jesus_n christ_n come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o save_v the_o chief_a of_o sinner_n sinner_n of_o who_o every_o one_o may_v say_v i_o be_o chief_a now_o when_o faith_n act_v upon_o this_o truth_n jesus_n christ_n come_v to_o save_v sinner_n of_o who_o i_o be_o chief_a and_o so_o that_o he_o shed_v his_o blood_n for_o sinner_n and_o give_v himself_o a_o sacrifice_n and_o a_o atonement_n all_o these_o be_v truth_n proper_o within_o faith_n and_o christ_n and_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v upon_o they_o it_o be_v at_o home_n with_o itself_o and_o faith_n be_v also_o at_o home_n with_o christ_n and_o with_o the_o soul_n in_o they_o but_o now_o here_o be_v another_o great_a truth_n that_o whoever_o it_o be_v that_o do_v not_o cut_v off_o his_o right_a hand_n or_o pull_v out_o his_o right_a of_o faith_n indeed_o i_o can_v but_o apprehend_v there_o can_v be_v no_o difference_n between_o christian_n and_o christian_n in_o these_o point_n concern_v faith_n and_o so_o concern_v justification_n if_o we_o have_v but_o true_a and_o right_a apprehension_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o false_a faith_n of_o counterfeit_a faith_n that_o have_v never_o see_v christ_n but_o all_o true_a faith_n it_o have_v see_v christ_n it_o have_v come_v up_o to_o the_o very_a word_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o be_v to_o jesus_n christ_n the_o word_n so_o john_n 6._o 40._o there_o must_v be_v a_o sight_n of_o the_o son_n before_o there_o can_v be_v a_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o this_o be_v the_o the_o will_n of_o he_o that_o send_v i_o that_o every_o one_o which_o see_v the_o son_n and_o believe_v on_o he_o may_v have_v everlasting_a life_n and_o therefore_o as_o i_o tell_v you_o he_o be_v call_v the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o be_v the_o essential_a and_o eternal_a word_n of_o god_n manifest_v in_o flesh_n manifest_v in_o human_a nature_n and_o there_o be_v no_o sight_n of_o christ_n without_o his_o come_n to_o we_o without_o in_o a_o spiritual_a sense_n not_o only_o in_o a_o intellectual_a sense_n though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o shall_v be_v subservient_fw-fr and_o as_o it_o be_v the_o conveyance_n and_o vehicle_n of_o this_o sight_n but_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a sight_n wrought_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o o_o therefore_o this_o be_v the_o great_a point_n i_o will_v press_v upon_o you_o and_o indeed_o i_o have_v take_v notice_n that_o the_o most_o spiritual_a writer_n and_o preacher_n of_o faith_n they_o have_v say_v that_o faith_n be_v upon_o the_o person_n of_o the_o son_n the_o person_n of_o the_o eternal_a word_n in_o our_o nature_n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n it_o do_v not_o deal_v first_o of_o all_o with_o his_o benefit_n and_o salvation_n that_o come_v forth_o from_o thou_o and_o that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o all_o this_o christ_n say_v you_o may_v see_v immediate_o concern_v the_o person_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n so_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o galatian_n a_o place_n that_o be_v worthy_a our_o notice_n and_o that_o i_o shall_v have_v occasion_n of_o continual_a recourse_n to_o gal._n 2._o 20_o 21._o i_o be_o crucify_a principal_o go_v on_o and_o touch_v there_o close_a and_o fast_o upon_o the_o very_a person_n of_o christ_n o_o therefore_o that_o our_o soul_n now_o may_v find_v something_o of_o this_o go_v out_o to_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n a_o tender_a of_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n