wicked_a or_o godly_a further_o than_o they_o may_v have_v a_o particular_a promise_n for_o it_o as_o baruch_n and_o ebedmelech_n have_v nor_o be_v it_o strict_o to_o be_v apply_v by_o every_o particular_a visible_a church_n as_o if_o it_o may_v not_o be_v destroy_v by_o judgement_n for_o however_o the_o lord_n may_v bring_v many_o judgement_n on_o a_o church_n before_o he_o give_v she_o a_o bill_n of_o divorce_n and_o cause_v she_o to_o ceaâ—e_v to_o be_v a_o church_n yet_o the_o sad_a experience_n of_o the_o church_n in_o asia_n and_o many_o other_o do_v refute_v that_o but_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v resolve_v to_o keep_v a_o church_n continual_o in_o the_o world_n and_o there_o be_v a_o particular_a promise_n of_o the_o church_n of_o the_o jew_n their_o enjoy_v that_o privilege_n to_o be_v the_o only_a people_n of_o god_n till_o the_o messiah_n shall_v come_v of_o they_o the_o prophet_n upon_o that_o general_a ground_n and_o particular_a promise_n gather_v that_o the_o church_n of_o the_o jew_n shall_v not_o be_v total_o extinguish_v or_o cut_v off_o by_o her_o captivity_n in_o babylon_n and_o yet_o further_o confirm_v this_o his_o confidence_n from_o god_n covenant_n with_o they_o from_o his_o eternal_a immutability_n who_o have_v also_o from_o of_o old_a be_v in_o covenant_n with_o they_o as_o the_o word_n will_v also_o bear_v and_o his_o holiness_n and_o from_o his_o purpose_n power_n and_o providence_n in_o appoint_v the_o chaldaean_n to_o punish_v and_o correct_v but_o not_o to_o destroy_v the_o church_n doct._n 1._o judgement_n threaten_v or_o inflict_v may_v speak_v sad_a thing_n to_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o godly_a then_o god_n real_o intend_v by_o they_o for_o so_o be_v insinuate_v that_o to_o die_v or_o irreparable_a desolation_n be_v present_v to_o their_o mind_n in_o this_o stroke_n 2._o as_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o continue_v a_o church_n of_o the_o jew_n under_o the_o law_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o their_o calamity_n so_o he_o will_v never_o want_v a_o church_n and_o people_n in_o the_o world_n however_o he_o may_v correct_v and_o he_o may_v inflict_v many_o judgement_n on_o a_o visible_a church_n and_o yet_o not_o cast_v she_o off_o and_o he_o will_v be_v good_a everlasting_o to_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n albeit_o he_o toss_v their_o body_n and_o their_o mind_n 3.9_o doct._n 1._o in_o decline_a time_n the_o lord_n have_v a_o peculiar_a eye_n to_o the_o godly_a and_o expect_v much_o from_o they_o therefore_o leave_v the_o wicked_a nation_n he_o turn_v to_o they_o with_o exhortation_n and_o promise_n 2._o the_o truth_n and_o reality_n of_o grace_n will_v manifest_v itself_o in_o man_n be_v of_o subdue_v meek_a and_o humble_a spirit_n stoop_v to_o the_o word_n abase_v themselves_o tremble_v under_o judgement_n and_o tender_a towards_o other_o and_o in_o their_o not_o give_v way_n to_o discouragement_n from_o duty_n however_o they_o be_v humble_a but_o stir_v up_o themselves_o to_o seek_v god_n for_o himself_o and_o adorn_v their_o profession_n with_o righteous_a conversation_n respect_v god_n command_n whatever_o their_o own_o natural_a or_o obey_v his_o righteous_a ordinance_n enjoin_v to_o they_o 3._o though_o it_o be_v incident_a to_o the_o godly_a to_o fall_v into_o some_o decay_n in_o a_o time_n of_o general_a defection_n and_o to_o be_v discourage_v from_o their_o duty_n by_o the_o evil_a example_n of_o other_o yet_o the_o true_o godly_a aught_o to_o prove_v themselves_o to_o be_v such_o by_o their_o perseverance_n and_o need_v and_o seek_v more_o of_o what_o they_o already_o have_v and_o of_o christ_n righteousness_n to_o cover_v all_o and_o especial_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v on_o the_o grow_a hand_n if_o they_o will_v bear_v out_o and_o find_v favour_n in_o a_o evil_a time_n therefore_o in_o such_o a_o time_n be_v this_o exhortation_n give_v seek_v you_o the_o lord_n seek_v righteousness_n seek_v meekness_n the_o repeat_n of_o the_o exhortation_n show_v the_o necessity_n of_o the_o thing_n exhort_v to_o 4._o as_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n great_a mercy_n towards_o such_o as_o fear_v he_o that_o he_o put_v tenderness_n who_o will_v not_o withhold_v any_o good_a thing_n from_o his_o own_o ps_n 34.10_o and_o 84_o 11._o for_o these_o cause_v it_o be_v that_o this_o exhortation_n be_v second_v with_o so_o uncertain-like_a a_o encouragement_n it_o may_v be_v you_o shall_v be_v hide_v etc._n etc._n 6._o whatever_o uncertainty_n seeker_n of_o god_n may_v be_v put_v to_o as_o to_o receive_v of_o temporal_a thus_o 1._o judgement_n threaten_v or_o execute_v upon_o other_o ought_v to_o stir_v up_o the_o wicked_a in_o the_o church_n to_o repent_v gather_v yourselves_o for_o gaza_n shall_v be_v forsake_v
