what_o heroical_a act_n the_o love_n of_o christ_n our_o lord_n have_v wrought_v in_o this_o world_n in_o those_o heart_n where_o it_o have_v dwell_v it_o have_v make_v they_o endure_v prison_n torment_n dishonour_n and_o that_o with_o much_o joy_n while_o the_o great_a worth_n of_o the_o belove_a have_v be_v place_v before_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o lover_n and_o since_o it_o have_v wrought_v so_o great_a effect_n in_o other_o let_v it_o not_o be_v so_o weak_a in_o your_o ladyship_n as_o that_o it_o can_v enable_v you_o to_o pass_v through_o a_o little_a affliction_n for_o the_o please_a of_o so_o high_a a_o lord_n by_o who_o you_o shall_v be_v so_o much_o the_o better_o accept_v as_o you_o shall_v come_v to_o he_o with_o more_o affliction_n yet_o so_o as_o that_o our_o lord_n be_v not_o desirous_a of_o our_o pain_n but_o only_o of_o our_o love_n but_o yet_o it_o be_v still_o true_a withal_o that_o the_o truth_n of_o love_n be_v hardly_o know_v but_o in_o somewhat_o which_o put_v we_o to_o pain_n 6._o eccl._n 6._o for_o the_o friend_n who_o stand_v fast_o in_o time_n of_o tribulation_n he_o be_v the_o true_a friend_n indeed_o and_o though_o god_n do_v well_o know_v what_o we_o be_v without_o make_v any_o particular_a experiment_n yet_o he_o love_v to_o try_v we_o that_o we_o may_v know_v it_o too_o that_o so_o we_o may_v have_v comfort_n in_o find_v ourselves_o faithful_a to_o he_o in_o point_n of_o love_n and_o so_o may_v live_v in_o hope_n that_o we_o shall_v go_v to_o enjoy_v our_o belove_a for_o patience_n breed_v hope_n rom._n rom._n as_o s._n paul_n say_v so_o that_o this_o must_v be_v your_o method_n till_o you_o have_v perfect_a health_n that_o when_o you_o be_v free_a from_o your_o vomitt_n &_o pain_n you_o may_v exercise_v your_o mind_n in_o spiritual_a thing_n and_o at_o those_o time_n you_o must_v alsoe_o beseech_v our_o lord_n to_o give_v you_o light_n to_o know_v when_o it_o be_v the_o flattery_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o when_o it_o be_v just_a necessity_n which_o hinder_v you_o for_o he_o who_o use_v the_o knowledge_n well_o which_o he_o have_v shall_v obtain_v light_a for_o that_o which_o he_o know_v not_o but_o as_o for_o other_o with_o what_o face_n can_v they_o ask_v new_a light_n since_o it_o may_v be_v answer_v they_o thus_o why_o desire_v thou_o to_o know_v further_o what_o my_o will_n and_o pleasure_n be_v since_o in_o that_o which_o thou_o know_v already_o thou_o complye_v not_o and_o when_o you_o be_v in_o any_o ease_n though_o it_o be_v not_o much_o let_v your_o mind_n alsoe_o be_v in_o some_o exercise_n of_o spiritual_a thing_n though_o it_o be_v not_o much_o nor_o with_o much_o attention_n but_o only_o record_v your_o desire_n and_o present_v yourself_o before_o our_o lord_n and_o by_o this_o and_o withal_o by_o not_o let_v your_o hart_n sink_v for_o even_o the_o very_a life_n of_o the_o soul_n consist_v in_o that_o your_o ladyship_n shall_v pass_v on_o until_o that_o god_n provide_v otherwise_o the_o woman_n of_o samaria_n ask_v where_o she_o be_v to_o pray_v 4._o john_n 4._o and_o our_o lord_n answer_v she_o that_o it_o be_v every_o where_n to_o be_v do_v and_o that_o in_o spirit_n and_o so_o be_v the_o christian_n to_o do_v who_o in_o all_o his_o work_n be_v to_o pray_v to_o our_o lord_n not_o in_o the_o mountain_n or_o in_o the_o temple_n alone_o but_o in_o eat_v drink_v and_o sleep_v in_o health_n and_o in_o sickness_n refer_v all_o to_o god_n and_o joy_v in_o all_o thing_n because_o he_o receive_v they_o from_o that_o holy_a hand_n your_o ladyship_n be_v to_o have_v great_a care_n that_o you_o straighten_v not_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n since_o he_o be_v immense_a do_v not_o think_v that_o you_o be_v to_o seek_v he_o and_o to_o find_v he_o but_o only_o in_o such_o a_o express_a place_n or_o determinate_a work_n he_o be_v every_o where_o and_o you_o be_v with_o he_o and_o if_o you_o seek_v he_o every_o where_o 7._o sap._n 7._o you_o shall_v every_o where_o be_v sure_a to_o find_v he_o i_o rejoice_v say_v the_o wise_a man_n in_o all_o thing_n because_o this_o wisdom_n go_v before_o i_o and_o so_o do_v he_o alsoe_o rejoice_v who_o in_o all_o thing_n behould_v god_n perform_v that_o which_o he_o command_v and_o ever_o keep_v the_o hart_n in_o attention_n towards_o he_o and_o from_o the_o contrary_n flow_v sadness_n and_o disgust_v shall_v do_v well_o to_o receive_v the_o body_n of_o our_o lord_n now_o and_o then_o and_o since_o the_o lodging_n which_o he_o take_v up_o be_v in_o the_o hart_n you_o be_v not_o to_o be_v in_o pain_n for_o that_o your_o body_n be_v no_o better_o and_o though_o there_o may_v be_v some_o impediment_n why_o we_o can_v labour_v yet_o there_o can_v be_v none_o