here_o he_o add_v when_o he_o say_v my_o delight_n be_v in_o thy_o word_n he_o declare_v what_o sign_n and_o token_n he_o desire_v of_o god_n here_o before_o that_o he_o will_v do_v unto_o he_o as_o he_o have_v promise_v for_o i_o have_v delight_n therein_o say_v he_o will_v we_o then_o have_v god_n his_o promise_n to_o take_v place_n in_o we_o to_o open_v the_o gate_n that_o we_o may_v come_v untoo_o he_o that_o they_o may_v be_v as_o key_n too_o give_v we_o in_o entry_n too_o the_o end_n our_o request_n and_o petition_n may_v be_v receive_v we_o must_v then_o join_v hope_n therewith_o and_o lo_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o we_o feel_v not_o the_o power_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n as_o we_o ought_v the_o reason_n be_v for_o that_o we_o have_v no_o hope_n nor_o trust_v in_o they_o it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o god_n for_o his_o part_n be_v always_o true_a of_o his_o word_n and_o although_o we_o be_v miserable_a faithless_a people_n yet_o will_v he_o never_o falsify_v his_o faith_n which_o he_o have_v give_v to_o us._n but_o what_o sure_o we_o be_v unwoorthy_a one_o too_o feel_v such_o a_o pleasure_n in_o very_a deed_n god_n have_v promise_v to_o pour_v his_o grace_n upon_o we_o as_o also_o he_o offer_v it_o untoo_o we_o but_o yet_o be_v we_o utter_o unworthy_a thereof_o without_o we_o believe_v his_o promise_n will_v we_o that_o god_n shall_v do_v unto_o we_o according_a to_o his_o word_n we_o must_v then_o receive_v his_o word_n and_o embrace_v it_o by_o faith_n 2._o heb._n 4._o 2._o as_o also_o the_o apostle_n treat_v thereof_o and_o thus_o much_o as_o touch_v these_o two_o first_o verse_n now_o it_o follow_v take_v not_o the_o word_n of_o thy_o truth_n utter_o out_o of_o my_o mouth_n for_o i_o wait_v for_o thy_o judgement_n when_o david_n well_o enough_o and_o in_o good_a case_n when_o as_o they_o be_v open_o suppose_v too_o be_v very_o faithful_a well_o think_v off_o and_o take_v to_o be_v very_o honest_a man_n this_o think_v they_o be_v all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v require_v but_o david_n have_v not_o proceed_v after_o this_o manner_n for_o when_o he_o say_v take_v not_o the_o word_n of_o thy_o truth_n out_o of_o my_o month_n o_o lord_n it_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v fayde_v o_o lord_n do_v i_o not_o only_o this_o grace_n that_o i_o trust_v secret_o in_o thou_o that_o i_o stay_v i_o upon_o thy_o promise_n that_o i_o stand_v sure_a against_o all_o the_o assault_n of_o my_o enemy_n but_o namely_o and_o chief_o even_o before_o the_o face_n of_o man_n that_o my_o faith_n may_v declare_v itself_o that_o by_o this_o mean_a i_o may_v guide_v and_o instruct_v all_o those_o which_o will_v come_v unto_o thou_o &_o contrariwise_o that_o i_o may_v withstand_v all_o those_o which_o shall_v go_v about_o to_o overthrow_v man_n in_o all_o the_o world_n know_v thereof_o yet_o god_n and_o his_o angel_n do_v know_v how_o true_a and_o certain_a we_o esteem_v it_o to_o be_v and_o also_o how_o we_o yield_v thereto_o the_o honour_n which_o unto_o it_o appertain_v and_o to_o be_v such_o in_o deed_n as_o deserve_v to_o be_v hold_v for_o true_a and_o faithful_a and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o first_o point_n now_o for_o the_o second_o let_v we_o advise_o consider_v to_o edify_v our_o neighbour_n that_o they_o may_v be_v confirm_v by_o our_o example_n and_o all_o with_o one_o accord_n to_o trust_v in_o god_n that_o god_n and_o to_o confound_v all_o they_o which_o deride_v and_o scorn_v his_o word_n and_o truth_n but_o what_o mean_v he_o by_o this_o say_n for_o ever_o that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v forsake_v of_o god_n in_o all_o his_o affliction_n be_v as_o one_o that_o be_v dumb_a and_o can_v not_o speak_v as_o he_o complain_v in_o another_o place_n and_o in_o deed_n so_o long_o as_o god_n show_v unto_o we_o no_o token_n of_o his_o grace_n although_o our_o enemy_n deride_v we_o with_o open_a mouth_n yet_o we_o be_v not_o at_o that_o liberty_n to_o confute_v they_o and_o stop_v their_o mouth_n david_n then_o be_v thus_o tempt_v a_o long_a time_n desire_v that_o the_o confession_n wherewith_o he_o may_v be_v able_a to_o magnify_v god_n may_v not_o to_o be_v take_v from_o he_o for_o ever_o wherein_o we_o be_v to_o observe_v that_o if_o god_n sometime_o leave_v we_o confound_v after_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o world_n in_o stead_n of_o be_v dismay_v we_o ought_v too_o beseech_v to_o that_o place_n which_o i_o have_v allege_v out_o of_o the_o epistle_n too_o the_o hebrews_n when_o we_o have_v therewith_o hope_v also_o which_o hang_v upon_o faith_n it_o be_v true_a that_o people_n god_n have_v no_o long_a time_n to_o find_v out_o such_o a_o wonder_a &_o marvellous_a strange_a mean_n as_o that_o man_n can_v not_o possible_o conceive_v how_o that_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o pass_v which_o he_o have_v speak_v but_o this_o avayl_v they_o nothing_o which_o be_v faithless_a for_o lo_o they_o be_v exclude_v from_o such_o a_o benefit_n be_v deprive_v of_o that_o promise_a inheritance_n let_v we_o then_o learn_v that_o when_o we_o will_v have_v god_n
and_o fear_n of_o god_n or_o else_o will_v be_v so_o light_o discharge_v thereof_o as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v do_v without_o any_o great_a pain_n as_o how_o i_o pray_v you_o we_o see_v that_o they_o which_o pretend_v colour_n of_o ignorance_n which_o have_v neither_o knowledge_n either_o of_o god_n or_o of_o true_a religion_n will_v say_v sure_o for_o my_o part_n i_o be_o but_o a_o poor_a word_n see_v here_o the_o common_a say_n among_o the_o papist_n ha_o sirrah_n this_o be_v the_o office_n of_o the_o priest_n &_o the_o cloysterer_n our_o prelate_n have_v the_o charge_n over_o we_o we_o be_v secular_a and_o lay_v man_n we_o must_v have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o this_o gear_n and_o beside_o even_o the_o mean_a sort_n of_o we_o have_v also_o our_o excuse_n and_o will_v say_v i_o be_o a_o poor_a man_n i_o must_v get_v my_o live_n with_o great_a pain_n all_o the_o day_n long_o by_o my_o handy_a work_n i_o have_v scarce_o any_o leisure_n once_o co_z come_v to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n on_o the_o sunday_n see_v what_o start_v hole_n we_o find_v out_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v follow_v our_o vanity_n pleasure_n and_o idle_a time_n or_o i_o know_v not_o what_o other_o our_o slothfulness_n rather_o than_o we_o will_v hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o meditate_v thereon_o so_o then_o david_n contrary_o show_v that_o while_o he_o be_v small_a and_o of_o no_o reputation_n yet_o that_o he_o never_o cease_v continual_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o this_o lesson_n even_o to_o submit_v himself_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n and_o so_o we_o see_v he_o to_o be_v give_v more_o excellent_a grace_n upon_o we_o than_o ever_o he_o bestow_v upon_o david_n for_o over_o and_o beside_o the_o doctrine_n which_o david_n receive_v from_o the_o mouth_n of_o moses_n see_v how_o god_n have_v lay_v open_a unto_o we_o the_o infinite_a treasure_n of_o his_o heavenly_a wisdom_n insomuch_o as_o we_o have_v the_o gospel_n out_o of_o which_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v speak_v by_o his_o son_n to_o teach_v we_o that_o be_v to_o make_v both_o heaven_n and_o earth_n to_o shake_v because_o he_o have_v lay_v open_a such_o a_o wonderful_a wisdom_n as_o that_o it_o ought_v to_o shake_v &_o astonish_v we_o when_o as_o god_n speak_v with_o such_o power_n &_o majesty_n unto_o us._n see_v then_o as_o concern_v this_o say_n where_o david_n say_v that_o he_o do_v not_o forget_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n although_o he_o be_v small_a &_o of_o no_o reputation_n now_o he_o add_v thy_o righteousness_n be_v a_o everlasting_a righteousness_n and_o thy_o law_n be_v the_o truth_n yea_o in_o such_o sort_n that_o when_o he_o be_v afflict_v &_o grieve_a that_o he_o take_v pleasure_n in_o say_v thy_o righteousness_n be_v a_o everlasting_a righteousness_n here_o david_n repeat_v a_o word_n which_o have_v a_o double_a signification_n for_o in_o the_o first_o place_n righteousness_n signify_v the_o law_n of_o god_n &_o that_o because_o it_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o all_o goodness_n and_o they_o next_o he_o give_v it_o the_o