dare_v promise_v life_n to_o any_o that_o have_v never_o receive_v it_o and_o indeed_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o those_o father_n who_o understand_v these_o word_n of_o the_o sacrament_n appoint_v it_o to_o be_v give_v to_o infant_n immediate_o after_o they_o be_v baptize_v for_o that_o be_v a_o necessary_a consequence_n that_o follow_v this_o exposition_n of_o our_o saviour_n word_n and_o yet_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n will_v not_o deny_v but_o if_o any_o die_v before_o he_o be_v adult_n or_o if_o a_o person_n convert_v be_v in_o such_o circumstance_n that_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o he_o to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n and_o so_o die_v without_o it_o he_o may_v have_v everlasting_a life_n therefore_o they_o must_v conclude_v that_o christ_n flesh_n may_v be_v eat_v by_o faith_n even_o without_o the_o sacrament_n again_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n he_o say_v whoso_o eat_v my_o flesh_n and_o drink_v my_o blood_n have_v eternal_a life_n these_o word_n must_v be_v understand_v in_o the_o same_o sense_n they_o have_v in_o the_o former_a verse_n they_o be_v indeed_o the_o reverse_n of_o it_o therefore_o since_o there_o be_v no_o addition_n of_o worthy_o necessary_a to_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o former_a verse_n neither_o be_v it_o necessary_a in_o this_o but_o it_o must_v be_v conclude_v christ_n be_v here_o speak_v of_o a_o thing_n without_o which_o none_o can_v have_v life_n and_o by_o which_o all_o have_v life_n therefore_o when_o

therefore_o it_o must_v be_v acknowledge_v that_o when_o our_o reason_n be_v well_o prepare_v according_a to_o those_o eternal_a rule_n of_o purity_n and_o virtue_n by_o which_o we_o be_v fit_v to_o consider_v of_o divine_a matter_n and_o when_o we_o careful_o weigh_v thing_n we_o must_v have_v some_o certain_a mean_n to_o be_v assure_v of_o what_o appear_v to_o we_o and_o though_o we_o be_v not_o infallible_a so_o that_o it_o be_v still_o possible_a for_o we_o by_o precipitation_n or_o undue_a preparation_n to_o be_v abuse_v into_o mistake_n yet_o we_o may_v be_v well_o assure_v that_o such_o connexion_n and_o inference_n as_o appear_v to_o we_o certain_a be_v infallible_o true_a if_o this_o be_v not_o acknowledge_v than_o all_o our_o obligation_n to_o believe_v any_o thing_n in_o religion_n will_v vanish_v for_o that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n that_o he_o make_v all_o thing_n and_o be_v to_o be_v acknowledge_v and_o obey_v by_o his_o creature_n that_o our_o soul_n shall_v accompany_v their_o church_n now_o in_o yield_a assent_n to_o this_o doctrine_n upon_o these_o proof_n the_o mind_n must_v be_v lead_v by_o many_o argument_n through_o a_o great_a many_o deduction_n and_o inference_n therefore_o we_o be_v either_o certain_a of_o these_o deduction_n or_o we_o be_v not_o if_o we_o be_v certain_a this_o must_v either_o be_v found_v on_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o church_n expound_v they_o or_o on_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o argu_n m_v =_o ment_n now_o we_o be_v to_o examine_v this_o authority_n not_o have_v yet_o submit_v to_o it_o this_o can_v determine_v our_o belief_n till_o we_o see_v good_a cause_n for_o it_o but_o in_o the_o discern_a this_o good_a cause_n of_o believe_v the_o church_n infallible_a they_o must_v say_v that_o a_o uncontrollable_a evidence_n of_o reason_n be_v ground_n enough_o to_o fix_v our_o faith_n on_o or_o there_o can_v be_v no_o certain_a ground_n to_o believe_v the_o church_n infallible_a so_o that_o it_o be_v apparent_a we_o must_v either_o receive_v with_o a_o firm_a persuasion_n what_o our_o soul_n present_a to_o we_o as_o uncontrollable_o true_a or_o else_o we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o believe_v there_o be_v a_o god_n or_o to_o be_v christian_n or_o to_o be_v as_o they_o will_v have_v we_o romanist_n and_o if_o it_o be_v acknowledge_v there_o be_v cause_n in_o some_o case_n for_o we_o to_o be_v determine_v by_o the_o clear_a evidence_n of_o reason_n in_o its_o judgement_n and_o inference_n then_o we_o have_v this_o truth_n gain_v that_o our_o reason_n be_v capable_a of_o make_v true_a and_o certain_a inference_n and_o that_o we_o have_v good_a cause_n to_o be_v determine_v in_o our_o belief_n by_o these_o and_o therefore_o inference_n from_o scripture_n ought_v to_o direct_v our_o belief_n nor_o can_v any_o thing_n be_v pretend_v against_o this_o but_o what_o must_v at_o the_o same_o time_n overthrow_v all_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n and_o turn_v we_o sceptical_a to_o every_o the_o better_o and_o every_o one_o that_o wrap_v up_o his_o meaning_n in_o obscure_a word_n he_o either_o do_v not_o distinct_o apprehend_v that_o about_o which_o he_o discourse_v or_o do_v not_o design_n that_o those_o to_o who_o he_o speak_v shall_v understand_v he_o mean_v only_o to_o amuse_v they_o if_o likewise_o he_o say_v any_o thing_n from_o which_o some_o absurd_a inference_n will_v think_v he_o intend_v that_o they_o to_o who_o he_o speak_v it_o may_v understand_v it_o otherwise_o why_o shall_v he_o have_v speak_v it_o to_o they_o and_o if_o he_o do_v intend_v they_o shall_v
