practise_v in_o the_o land_n i_o be_o persuade_v it_o be_v their_o weakness_n and_o i_o hope_v they_o will_v never_o attempt_v to_o do_v the_o like_a but_o i_o be_o still_o persuade_v they_o do_v it_o upon_o the_o same_o ground_n that_o have_v knowledge_n in_o themselves_o that_o their_o former_a oath_n may_v be_v a_o snare_n unto_o they_o if_o they_o do_v not_o hold_v still_o some_o correspondency_n with_o the_o practice_n of_o england_n even_o till_o god_n shall_v open_v a_o way_n or_o mean_n for_o they_o to_o seek_v free_a liberty_n for_o all_o by_o the_o approbation_n of_o authority_n the_o next_o thing_n you_o mind_n against_o they_o be_v that_o they_o will_v not_o admit_v liberty_n to_o some_o of_o their_o brethren_n which_o be_v godly_a minister_n though_o they_o do_v approve_v of_o they_o as_o be_v against_o ceremony_n to_o this_o 1._o i_o answer_v that_o it_o be_v strange_a that_o any_o man_n shall_v send_v to_o ask_v their_o liberty_n 2._o it_o be_v much_o will_v not_o admit_v into_o fellowship_n those_o that_o will_v not_o enter_v into_o their_o covenant_n and_o profess_v faith_n and_o submit_v to_o their_o church_n order_n though_o they_o will_v be_v of_o their_o church_n i_o think_v you_o have_v strange_a evasion_n but_o i_o pray_v you_o answer_v i_o to_o these_o two_o question_n the_o first_o be_v how_o man_n of_o year_n of_o discretion_n may_v by_o the_o rule_n of_o god_n word_n be_v admit_v into_o fellowship_n and_o not_o profess_v their_o faith_n second_o how_o man_n may_v be_v account_v to_o be_v of_o the_o church_n and_o not_o submit_v unto_o the_o order_n of_o the_o church_n see_v that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n have_v these_o two_o thing_n to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o behold_n of_o the_o saint_n steadfast_a faith_n and_o comely_a order_n in_o the_o church_n but_o you_o say_v that_o these_o man_n who_o will_v fain_o have_v a_o toleration_n in_o this_o great_a kingdom_n will_v not_o allow_v any_o in_o their_o small_a particular_a congregation_n true_o mr._n edwards_n it_o be_v good_a for_o you_o to_o labour_v to_o understand_v the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o god_n for_o yourself_o and_o have_v charity_n towards_o your_o brethren_n and_o hope_v well_o that_o they_o have_v so_o much_o knowledge_n of_o the_o lord_n will_v that_o they_o will_v not_o plead_v for_o such_o a_o absurdity_n as_o to_o set_v up_o one_o church_n within_o another_o and_o so_o make_v a_o schism_n but_o the_o toleration_n they_o plead_v for_o be_v that_o god_n true_a worship_n may_v be_v set_v up_o in_o the_o kingdom_n by_o those_o that_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v and_o that_o by_o the_o sufferance_n of_o the_o governor_n and_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v settle_v in_o a_o peaceable_a way_n which_o will_v be_v far_o from_o disturb_v the_o peace_n of_o three_o kingdom_n as_o you_o invectively_o speak_v but_o to_o set_v up_o a_o congregation_n in_o a_o congregation_n will_v be_v confusion_n even_o as_o to_o set_v up_o one_o kingdom_n within_o another_o the_o next_o thing_n you_o charge_v they_o with_o be_v that_o they_o be_v partial_a by_o a_o supposition_n of_o your_o own_o for_o you_o say_v it_o be_v ordinary_a for_o man_n when_o they_o be_v not_o in_o place_n nor_o have_v no_o power_n in_o church_n or_o commonwealth_n and_o hold_v also_o doâ—rines_n and_o principle_n contrary_a to_o what_o be_v hold_v and_o establish_v to_o plead_v for_o toleration_n but_o when_o the_o same_o man_n come_v to_o have_v place_n and_o power_n say_v you_o they_o will_v not_o tolerate_v other_o and_o you_o say_v that_o you_o do_v believe_v that_o these_o be_v the_o man_n which_o now_o endeavour_n a_o toleration_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v you_o may_v do_v well_o to_o let_v this_o belief_n of_o you_o be_v no_o article_n of_o your_o faith_n because_o it_o stand_v upon_o no_o ground_n for_o though_o a_o man_n may_v hope_v the_o best_a and_o fear_v the_o worst_a yet_o he_o may_v believe_v nothing_o but_o what_o he_o up_o in_o the_o land_n to_o bring_v man_n out_o of_o darkness_n to_o light_n but_o leave_v that_o to_o the_o judgement_n of_o they_o which_o have_v the_o power_n even_o the_o king_n and_o parliament_n thus_o much_o for_o your_o eight_o reason_n in_o your_o nine_o reason_n you_o affirm_v that_o toleration_n may_v he_o demand_v upon_o the_o same_o ground_n for_o brownist_n anabaptist_n and_o familist_n and_o other_o who_o profess_v it_o be_v their_o conscience_n to_o which_o i_o answer_v that_o see_v you_o plead_v for_o they_o i_o may_v well_o hold_v my_o peace_n but_o i_o think_v the_o the_o church_n from_o which_o they_o separate_a but_o you_o here_o demand_v whether_o papist_n may_v not_o petition_v and_o have_v hope_n for_o toleration_n see_v it_o be_v their_o conscience_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v i_o know_v no_o reason_n why_o they_o may_v not_o petition_v and_o hope_v to_o speed_v also_o see_v they_o have_v many_o friend_n in_o the_o kingdom_n further_o you_o add_v that_o
