own_o very_a sure_a then_o when_o he_o preach_v damnation_n unto_o the_o obstinate_a and_o such_o as_o remain_v in_o their_o etc._n sin_n thunder_v out_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n against_o they_o because_o they_o will_v not_o repent_v by_o that_o mean_n to_o beat_v they_o down_o and_o bring_v they_o to_o a_o sight_n of_o their_o misery_n he_o must_v be_v assure_v that_o the_o same_o belong_v not_o to_o himself_o again_o when_o he_o preach_v of_o election_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n by_o the_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n he_o must_v have_v a_o assure_a and_o unfallible_a testimony_n to_o his_o own_o conscience_n that_o he_o be_v a_o elect_a vessel_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o he_o be_v redeem_v by_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v enjoy_v all_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o all_o other_o child_n of_o god_n if_o he_o be_v not_o assure_v hereof_o his_o case_n be_v worse_a than_o all_o other_o man_n for_o in_o preach_v condemnation_n to_o other_o he_o condemn_v himself_o and_o in_o offer_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n to_o other_o he_o quite_o exclude_v himself_o so_o that_o he_o which_o help_v other_o out_o of_o a_o hole_n fall_v himself_o so_o deep_o into_o the_o same_o that_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o any_o man_n to_o help_v he_o out_o last_o of_o all_o the_o minister_n must_v not_o only_o read_v and_o study_v the_o word_n of_o god_n preach_v the_o 4_o same_o pure_o by_o exhort_v and_o all_o other_o mean_n that_o may_v be_v profitable_a use_v they_o both_o public_o open_o and_o private_o continual_o in_o season_n and_o out_o of_o season_n pray_v also_o for_o his_o flock_n that_o his_o ministry_n may_v be_v profitable_a unto_o they_o and_o set_v himself_o a_o ensample_n of_o all_o godliness_n unto_o they_o careful_o watch_v over_o their_o soul_n but_o he_o must_v also_o love_v they_o so_o dear_o that_o his_o own_o life_n must_v not_o be_v dear_a unto_o he_o for_o their_o sake_n which_o tender_a and_o love_a affection_n be_v in_o that_o good_a child_n of_o god_n saint_n paul_n as_o it_o be_v manifest_a in_o his_o epistle_n to_o the_o thessalonian_n where_o he_o write_v in_o this_o sort_n neither_o seek_v we_o praise_v of_o meâ—_n neither_o of_o you_o nor_o of_o other_o when_o we_o may_v have_v be_v chargeable_a as_o the_o apostle_n of_o christ_n but_o we_o be_v 8._o gentle_a among_o take_v upon_o they_o the_o profession_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o truth_n with_o a_o good_a conscience_n be_v straightway_o resist_v with_o great_a combat_n of_o affliction_n which_o be_v able_a to_o make_v they_o forsake_v the_o faith_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n if_o the_o lord_n shall_v not_o hold_v they_o upright_o in_o this_o distress_n the_o apostle_n he_o of_o a_o prophet_n call_v agabus_n that_o he_o shall_v be_v bind_v at_o jerusalem_n and_o deliver_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o gentile_n he_o be_v entreat_v of_o the_o brethren_n that_o he_o will_v time_n of_o danger_n they_o will_v forsake_v they_o howsoever_o before_o they_o have_v feed_v their_o flock_n but_o the_o true_a minister_n must_v not_o be_v such_o they_o must_v not_o measure_v their_o duty_n and_o affection_n towards_o their_o flock_n according_a to_o their_o profit_n but_o he_o must_v know_v that_o he_o be_v place_v over_o they_o to_o watch_v over_o their_o soul_n to_o
