must_v needs_o be_v so_o brethren_n that_o god_n be_v a_o god_n of_o truth_n for_o god_n be_v the_o author_n of_o all_o truth_n he_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o truth_n and_o you_o know_v a_o fountain_n can_v contain_v sweet_a water_n and_o bitter_a he_o be_v light_a and_o in_o he_o be_v no_o darkness_n at_o all_o he_o be_v truth_n itself_o and_o no_o lie_n there_o can_v be_v no_o falsehood_n at_o all_o in_o he_o he_o be_v the_o author_n of_o truth_n the_o devil_n be_v the_o author_n of_o lie_n and_o the_o founder_n of_o they_o the_o devil_n be_v the_o father_n of_o lie_n and_o therefore_o god_n can_v be_v the_o father_n of_o they_o but_o he_o be_v the_o author_n of_o 〈◊〉_d but_o â—gain_o it_o can_v be_v that_o god_n shall_v speak_v that_o which_o be_v not_o truth_n which_o he_o do_v not_o intend_v for_o god_n be_v a_o unalterable_a god_n a_o unchangeable_a god_n he_o do_v speak_v and_o unspeak_v again_o but_o he_o be_v immutable_a and_o unchangeable_a the_o same_o to_o day_n and_o forever_o without_o any_o shadow_n of_o turn_v in_o our_o speak_v there_o be_v change_n and_o shadow_n of_o turn_v but_o there_o be_v no_o shadow_n of_o change_n or_o turn_n in_o god_n he_o say_v not_o one_o thing_n and_o intend_v another_o if_o god_n shall_v promise_v life_n and_o salvation_n unto_o all_o those_o that_o lay_v hold_v of_o righteousness_n and_o life_n and_o then_o they_o fall_v short_a of_o it_o here_o be_v change_n and_o shadow_n of_o turn_v but_o there_o be_v no_o shadow_n
two_o last_o verse_n in_o meekness_n instruct_v those_o that_o oppose_v themselves_o if_o god_n peradventure_o will_v give_v they_o repentance_n to_o the_o acknowledge_v of_o the_o truth_n god_n may_v peradventure_o give_v they_o repentance_n though_o it_o be_v a_o certain_a truth_n that_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n yet_o thus_o much_o i_o may_v say_v to_o help_v to_o take_v off_o this_o objection_n that_o there_o be_v a_o perhaps_o if_o you_o be_v find_v diligent_a in_o seek_v god_n and_o humble_v your_o soul_n before_o the_o lord_n peradventure_o you_o may_v be_v forgive_v i_o do_v not_o say_v you_o shall_v certain_o be_v forgive_v and_o god_n will_v certain_o hear_v you_o but_o perhaps_o as_o peter_n say_v to_o simon_n magus_n perhaps_o and_o if_o peradventure_o say_v paul_n god_n will_v give_v they_o repentance_n then_o here_o be_v a_o perhaps_o for_o those_o that_o be_v unbeliever_n that_o god_n may_v gracious_o please_v to_o have_v respect_n towards_o they_o though_o god_n be_v not_o please_v with_o they_o not_o their_o prayer_n and_o duty_n therefore_o let_v not_o this_o temptation_n prevail_v over_o you_o upon_o that_o account_n namely_o to_o give_v over_o all_o because_o you_o can_v please_v god_n by_o what_o you_o do_v peradventure_o god_n may_v have_v respect_n towards_o you_o but_o now_o if_o you_o go_v on_o and_o cast_v off_o seek_v god_n and_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o go_v on_o in_o your_o sinful_a way_n and_o course_n there_o be_v no_o perhaps_o for_o such_o no_o but_o if_o man_n sin_v wilful_o mark_v the_o expression_n in_o heb._n 10.25_o 26._o if_o man_n sin_v wilful_o and_o cast_v off_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n wilful_o there_o be_v no_o perhaps_o for_o such_o he_o put_v a_o impossibility_n upon_o himself_o ever_o to_o be_v recover_v therefore_o give_v not_o way_n to_o the_o temptation_n but_o say_v well_o there_o be_v a_o peradventure_o and_o perhaps_o for_o i_o though_o i_o be_v a_o unbeliever_n but_o second_o let_v i_o answer_v it_o in_o another_o thing_n though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n nay_o though_o we_o do_v displease_v god_n by_o all_o that_o we_o do_v make_v the_o objection_n as_o strong_a as_o you_o can_v it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n by_o all_o my_o prayer_n tear_n and_o confession_n in_o my_o waiting_n upon_o god_n yet_o notwithstanding_o know_v and_o understand_v it_o for_o a_o truth_n that_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o displease_a god_n a_o man_n may_v displease_v god_n more_o or_o less_o look_v into_o zachariah_n 1.15_o i_o be_o very_o sore_o displease_v with_o the_o