to_o we_o that_o jesus_n christ_n the_o word_n will_v come_v and_o show_v himself_o to_o we_o that_o in_o a_o spiritual_a sense_n we_o may_v see_v he_o with_o our_o eye_n and_o handle_v he_o with_o our_o hand_n we_o may_v have_v all_o assurance_n of_o a_o real_a union_n of_o a_o real_a touch_n betwixt_o christ_n and_o our_o soul_n and_o then_o i_o will_v desire_v you_o to_o take_v notice_n also_o of_o this_o that_o when_o this_o great_a revelation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n have_v come_v in_o and_o all_o truth_n it_o come_v in_o by_o jesus_n christ_n john_n 1._o 17._o the_o evangelist_n there_o have_v it_o express_o the_o law_n come_v by_o moses_n say_v he_o there_o be_v a_o measure_n of_o light_n give_v by_o the_o law_n but_o say_v he_o grace_n and_o truth_n come_v by_o jesus_n christ_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o one_o great_a scripture_n that_o will_v make_v this_o very_a plain_n notwithstanding_o i_o say_v no_o man_n that_o save_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n but_o he_o that_o do_v it_o by_o that_o faith_n that_o have_v take_v in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n if_o any_o man_n have_v not_o the_o son_n he_o have_v not_o the_o father_n if_o he_o do_v not_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o father_n by_o the_o son_n he_o have_v not_o the_o true_a and_o the_o right_a knowledge_n the_o true_a evangelical_n spiritual_n save_v knowledge_n so_o much_o as_o of_o a_o god_n so_o concern_v eternal_a happiness_n and_o misery_n there_o may_v be_v great_a light_n of_o truth_n offer_v from_o natural_a argument_n we_o never_o come_v to_o see_v and_o know_v truth_n indeed_o till_o we_o come_v to_o know_v they_o by_o the_o eternal_a word_n that_o word_n of_o god_n come_v in_o to_o we_o who_o be_v the_o truth_n therefore_o i_o beseech_v you_o that_o you_o will_v retain_v these_o thing_n in_o your_o mind_n and_o judgement_n and_o that_o you_o may_v be_v able_a when_o you_o hear_v dispute_n concern_v faith_n and_o concern_v justification_n by_o faith_n that_o you_o will_v remember_v that_o this_o be_v the_o true_a excellency_n of_o faith_n to_o touch_v the_o person_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n to_o come_v to_o he_o to_o see_v he_o to_o be_v unite_v to_o he_o as_o the_o great_a truth_n it_o be_v true_a all_o the_o truth_n that_o we_o have_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o be_v all_o of_o great_a excellency_n and_o of_o great_a necessity_n but_o they_o all_o centre_n in_o christ_n the_o truth_n who_o 〈◊〉_d the_o truth_n they_o centre_n in_o he_o who_o be_v the_o truth_n they_o be_v all_o but_o line_n flow_v from_o he_o and_o return_v to_o he_o i_o know_v every_o one_o will_v easy_o up_o the_o great_a deep_a of_o truth_n i_o say_v the_o great_a deep_a of_o truth_n be_v break_v up_o by_o the_o manifestation_n of_o christ_n the_o great_a cataract_n as_o they_o call_v they_o of_o heaven_n be_v open_v by_o this_o very_a wisdom_n the_o great_a flow_n in_o and_o cataract_n of_o truth_n have_v fly_v by_o the_o manifestation_n of_o christ_n indeed_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o conceive_v the_o greatness_n of_o this_o truth_n or_o to_o speak_v to_o you_o how_o great_o rich_a will_n heaven_n and_o saint_n and_o angel_n be_v make_v by_o know_v this_o great_a truth_n of_o the_o be_v demonstrate_v so_o real_o in_o the_o future_a state_n that_o it_o will_v make_v that_o kind_n of_o faith_n to_o cease_v that_o be_v a_o evidence_n of_o thing_n not_o see_v though_o it_o may_v still_o proper_o be_v call_v faith_n in_o regard_n of_o that_o infinite_a knowledge_n flow_v from_o god_n through_o influence_n by_o and_o in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o