title_n of_o righteousness_n signify_v thereby_o that_o this_o law_n be_v so_o certain_a a_o rule_n as_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v thorough_o sound_v it_o even_o to_o the_o bottom_n we_o shall_v find_v that_o god_n have_v set_v down_o therein_o a_o perfection_n of_o all_o equity_n and_o sincerity_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v this_o be_v without_o all_o doubt_n a_o perfect_a rule_n of_o righteousness_n now_o he_o couple_v as_o he_o have_v already_o before_o do_v truth_n with_o righteousness_n i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o these_o word_n here_o be_v oftentimes_o repeat_v and_o yet_o it_o be_v no_o superfluous_a kind_n of_o speech_n and_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n because_o we_o may_v full_o and_o whole_o confess_v that_o god_n have_v speak_v most_o wise_o that_o all_o man_n mouth_n may_v be_v stop_v and_o that_o we_o all_o at_o once_o may_v be_v silent_a and_o still_o to_o hear_v he_o there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o will_v confess_v this_o at_o the_o tongue_n end_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n for_o we_o to_o know_v this_o equity_n and_o truth_n which_o be_v contain_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n alas_o we_o be_v too_o too_o far_o off_o so_o then_o let_v every_o man_n look_v well_o unto_o himself_o and_o see_v whether_o his_o life_n be_v agreeable_a unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o no._n and_o if_o it_o be_v it_o be_v a_o manifest_a proof_n that_o the_o righteousness_n and_o truth_n thereof_o be_v deep_o imprint_v in_o his_o heart_n now_o if_o this_o be_v so_o than_o no_o doubt_n of_o it_o god_n his_o word_n be_v honour_v as_o it_o be_v worthy_a then_o let_v we_o render_v unto_o he_o effectual_o the_o praise_n which_o be_v here_o attribute_v unto_o he_o and_o as_o they_o do_v appertain_v unto_o his_o majesty_n but_o if_o we_o do_v say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v good_a and_o holy_a that_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a righteousness_n and_o power_n that_o can_v fail_v and_o yet_o despise_v it_o in_o deed_n show_v ourselves_o clean_o contrary_a unto_o it_o in_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n and_o make_v a_o goodly_a show_n to_o honour_v it_o do_v man_n so_o that_o if_o he_o have_v not_o a_o conduct_n and_o guide_v he_o know_v not_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o he_o even_o so_o fare_v it_o with_o we_o if_o we_o be_v not_o direct_v and_o conduct_v by_o the_o hand_n and_o power_n of_o god_n and_o why_o so_o because_o we_o be_v as_o stranger_n here_o in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o we_o be_v but_o too_o too_o much_o tie_v unto_o our_o affection_n and_o will_n and_o yet_o out_o alas_o our_o sense_n and_o wit_n be_v so_o confound_v that_o we_o know_v not_o what_o way_n to_o take_v or_o hold_v except_o we_o be_v show_v it_o loe_o here_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o similitude_n which_o david_n here_o use_v in_o say_v that_o he_o be_v a_o stranger_n in_o the_o world_n which_o be_v that_o he_o complain_v that_o judgement_n always_o when_o he_o say_v that_o his_o soul_n break_v out_o it_o be_v too_o protest_v that_o he_o desire_v not_o that_o thing_n of_o god_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v either_o for_o commandment_n wherefore_o here_o be_v three_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v off_o the_o one_o be_v that_o if_o we_o will_v obtain_v at_o god_n hand_n to_o be_v conduct_v by_o he_o and_o to_o have_v matter_n and_o thus_o much_o as_o touch_v the_o first_o point_n which_o here_o we_o have_v to_o note_v the_o second_o be_v that_o this_o desire_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v only_o as_o a_o waver_a desire_n but_o a_o ardent_a and_o a_o hot_a desire_n for_o he_o say_v that_o his_o soul_n have_v faint_v and_o why_o so_o let_v we_o here_o a_o little_a consider_v what_o our_o appetite_n and_o lust_n be_v when_o we_o turn_v ourselves_o away_o from_o god_n and_o give_v ourselves_o whole_o to_o worldly_a thing_n they_o be_v so_o excessive_a and_o inordinate_a that_o it_o be_v even_o pitiful_a be_v even_o so_o forcible_a shall_v the_o good_a affection_n of_o a_o faithful_a man_n be_v if_o this_o affection_n be_v not_o fervent_a and_o very_o vehement_a it_o shall_v be_v soon_o choke_v by_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o carnal_a passion_n &_o affection_n which_o as_o i_o have_v before_o say_v have_v neither_o measure_n modesty_n nor_o temperance_n see_v then_o for_o the_o second_o point_n what_o we_o have_v here_o to_o note_v in_o this_o behalf_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o we_o have_v a_o mean_a desire_n to_o serve_v god_n for_o that_o will_v be_v very_o soon_o quench_v in_o we_o and_o be_v make_v nothing_o worth_a but_o we_o must_v be_v so_o attentive_a thereto_o as_o that_o we_o may_v able_a to_o say_v that_o our_o soul_n faint_v and_o languish_v that_o our_o power_n and_o strength_n drop_v and_o melt_v away_o as_o it_o be_v until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n relieve_v we_o in_o grant_v that_o unto_o we_o which_o we_o require_v of_o he_o the_o three_o point_n which_o we_o have_v here_o to_o note_v be_v the_o firmness_n and_o constancy_n in_o this_o our_o desire_n and_o see_v here_o why_o david_n be_v not_o content_v with_o this_o say_n that_o his_o soul_n be_v break_v out_o but_o he_o say_v always_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o a_o blast_n of_o wound_n but_o a_o root_a affection_n in_o his_o heart_n and_o that_o he_o persevere_v therein_o now_o these_o three_o thing_n be_v most_o necessary_a for_o we_o see_v in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v by_o nature_n incline_v to_o vanity_n because_o that_o be_v so_o addict_v unto_o the_o world_n we_o think_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o of_o heaven_n we_o ought_v therefore_o to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o very_a attentive_a to_o this_o doctrine_n &_o to_o have_v a_o burn_a desire_n to_o follow_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o beside_o this_o our_o affection_n ought_v to_o be_v so_o vehement_a as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v able_a to_o have_v the_o dominion_n over_o all_o our_o affection_n which_o hinder_v we_o to_o cleave_v unto_o our_o god_n and_o even_o to_o be_v marvelous_o ravish_v therewith_o now_o it_o have_v need_v to_o be_v mighty_o strengthen_v with_o the_o power_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o our_o lust_n be_v too_o too_o mad_a and_o furious_a if_o god_n stretch_v not_o forth_o his_o arm_n unto_o it_o what_o shall_v become_v thereof_o and_o put_v the_o case_n that_o we_o have_v a_o good_a desire_n sure_o it_o will_v very_o soon_o vanish_v away_o in_o us._n we_o must_v be_v wonderful_a fervent_a therein_o and_o afterward_o when_o we_o hall_n have_v such_o a_o good_a and_o steadfast_a affection_n we_o must_v be_v wonderful_o in_o love_n with_o the_o word_n of_o god_n not_o for_o a_o day_n nor_o yet_o for_o when_o he_o have_v appeal_v and_o bring_v we_o to_o death_n door_n to_o restore_v and_o quicken_v we_o again_o but_o we_o be_v to_o understande_v that_o we_o must_v not_o come_v unto_o he_o after_o a_o hypocritical_a manner_n we_o must_v not_o require_v he_o too_o restore_v we_o and_o yet_o have_v our_o mind_n wander_v here_o and_o there_o neither_o yet_o must_v we_o seek_v for_o that_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n which_o we_o make_v countenance_n to_o seek_v for_o at_o his_o hand_n we_o must_v not_o make_v we_o two_o way_n to_o the_o wood_n as_o we_o say_v but_o our_o whole_a delight_n and_o contentation_n must_v be_v in_o god_n and_o in_o his_o grace_n that_o it_o suffice_v we_o to_o have_v he_o only_o and_o to_o feel_v his_o mercy_n and_o compassion_n towards_o we_o and_o when_o we_o have_v get_v that_o to_o be_v content_v only_o therewith_o but_o because_o we_o can_v not_o come_v unto_o god_n without_o he_o himself_o draw_v we_o when_o as_o we_o desire_v he_o to_o restore_v we_o and_o to_o stretch_v out_o his_o hand_n unto_o we_o we_o must_v add_v thereto_o this_o say_n here_o express_v to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v quicken_v we_o according_a to_o his_o word_n now_o by_o this_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o be_v