observe_v in_o any_o church_n invite_v its_o enemy_n to_o attempt_n its_o utter_a ruin_n and_o destruction_n they_o open_v a_o breach_n for_o they_o to_o enter_v they_o give_v free_a and_o a_o easy_a entrance_n to_o swarm_n or_o seducer_n to_o invade_v it_o they_o give_v a_o plausible_a and_o fair_a pretence_n for_o a_o very_a plausible_a and_o specious_a objection_n you_o have_v no_o union_n among_o yourselves_o from_o whence_o it_o appear_v you_o have_v not_o the_o truth_n truth_n be_v one_o and_o so_o be_v the_o faith_n that_o be_v build_v upon_o it_o you_o be_v not_o one_o among_o yourselves_o and_o therefore_o you_o have_v not_o the_o true_a faith_n now_o therefore_o leave_v and_o quit_v that_o church_n which_o have_v no_o unity_n in_o its_o member_n and_o come_v to_o that_o age_n these_o be_v know_v and_o evident_a thing_n but_o that_o which_o be_v here_o to_o be_v consider_v be_v that_o the_o zeal_n that_o many_o man_n have_v in_o these_o dispute_v be_v rather_o to_o destroy_v the_o religion_n that_o be_v profess_v by_o other_o person_n than_o set_v up_o another_o instead_o thereof_o it_o be_v to_o subvert_v and_o not_o to_o reform_v it_o be_v to_o overthrow_v and_o not_o amend_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n be_v it_o be_v concern_v about_o religion_n and_o be_v it_o have_v a_o mighty_a passion_n in_o this_o concern_n it_o pass_v for_o religion_n itself_o so_o apt_a be_v man_n to_o mistake_v they_o to_o embrace_v a_o shadow_n instead_o of_o truth_n and_o to_o judge_v themselves_o to_o be_v religious_a for_o a_o negative_a not_o a_o positive_a thing_n for_o be_v against_o the_o religion_n of_o other_o rather_o than_o for_o any_o of_o their_o own_o wherein_o they_o gratify_v their_o own_o passion_n please_v their_o own_o corrupt_a affection_n and_o so_o easy_o suffer_v themselves_o to_o be_v deceive_v and_o impose_v upon_o 3._o but_o than_o three_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o as_o hypocrisy_n be_v not_o only_o a_o easy_a religion_n but_o also_o pleasant_a to_o flesh_n and_o blood_n in_o many_o instance_n and_o effect_n so_o that_o it_o also_o powerful_o tend_v to_o serve_v those_o end_n which_o man_n be_v apt_a to_o propound_v and_o follow_v that_o be_v to_o say_v 1._o the_o reputation_n of_o be_v judge_v to_o be_v true_o pious_a 2._o and_o the_o obtain_n of_o wealth_n and_o power_n and_o all_o the_o advantage_n of_o this_o world_n 1._o draw_v man_n to_o that_o sin_n so_o shall_v it_o move_v to_o the_o great_a watchfulness_n the_o great_a diligence_n to_o avoid_v it_o 2._o but_o than_o second_o as_o hypocrisy_n often_o gain_v the_o priest_n give_v so_o much_o alm_n say_v so_o many_o prayer_n pass_v through_o a_o course_n of_o so_o many_o fast_n and_o when_o they_o have_v find_v out_o these_o shift_n then_o will_v they_o believe_v their_o sin_n forgive_v although_o they_o wilful_o still_o retain_v they_o they_o will_v believe_v that_o this_o be_v so_o in_o spite_n of_o common_a sense_n and_o reason_n in_o spite_n of_o the_o very_a light_n of_o nature_n in_o spite_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n itself_o and_o the_o plain_a design_n of_o christianity_n they_o will_v have_v a_o creed_n which_o shall_v allow_v they_o in_o their_o lust_n though_o clear_o contrary_a to_o that_o gospel_n which_o our_o lord_n himself_o have_v reveal_v to_o we_o from_o whence_o observe_v that_o no_o man_n can_v be_v secure_a