heathen_a that_o be_v at_o ease_n for_o i_o be_v but_o a_o little_a displease_v and_o they_o help_v forward_o the_o affliction_n god_n may_v be_v sore_o displease_v and_o god_n may_v be_v less_o displease_v with_o a_o person_n as_o now_o if_o one_o sin_n do_v displease_v god_n will_v not_o many_o sin_n displease_v he_o much_o more_o if_o that_o which_o we_o call_v a_o small_a sin_n will_v displease_v god_n than_o a_o great_a sin_n will_v diplease_v he_o much_o more_o so_o now_o if_o we_o displease_v god_n by_o our_o duty_n and_o service_n then_o may_v we_o not_o displease_v god_n much_o more_o by_o cast_v off_o duty_n nay_o may_v we_o not_o displease_v he_o most_o of_o all_o not_o only_o by_o cast_v of_o duty_n but_o by_o run_v desperate_o and_o headlong_o into_o all_o manner_n of_o evil._n mark_v how_o you_o conclude_v you_o can_v please_v god_n by_o what_o you_o do_v therefore_o you_o will_v displease_v he_o more_o this_o be_v to_o run_v headlong_o and_o desperate_o into_o the_o low_a hell_n as_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n as_o one_o star_n differ_v from_o another_o star_n in_o glory_n so_o there_o be_v degree_n of_o torment_n in_o hell_n it_o shall_v be_v more_o tolerable_a for_o sodom_n and_o gommorah_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n than_o for_o those_o that_o have_v the_o gospel_n and_o do_v not_o improve_v it_o as_o she_o have_v fare_v delicious_o say_v god_n so_o much_o the_o more_o torment_n give_v she_o say_v god_n in_o revelation_n 18.7_o so_o now_o because_o we_o do_v displease_v god_n by_o what_o we_o do_v in_o our_o duty_n and_o service_n therefore_o shall_v we_o run_v further_o on_o to_o displease_v god_n more_o and_o more_o be_v it_o not_o enough_o to_o displease_v god_n by_o do_v thing_n irregular_o and_o unbelieve_o but_o shall_v we_o therefore_o run_v headlong_o upon_o wickedness_n and_o care_v not_o how_o much_o we_o displease_v god_n o_o therefore_o let_v we_o have_v a_o care_n of_o this_o temptation_n for_o it_o be_v very_o great_a and_o dangerous_a because_o we_o can_v please_v god_n by_o do_v what_o we_o can_v therefore_o we_o will_v run_v headlong_o on_o to_o displease_v he_o all_o that_o we_o can_v so_o now_o i_o have_v finish_v the_o explication_n of_o this_o truth_n that_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n i_o can_v now_o come_v to_o that_o application_n which_o i_o chief_o intend_v appli_v but_o in_o a_o word_n because_o i_o will_v not_o leave_v you_o whole_o without_o some_o word_n of_o application_n use_v here_o then_o let_v all_o those_o that_o be_v unbeliever_n understand_v and_o know_v this_o day_n from_o the_o lord_n what_o a_o dangerous_a state_n and_o condition_n they_o be_v in_o it_o be_v such_o a_o state_n and_o condition_n as_o be_v not_o to_o be_v rest_v quiet_o in_o because_o that_o they_o can_v possible_o please_v god_n by_o all_o that_o they_o can_v do_v i_o will_v not_o speak_v any_o thing_n to_o discourage_v and_o cast_v down_o any_o but_o to_o awaken_v poor_a soul_n understand_v and_o know_v this_o day_n from_o the_o lord_n that_o you_o never_o yet_o do_v please_v god_n by_o all_o that_o ever_o you_o have_v do_v you_o have_v make_v possible_o many_o hundred_o prayer_n and_o petition_n to_o god_n you_o have_v be_v exercise_v in_o holy_a duty_n and_o service_n all_o along_o from_o day_n to_o day_n yet_o you_o have_v not_o please_v god_n in_o any_o thing_n that_o you_o have_v do_v nay_o without_o faith_n you_o can_v please_v god_n in_o whatever_o you_o shall_v do_v it_o be_v impossible_a what_o shall_v i_o say_v more_o read_v but_o the_o text_n say_v the_o apostle_n without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n the_o apostle_n do_v not_o only_o speak_v of_o such_o as_o live_v in_o open_a know_v sin_n of_o uncleanness_n and_o drunkeness_n and_o swear_v and_o lie_v that_o they_o do_v not_o please_v god_n that_o be_v plain_a enough_o every_o one_o will_v say_v that_o these_o man_n do_v not_o please_v god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v impossible_a they_o shall_v please_v god_n and_o those_o that_o live_v in_o secret_a sin_n in_o secret_a covetousness_n of_o heart_n in_o secret_a oppression_n secret_a