teach_v that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o death_n we_o find_v salvation_n and_o health_n because_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n never_o fail_v us._n it_o follow_v in_o the_o second_o verse_n i_o have_v declare_v my_o way_n and_o thou_o hear_v i_o teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n here_o david_n allege_v another_o reason_n that_o god_n hear_v he_o to_o wit_n that_o this_o be_v not_o the_o first_o time_n that_o he_o have_v hear_v he_o neither_o yet_o that_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o liberal_a to_o grant_v unto_o his_o faithful_a their_o petition_n and_o request_n but_o we_o in_o very_a deed_n must_v in_o continue_v the_o matter_n which_o we_o be_v here_o in_o hand_n to_o open_v be_v thorough_o assure_v and_o resolve_v that_o it_o be_v not_o in_o vain_a when_o as_o we_o make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o god_n neither_o yet_o that_o we_o lose_v our_o labour_n but_o that_o our_o prayer_n shall_v profit_v us._n we_o must_v therefore_o be_v full_o resolve_v herein_o and_o how_o must_v that_o be_v forsooth_o david_n even_o very_o now_o allege_v unto_o god_n his_o promise_n assure_v himself_o that_o he_o receive_v they_o through_o his_o mere_a mercy_n and_o goodness_n and_o this_o be_v no_o foolehardinesse_n even_o so_o then_o let_v we_o in_o no_o case_n fear_v to_o come_v unto_o god_n bold_o and_o cheerful_o upon_o this_o condition_n yea_o so_o good_a and_o liberal_a o_o i_o now_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o thou_o will_v continue_v the_o same_o thy_o goodness_n wherefore_o i_o beseech_v thou_o teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n see_v here_o a_o text_n worthy_a the_o mark_v for_o as_o i_o have_v before_o say_v we_o must_v not_o come_v unto_o god_n doubt_v and_o waver_v but_o with_o full_a resolution_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n and_o how_o be_v that_o o_o we_o have_v a_o most_o sure_a and_o infallible_a testimony_n too_o wit_n he_o have_v promise_v too_o be_v near_o unto_o all_o those_o which_o shall_v crave_v and_o beg_v of_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v much_o more_o heedful_a than_o we_o be_v of_o all_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v come_v too_o this_o consideration_n of_o the_o reason_n which_o david_n here_o bring_v in_o too_o wit_n that_o we_o may_v say_v untoo_o god_n that_o he_o have_v hear_v us._n now_o there_o be_v very_o few_o of_o we_o that_o can_v do_v this_o and_o why_o so_o because_o that_o when_o we_o be_v in_o any_o distress_n we_o never_o think_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n yea_o although_o the_o grief_n or_o disease_n press_v and_o grieve_v we_o never_o so_o much_o and_o yet_o if_o we_o do_v then_o call_v upon_o he_o it_o be_v so_o that_o assoon_o as_o we_o have_v escape_v the_o danger_n we_o will_v not_o acknowledge_v it_o too_o be_v god_n that_o have_v have_v when_o as_o the_o hart_n bend_v itself_o altogether_o to_o mischief_n and_o iniquity_n be_v not_o this_o i_o pray_v you_o to_o mock_v god_n what_o other_o thing_n else_o be_v it_o let_v we_o then_o shall_v have_v set_v our_o heart_n at_o liberty_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v so_o dispose_v &_o order_v we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v free_o bend_v ourselves_o &_o sully_v &_o whole_o yield_v our_o affection_n unto_o he_o for_o otherwise_o we_o have_v our_o heart_n fast_o shut_v up_o shall_v always_o become_v the_o bondslave_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v very_o true_a hat_n while_o we_o as_o a_o prophet_n of_o god_n what_o our_o duty_n be_v &_o what_o the_o power_n and_o virtue_n of_o our_o faith_n ought_v too_o be_v but_o show_v we_o also_o the_o way_n by_o his_o example_n how_o we_o must_v be_v patient_a in_o all_o our_o adversity_n and_o how_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o fall_v from_o that_o to_o wit_n that_o we_o always_o have_v our_o eye_n fix_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n for_o that_o shall_v be_v enough_o to_o entertain_v and_o keep_v we_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o we_o shall_v patient_o wait_v for_o his_o save_a health_n yea_o even_o in_o call_v upon_o he_o but_o that_o we_o may_v the_o better_a profit_n by_o this_o doctrine_n we_o be_v here_o to_o note_v that_o the_o two_o first_o verse_n be_v both_o of_o one_o and_o selfsame_o substance_n save_v that_o the_o order_n of_o the_o word_n be_v change_v he_o say_v in_o the_o first_o place_n my_o soul_n faint_v for_o thy_o salvation_n that_o be_v to_o say_v o_o lord_n i_o have_v long_v albeit_o the_o affliction_n and_o misery_n which_o i_o have_v abide_v be_v very_o great_a and_o last_v long_o and_o that_o i_o see_v neither_o end_n nor_o issue_n of_o they_o yet_o nevertheless_o i_o rest_v altogether_o hereon_o that_o i_o always_o trust_v that_o thou_o will_v be_v my_o supporter_n and_o aider_n now_o he_o add_v the_o reason_n how_o he_o can_v so_o faint_v to_o wit_n because_o he_o trust_v unto_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o the_o second_o verse_n he_o say_v that_o he_o have_v fail_v for_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n yea_o even_o look_v for_o this_o promise_n and_o that_o he_o have_v say_v when_o will_v thou_o comfort_v i_o and_o in_o the_o three_o he_o handle_v that_o which_o before_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o to_o wit_n that_o although_o he_o have_v beeene_v as_o it_o be_v that_o he_o have_v not_o forget_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n we_o see_v then_o now_o what_o the_o sum_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o be_v which_o be_v here_o show_v unto_o we_o to_o wit_n that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o only_a mean_a too_o cause_v we_o to_o be_v constant_a and_o patient_a when_o as_o we_o be_v afflict_v and_o that_o our_o adversity_n do_v ever_o long_o last_v as_o we_o imagine_v that_o be_v too_o be_v mindful_a of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n and_o to_o have_v they_o deep_o imprint_v in_o our_o heart_n for_o if_o that_o be_v so_o it_o will_v not_o cost_v we_o much_o impatience_n spring_v and_o what_o the_o reason_n be_v why_o we_o be_v so_o oftentimes_o overcome_v with_o temptation_n or_o else_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v for_o a_o time_n resist_v they_o yet_o in_o the_o end_n we_o be_v confound_v and_o fainthearted_a true_o it_o be_v because_o we_o forget_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n and_o turn_v away_o from_o his_o word_n in_o very_a deed_n this_o at_o the_o first_o sight_n may_v seem_v too_o be_v a_o common_a matter_n with_o us._n and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n every_o man_n will_v say_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o remember_v they_o and_o that_o taste_n of_o the_o bounty_n and_o fatherly_a love_n which_o he_o bear_v us._n now_o how_o can_v it_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v full_o persuade_v that_o god_n love_v we_o and_o procure_v our_o and_o that_o which_o be_v more_o david_n say_v in_o a_o other_o place_n that_o if_o man_n be_v lay_v in_o one_o school_n &_o vanity_n in_o a_o other_o that_o vanity_n which_o be_v nothing_o will_v way_n down_o man_n great_o and_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v too_o stand_v long_o dispute_v of_o this_o for_o every_o man_n by_o his_o own_o experience_n can_v testify_v what_o it_o be_v and_o what_o deal_n more_o high_a than_o into_o our_o own_o sense_n when_o we_o will_v comprehend_v how_o god_n be_v true_a and_o faithful_a when_o we_o will_v feel_v the_o certainty_n and_o assurance_n of_o his_o word_n we_o must_v enter_v into_o a_o more_o deep_a consideration_n than_o our_o sense_n be_v able_a too_o bear_v and_o not_o look_v so_o into_o the_o visible_a thing_n or_o into_o that_o which_o we_o shake_v through_o the_o alteration_n and_o change_n which_o here_o we_o see_v no_o otherwise_o but_o by_o the_o lightness_n and_o inconstancy_n of_o man_n when_o as_o they_o do_v nothing_o else_o declare_v it_o and_o that_o all_o creature_n be_v subject_a unto_o he_o this_o dispose_n &_o order_n must_v needs_o continue_v in_o his_o estate_n and_o although_o we_o see_v all_o thing_n to_o turn_v on_o this_o side_n and_o on_o that_o yet_o god_n always_o give_v we_o some_o visible_a sign_n too_o show_v we_o that_o