of_o that_o the_o only_a safe_a and_o certain_a way_n to_o know_v the_o will_n of_o god_n aright_o to_o know_v what_o true_a religion_n be_v and_o what_o be_v the_o way_n to_o life_n eternal_a be_v such_o passage_n in_o the_o gospel_n so_o to_o the_o whole_a by_o evident_a consequence_n to_o its_o command_n and_o exhortation_n to_o all_o the_o promise_n and_o threaten_n of_o it_o and_o what_o be_v moment_n than_o that_o of_o eternal_a life_n and_o happiness_n add_v hereunto_o that_o this_o be_v a_o error_n which_o make_v man_n stupid_a and_o secure_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o very_o great_a lust_n they_o enjoy_v themselves_o they_o enjoy_v their_o sin_n without_o any_o fear_n of_o danger_n from_o they_o for_o such_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o this_o error_n that_o it_o infatuate_v the_o mind_n itself_o remove_v the_o force_n and_o power_n of_o conscience_n let_v we_o the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n loose_a leave_v no_o restraint_n leave_v no_o check_n at_o all_o upon_o they_o and_o so_o expose_v they_o to_o destruction_n till_o it_o be_v discover_v and_o remove_v 3._o i_o have_v say_v enough_o of_o the_o proposition_n which_o be_v employ_v in_o the_o word_n before_o we_o namely_o 1._o that_o man_n may_v presume_v of_o god_n favour_n while_o they_o continue_v in_o their_o sin_n 2_o that_o this_o presumption_n of_o they_o be_v a_o very_a great_a and_o dangerous_a the_o sharp_a resistance_n and_o opposition_n will_v scarce_o discourage_v resolution_n nor_o hinder_v endeavour_n to_o obtain_v it_o if_o it_o be_v difficult_a for_o mankind_n to_o reduce_v their_o natural_a inclination_n to_o a_o compliance_n with_o christ_n precept_n to_o deny_v inordinate_a sensuality_n to_o sensual_a appetite_n and_o desire_n to_o deny_v unlawful_a gain_n and_o interest_n to_o the_o desire_n of_o wealth_n and_o riches_n to_o mortify_v pride_n to_o subdue_v ambition_n and_o all_o the_o spawn_n of_o these_o vice_n envy_n malice_n and_o animosity_n to_o retain_v piety_n have_v firm_o fix_v these_o principle_n in_o his_o mind_n that_o this_o be_v the_o only_a way_n to_o heaven_n and_o heaven_n alone_o the_o place_n of_o happiness_n will_v attempt_v to_o make_v his_o way_n thither_o through_o these_o or_o any_o other_o difficulty_n in_o the_o view_n of_o the_o glory_n set_v before_o he_o i_o dare_v not_o attempt_v to_o describe_v the_o reproach_n and_o here_o of_o thing_n most_o grievous_a to_o flesh_n and_o blood_n heap_n upon_o heap_n of_o all_o the_o several_a trouble_n and_o danger_n which_o the_o life_n of_o man_n be_v expose_v unto_o in_o the_o present_a world_n but_o what_o impression_n do_v these_o calamity_n make_v on_o he_o who_o have_v design_v eternal_a happiness_n do_v he_o leave_v the_o way_n that_o lead_v unto_o it_o in_o by_o the_o ease_n they_o find_v or_o fancy_n in_o the_o delight_n of_o the_o present_a world_n and_o so_o they_o mistake_v a_o mere_a appearance_n a_o show_n a_o shadow_n of_o felicity_n instead_o of_o the_o very_a thing_n itself_o it_o be_v a_o vanity_n which_o they_o follow_v but_o a_o vanity_n under_o a_o show_n of_o happiness_n what_o so_o vain_a as_o popular_a fame_n the_o breath_n of_o rude_a and_o ignorant_a people_n yet_o fame_n be_v happiness_n such_o as_o it_o be_v unto_o the_o proud_a and_o sensual_a pleasure_n unto_o the_o sensual_a and_o wealth_n and_o riches_n unto_o the_o