look_v unto_o god_n child_n in_o former_a age_n paul_n be_v sore_o afflict_v much_o trouble_v and_o often_o imprison_v yet_o all_o this_o do_v nothing_o grieve_v he_o so_o long_o as_o the_o gospel_n have_v good_a success_n and_o the_o church_n flourish_v therefore_o in_o his_o epistle_n he_o say_v often_o i_o be_v comfort_v when_o i_o hear_v of_o your_o faith_n i_o live_v if_o you_o stand_v and_o his_o soul_n do_v melt_v for_o grief_n yea_o though_o he_o have_v liberty_n to_o worship_n god_n though_o he_o be_v free_a from_o all_o oppression_n yet_o do_v he_o humble_a his_o soul_n with_o fast_v and_o be_v in_o heaviness_n three_o week_n of_o day_n because_o god_n church_n be_v not_o far_o enlarge_v because_o the_o temple_n lie_v unbuild_v and_o because_o his_o brethren_n the_o jew_n have_v no_o opportunity_n to_o cleave_v unto_o god_n worship_n this_o be_v the_o practice_n of_o godly_a man_n in_o ancient_a time_n this_o also_o must_v be_v our_o practice_n if_o our_o heart_n be_v pure_a thus_o far_o for_o the_o trial_n of_o our_o heart_n by_o fear_n joy_n hope_v and_o grief_n in_o all_o thing_n which_o we_o take_v in_o hand_n now_o follow_v the_o second_o part_n of_o this_o trial_n by_o apply_v it_o unto_o time_n as_o unto_o prosperity_n and_o adversity_n if_o we_o look_v not_o wary_o unto_o that_o time_n wherein_o we_o live_v we_o through_o the_o great_a corruption_n of_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v dangerous_o deceive_v for_o prosperity_n will_v move_v we_o to_o praise_n god_n and_o trouble_n will_v make_v we_o tremble_v at_o the_o think_n of_o he_o and_o none_o almost_o be_v so_o desperate_a and_o void_a of_o all_o knowledge_n which_o will_v not_o do_v so_o the_o wife_n of_o job_n will_v praise_v and_o bless_v god_n in_o abundance_n and_o prosperity_n and_o she_o no_o doubt_n have_v many_o companion_n pharaoh_n will_v be_v humble_v when_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n be_v upon_o he_o saul_n will_v be_v godly_a when_o god_n do_v afflict_v he_o and_o will_v not_o many_o do_v as_o saul_n do_v be_v not_o many_o like_a unto_o pharaoh_n therefore_o if_o thou_o will_v have_v thy_o heart_n pure_a prosperity_n look_v unto_o thy_o profession_n in_o prosperity_n and_o diligent_o try_v thy_o heart_n when_o thou_o be_v in_o trouble_n for_o thou_o may_v seem_v to_o fear_n god_n when_o his_o hand_n be_v upon_o thou_o thou_o may_v seem_v to_o love_n god_n when_o even_o in_o great_a and_o most_o weighty_a cause_n this_o agree_v with_o the_o say_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n luke_n 16._o 10._o he_o that_o be_v faithful_a in_o the_o least_o he_o be_v faithful_a also_o in_o much_o which_o may_v be_v thus_o particular_o apply_v he_o that_o for_o conscience_n sake_n do_v speak_v the_o truth_n in_o common_a and_o small_a matter_n he_o will_v also_o speak_v the_o truth_n in_o matter_n of_o great_a importance_n and_o he_o that_o be_v not_o ashamed_a of_o a_o lie_n in_o his_o private_a deal_n he_o will_v also_o without_o shame_n bear_v false_a witness_n before_o the_o judge_n here_o than_o we_o be_v teach_v in_o the_o least_o thing_n to_o inure_v our_o tongue_n to_o speak_v the_o truth_n so_o shall_v we_o be_v better_o preserve_v from_o false_a witness_n bear_v for_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o have_v we_o to_o dally_v with_o sin_n therefore_o in_o his_o righteous_a judgement_n he_o do_v leave_v man_n that_o make_v no_o conscience_n of_o a_o lie_n and_o suffer_v they_o to_o fall_v and_o to_o offend_v in_o some_o open_a and_o know_v truth_n again_o whereas_o man_n take_v great_a liberty_n in_o lie_v if_o the_o matter_n be_v secret_a and_o unknown_a lie_v