he_o never_o alter_v nor_o change_v his_o purpose_n and_o chief_o that_o his_o truth_n be_v never_o subject_v too_o any_o change_n we_o see_v now_o in_o sum_n what_o the_o substance_n be_v that_o be_v contain_v in_o these_o three_o verse_n now_o that_o we_o may_v apply_v all_o think_v either_o of_o this_o thing_n or_o of_o that_o sometime_o the_o temptation_n be_v easy_a too_o overcome_v but_o after_o we_o shall_v see_v some_o apparaunce_n of_o danger_n that_o shall_v trouble_v we_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o yea_o and_o some_o one_o threat_n or_o other_o we_o shall_v have_v that_o shall_v even_o abash_v us._n and_o if_o that_o be_v not_o so_o yet_o shall_v we_o have_v occasion_n enough_o in_o out_o head_n too_o make_v we_o unquiet_a that_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o be_v otherwise_o trouble_v but_o every_o one_o of_o we_o have_v in_o himself_o store_n of_o tempest_n &_o storm_n so_o that_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o our_o own_o very_a fantasye_n they_o will_v be_v so_o many_o whyrlewinde_n too_o make_v we_o never_o to_o have_v quiet_a mind_n now_o see_v then_o a_o good_a remedy_n that_o be_v let_v we_o know_v that_o although_o we_o be_v environ_v with_o a_o great_a number_n of_o danger_n although_o there_o be_v no_o certainty_n in_o our_o life_n although_o there_o be_v always_o a_o hundred_o death_n before_o our_o eye_n yea_o that_o we_o think_v the_o devil_n shall_v swallow_v we_o up_o every_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n yet_o must_v we_o be_v peaceable_a and_o hold_v ourselves_o quiet_a and_o still_o because_o that_o god_n have_v lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o his_o word_n and_o that_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o keep_v our_o life_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o certify_v we_o that_o he_o have_v care_n both_o of_o our_o soul_n and_o body_n let_v we_o know_v and_o be_v certain_o assure_v that_o herein_o consist_v all_o our_o constancy_n so_o then_o let_v we_o right_o apply_v this_o doctrine_n for_o our_o instruction_n that_o when_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v permanent_a in_o heaven_n that_o his_o truth_n show_v itself_o from_o age_n to_o age_n &_o so_o continue_v that_o it_o be_v namely_o speak_v to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v patient_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o the_o trouble_n giefe_n and_o anguish_v which_o we_o may_v have_v be_v shake_v amid_o so_o many_o danger_n and_o also_o see_v the_o endless_a and_o incessant_a change_n which_o be_v here_o beneath_o and_o nothing_o else_o but_o all_o unquietness_n let_v we_o then_o see_v what_o be_v here_o to_o be_v consider_v for_o the_o first_o point_n we_o must_v not_o seek_v to_o take_v our_o rest_n in_o this_o world_n for_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v it_o here_o but_o let_v we_o always_o have_v our_o recourse_n too_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n moreover_o let_v we_o see_v if_o we_o can_v right_o practice_v this_o doctrine_n that_o nothing_o hinder_v we_o but_o that_o we_o may_v live_v in_o peace_n and_o tranquillity_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o most_o great_a and_o dangerous_a confusion_n which_o may_v light_v upon_o us._n let_v we_o also_o see_v that_o whether_o the_o wind_n blow_v in_o this_o corner_n or_o in_o that_o that_o there_o be_v garboil_n of_o war_n that_o there_o be_v pestilence_n &_o famine_n and_o such_o like_a that_o it_o seem_v we_o shall_v perish_v a_o thousand_o manner_n of_o way_n yet_o all_o they_o which_o settle_v themselves_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n will_v never_o be_v but_o certain_a for_o they_o shall_v feel_v both_o in_o life_n and_o death_n that_o they_o be_v in_o his_o hand_n and_o protection_n and_o have_v this_o confidence_n with_o themselves_o they_o will_v make_v no_o reckon_n of_o all_o whatsoever_o shall_v come_v unto_o they_o as_o we_o see_v saint_n paul_n command_v we_o too_o exalte_n ourselves_o against_o all_o thing_n present_a and_o too_o come_v so_o that_o we_o be_v full_o resolve_v that_o god_n love_v us._n when_o this_o shall_v be_v in_o we_o 8.38.39_o rom._n 8.38.39_o and_o we_o shall_v have_v hereof_o a_o good_a testimony_n in_o our_o own_o conscience_n through_o faith_n and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n loe_o how_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o and_o solace_v ourselves_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o our_o trouble_n and_o confusion_n which_o here_o we_o see_v and_o by_o that_o mean_n be_v never_o at_o peace_n and_o rest_n and_o not_o too_o be_v great_o turmoil_v for_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v come_v unto_o we_o the_o next_o day_n and_o why_o so_o for_o have_v god_n who_o have_v declare_v himself_o unto_o we_o too_o be_v our_o father_n speak_v it_o but_o for_o a_o day_n only_o where_o as_o he_o have_v testify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o will_v have_v our_o salvation_n in_o his_o hand_n be_v here_o any_o time_n lymit_v now_o we_o see_v too_o the_o contrary_a that_o god_n say_v that_o he_o will_v never_o forsake_v us._n our_o hope_n then_o
must_v stretch_v itself_o clean_o beyond_o the_o world_n and_o so_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v toss_v with_o the_o wind_n and_o tempest_n which_o shall_v blow_v against_o we_o to_o make_v we_o turn_v back_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v a_o sure_a foundation_n upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o as_o concern_v this_o proof_n which_o david_n add_v say_v that_o god_n have_v lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o the_o earth_n the_o same_o be_v but_o a_o little_a taste_n which_o he_o give_v we_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n now_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o have_v this_o taste_n only_o to_o know_v whether_o god_n be_v faithful_a and_o that_o his_o truth_n be_v everlasting_a for_o to_o prove_v it_o to_o be_v so_o we_o see_v that_o neither_o heaven_n nor_o earth_n but_o be_v subject_a too_o corruption_n and_o that_o all_o must_v pass_v only_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v say_v too_o last_o for_o ever_o and_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v so_o for_o else_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o our_o salvation_n it_o shall_v be_v corrupt_a very_o soon_o let_v we_o not_o once_o think_v then_o that_o david_n his_o meaning_n here_o be_v too_o make_v a_o comparison_n and_o a_o equal_a proportion_n of_o the_o continuance_n of_o this_o world_n and_o the_o constancy_n which_o we_o see_v in_o the_o order_n of_o nature_n with_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n but_o he_o show_v unto_o we_o that_o even_o in_o these_o corruptible_a thing_n we_o may_v the_o better_o perceive_v how_o faithful_a god_n be_v and_o if_o he_o be_v true_a in_o these_o thing_n on_o the_o earth_n what_o shall_v he_o himself_o then_o be_v i_o beseech_v you_o tell_v i_o from_z whence_o have_v the_o earth_n her_o foundation_n it_o be_v found_v both_o upon_o the_o water_n and_o also_o upon_o the_o air_n loe_o her_o foundation_n we_o can_v not_o possible_o build_v a_o house_n fifteen_o foot_n hight_v upon_o the_o firm_a ground_n but_o that_o we_o must_v lay_v a_o foundation_n see_v all_o the_o whole_a earth_n be_v found_v only_o waver_v and_o as_o it_o be_v hang_v yea_o and_o upon_o so_o bottomless_a deapthes_fw-mi as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v turn_v upsidedowne_v in_o the_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n and_o the_o whole_a substance_n of_o it_o utter_o overthrow_v it_o must_v needs_o then_o be_v that_o there_o be_v a_o wonderful_a power_n of_o god_n show_v in_o the_o conserve_n of_o it_o in_o the_o same_o sort_n it_o stand_v and_o that_o be_v it_o which_o be_v here_o show_v unto_o we_o to_o wit_n because_o that_o god_n have_v say_v that_o the_o earth_n be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o world_n and_o that_o it_o be_v so_o lay_v as_o it_o be_v hereby_o we_o know_v what_o the_o certainty_n of_o his_o truth_n be_v but_o we_o must_v here_o forsooth_o compare_v the_o less_o thing_n with_o the_o great_a as_o we_o say_v how_o from_o the_o lesser_a to_o the_o great_a i_o will_v show_v you_o by_o example_n if_o i_o say_v we_o do_v see_v such_o