christ_n but_o i_o say_v it_o can_v be_v throughout_o so_o for_o than_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v by_o christ_n and_o never_o know_v that_o they_o be_v save_v by_o christ_n then_o christ_n will_v be_v no_o more_o the_o saviour_n of_o his_o people_n than_o he_o be_v the_o saviour_n of_o stone_n or_o insensible_a rock_n we_o must_v therefore_o come_v to_o have_v a_o feeling_n and_o know_v that_o enjoy_v that_o happiness_n that_o happiness_n be_v only_o from_o god_n but_o as_o you_o know_v a_o blind_a man_n be_v never_o the_o better_a in_o point_n of_o light_n and_o sight_n though_o the_o sun_n be_v never_o so_o glorious_a every_o one_o that_o see_v the_o son_n and_o believe_v in_o he_o we_o must_v see_v he_o or_o else_o we_o can_v not_o know_v he_o be_v we_o we_o can_v have_v no_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o our_o soul_n will_v be_v still_o like_o unsensible_a rock_n and_o marble_n if_o there_o be_v not_o this_o sense_n by_o faith_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n by_o believe_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a truth_n that_o faith_n be_v a_o manifestation_n to_o we_o and_o within_o we_o that_o christ_n be_v we_o when_o our_o soul_n receive_v the_o touch_n of_o his_o love_n and_o grace_n upon_o we_o and_o we_o come_v to_o know_v and_o find_v the_o sweetness_n to_o taste_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v gracious_a and_o to_o know_v what_o a_o pearl_n we_o have_v in_o some_o measure_n and_o that_o we_o find_v christ_n be_v we_o and_o have_v give_v himself_o for_o we_o in_o the_o three_o place_n there_o can_v not_o else_o be_v a_o manifestatory_n glory_n it_o be_v true_a christ_n be_v glorious_a as_o a_o saviour_n but_o we_o can_v not_o glorify_v he_o if_o we_o do_v not_o know_v by_o faith_n that_o he_o be_v such_o a_o saviour_n this_o be_v that_o that_o the_o soul_n make_v its_o boast_n in_o god_n by_o this_o draw_v it_o to_o glory_n in_o christ_n and_o to_o give_v all_o the_o glory_n it_o can_v do_v to_o he_o because_o it_o find_v it_o in_o love_n that_o be_v in_o the_o love_n of_o jesus_n christ_n may_v be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v in_o your_o love_n to_o he_o i_o understand_v that_o first_o groundedness_n in_o love_n to_o christ_n a_o love_n that_o constrain_v we_o to_o live_v to_o he_o that_o die_v for_o we_o and_o then_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v with_o all_o saint_n what_o be_v the_o breadth_n and_o length_n and_o height_n and_o to_o know_v the_o love_n of_o christ_n which_o pass_v knowledge_n o_o that_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o particular_o that_o we_o may_v know_v the_o love_n of_o christ_n which_o pass_v knowldg_n and_o hereby_o we_o may_v come_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n o_o who_o be_v able_a to_o bring_v this_o great_a work_n into_o our_o heart_n why_o the_o apostle_n therefore_o conclude_v now_o unto_o he_o that_o be_v able_a to_o do_v exceed_v abundant_o above_o all_o that_o we_o ask_v or_o think_v according_a to_o the_o power_n that_o work_v in_o we_o it_o be_v he_o that_o work_v in_o we_o pray_v take_v notice_n of_o that_o rememember_v that_o he_o work_v above_o all_o that_o we_o ask_v or_o think_v and_o yet_o it_o be_v a_o power_n work_v in_o we_o that_o we_o may_v find_v and_o see_v it_o and_o have_v experience_n of_o it_o unto_o he_o be_v glory_n say_v he_o in_o the_o church_n by_o jesus_n christ_n throughout_o all_o age_n world_n without_o end_n amen_n the_o end_n of_o the_o five_o sermon_n