omision_n and_o neglect_n of_o duty_n family_n or_o closet-prayer_n do_v these_o thing_n please_v god_n think_v you_o not_o that_o i_o speak_v to_o such_o as_o these_o be_v but_o to_o those_o that_o be_v professor_n and_o that_o be_v careful_a to_o walk_v strict_o and_o conscientious_o in_o their_o place_n as_o far_o as_o ever_o they_o have_v light_n and_o understanding_n you_o be_v careful_a possible_o to_o deal_v righteous_o in_o your_o calling_n and_o trade_n you_o desire_v to_o make_v conscience_n of_o your_o way_n in_o buy_v and_o sell_v and_o trade_v and_o converse_v with_o the_o world_n to_o walk_v upright_o towards_o all_o man_n and_o what_o do_v not_o this_o please_v god_n you_o will_v say_v do_v not_o i_o please_v god_n in_o this_o i_o pray_v mark_n be_v this_o faith_n or_o no_o the_o apostle_n say_v here_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n suppose_v you_o perform_v duty_n wait_v upon_o god_n in_o his_o worship_n and_o ordinance_n be_v very_o diligent_a in_o attend_v upon_o the_o word_n preach_v and_o very_o diligent_a in_o read_v the_o scripture_n daily_o day_n by_o day_n and_o you_o be_v very_o diligent_a also_o in_o private_a duty_n such_o as_o i_o mention_v before_o do_v not_o this_o please_v god_n you_o will_v say_v why_o i_o pray_v still_o do_v but_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o apostle_n word_n without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n can_v you_o say_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v faith_n without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n but_o if_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v so_o charitable_a that_o they_o be_v ready_a upon_o all_o occasion_n to_o relieve_v the_o bowel_n of_o the_o saint_n do_v not_o this_o please_v god_n why_o say_v the_o apostle_n without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n do_v you_o believe_v that_o this_o be_v a_o truth_n that_o this_o text_n hold_v forth_o our_o charity_n
they_o a_o city_n and_o in_o enjoy_v god_n they_o enjoy_v all_o and_o then_o observe_z that_o the_o happiness_n of_o believer_n be_v for_o ever_o they_o be_v not_o free_v from_o all_o evil_n for_o a_o time_n only_o and_o enjoy_v all_o good_a for_o a_o time_n only_o but_o for_o ever_o and_o so_o they_o have_v everlasting_a life_n 2._o let_v we_o inquire_v what_o be_v this_o believe_v what_o this_o faith_n be_v upon_o which_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n come_v to_o have_v everlasting_a life_n i_o answer_v it_o be_v not_o a_o bare_a assent_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v not_o a_o mere_a historical_a faith_n yea_o though_o you_o shall_v be_v somewhat_o affect_v with_o it_o and_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n and_o do_v many_o thing_n as_o herod_n do_v but_o this_o believe_v be_v a_o receive_v of_o christ_n himself_o in_o some_o word_n of_o grace_n whereby_o the_o humble_a sinner_n do_v whole_o rely_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n for_o life_n and_o salvation_n although_o we_o be_v to_o believe_v all_o that_o be_v write_v in_o the_o law_n and_o the_o prophet_n and_o the_o whole_a word_n of_o god_n yet_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n and_o mediator_n be_v the_o object_n of_o justify_v faith_n gal._n 3.2_o receive_v you_o the_o spirit_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n or_o by_o the_o hear_n of_o faith_n faith_n be_v wrought_v in_o we_o by_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o mind_v these_o present_a thing_n too_o much_o and_o eternity_n very_o little_a but_o o_o that_o when_o we_o come_v to_o die_v to_o go_v into_o eternity_n that_o we_o may_v be_v in_o christ_n that_o so_o when_o the_o earthly_a house_n of_o this_o tabernacle_n shall_v be_v dissolve_v we_o may_v have_v a_o building_n of_o god_n a_o house_n not_o make_v with_o hand_n eternal_a in_o the_o heaven_n way_n of_o life_n preach_v and_o declare_v to_o you_o o_o that_o you_o may_v receive_v christ_n that_o you_o may_v believe_v on_o he_o that_o you_o may_v have_v everlasting_a life_n use_v 3_o here_o be_v matter_n of_o strong_a consolation_n to_o those_o that_o have_v believe_v on_o the_o son_n