learned_a man_n some_o definition_n of_o the_o church_n and_o some_o matter_n of_o tradition_n and_o the_o like_a i_o believe_v of_o former_a age_n christian_a doctrine_n descend_v unto_o we_o in_o a_o heap_n or_o confusion_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v hard_a to_o distinguish_v what_o be_v of_o tradition_n what_o the_o general_a consent_n of_o the_o church_n and_o what_o only_o learn_v man_n opinion_n why_o then_o may_v not_o some_o position_n of_o this_o last_o rank_n pass_v for_o a_o tradition_n by_o the_o adoption_n of_o some_o age_n in_o which_o it_o will_v be_v forget_v that_o ever_o it_o have_v its_o beginning_n from_o the_o wit_n and_o industry_n of_o private_a man_n and_o to_o satisfy_v i_o in_o this_o point_n you_o must_v let_v i_o see_v how_o that_o the_o teach_n of_o christian_a doctrine_n without_o determine_v what_o be_v of_o necessity_n to_o be_v believe_v what_o not_o hurte'_v not_o the_o progress_n of_o tradition_n uncle_n if_o i_o shall_v answer_v you_o that_o former_a age_n have_v be_v more_o exact_a in_o distinguish_a thing_n certain_a from_o uncertain_a it_o will_v not_o be_v without_o ground_n as_o you_o may_v see_v by_o the_o frame_n of_o ancient_a creed_n and_o other_o profession_n of_o faith_n as_o occasion_n require_v but_o this_o be_v to_o send_v you_o to_o antiquity_n whereas_o in_o this_o discourse_n you_o know_v we_o both_o desire_v that_o common_a sense_n and_o reason_n without_o far_a enquiry_n shall_v be_v our_o judge_n wherefore_o the_o point_n you_o speak_v of_o which_o you_o fear_v may_v deceive_v we_o by_o the_o likeness_n of_o tradition_n be_v either_o true_a or_o false_a if_o true_a than_o i_o pray_v what_o inconvenience_n be_v there_o if_o it_o surprise_v we_o in_o the_o quality_n of_o its_o certainty_n according_a to_o your_o discourse_n for_o if_o once_o truth_n not_o deliver_v by_o tradition_n may_v pass_v for_o so_o deliver_v what_o security_n can_v we_o have_v that_o a_o falsity_n may_v not_o likewise_o pass_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n and_o so_o bring_v a_o error_n among_o we_o vncle._n i_o put_v you_o only_o that_o part_n of_o the_o question_n if_o the_o point_n be_v true_a which_o you_o draw_v into_o the_o contrary_a if_o it_o be_v false_a wherefore_o if_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o a_o untruth_n can_v deceive_v we_o in_o that_o kind_n then_o there_o be_v no_o inconvenience_n in_o the_o consequence_n of_o the_o former_a part_n to_o wit_n that_o truth_n may_v be_v take_v as_o deliver_v by_o tradition_n which_o true_o be_v not_o so_o deliver_v and_o the_o reason_n be_v clear_a for_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o religion_n be_v know_v for_o the_o frame_n of_o our_o life_n conformable_o unto_o they_o it_o importe'_v little_a in_o respect_n of_o virtue_n upon_o what_o ground_n they_o be_v hold_v in_o particular_a so_o they_o be_v universal_o and_o constant_o hold_v for_o a_o action_n do_v in_o consequence_n of_o such_o believe_v truth_n be_v never_o the_o worse_o for_o the_o quality_n of_o the_o certainty_n of_o its_o object_n yet_o for_o your_o far_a satisfaction_n this_o i_o will_v add_v