the_o lord_n do_v hate_v this_o hollowness_n and_o hypocrisy_n of_o man_n and_o do_v often_o bring_v it_o to_o light_n that_o by_o the_o sorrow_n for_o and_o shame_n of_o that_o sin_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o may_v be_v cause_v to_o make_v great_a conscience_n of_o a_o lie_n for_o ever_o after_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v not_o have_v the_o lord_n to_o punish_v our_o lesser_a frailty_n with_o great_a sin_n if_o we_o will_v not_o have_v he_o to_o punish_v our_o secret_a sin_n and_o fault_n with_o open_a and_o notorious_a offence_n then_o
sin_n this_o god_n be_v a_o tempt_a of_o god_n and_o this_o shall_v be_v lay_v to_o our_o charge_n as_o we_o see_v that_o the_o lord_n say_v to_o david_n that_o he_o be_v in_o all_o thing_n upright_o before_o he_o but_o in_o the_o case_n of_o vriah_n because_o his_o other_o sin_n which_o he_o commit_v both_o often_o and_o grievous_o be_v but_o of_o humane_a infirmity_n and_o this_o be_v contrary_a apostle_n and_o that_o he_o be_v a_o tentmaker_n exhort_v also_o in_o some_o of_o his_o epistle_n man_n to_o get_v their_o live_n with_o some_o honest_a trade_n but_o his_o meaning_n be_v that_o he_o think_v nothing_o worthy_a to_o be_v know_v or_o covet_v no_o knowledge_n as_o excellent_a in_o respect_n and_o in_o comparison_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o he_o crucify_v and_o therefore_o whereas_o there_o be_v some_o among_o the_o corinthian_n a_o people_n very_o famous_a for_o their_o learning_n and_o knowledge_n who_o please_v themselves_o in_o a_o conceit_n of_o their_o great_a gift_n and_o science_n the_o apostle_n not_o want_v these_o thing_n protest_v unto_o they_o that_o he_o never_o make_v this_o humane_a knowledge_n the_o full_a scope_n drift_n and_o foundation_n of_o his_o labour_n and_o that_o he_o never_o use_v they_o as_o the_o treasure_n of_o his_o heart_n although_o he_o can_v tell_v how_o far_o to_o give_v they_o their_o reverence_n their_o due_a time_n and_o place_n in_o other_o but_o that_o he_o esteem_v they_o in_o that_o measure_n as_o they_o stand_v he_o in_o stead_n the_o better_a to_o offer_v his_o service_n to_o jesus_n christ._n again_o we_o must_v not_o here_o think_v that_o the_o apostle_n know_v not_o parent_n magistrate_n and_o governor_n the_o gift_n of_o man_n and_o the_o duty_n to_o be_v give_v to_o every_o one_o of_o these_o but_o if_o he_o see_v that_o man_n do_v glory_n in_o themselves_o in_o their_o title_n &_o in_o their_o dignity_n than_o he_o know_v they_o not_o in_o the_o flesh_n that_o be_v he_o do_v not_o man_n be_v not_o so_o much_o overwise_a and_o benumb_a in_o judgement_n in_o this_o behalf_n but_o most_o man_n on_o the_o contrary_a rejoice_n either_o as_o much_o or_o more_o in_o these_o thing_n than_o in_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v the_o evil_a wherewith_o most_o man_n have_v surfeit_v this_o be_v the_o evil_a whereat_o the_o apostle_n strike_v for_o though_o man_n will_v wicked_a as_o to_o the_o godly_a be_v they_o not_o so_o transitory_a and_o insufficient_a that_o the_o more_o a_o man_n have_v of_o they_o the_o more_o he_o may_v have_v do_v they_o make_v the_o suffer_v for_o the_o profession_n of_o christ_n because_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o another_o place_n how_o he_o do_v bear_v about_o with_o he_o the_o mark_n of_o his_o suffering_n in_o his_o body_n but_o this_o sense_n be_v too_o hard_o to_o be_v brook_v that_o we_o shall_v rejoice_v in_o nothing_o but_o in_o affliction_n albeit_o this_o be_v a_o truth_n that_o we_o may_v rejoice_v in_o those_o