the_o faith_n by_o which_o we_o be_v justify_v etc._n etc._n the_o six_o sermon_n rom._n 5._o 1._o therefore_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n from_o these_o word_n i_o have_v pitch_v upon_o that_o great_a point_n and_o doctrine_n of_o justify_v faith_n or_o of_o that_o faith_n by_o which_o we_o be_v justify_v and_o this_o faith_n it_o eye_n christ_n in_o a_o peculiar_a manner_n as_o i_o prove_v from_o john_n 17._o 7_o 8._o far_o they_o have_v know_v concern_v i_o that_o all_o thing_n whatsoever_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o be_v of_o thou_o for_o i_o have_v give_v unto_o they_o the_o word_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o and_o they_o have_v receive_v they_o as_o so_o give_v unto_o i_o and_o have_v know_v sure_o that_o i_o come_v out_o from_o thou_o and_o they_o have_v believe_v that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o so_o here_o be_v a_o constant_a eye_n of_o faith_n upon_o christ_n as_o i_o tell_v you_o there_o have_v never_o be_v such_o a_o notion_n of_o faith_n in_o scripture-sense_n in_o gospel_n sense_n if_o it_o have_v not_o be_v for_o christ_n if_o he_o the_o mediator_n have_v not_o be_v give_v i_o have_v speak_v of_o it_o as_o it_o be_v faith_n by_o which_o we_o be_v justify_v and_o the_o ground_n why_o it_o be_v faith_n that_o justify_v here_o mean_v which_o i_o have_v not_o mention_v before_o to_o you_o but_o rather_o depend_v upon_o other_o scripture_n for_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o now_o viz._n why_o this_o faith_n or_o believe_v be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o faith_n that_o justify_v even_o out_o of_o that_o john_n 17._o 7_o 8._o and_o the_o reason_n i_o give_v for_o it_o be_v because_o it_o be_v the_o faith_n upon_o which_o christ_n intercede_v pray_v observe_v it_o christ_n intercede_v for_o believer_n upon_o the_o faith_n that_o believer_n know_v sure_o and_o believe_v concern_v jesus_n christ_n for_o in_o the_o very_a next_o word_n you_o may_v observe_v it_o i_o pray_v for_o they_o say_v he_o i_o pray_v not_o for_o the_o world_n so_o he_o intercede_v for_o they_o they_o have_v know_v and_o believe_v that_o christ_n do_v sure_o come_v forth_o from_o god_n and_o that_o all_o thing_n of_o christ_n be_v divine_a infinite_o divine_a original_o divine_a now_o therefore_o upon_o whatsoever_o christ_n intercede_v pray_v consider_v in_o the_o very_a same_o line_n our_o foundation_n for_o righteousness_n and_o acceptance_n through_o christ_n rest_v his_o justify_v righteousness_n and_o redemption_n and_o his_o intercession_n run_v all_o upon_o one_o line_n together_o that_o be_v a_o plain_a point_n they_o go_v together_o i_o will_v give_v you_o but_o two_o place_n of_o scripture_n because_o i_o will_v not_o prevent_v myself_o in_o what_o i_o have_v especial_o to_o discourse_v of_o one_o be_v heb._n 9_o it_o be_v plain_a by_o all_o scripture_n that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v that_o great_a price_n of_o our_o redemption_n and_o that_o we_o be_v justify_v free_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n god_n set_v forth_o christ_n as_o a_o propitiaton_n through_o faith_n in_o his_o blood_n now_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o christ_n enter_v by_o his_o blood_n into_o heaven_n heb._n 9_o 12._o but_o by_o his_o own_o blood_n he_o enter_v in_o once_o into_o the_o holy_a place_n have_v obtain_v eternal_a redemption_n for_o we_o christ_n intercede_v now_o in_o heaven_n and_o in_o the_o holy_a place_n into_o that_o holy_a place_n make_v without_o hand_n he_o enter_v to_o intercede_v and_o again_o ver_fw-la 24._o christ_n enter_v not_o