excellency_n in_o the_o body_n of_o a_o man_n as_o that_o it_o may_v bethink_v to_o be_v even_o the_o very_a image_n of_o god_n whereby_o we_o know_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v write_v that_o god_n have_v ordain_v man_n to_o be_v the_o chief_a of_o all_o his_o creature_n and_o give_v he_o great_a dignity_n nobleness_n and_o power_n over_o all_o live_a creature_n 8.6_o psal_n 8.6_o even_o so_o also_o in_o praise_v that_o which_o be_v in_o man_n we_o may_v descend_v from_o the_o body_n to_o the_o soul_n and_o this_o be_v from_o the_o hy_a too_o the_o low_a and_o from_o the_o less_o to_o the_o more_o so_o likewise_o be_v it_o in_o this_o place_n when_o david_n set_v before_o our_o eye_n the_o order_n of_o nature_n this_o be_v not_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v to_o measure_v and_o compare_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n with_o such_o a_o measure_n but_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v reason_v and_o say_v if_o in_o these_o frail_a and_o transitory_a thing_n which_o be_v subject_a to_o corruption_n we_o see_v such_o a_o constancy_n because_o it_o be_v god_n his_o will_v it_o shall_v be_v so_o what_o shall_v we_o then_o say_v of_o his_o truth_n which_o surpass_v all_o the_o world_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v make_v such_o a_o comparison_n between_o the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n we_o may_v certain_o conclude_v that_o god_n sufficien_o grant_v we_o wherewith_o too_o settle_v ourselves_o upon_o his_o word_n we_o must_v not_o be_v so_o inconstant_a as_o too_o let_v our_o faith_n be_v shake_v so_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o world_n toss_v with_o any_o trouble_n but_o rather_o too_o take_v this_o place_n which_o be_v here_o show_v unto_o we_o by_o david_n for_o our_o refuge_n and_o this_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o this_o place_n now_o it_o follow_v afterward_o except_o the_o lord_n have_v be_v my_o delight_n i_o shall_v now_o have_v perish_v in_o my_o trouble_n david_n here_o speak_v this_o of_o his_o own_o proper_a experience_n and_o knowledge_n before_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o truth_n and_o excellency_n of_o god_n in_o general_a and_o say_v that_o it_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o afterward_o he_o proove_v it_o by_o visible_a thing_n which_o be_v very_o manifest_a unto_o we_o and_o which_o god_n point_v out_o unto_o we_o as_o it_o be_v with_o his_o finger_n in_o the_o three_o place_n he_o say_v that_o he_o speak_v not_o of_o unknowen_a thing_n that_o he_o may_v dispute_v of_o they_o at_o random_n but_o that_o he_o have_v right_o practise_v that_o which_o he_o have_v speak_v because_o that_o he_o be_v preserve_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o he_o now_o show_v we_o where_o we_o ought_v to_o seek_v for_o this_o word_n whereof_o he_o have_v general_o speak_v heretofore_o for_o we_o may_v use_v this_o name_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o it_o may_v be_v hide_v in_o the_o air_n or_o among_o the_o cloud_n but_o because_o he_o have_v give_v unto_o we_o his_o word_n familyar_o and_o communicate_v the_o same_o with_o we_o daily_o even_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n let_v we_o consider_v that_o in_o give_v honour_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o say_v that_o it_o be_v infallible_a let_v we_o not_o imagine_v it_o to_o be_v how_o god_n have_v first_o declare_v his_o word_n unto_o we_o wherein_o our_o salvation_n be_v altogether_o certain_a now_o here_o we_o have_v to_o note_v in_o this_o strain_n that_o david_n have_v have_v such_o experience_n deserve_v well_o to_o be_v hear_v and_o that_o they_o be_v no_o vain_a word_n which_o he_o here_o set_v down_o before_o hand_n but_o that_o god_n also_o will_v have_v it_o so_o too_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v give_v the_o more_o credit_n unto_o it_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v no_o whit_n doubt_v of_o any_o thing_n that_o he_o teach_v we_o when_o as_o he_o himself_o have_v make_v proof_n of_o all_o that_o which_o he_o before_o have_v speak_v and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o first_o point_n the_o experience_n then_o whereof_o david_n speak_v shall_v very_o well_o serve_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o our_o seal_n by_o which_o god_n mean_v too_o make_v the_o doctrine_n of_o his_o prophet_n to_o be_v of_o so_o much_o the_o more_o antiquity_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o for_o his_o own_o particular_a use_n but_o to_o the_o end_n also_o to_o instruct_v his_o neighbour_n and_o to_o communicate_v to_o they_o the_o matter_n which_o he_o have_v hear_v and_o learn_v now_o down_o before_o we_o for_o david_n speak_v not_o this_o for_o himself_o but_o tell_v we_o what_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v if_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o instruct_v we_o and_o too_o have_v he_o to_o make_v we_o partaker_n of_o his_o truth_n wherein_o consist_v our_o whole_a felicity_n and_o welfare_n for_o if_o we_o wax_v cold_a &_o make_v no_o account_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o be_v not_o worthy_a that_o he_o shall_v give_v we_o the_o least_o taste_n thereof_o and_o for_o this_o cause_n we_o must_v not_o marvel_v much_o though_o so_o small_a a_o number_n at_o this_o day_n have_v profit_v in_o the_o scripture_n although_o every_o man_n desire_v to_o be_v praise_v and_o esteem_v amongst_o man_n to_o be_v very_o able_a and_o sufficient_a yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o see_v what_o ignorance_n be_v in_o the_o great_a number_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v good_a reason_n that_o god_n shall_v shut_v the_o gate_n upon_o we_o so_o that_o we_o may_v not_o have_v so_o much_o as_o the_o least_o entrance_n into_o his_o word_n and_o why_o so_o for_o where_o be_v the_o love_n and_o desire_n that_o david_n here_o make_v mention_n of_o now_o when_o we_o shall_v know_v such_o a_o vice_n to_o be_v within_o we_o we_o ought_v by_o and_o by_o to_o seek_v to_o amend_v it_o and_o beseech_v god_n to_o put_v this_o coldness_n from_o out_o of_o our_o heart_n and_o that_o it_o will_v please_v he_o to_o inflame_v we_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v to_o prefer_v his_o word_n before_o all_o our_o fleshly_a desire_n that_o we_o be_v no_o more_o so_o much_o then_o our_o teacher_n and_o those_o which_o otherwise_o shall_v have_v be_v in_o stead_n of_o our_o instructour_n to_o be_v short_a that_o all_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n shall_v not_o have_v that_o which_o we_o shall_v find_v there_o and_o that_o all_o the_o wisdom_n which_o be_v in_o all_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n deserve_v not_o to_o be_v equal_a and_o comparable_a too_o it_o loe_o here_o in_o effect_n that_o which_o he_o mean_v now_o we_o ought_v always_o to_o call_v to_o mind_n that_o which_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v when_o as_o david_n here_o set_v down_o himself_o in_o the_o first_o rank_n and_o say_v that_o he_o have_v surpass_v his_o enemy_n teacher_n and_o those_o which_o be_v the_o most_o wise_a and_o of_o great_a understanding_n that_o this_o be_v not_o too_o attribute_v any_o thing_n untoo_o himself_o and_o to_o his_o own_o person_n but_o to_o the_o end_n that_o god_n may_v be_v glorify_v in_o he_o and_o that_o we_o may_v know_v what_o profit_n shall_v redound_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v give_v ourselves_o unto_o it_o we_o see_v then_o that_o david_n have_v no_o regard_n to_o himself_o but_o mean_v rather_o to_o give_v we_o occasion_n to_o glorify_v god_n and_o beside_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o the_o love_n as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v which_o he_o have_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n know_v the_o same_o to_o be_v so_o profitable_a for_o us._n for_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o be_v so_o very_o negligent_a as_o in_o deed_n we_o be_v in_o give_v ourselves_o to_o the_o study_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n that_o we_o think_v it_o to_o be_v even_o labour_n and_o time_n lose_v if_o we_o only_o spend_v but_o one_o hour_n of_o the_o day_n therein_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o such_o