represent_v in_o scripture_n vast_o different_a from_o each_o other_o as_o opposite_a as_o north_n and_o south_n and_o how_o natural_o consequent_a they_o be_v upon_o man_n temper_n and_o disposition_n upon_o their_o carriage_n and_o behaviour_n in_o this_o life_n we_o shall_v see_v in_o the_o next_o deduction_n from_o the_o text._n that_o the_o righteousness_n of_o man_n life_n have_v a_o natural_a tendency_n to_o happiness_n as_o their_o wickedness_n have_v to_o misery_n it_o be_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o nature_n that_o the_o tree_n lie_v where_o it_o fall_v and_o virtue_n and_o vice_n have_v no_o less_o natural_a inclination_n and_o tendency_n to_o happiness_n or_o misery_n to_o reward_n or_o punishment_n which_o if_o so_o and_o it_o follow_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n then_o we_o need_v not_o doubt_v but_o all_o man_n must_v necessary_o be_v either_o happy_a or_o miserable_a hereafter_o since_o all_o be_v either_o good_a or_o bad_a here_o now_o that_o this_o life_n be_v the_o state_n of_o trial_n and_o the_o other_o of_o retribution_n we_o all_o know_v and_o believe_v and_o that_o according_a to_o man_n behaviour_n here_o they_o be_v qualify_v for_o that_o state_n and_o condition_n they_o shall_v be_v put_v into_o hereafter_o we_o shall_v as_o ready_o grant_v if_o we_o consider_v what_o i_o take_v to_o be_v a_o undoubted_a truth_n namely_o that_o when_o we_o leave_v this_o world_n and_o go_v away_o into_o eternity_n we_o carry_v nothing_o with_o we_o but_o only_o the_o good_a or_o bad_a disposition_n of_o our_o soul_n so_o that_o we_o go_v into_o the_o other_o world_n either_o dispose_v for_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o that_o be_v good_a or_o prepare_v for_o the_o participation_n of_o all_o that_o be_v opposite_a thereunto_o if_o our_o affection_n be_v whole_o set_v on_o thing_n below_o and_o our_o desire_n carnal_a and_o sinful_a we_o be_v altogether_o unfit_a for_o the_o unmixed_a joy_n and_o spiritual_a delight_n of_o heaven_n and_o our_o sensual_a inclination_n and_o filthy_a propensity_n will_v sink_v we_o among_o the_o herd_n of_o wicked_a and_o impure_a spirit_n but_o if_o our_o affection_n have_v be_v set_v on_o thing_n above_o if_o our_o soul_n have_v centre_v on_o happiness_n and_o unwearied_o pursue_v it_o in_o those_o way_n and_o method_n which_o god_n have_v chalk_v out_o for_o the_o attainment_n of_o it_o we_o shall_v natural_o arrive_v at_o the_o rest_n of_o holy_a soul_n and_o be_v meet_a to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o inheritance_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o light_n all_o heaven_n be_v not_o hereafter_o nor_o hell_n only_o in_o the_o infernal_a region_n but_o there_o be_v something_o of_o heaven_n upon_o earth_n some_o foretaste_n of_o its_o happiness_n and_o the_o first_o fruit_n of_o its_o joy_n in_o the_o pleasant_a relish_v and_o ravish_a sense_n of_o virtue_n and_o the_o bless_a effect_n of_o a_o holy_a life_n and_o there_o be_v that_o carry_v with_o they_o a_o hell_n upon_o earth_n that_o be_v torment_v before_o the_o time_n and_o have_v kindle_v a_o fire_n which_o will_v never_o cease_v to_o burn_v they_o that_o be_v prick_v with_o the_o sting_n of_o a_o evil_a conscience_n and_o bite_v with_o that_o worm_n which_o will_v never_o cease_v to_o gnaw_v they_o the_o sum_n be_v they_o that_o keep_v close_o to_o the_o rule_n of_o virtue_n and_o purity_n of_o life_n and_o unwearied_o pursue_v the_o path_n of_o piety_n they_o also_o at_o the_o same_o time_n pursue_v their_o own_o happiness_n and_o be_v in_o the_o certain_a road_n that_o lead_v to_o bliss_n as_o they_o that_o persist_v in_o vice_n and_o run_v on_o headlong_o in_o their_o own_o evil_a course_n be_v haste_v on_o their_o own_o ruin_n and_o post_v on_o the_o broad_a way_n which_o lead_v to_o destruction_n for_o that_o which_o be_v the_o prevail_a temper_n of_o soul_n in_o this_o life_n will_v doubtless_o be_v so_o in_o the_o other_o too_o and_o they_o gross_o mistake_v who_o imagine_v otherwise_o as_o they_o seem_v to_o do_v who_o trust_n to_o a_o late_a repentance_n and_o commence_v religious_a only_o in_o their_o last_o sickness_n as_o if_o a_o change_n of_o mind_n and_o manner_n can_v be_v wrought_v all_o at_o once_o and_o man_n can_v in_o one_o moment_n divest_v themselves_o of_o old_a accustom_a habit_n and_o put_v