into_o the_o holy_a place_n make_v with_o hand_n which_o be_v the_o figure_n of_o the_o true_a but_o into_o heaven_n itself_o now_o to_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o we_o so_o that_o he_o intercede_v plain_o upon_o his_o blood_n for_o where_o he_o intercede_v he_o enter_v by_o his_o blood_n and_o in_o 1_o john_n 2._o 1._o you_o also_o have_v the_o advocateship_n and_o the_o propitiation_n of_o christ_n join_v together_o my_o little_a child_n these_o thing_n write_v i_o unto_o you_o that_o you_o sin_v not_o and_o if_o any_o man_n sin_n we_o have_v a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n viz._n jesus_n christ_n the_o righteous_a and_o he_o be_v the_o propitiation_n for_o our_o sin_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o this_o be_v the_o clear_a ground_n i_o bottom_n this_o truth_n upon_o upon_o what_o christ_n intercede_v that_o be_v certain_o justify_v now_o he_o intercede_v upon_o the_o faith_n of_o believer_n i_o pray_v for_o they_o i_o pray_v not_o for_o the_o world_n viz._n for_o they_o who_o know_v sure_o and_o believe_v in_o i_o i_o have_v endeavour_v to_o open_a faith_n also_o to_o you_o so_o that_o you_o may_v have_v a_o right_a understanding_n that_o faith_n do_v not_o justify_v as_o it_o be_v a_o act_n of_o we_o or_o a_o grace_n in_o we_o or_o any_o thing_n in_o we_o but_o only_o by_o its_o receive_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n i_o come_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o assurance_n of_o faith_n they_o have_v know_v and_o they_o have_v sure_o know_v and_o they_o have_v believe_v that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o knowledge_n or_o as_o the_o learned_a speak_v and_o the_o great_a man_n of_o reason_n call_v it_o science_n be_v the_o high_a degree_n of_o understanding_n now_o this_o our_o lord_n attribute_n to_o faith_n in_o that_o john_n 17._o they_o have_v know_v for_o christ_n do_v not_o come_v mean_o down_o when_o he_o have_v say_v they_o have_v
of_o god_n i_o say_v shall_v send_v out_o so_o great_a a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o the_o apostle_n james_n be_v to_o lay_v down_o a_o position_n so_o contrary_a as_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v to_o paul_n that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o justify_v by_o faith_o but_o by_o work_n and_o to_o make_v so_o great_a a_o appearance_n against_o that_o truth_n that_o great_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o to_o give_v occasion_n to_o so_o many_o enemy_n of_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n and_o to_o so_o many_o divine_v and_o strange_a kind_n of_o representation_n of_o this_o great_a truth_n by_o man_n in_o all_o age_n bear_v up_o themselves_o upon_o the_o authority_n of_o such_o a_o place_n of_o scripture_n as_o this_o be_v now_o therefore_o by_o way_n of_o answer_n to_o it_o i_o shall_v not_o be_v long_o although_o the_o thing_n require_v indeed_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o thought_n and_o consideration_n and_o i_o hope_v god_n will_v enable_v i_o to_o give_v it_o in_o sum_n though_o i_o can_v speak_v so_o large_a of_o it_o the_o first_o thing_n i_o desire_v you_o to_o consider_v be_v that_o certain_o upon_o this_o great_a point_n i_o be_o very_o clear_a in_o it_o we_o be_v call_v to_o consider_v that_o if_o we_o speak_v indeed_o strict_o and_o downright_o to_o the_o point_n a_o man_n be_v no_o more_o justify_v by_o faith_n as_o it_o be_v a_o grace_n or_o a_o act_n or_o a_o work_n or_o whatsoever_o you_o call_v it_o in_o itself_o i_o say_v no_o more_o justify_v by_o it_o than_o he_o be_v by_o work_n certain_o god_n will_v