o_o let_v such_o rejoice_v in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n the_o lord_n have_v abound_v towards_o they_o in_o his_o kindness_n through_o christ_n jesus_n it_o be_v true_a you_o may_v meet_v with_o many_o sorrow_n here_o in_o this_o world_n but_o rejoice_v in_o this_o that_o there_o be_v no_o for_o most_o probable_o he_o be_v the_o penman_n of_o this_o epistle_n have_v in_o the_o former_a chapter_n exhort_v these_o jew_n or_o hebrew_n to_o who_o he_o write_v to_o persevere_v and_o to_o be_v constant_a in_o the_o faith_n take_v a_o argument_n from_o the_o danger_n of_o the_o contrary_a in_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o the_o chapter_n if_o any_o man_n draw_v back_o or_o do_v not_o persevere_v my_o soul_n shall_v have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o he_o now_o i_o say_v have_v exhort_v they_o to_o persevere_v in_o the_o faith_n both_o in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n and_o in_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n he_o come_v in_o this_o chapter_n to_o commend_v the_o grace_n of_o faith_n to_o they_o and_o that_o first_o by_o lay_v down_o a_o description_n of_o it_o for_o say_v he_o this_o grace_n of_o faith_n do_v make_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v absent_a whether_o past_a or_o future_a as_o if_o they_o be_v present_a if_o we_o look_v by_o faith_n back_o upon_o the_o creation_n of_o commend_v faith_n by_o the_o excellent_a effect_n of_o it_o that_o have_v be_v find_v in_o the_o faithful_a in_o all_o age_n from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n until_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n for_o if_o you_o observe_v it_o look_v upon_o the_o chapter_n and_o you_o will_v find_v that_o he_o give_v instance_n and_o example_n both_o of_o those_o faithful_a that_o be_v before_o the_o flood_n and_o also_o of_o such_o as_o be_v after_o the_o flood_n to_o the_o give_v of_o the_o law_n and_o then_o also_o of_o those_o faithful_a one_o that_o live_v after_o the_o law_n until_o the_o capivity_n and_o then_o of_o those_o that_o live_v after_o the_o captivity_n until_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n all_o these_o he_o instance_n in_o this_o chapter_n now_o first_o for_o these_o faithful_a one_o your_o faith_n to_o consider_v of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n the_o father_n and_o the_o love_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o god_n the_o father_n shall_v prepare_v jesus_n christ_n his_o own_o son_n for_o i_o set_v out_o by_o these_o element_n here_o be_v the_o infinite_a love_n of_o the_o father_n to_o i_o and_o here_o be_v the_o wonderful_a love_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n sight_n of_o god_n for_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o for_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o for_o everlasting_a life_n and_o salvation_n this_o be_v eat_v and_o drink_v by_o faith_n this_o be_v that_o which_o faith_n do_v now_o if_o you_o will_v partake_v of_o this_o ordinance_n in_o faith_n then_o brethren_n particular_o apply_v the_o object_n and_o action_n of_o this_o ordinance_n to_o your_o own_o soul_n and_o thus_o now_o i_o have_v give_v you_o some_o few_o direction_n about_o exercise_v of_o faith_n in_o this_o ordinance_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n without_o which_o not_o only_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n even_o in_o this_o ordinance_n i_o think_v to_o have_v spend_v some_o time_n in_o speak_v to_o another_o head_n namely_o how_o we_o shall_v exercise_v faith_n in_o our_o particular_a calling_n and_o occasion_n and_o matter_n that_o concern_v this_o life_n for_o we_o must_v act_v and_o exercise_v faith_n in_o all_o or_o else_o we_o do_v therefore_o i_o shall_v if_o you_o please_v to_o give_v i_o leave_v only_o give_v you_o four_o or_o five_o head_n of_o thing_n that_o may_v have_v be_v further_o enlarge_v upon_o by_o way_n of_o direction_n how_o to_o exercise_v faith_n in_o our_o particular_a calling_n and_o several_a condition_n that_o we_o may_v be_v in_o in_o this_o life_n i_o will_v but_o name_v they_o you_o may_v enlarge_v upon_o