contempt_n very_o because_o we_o know_v not_o the_o profit_n that_o may_v come_v unto_o we_o thereby_o for_o if_o we_o be_v thus_o persuade_v that_o all_o our_o wisdom_n be_v and_o consist_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o without_o it_o we_o be_v like_a unto_o miserable_a beast_n so_o that_o satan_n have_v catch_v and_o hold_v we_o fast_o bind_v in_o his_o grin_n and_o snare_n and_o that_o we_o can_v err_v in_o all_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n if_o we_o know_v this_o and_o again_o that_o it_o be_v sufficient_a that_o god_n have_v teach_v we_o and_o so_o have_v thereby_o such_o a_o clear_a light_n as_o that_o will_v never_o fail_v we_o that_o we_o be_v fence_v against_o all_o the_o ambush_n of_o satan_n and_o against_o all_o the_o villainy_n and_o deceit_n of_o the_o world_n if_o then_o we_o be_v thus_o thorough_o persuade_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v sufficient_a against_o all_o this_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o we_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o in_o love_n without_o all_o comparison_n with_o the_o study_n thereof_o then_o now_o we_o be_v and_o therefore_o let_v we_o well_o record_n this_o lesson_n which_o be_v here_o set_v down_o unto_o we_o by_o david_n to_o wit_n that_o in_o the_o first_o place_n we_o shall_v be_v wise_a than_o all_o our_o enemy_n if_o that_o we_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n always_o remain_v with_o us._n now_o when_o he_o say_v that_o he_o be_v make_v wise_a and_o have_v more_o understanding_n than_o his_o enemy_n he_o mean_v that_o he_o have_v so_o excellent_a a_o knowledge_n as_o that_o god_n will_v not_o suffer_v he_o to_o fall_v into_o the_o ambush_n &_o privy_a engine_n which_o the_o ungodly_a have_v lay_v for_o he_o sudden_o to_o be_v entrap_v &_o catch_v by_o their_o subtle_a train_n and_o policy_n loe_o already_o a_o wonderful_a profit_n which_o we_o receive_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o although_o we_o be_v encompass_v with_o the_o wicked_a which_o seek_v nothing_o but_o our_o destruction_n when_o as_o we_o do_v think_v that_o we_o shall_v perish_v every_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n yet_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v guard_v from_o all_o whatsoever_o that_o they_o may_v any_o way_n attempt_n and_o privy_o lie_v in_o wait_n against_o we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v instruct_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lo_o say_v i_o a_o inestimable_a treasure_n but_o we_o must_v consider_v who_o they_o be_v that_o be_v our_o enemy_n for_o we_o have_v not_o only_o to_o do_v with_o man_n which_o seek_v our_o hurt_n dishonour_n or_o that_o which_o may_v grieve_v we_o as_o touch_v this_o present_a life_n but_o we_o have_v satan_n and_o all_o his_o favourer_n and_o maintainer_n which_o be_v deadly_a enemy_n too_o our_o soul_n who_o seek_v nothing_o else_o but_o our_o destruction_n yea_o not_o only_o as_o concern_v the_o world_n
that_o we_o must_v be_v as_o stray_v wild_a beast_n without_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o without_o it_o there_o be_v neither_o way_n nor_o stay_v for_o us._n and_o although_o we_o think_v ourselves_o to_o be_v wise_a enough_o yet_o shall_v we_o be_v altogether_o abuse_v and_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v think_v we_o to_o be_v full_o resolve_v yet_o shall_v all_o our_o case_n &_o estate_n be_v but_o smoke_n when_o then_o we_o shall_v know_v this_o too_o be_v true_a we_o may_v very_o well_o say_v with_o david_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v in_o stead_n of_o a_o lantern_n unto_o us._n for_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o will_v not_o be_v order_v &_o rule_v by_o god_n but_o either_o by_o reason_n of_o our_o pride_n or_o else_o because_o we_o know_v not_o our_o own_o want_n some_o of_o we_o be_v hinder_v through_o a_o vain_a foolish_a opinion_n which_o we_o have_v of_o ourselves_o that_o we_o be_v sufficient_o learn_v too_o judge_v of_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o profitable_a loe_o here_o be_v the_o very_a cause_n why_o we_o will_v not_o give_v place_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n there_o be_v other_o some_o of_o we_o that_o although_o we_o trust_v not_o so_o much_o unto_o our_o own_o wisdom_n yet_o know_v we_o not_o what_o a_o misery_n it_o be_v to_o be_v here_o as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o place_n of_o confusion_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o stay_n of_o all_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n and_o heereuppon_o we_o contemn_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o make_v not_o account_v of_o it_o so_o then_o we_o must_v come_v too_o this_o humility_n that_o be_v whole_o throw_v down_o as_o touch_v the_o presumption_n of_o our_o wit_n we_o must_v suffer_v ourselves_o too_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n and_o beside_o that_o we_o may_v also_o know_v that_o our_o state_n &_o condition_n be_v too_o too_o miserable_a until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v lighten_v with_o this_o lantern_n now_o then_o like_v as_o david_n show_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o example_n that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o have_v any_o other_o guide_n nor_o stay_v but_o that_o which_o proccede_v from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n even_o so_o also_o show_v he_o unto_o we_o that_o if_o so_o be_v we_o be_v teachable_a of_o god_n &_o accept_v he_o as_o our_o schoolmaster_n &_o submit_v ourselves_o to_o he_o that_o we_o shall_v find_v light_a enough_o in_o his_o word_n that_o we_o need_n not_o to_o fear_v to_o be_v confound_v as_o though_o we_o know_v not_o which_o way_n to_o turn_v us._n for_o god_n will_v give_v we_o sufficient_a light_n in_o his_o word_n to_o lead_v we_o to_o salvation_n and_o this_o be_v such_o a_o comfort_n as_o can_v be_v sufficient_o enough_o express_v for_o as_o it_o be_v declare_v that_o we_o be_v miscrable_a blind_a soul_n and_o that_o whilst_o we_o walk_v in_o this_o world_n we_o be_v but_o in_o darkness_n see_v how_o god_n put_v a_o remedy_n into_o our_o hand_n that_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v hear_v he_o speak_v and_o that_o we_o shall_v learn_v to_o be_v order_v by_o his_o word_n &_o that_o then_o although_o this_o same_o world_n be_v a_o maze_n although_o we_o have_v many_o trouble_n in_o our_o life_n although_o the_o devil_n never_o cease_v craste_o to_o invent_v many_o deceit_n to_o turn_v we_o from_o the_o right_a way_n yet_o we_o shall_v be_v assure_v to_o go_v straight_o &_o to_o attain_v unto_o salvation_n and_o by_o this_o we_o may_v see_v how_o satan_n have_v possess_v the_o papist_n when_o as_o they_o say_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v so_o dark_a that_o we_o be_v never_o able_a once_o to_o bite_v at_o it_o and_o that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o stay_v ourselves_o thereon_o because_o it_o be_v so_o uncertain_a a_o thing_n &_o beside_o that_o it_o be_v also_o a_o nose_n of_o wax_n which_o a_o man_n may_v turn_v what_o way_n he_o list_v they_o shame_v not_o to_o spew_v out_o such_o horrible_a blasphemy_n but_o contrariwise_o let_v we_o trust_v unto_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n speak_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o david_n to_o wit_n that_o if_o we_o be_v lighten_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o need_v not_o to_o fear_v fall_v &_o that_o there_o be_v no_o rule_n so_o certain_a for_o although_o the_o devil_n go_v about_o with_o a_o thousand_o deceit_n to_o turn_v we_o this_o way_n and_o that_o by_o crooked_a bypathe_n yet_o must_v we_o be_v full_o assure_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v a_o lantern_n unto_o our_o foot_n to_o lead_v we_o the_o right_a way_n nevertheless_o david_n show_v unto_o we_o how_o we_o shonlde_v seel_v such_o a_o commodity_n come_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o law_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v receive_v it_o with_o hearty_a affection_n for_o he_o say_v i_o have_v swear_v and_o will_v perform_v it_o that_o i_o will_v keep_v thy_o righteous_a judgement_n now_o here_o he_o show_v that_o if_o there_o be_v a_o waver_a mind_a spirit_n which_o read_v the_o scripture_n for_o curiosity_n sake_n the_o