have_v we_o fetch_v about_o every_o way_n and_o consider_v how_o this_o can_v be_v that_o the_o apostle_n james_n can_v seem_v so_o to_o contradict_v the_o apostle_n paul_n now_o the_o first_o thing_n that_o offer_v itself_o to_o we_o be_v that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o indeed_o justify_v by_o faith_n upon_o any_o merit_n excellency_n or_o worth_n or_o desert_n that_o be_v in_o faith_n itself_o as_o i_o tell_v you_o if_o faith_n shall_v pretend_v to_o it_o it_o will_v be_v throw_v like_o lucifer_n out_o of_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o by_o faith_n in_o itself_o and_o then_o second_o i_o do_v believe_v that_o in_o the_o same_o sense_n wherein_o faith_n be_v say_v to_o be_v justify_v in_o dependence_n upon_o the_o righteousness_n of_o chriâ—t_n in_o the_o same_o sense_n work_n may_v be_v say_v to_o justify_v in_o dependence_n upon_o faith_n pray_v observe_v what_o i_o say_v i_o say_v faith_n justify_v in_o dependence_n upon_o christ_n and_o work_n may_v be_v say_v to_o justify_v in_o dependence_n upon_o faith_n for_o in_o the_o same_o degree_n wherein_o faith_n stand_v to_o christ_n for_o righteousness_n in_o the_o same_o degree_n may_v work_n stand_v to_o faith_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o justification_n so_o that_o work_v depend_v upon_o faith_n and_o that_o depend_v whole_o upon_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o if_o this_o be_v serious_o consider_v it_o will_v clear_v to_o you_o what_o else_o may_v seem_v a_o very_a great_a doubt_n now_o therefore_o to_o lay_v down_o plain_o my_o sense_n of_o the_o apostle_n scope_n of_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n and_o not_o by_o faith_n only_o there_o be_v these_o three_o sense_n in_o which_o it_o may_v be_v understand_v and_o i_o shall_v make_v out_o every_o one_o to_o you_o by_o plain_a expression_n of_o the_o apostle_n james_n and_o yet_o very_o brief_o leave_v it_o especial_o to_o your_o own_o meditation_n and_o thought_n upon_o it_o the_o first_o be_v this_o that_o wherever_o a_o man_n be_v suppose_v by_o the_o apostle_n james_n to_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n and_o not_o by_o faith_n only_o it_o be_v because_o faith_n and_o work_n have_v a_o kind_n of_o hypostatical_a union_n a_o personal_a union_n so_o that_o to_o say_v faith_n and_o work_v be_v to_o say_v no_o more_o than_o to_o say_v whole_a faith_n entire_a faith_n for_o if_o faith_n have_v not_o work_n it_o be_v false_a faith_n it_o be_v counterfeit_n faith_n it_o be_v not_o whole_a entire_a true_a faith_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n mean_v nothing_o more_o by_o it_o than_o only_o that_o if_o you_o will_v know_v what_o faith_n you_o be_v justify_v by_o it_o be_v faith_n that_o have_v a_o mighty_a power_n of_o operation_n or_o work_n and_o therefore_o i_o understand_v no_o more_o by_o the_o apostle_n james_n speak_v of_o work_n join_v with_o faith_n than_o the_o apostle_n paul_n say_v the_o work_n of_o faith_n with_o power_n faith_n have_v a_o mighty_a power_n of_o work_v by_o faith_n they_o do_v so_o and_o so_o all_o along_o heb_fw-mi 11._o this_o be_v through_o faith_n a_o mighty_a operate_n work_a faith_n and_o when_o jesus_n christ_n give_v himself_o he_o always_o give_v a_o operate_a faith_n so_o he_o give_v himself_o only_o to_o a_o faith_n that_o he_o know_v have_v mighty_a power_n and_o principle_n of_o operation_n it_o be_v because_o it_o be_v true_a faith_n whole_a faith_n entire_a faith_n the_o faith_n of_o god_n give_v like_o precious_a faith_n as_o you_o know_v in_o a_o jewel_n if_o it_o be_v only_o a_o counterfeit_n it_o want_v some_o of_o the_o