o in_o short_a here_o we_o may_v perceive_v what_o their_o opinion_n be_v of_o repentance_n for_o sin_n and_o how_o hardly_o they_o think_v of_o those_o who_o be_v still_o repent_v and_o yet_o still_o continue_v to_o sin_n on_o notwithstanding_o their_o frequent_a repentance_n but_o especial_o here_o we_o be_v tell_v that_o we_o must_v finish_v our_o repentance_n before_o we_o die_v for_o that_o there_o be_v no_o place_n for_o repentance_n after_o 24._o and_o though_o they_o prescribe_v confession_n as_o one_o act_n of_o repentance_n and_o necessary_a to_o be_v perform_v in_o order_n to_o our_o forgiveness_n yet_o we_o find_v they_o advise_v it_o to_o be_v do_v to_o god_n only_o and_o intimate_v to_o we_o that_o that_o alone_o be_v sufficient_a 25._o but_o the_o care_n of_o their_o bishop_n in_o those_o first_o time_n be_v not_o confine_v within_o the_o narrow_a bound_n of_o their_o own_o church_n but_o extend_v to_o all_o the_o faithful_a wheresoever_o they_o be_v and_o they_o be_v still_o ready_a to_o look_v to_o those_o who_o be_v at_o the_o great_a distance_n from_o they_o whenever_o they_o think_v their_o advice_n or_o authority_n may_v be_v either_o useful_a to_o they_o or_o for_o the_o honour_n and_o benefit_n of_o their_o religion_n 26._o from_o this_o and_o from_o the_o general_a piety_n and_o excellence_n of_o their_o life_n join_v to_o the_o greatness_n of_o their_o character_n in_o the_o church_n come_v that_o mighty_a respect_n that_o be_v show_v to_o the_o bishop_n in_o those_o day_n and_o which_o how_o great_a it_o be_v the_o follow_a treatise_n abundant_o show_v 27._o but_o much_o great_a be_v their_o veneration_n for_o those_o who_o not_o only_o govern_v well_o and_o adorn_v their_o holy_a profession_n by_o a_o exemplary_a life_n but_o confirm_v the_o truth_n of_o it_o with_o their_o blood_n they_o be_v indeed_o of_o opinion_n that_o no_o man_n ought_v causeless_o to_o expose_v himself_o unto_o suffer_v but_o if_o god_n call_v a_o man_n to_o it_o they_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n will_v both_o support_v he_o in_o his_o conflict_n and_o most_o glorious_o reward_v he_o for_o the_o endure_a of_o they_o hence_o be_v it_o their_o opinion_n that_o martyrdom_n blot_v out_o all_o sin_n that_o they_o who_o suffer_v for_o the_o faith_n shall_v have_v a_o degree_n of_o glory_n peculiar_a to_o themselves_o above_o all_o other_o saint_n in_o god_n kingdom_n and_o when_o god_n show_v such_o regard_n for_o they_o they_o conclude_v that_o they_o can_v never_o almost_o do_v enough_o to_o testify_v their_o respect_n to_o they_o 28._o to_o this_o we_o must_v ascribe_v the_o care_n they_o take_v to_o gather_v up_o their_o remain_n the_o honour_n which_o they_o give_v