same_o must_v needs_o remain_v and_o continue_v always_o blind_a and_o ignorant_a as_o we_o shall_v see_v many_o of_o they_o which_o do_v nothing_o else_o but_o turn_n over_o the_o leaf_n and_o wander_v in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o there_o be_v neither_o firmness_n nor_o yet_o soundness_n in_o any_o of_o they_o and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n thereof_o for_o soothe_v it_o be_v because_o they_o seek_v not_o god_n with_o a_o right_n &_o earnest_a affection_n if_o we_o then_o will_v have_v the_o commodity_n which_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o we_o must_v come_v back_o again_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o apply_v all_o our_o study_n so_o courageous_o as_o that_o we_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o too_o be_v instruct_v in_o this_o truth_n and_o to_o submit_v ourselves_o whole_o unto_o it_o and_o yet_o david_n be_v not_o content_v to_o say_v that_o this_o be_v his_o only_a determination_n but_o say_v that_o he_o have_v swear_v and_o be_v steadfast_o purpose_v to_o observe_v it_o for_o the_o word_n which_o he_o use_v signify_v that_o i_o will_v establish_v it_o to_o wit_n i_o will_v whole_o give_v myself_o unto_o it_o for_o i_o be_o so_o resolute_a in_o this_o matter_n as_o that_o i_o will_v never_o be_v turn_v away_o from_o it_o whereby_o he_o show_v that_o there_o be_v no_o question_n but_o that_o we_o have_v certain_a small_a motion_n which_o slip_v we_o but_o we_o must_v have_v such_o a_o fervent_a zeal_n as_o possess_v our_o whole_a mind_n and_o after_o we_o must_v with_o this_o zeal_n be_v constant_a because_o than_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a right_o to_o see_v those_o man_n which_o so_o trim_o and_o fair_o pus_fw-la and_o blow_v at_o us._n but_o what_o this_o be_v but_o a_o false_a fire_n as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o we_o be_v true_o affect_v to_o serve_v god_n the_o same_o our_o affection_n must_v be_v firm_a and_o sure_a that_o we_o may_v unfaigned_o say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o have_v swear_v and_o be_v full_o purpose_v too_o stand_v and_o abide_v by_o this_o matter_n in_o very_a deed_n here_o may_v some_o question_n arise_v for_o it_o shall_v seem_v that_o david_n have_v too_o too_o much_o presume_v of_o himself_o to_o swear_v that_o he_o will_v keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n for_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o promise_v any_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n and_o strength_n if_o a_o man_n shall_v thrust_v in_o himself_o to_o promise_v that_o which_o he_o have_v not_o he_o of_o right_n be_v to_o be_v accuse_v of_o folly_n for_o every_o man_n will_v say_v that_o it_o be_v great_a arrogancy_n in_o he_o because_o he_o have_v pass_v his_o bound_n now_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v thorough_o consider_v hereof_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o any_o mortal_a man_n perfect_o to_o observe_v the_o proper_a strength_n they_o look_v not_o into_o their_o own_o ability_n but_o they_o desire_v of_o god_n to_o accomplish_v that_o which_o they_o have_v promise_v he_o and_o why_o do_v they_o so_o now_o let_v we_o note_v that_o here_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o we_o have_v here_o already_o declare_v that_o when_o david_n name_v the_o law_n he_o look_v not_o simple_o too_o our_o mind_n when_o we_o shall_v say_v thus_o i_o speak_v now_o of_o those_o which_o be_v not_o yet_o thorough_o instruct_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n neither_o yet_o let_v we_o think_v this_o too_o be_v a_o common_a &_o ordinary_a thing_n when_o as_o david_n say_v that_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n be_v nothing_o but_o true_a &_o righteous_a for_o although_o we_o have_v learn_v somewhat_o out_o of_o they_o yet_o be_v not_o this_o enough_o until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v conform_v &_o frame_v unto_o they_o that_o we_o full_o &_o whole_o agree_v with_o this_o say_n &_o commendation_n which_o be_v here_o give_v to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n now_o because_o david_n will_v show_v with_o what_o affection_n he_o be_v move_v he_o protest_v that_o he_o be_v not_o only_o more_o now_o he_o namely_o speak_v of_o his_o enemy_n and_o of_o such_o as_o have_v affile_v he_o but_o he_o signify_v anon_o after_o that_o all_o the_o mischief_n and_o injury_n which_o they_o have_v do_v unto_o he_o do_v not_o half_a so_o mighty_o grieve_v he_o as_o the_o contempt_n which_o he_o kriewe_v to_o be_v in_o they_o touch_v the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o he_o say_v my_o zeal_n have_v say_v a_o most_o sure_a testimony_n that_o he_o high_o prefer_v the_o word_n of_o god_n before_o his_o own_o person_n that_o he_o have_v not_o that_o pleasure_n in_o his_o life_n nor_o in_o whatsoever_o concern_v the_o same_o as_o he_o have_v in_o the_o reverence_n which_o all_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n ought_v to_o have_v towards_o his_o majesty_n now_o if_o he_o have_v not_o have_v this_o zeal_n he_o can_v never_o have_v be_v thus_o grieve_v and_o vex_v when_o as_o man_n make_v no_o reckon_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o cast_v it_o behind_o their_o back_n and_o here_o we_o of_o god_n when_o as_o they_o shall_v be_v carry_v away_o with_o their_o wicked_a affection_n as_o thus_o when_o a_o man_n be_v great_o give_v to_o lechery_n this_o villainous_a desire_n so_o blind_v he_o as_o that_o he_o clere_o forget_v whatsoever_o he_o have_v hear_v speak_v against_o it_o never_o so_o little_o before_o to_o wit_n they_o which_o defile_v their_o body_n with_o lechery_n do_v deface_v as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lie_v the_o image_n of_o god_n pollute_v his_o temple_n divide_v and_o pull_v in_o piece_n the_o body_n of_o jesus_n christ_n shut_v themselves_o quite_o out_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o provoke_v the_o heavy_a wrath_n and_o curse_n of_o god_n against_o they_o and_o yet_o a_o whoremaster_n forget_v all_o these_o notable_a say_n which_o be_v set_v down_o too_o keep_v he_o within_o his_o rein_n the_o covetous_a man_n also_o forget_v what_o equity_n and_o right_n be_v let_v he_o be_v admonish_v thereof_o never_o so_o often_o as_o to_o be_v pitiful_a to_o his_o neighbour_n to_o help_v the_o poor_a and_o needy_a rather_o than_o to_o take_v away_o a_o other_o man_n good_n and_o substance_n and_o to_o be_v so_o give_v to_o our_o own_o gain_n to_o procure_v and_o profit_v the_o welfare_n of_o our_o neighbour_n rather_o than_o to_o be_v give_v too_o seek_v our_o own_o private_a commodity_n a_o covetous_a man_n i_o say_v will_v quite_o forget_v all_o this_o and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o because_o he_o be_v blind_v with_o this_o covetous_a desire_n of_o gain_n and_o too_o heap_v up_o together_o the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n see_v then_o when_o it_o be_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v forget_v very_o even_o then_o when_o as_o man_n shall_v be_v drunken_a with_o their_o inordinate_a greedy_a passion_n but_o they_o which_o set_v themselves_o against_o god_n yea_o with_o a_o fury_n &_o frenzy_n utter_o to_o abrogate_v his_o word_n too_o turn_v his_o truth_n into_o leasing_n these_o man_n i_o say_v do_v not_o only_o forget_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o remember_v themselves_o of_o it_o too_o too_o much_o even_o to_o set_v themselves_o purposely_o against_o it_o and_o we_o need_v to_o go_v no_o further_o but_o even_o into_o the_o state_n of_o popery_n to_o see_v such_o a_o villainous_a and_o detestable_a impiety_n for_o we_o shall_v see_v these_o contemner_n of_o god_n which_o be_v even_o here_o among_o we_o yea_o and_o which_o come_v sometime_o to_o defile_v the_o temple_n of_o god_n to_o thrust_v in_o their_o swinish_a groyne_n and_o to_o scorn_v the_o doctrine_n which_o shall_v be_v read_v which_o make_v even_o the_o very_a devil_n in_o hell_n too_o tremble_v we_o shall_v see_v then_o here_o