why_o we_o may_v not_o love_v so_o much_o the_o more_o must_v we_o love_v our_o lord_n because_o he_o be_v both_o omnipotent_a and_o very_o desirous_a to_o give_v strength_n to_o that_o hart_n which_o seek_v to_o love_v he_o for_o this_o tend_v to_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o that_o very_a thing_n which_o he_o like_v best_o of_o all_o other_o both_o in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o that_o be_v love._n wherewith_o i_o desire_v who_o he_o have_v great_o in_o charge_n and_o who_o fear_v herself_o to_o be_v troublesome_a to_o he_o he_o take_v all_o fear_n from_o she_o and_o animate_v she_o to_o persevere_v in_o the_o way_n think_v that_o you_o be_v troublesome_a to_o i_o ay_o for_o my_o part_n have_v not_o take_v upon_o i_o so_o in_o jest_n that_o charge_n of_o you_o which_o our_o lord_n have_v put_v into_o my_o hand_n as_o that_o any_o difficulty_n can_v make_v i_o weary_a of_o it_o how_o great_a soever_o it_o may_v be_v and_o how_o much_o less_o can_v i_o be_v weary_a when_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v not_o painful_a to_o i_o but_o delightful_a i_o beseech_v you_o for_o the_o love_n of_o our_o lord_n that_o you_o will_v ask_v he_o whether_o i_o love_v you_o or_o no_o for_o i_o hope_v for_o so_o much_o favour_n at_o his_o hand_n as_o that_o he_o will_v tell_v you_o i_o do_v forasmuch_o as_o he_o be_v a_o friend_n of_o truth_n and_o he_o know_v that_o the_o thing_n indeed_o be_v so_o do_v you_o not_o already_o understád_v that_o this_o be_v but_o a_o trick_n of_o the_o devil_n understád_v that_o this_o be_v but_o a_o trick_n of_o the_o devil_n whereby_o he_o will_v pull_v down_o weak_a person_n not_o conceive_v that_o they_o be_v belove_v by_o their_o friend_n
constrain_v he_o since_o there_o be_v no_o remedy_n but_o that_o he_o will_v become_v man_n that_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v bear_v in_o so_o hard_a and_o so_o bitter_a a_o time_n of_o the_o year_n and_o in_o a_o country_n where_o he_o be_v a_o stranger_n and_o instead_o of_o a_o house_n that_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v in_o a_o stable_n and_o all_o this_o in_o so_o great_a poverty_n and_o baseness_n that_o he_o well_o deserve_v compassion_n at_o our_o hand_n certain_o no_o other_o thing_n but_o love_n can_v have_v bring_v he_o as_o it_o be_v all_o bind_v from_o heaven_n to_o the_o most_o pure_a womb_n of_o our_o bless_a lady_n and_o from_o that_o womb_n it_o bring_v he_o to_o that_o hard_a manger_n and_o from_o thence_o to_o many_o other_o affliction_n and_o so_o at_o last_o to_o the_o cross_n where_o love_v we_o with_o much_o truth_n of_o love_n he_o procure_v that_o we_o may_v true_o love_v he_o as_o himself_o have_v say_v before_o if_o i_o be_v exalt_v from_o the_o earth_n i_o will_v draw_v all_o thing_n up_o to_o myself_o 21._o john_n 3_o â—um_fw-la 21._o exalt_v from_o the_o earth_n signify_v to_o die_v upon_o the_o cross_n as_o he_o do_v and_o then_o draw_v he_o all_o thing_n to_o himself_o by_o mean_n of_o that_o mighty_a love_n which_o he_o kindle_v in_o the_o hart_n of_o man_n for_o look_v towards_o this_o true_a lover_n some_o have_v be_v content_a to_o forget_v their_o country_n and_o to_o live_v in_o continual_a pilgrimage_n other_o to_o forsake_v their_o estate_n and_o to_o live_v in_o poverty_n other_o have_v offer_v themselves_o to_o several_a affliction_n yea_o and_o to_o death_n itself_o desire_v rather_o to_o suffer_v for_o christ_n our_o lord_n then_o to_o be_v delight_v any_o way_n but_o in_o he_o and_o let_v his_o mercy_n be_v praise_v for_o ever_o for_o that_o among_o they_o who_o through_o the_o noble_a love_n of_o the_o crucifix_n have_v forget_v all_o their_o fortune_n and_o themselves_o withal_o yourself_o be_v grow_v to_o be_v one_o not_o of_o yourself_o but_o by_o he_o who_o work_v his_o own_o glory_n in_o you_o and_o therefore_o he_o will_v not_o leave_v you_o in_o the_o weak_a hand_n of_o yourself_o alone_o since_o he_o &_o not_o you_o begin_v the_o work_n you_o therefore_o my_o good_a lady_n may_v well_o rejoice_v you_o may_v rejoice_v in_o god_n since_o you_o be_v well_o protect_v under_o a_o the_o hot_a it_o burn_v christ_n our_o lord_n make_v you_o his_o true_a and_o faithful_a disciple_n that_o so_o you_o may_v in_o some_o sort_n correspond_v to_o that_o unspeakable_a and_o divine_a love_n of_o he_o as_o i_o cordial_o desire_v of_o he_o for_o you_o a_o letter_n to_o a_o reverend_a and_o religious_a person_n encourage_v he_o towards_o the_o perfect_a love_n of_o god_n and_o represent_v to_o he_o some_o mean_n for_o the_o obtain_v thereof_o reverend_a father_n pax_fw-la christi_fw-la since_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v not_o please_v that_o at_o this_o time_n i_o
