melancholy_n the_o imagination_n be_v disturb_v &_o not_o the_o conscience_n second_o the_o conscience_n afflict_v have_v a_o true_a and_o certain_a cause_n whereby_o it_o be_v trouble_v namely_o the_o sight_n of_o sin_n but_o in_o melancholy_n the_o imagination_n conceive_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v so_o which_o be_v not_o so_o for_o it_o make_v a_o man_n to_o fear_n and_o despair_n upon_o suppose_a and_o feign_a cause_n three_o the_o man_n afflict_v in_o conscience_n have_v courage_n in_o many_o thing_n but_o the_o melancholic_a man_n fear_v every_o man_n every_o creature_n yea_o himself_o and_o have_v no_o courage_n when_o there_o be_v no_o cause_n of_o fear_n he_o fear_v four_o imagination_n in_o the_o brain_n cause_v by_o melancholy_n may_v be_v cure_v take_v away_o and_o cut_v off_o by_o mean_n of_o physic_n but_o the_o distress_n of_o conscience_n can_v be_v cure_v by_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n but_o one_o and_o that_o be_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o assurance_n of_o god_n favour_n four_o the_o way_n to_o cure_v melancholy_a be_v this_o first_o the_o person_n trouble_v must_v be_v bring_v to_o this_o that_o he_o will_v content_v himself_o to_o be_v advertise_v and_o rule_v not_o by_o his_o own_o but_o by_o the_o judgement_n of_o other_o touch_v his_o own_o estate_n and_o by_o this_o shall_v be_v reap_v much_o quiet_a and_o contentation_n second_o search_n &_o trial_n must_v be_v make_v whether_o he_o have_v in_o he_o any_o beginning_n of_o faith_n and_o repentance_n or_o no._n if_o he_o want_v knowledge_n of_o his_o estate_n than_o mean_n must_v be_v use_v to_o bring_v he_o to_o some_o sight_n and_o sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n that_o his_o melancholy_a sorrow_n may_v be_v turn_v into_o a_o godly_a sorrow_n if_o he_o want_v faith_n and_o true_a repentance_n some_o good_a beginning_n thereof_o must_v be_v wrought_v in_o his_o heart_n three_o when_o he_o be_v bring_v to_o faith_n in_o god_n mercy_n and_o a_o honest_a purpose_n not_o to_o sin_v any_o more_o then_o certain_a merciful_a promise_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v lay_v before_o his_o eye_n and_o he_o must_v be_v exhorr●d_v to_o rest_v upon_o these_o melancholy_a the_o second_o mean_n whereby_o the_o body_n annoy_n the_o mind_n be_v when_o it_o occasion_n trouble_v to_o the_o mind_n by_o strange_a alteration_n incident_a to_o the_o body_n when_o a_o man_n begin_v to_o enter_v into_o a_o frenzy_n if_o the_o brain_n admit_v never_o so_o little_a alteration_n present_o the_o mind_n be_v trouble_v thus_o by_o the_o tremble_a of_o the_o heart_n many_o fearful_a imagination_n be_v cause_v when_o a_o man_n know_v not_o the_o cause_n the_o same_o be_v procure_v by_o the_o swell_a of_o the_o spleen_n by_o the_o rise_n of_o the_o entrails_n by_o strange_a convulsion_n and_o such_o like_a the_o remedy_n hereof_o be_v this_o first_o it_o be_v still_o to_o be_v consider_v whether_o the_o party_n thus_o trouble_v have_v true_a faith_n and_o repentance_n or_o no._n if_o he_o have_v it_o be_v so_o much_o the_o better_o if_o he_o have_v not_o the_o first_o duty_n be_v to_o use_v all_o mean_n to_o stir_v up_o in_o he_o some_o godly_a sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n second_o this_o be_v do_v mean_n must_v be_v use_v to_o take_v away_o the_o opinion_n conceive_v and_o to_o give_v information_n of_o the_o alteration_n of_o the_o body_n