essential_a excellency_n of_o a_o jewel_n as_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v think_v to_o be_v make_v rich_a by_o a_o false_a jewel_n it_o be_v a_o false_a counterfeit_a appearance_n though_o it_o may_v have_v some_o appearance_n of_o a_o true_a stone_n yet_o it_o want_v the_o true_a exccellency_n and_o value_n of_o it_o so_o the_o apostle_n discourse_n and_o show_v what_o a_o true_a real_a work_v justify_v operate_a faith_n be_v james_z 2._o 16._o if_o a_o brother_n or_o sister_n be_v naked_a and_o destitute_a of_o daily_a food_n and_o one_o of_o you_o say_v unto_o he_o depart_v in_o peace_n be_v you_o warm_v and_o fill_v notwithstanding_o you_o give_v they_o not_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v needful_a for_o the_o body_n you_o know_v this_o be_v a_o false_a charity_n and_o so_o it_o be_v a_o false_a faith_n that_o pretend_v to_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o can_v act_v suitable_o and_o again_o he_o faith_n as_o the_o body_n without_o the_o spirit_n be_v dead_a so_o faith_n without_o work_n be_v dead_a also_o now_o if_o we_o shall_v make_v a_o dead_a man_n set_v his_o hand_n to_o a_o write_n you_o know_v that_o write_n be_v of_o no_o value_n though_o you_o may_v guide_v the_o hand_n of_o the_o dead_a man_n to_o write_v so_o and_o so_o while_o you_o guide_v the_o hand_n because_o he_o be_v a_o man_n without_o spirit_n he_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man._n and_o so_o faith_n if_o it_o have_v not_o all_o the_o grace_n and_o action_n suitable_a to_o it_o it_o be_v but_o a_o dead_a faith_n it_o be_v dead_a as_o the_o apostle_n say_v and_o it_o be_v but_o the_o faith_n of_o devil_n it_o be_v not_o a_o perfect_a faith_n it_o have_v not_o true_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v not_o as_o i_o may_v the_o whole_a person_n of_o faith_n this_o be_v the_o first_o sense_n the_o apostle_n aim_v and_o drive_v at_o to_o distinguish_v true_a faith_n from_o a_o mere_a formal_a professionary_a faith_n say_v as_o man_n do_v i_o believe_v in_o one_o god_n the_o father_n almighty_a and_o so_o you_o know_v they_o go_v on_o now_o a_o mere_a profession_n of_o faith_n without_o the_o power_n of_o faith_n in_o a_o man_n soul_n it_o be_v but_o the_o counterfeit_a image_n of_o faith_n and_o not_o faith_n itself_o so_o james_n say_v thou_o believe_v there_o be_v one_o god_n etc._n etc._n in_o this_o second_o place_n this_o indeed_o be_v the_o way_n that_o god_n do_v general_o demonstrate_v and_o manifest_v the_o truth_n of_o faith_n to_o the_o soul_n of_o believer_n and_o to_o the_o observation_n of_o other_o and_o so_o it_o be_v true_a that_o faith_n can_v demonstrate_v itself_o either_o to_o a_o believer_n soul_n or_o in_o ordinary_a and_o general_a speak_v it_o can_v manifest_v itself_o except_o it_o have_v work_n and_o so_o that_o sense_n that_o some_o interpreter_n give_v of_o this_o discourse_n of_o the_o apostle_n here_o be_v that_o one_o faith_n justify_v before_o god_n and_o the_o other_o justify_v before_o man_n that_o be_v faith_n in_o its_o work_n justify_v before_o man_n but_o faith_n alone_o taking_z christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n before_o god_n though_o it_o be_v always_o a_o faith_n that_o have_v within_o itself_o such_o a_o power_n of_o action_n as_o to_o demonstrate_v itself_o to_o man_n or_o else_o it_o be_v but_o a_o dead_a faith_n and_o a_o vain_a man_n it_o be_v that_o look_v upon_o a_o faith_n to_o be_v faith_n that_o have_v not_o this_o mighty_a operation_n and_o so_o the_o apostle_n say_v faith_n wrought_v with_o work_n he_o do_v not_o say_v his_o work_n be_v alone_o but_o faith_n wrought_v