they_o in_o your_o own_o private_a meditation_n brief_o then_o one_a in_o the_o first_o place_n will_v we_o exercise_v faith_n in_o our_o particular_a calling_n and_o station_n and_o relation_n and_o condition_n that_o we_o be_v in_o then_o be_v careful_a to_o eye_n the_o hand_n of_o god_n lead_v and_o bring_v of_o you_o into_o this_o or_o that_o call_n condition_n and_o course_n of_o life_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o say_v as_o paul_n do_v 1_o cor._n 1.1_o paul_n call_v to_o be_v a_o apostle_n of_o jesus_n christ_n through_o the_o will_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o bring_v he_o into_o that_o state_n and_o course_n of_o life_n so_o must_v we_o be_v able_a to_o say_v or_o else_o we_o can_v act_v and_o exercise_v faith_n in_o our_o particular_a calling_n station_n and_o relation_n we_o must_v be_v able_a to_o say_v that_o god_n have_v lead_v i_o into_o this_o or_o that_o or_o the_o other_o course_n of_o life_n or_o into_o this_o and_o that_o change_n of_o condition_n faith_n do_v not_o lead_v a_o man_n to_o make_v haste_n to_o be_v over_o hasty_a for_o any_o thing_n i_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o such_o a_o thing_n i_o have_v a_o strong_a fancy_n to_o it_o and_z and_o therefore_o i_o must_v enter_v into_o such_o a_o call_v or_o enter_v into_o such_o a_o change_n of_o condition_n but_o faith_n do_v put_v a_o soul_n upon_o this_o namely_o to_o be_v solicitous_a to_o understand_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o observe_v it_o faith_n will_v put_v a_o soul_n upon_o earnestness_n and_o frequency_n in_o prayer_n abide_v on_o he_o as_o to_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n wherein_o he_o be_v some_o take_v these_o word_n to_o be_v intend_v of_o those_o only_o who_o never_o to_o the_o last_o believe_v in_o christ_n that_o such_o shall_v not_o see_v life_n but_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n abide_v on_o they_o this_o be_v true_a but_o because_o the_o apostle_n say_v even_o of_o the_o elect_n that_o they_o be_v by_o nature_n child_n of_o wrath_n even_o as_o other_o ephes_n 2.3_o we_o may_v take_v the_o word_n so_o that_o all_o whatsoever_o whilst_o unbeliever_n shall_v not_o see_v life_n but_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n abide_v on_o they_o the_o elect_n though_o they_o be_v give_v to_o christ_n from_o eternity_n yet_o they_o be_v neither_o justify_v nor_o sanctify_v till_o they_o do_v believe_v condemnation_n execute_v upon_o they_o but_o shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o go_v down_o to_o the_o pit_n because_o the_o lord_n have_v sound_v a_o ransom_n for_o they_o the_o decree_n of_o election_n shall_v be_v execute_v upon_o they_o and_o the_o redemption_n of_o christ_n shall_v be_v apply_v to_o they_o to_o prevent_v the_o fall_n and_o final_a execution_n of_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n in_o their_o eternal_a damnation_n but_o as_o for_o those_o who_o never_o believe_v one_o the_o son_n the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n come_v full_o and_o eternal_o upon_o they_o and_o so_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n abide_v on_o they_o for_o ever_o all_o have_v sin_v in_o adam_n and_o so_o be_v become_v guilty_a before_o god_n all_o have_v a_o inward_a rebellion_n and_o opposition_n in_o their_o nature_n against_o god_n all_o when_o they_o come_v to_o understanding_n be_v guilty_a of_o actual_a sin_n so_o that_o it_o can_v be_v that_o ever_o we_o shall_v see_v life_n but_o shall_v have_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n abide_v upon_o we_o except_o we_o be_v justify_v free_o by_o grace_n through_o the_o redemption_n which_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n and_o we_o receive_v this_o grace_n by_o believe_v on_o christ_n who_o god_n have_v set_v forth_o to_o be_v a_o propitiation_n for_o sin_n through_o faith_n in_o his_o blood_n rom._n 3.25_o it_o be_v by_o faith_n that_o we_o receive_v the_o atonement_n that_o christ_n have_v make_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o the_o everlasting_a righteousness_n that_o he_o have_v perform_v for_o we_o now_o concern_v the_o wrath_n of_o not_o believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n application_n use_v 1_o learn_v hence_o that_o it_o be_v not_o incongruous_a or_o disagree_v to_o the_o prach_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o hold_v forth_o threaten_n of_o wrath._n here_o john_n the_o baptist_n in_o thâ—s_n evangellical_a discourse_n of_o christ_n do_v hold_v forth_o most_o terrible_a threaten_n unto_o those_o that_o continue_v in_o the_o state_n of_o unbelief_n he_o say_v they_o shall_v not_o see_v life_n but_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n abide_v on_o they_o and_o so_o our_o saviour_n when_o he_o send_v out_o the_o apostle_n to_o preach_v unto_o the_o gentile_n say_v he_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v damn_v mark_n 16.16_o threaten_n be_v a_o mean_v appoint_v to_o awaken_v we_o to_o see_v our_o the_o great_a king_n of_o king_n i_o tell_v you_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n be_v as_o life_n to_o a_o man_n soul_n david_n can_v say_v it_o that_o know_v it_o by_o experience_n in_o psalm_n 30.5_o in_o thy_o favour_n be_v life_n nay_o he_o add_v a_o great_a word_n than_o that_o in_o psalm_n 63.3_o thy_o love_a kindness_n be_v better_a than_o life_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n to_o a_o man_n better_o than_o life_n but_o to_o know_v that_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v in_o favour_n with_o god_n he_o have_v that_o which_o be_v better_o than_o life_n brethren_n and_o friend_n there_o be_v but_o two_o great_a thing_n that_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n shall_v desire_v in_o this_o world_n which_o be_v the_o general_a and_o comprehensive_a of_o all_o thing_n to_o be_v desire_v one_o be_v to_o enjoy_v peace_n with_o god_n and_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n here_o and_o the_o other_o be_v to_o enjoy_v the_o favour_n and_o see_v the_o face_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n hereafter_o what_o can_v a_o man_n desire_v more_o than_o to_o be_v at_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o have_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n whilst_o he_o live_v and_o then_o to_o know_v that_o he_o shall_v see_v and_o enjoy_v the_o face_n and_o presence_n of_o god_n for_o ever_o in_o glory_n here_o be_v as_o much_o as_o can_v be_v desire_v and_o these_o two_o thing_n we_o shall_v look_v after_o now_o here_o be_v one_o of_o they_o to_o know_v that_o god_n be_v well_o please_v with_o a_o poor_a creature_n now_o such_o a_o person_n be_v a_o favourite_n of_o heaven_n and_o he_o may_v be_v sure_a of_o it_o if_o he_o be_v in_o favour_n with_o god_n here_o than_o he_o shall_v see_v the_o face_n of_o god_n and_o enjoy_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n hereafter_o that_o be_v the_o 5_o 6._o and_o last_o to_o add_v but_o that_o be_v it_o not_o a_o desirable_a thing_n for_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n to_o be_v able_a to_o look_v death_n in_o the_o face_n with_o comfort_n when_o death_n come_v to_o stare_v he_o in_o the_o face_n when_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o sentence_n of_o death_n pass_v upon_o he_o what_o will_v you_o then_o desire_v above_o all_o the_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n what_o not_o a_o great_a estate_n not_o this_o and_o that_o that_o you_o can_v think_v of_o in_o the_o world_n but_o oh_o that_o i_o may_v have_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o that_o i_o may_v know_v that_o god_n be_v well_o please_v with_o i_o etc._n etc._n then_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n may_v look_v death_n in_o the_o face_n and_o may_v draw_v near_o to_o god_n with_o a_o holy_a boldness_n as_o i_o remember_v hezekiah_n when_o he_o have_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n upon_o he_o in_o isa_n 38.3_o lord_n say_v he_o remember_v how_o i_o have_v walk_v before_o thou_o in_o truth_n and_o with_o a_o perfect_a heart_n he_o can_v appeal_v to_o god_n that_o his_o way_n be_v please_v to_o he_o and_o now_o he_o can_v resign_v up_o his_o soul_n to_o he_o though_o he_o be_v trouble_v that_o he_o have_v not_o