afflict_v we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v grievous_o vex_v until_o we_o can_v no_o more_o loe_o here_o a_o good_a trial_n to_o make_v we_o feel_v that_o we_o have_v willing_o and_o in_o earnest_n honour_v god_n that_o sorrow_n overcome_v he_o not_o now_o if_o david_n as_o before_o we_o have_v declare_v take_v such_o pleasure_n in_o the_o law_n whereas_o god_n only_o show_v himself_o to_o the_o ancient_a father_n as_o it_o be_v in_o shadow_n i_o beseech_v you_o how_o ought_v the_o word_n of_o god_n at_o this_o day_n to_o glad_v we_o where_o as_o he_o show_v himself_o so_o familiar_a a_o father_n towards_o we_o even_o open_v unto_o we_o the_o very_a bottom_n of_o his_o heart_n hide_v nothing_o from_o we_o when_o they_o our_o lord_n god_n pour_v out_o the_o treasure_n of_o his_o it_o we_o shall_v find_v he_o to_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o draw_v we_o unto_o he_o declare_v that_o he_o will_v help_v the_o afflict_a have_v pity_n of_o the_o miserable_a and_o vex_v god_n and_o after_o in_o the_o turn_n of_o a_o hand_n to_o go_v clean_o backward_o as_o at_o this_o day_n we_o shall_v have_v they_o which_o will_v make_v a_o show_n of_o great_a devotion_n and_o say_v o_o what_o a_o excellent_a sermon_n o_o what_o notable_a doctrine_n be_v teach_v this_o day_n but_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o will_v they_o say_v the_o next_o day_n forsooth_o they_o will_v not_o for_o all_o this_o stick_n too_o mock_v god_n make_v one_o jest_n or_o other_o at_o his_o word_n or_o else_o if_o god_n send_v they_o any_o adversity_n they_o will_v be_v grieve_v and_o angry_a mean_v to_o show_v that_o we_o must_v not_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o at_o sometime_o to_o commend_v the_o word_n of_o god_n say_v that_o it_o be_v a_o everlasting_a righteousness_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o man_n be_v changeable_a and_o this_o present_a life_n also_o be_v subject_a to_o very_o many_o change_n as_o to_o day_n we_o shall_v have_v some_o grief_n or_o other_o and_o to_o morrow_n be_v well_o again_o oftentimes_o many_o trouble_n shall_v come_v unto_o we_o and_o we_o shall_v see_v they_o at_o last_o too_o have_v a_o end_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o these_o continual_a change_n man_n must_v not_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n be_v carry_v away_o with_o every_o
blast_n of_o wound_n to_o be_v inconstant_a and_o unsteadfast_a but_o while_o they_o be_v sail_v through_o the_o wave_n of_o the_o sea_n they_o must_v hold_v themselves_o firm_a and_o sure_a in_o this_o righteousness_n and_o sincerity_n which_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n see_v then_o how_o i_o must_v know_v the_o everlasting_a stableness_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n and_o in_o deed_n we_o shall_v have_v thereof_o a_o full_a feel_n and_o declaration_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v receive_v it_o as_o we_o ought_v but_o for_o so_o much_o as_o we_o fail_v herein_o and_o that_o we_o have_v not_o as_o of_o ourselves_o the_o spirit_n to_o comprehend_v this_o righteousness_n whereof_o in_o this_o place_n mention_n be_v make_v ne_o yet_o to_o attain_v thereto_o yea_o and_o if_o that_o we_o shall_v attain_v thereto_o so_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o lead_v we_o to_o iniquity_n yet_o let_v we_o pray_v with_o david_n that_o it_o every_o of_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a now_o in_o the_o first_o place_n he_o say_v i_o have_v cry_v out_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n wherety_n he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o babble_a not_o paradise_n he_o speak_v of_o this_o true_a prosperity_n which_o the_o child_n of_o god_n have_v when_o they_o be_v content_v to_o serve_v he_o that_o in_o all_o their_o grief_n yea_o in_o all_o their_o anguish_n and_o trouble_n they_o run_v only_o untoo_o he_o and_o lay_v all_o their_o care_n upon_o he_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v help_v they_o and_o afterward_o hereupon_o not_o before_o thou_o and_o deliver_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n my_o lip_n shall_v speak_v of_o thy_o praise_n when_o thou_o have_v haste_v teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n my_o tongue_n shall_v treat_v of_o thy_o word_n for_o all_o thy_o commandment_n be_v righteous_a let_v thy_o hand_n help_v i_o for_o i_o have_v choose_v thy_o commandment_n i_o have_v long_v for_o thy_o save_a health_n o_o lord_n and_o in_o thy_o law_n be_v my_o delight_n let_v my_o soul_n live_v and_o it_o shall_v praise_v thou_o and_o thy_o judgement_n shall_v help_v i_o i_o have_v go_v astray_o like_o a_o sheep_n that_o be_v lose_v seek_v thy_o servant_n for_o i_o do_v not_o forget_v thy_o commandment_n these_o eight_o last_o verse_n which_o arch_n knit_v up_o of_o the_o whole_a psalm_n do_v show_v unto_o we_o that_o which_o we_o oftentimes_o have_v before_o see_v to_o wit_n that_o david_n his_o chief_a desire_n be_v this_o to_o be_v due_o and_o true_o instruct_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therein_o to_o be_v confirm_v for_o he_o take_v such_o pleasure_n in_o it_o as_o that_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v little_a or_o nothing_o worth_a unto_o he_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o same_o now_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o he_o have_v already_o sufficient_o speak_v of_o this_o matter_n and_o yet_o that_o which_o he_o present_o add_v be_v not_o supperfluous_a especial_o if_o we_o consider_v in_o what_o sort_n our_o carnal_a desire_n rule_v us._n for_o that_o be_v it_o which_o let_v we_o that_o we_o can_v not_o only_o have_v that_o fervency_n which_o david_n have_v to_o seek_v thorough_o to_o profit_v in_o the_o school_n of_o god_n but_o we_o scarce_o have_v so_o much_o as_o any_o small_a desire_n and_o therefore_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o be_v too_o too_o much_o nuzzele_v in_o our_o earthly_a affection_n wherefore_o this_o be_v a_o lesson_n which_o ought_v many_o time_n too_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n that_o if_o we_o will_v pray_v unto_o god_n according_a unto_o his_o will_n we_o must_v not_o come_v unto_o he_o with_o a_o desire_n of_o our_o own_o to_o say_v whatsoever_o come_v in_o our_o brain_n yea_o and_o to_o leave_v out_o the_o most_o principal_a part_n but_o we_o must_v begin_v with_o this_o say_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o will_v please_v god_n so_o to_o instruct_v we_o as_o that_o our_o life_n may_v be_v square_v according_a to_o his_o law_n and_o we_o to_o cleave_v so_o unto_o it_o as_o not_o to_o come_v with_o a_o double_a and_o twyfold_o heart_n although_o we_o be_v to_o strive_v against_o the_o world_n and_o our_o own_o nature_n yet_o must_v we_o remain_v constant_a in_o this_o chief_o to_o love_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n here_o say_v let_v my_o complaint_n come_v before_o thou_o o_o lord_n and_o give_v i_o understanding_n according_a unto_o thy_o word_n when_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o complaint_n which_o he_o make_v unto_o the_o lord_n he_o show_v that_o he_o make_v no_o cold_a prayer_n unto_o god_n as_o we_o many_o time_n and_o as_o it_o be_v daily_o do_v but_o with_o great_a vehemency_n i_o can_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o a_o hypocrite_n may_v very_o well_o make_v complaint_n with_o a_o loud_a noise_n and_o thrust_v out_o his_o weasaunt_n but_o david_n have_v here_o consideration_n of_o god_n mean_v not_o to_o make_v a_o outward_a show_n before_o man_n wherefore_o that_o he_o cry_v out_o aloud_o import_v as_o much_o as_o a_o earnest_a testimony_n wherewith_o he_o be_v prick_v forward_o now_o by_o this_o we_o see_v that_o he_o chief_o desire_v that_o which_o he_o crave_v to_o wit_n to_o have_v god_n to_o instruct_v he_o and_o to_o give_v he_o understanding_n and_o in_o desire_v this_o gift_n of_o god_n he_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v of_o himself_o a_o very_a wretched_a blind_a soul_n that_o he_o never_o understand_v any_o thing_n yea_o although_o he_o have_v the_o law_n in_o his_o hand_n which_o he_o may_v read_v wherein_o be_v contain_v a_o true_a perfection_n of_o all_o wisdom_n yet_o that_o he_o still_o continue_v even_o like_o a_o poor_a miserable_a blind_a wretch_n except_o god_n enlighten_v he_o so_o then_o let_v we_o understande_v that_o this_o be_v a_o especial_a gift_n which_o god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o when_o he_o open_v our_o eye_n too_o make_v we_o understande_v that_o which_o be_v show_v in_o his_o word_n whether_o we_o read_v it_o or_o that_o it_o be_v preach_v unto_o us._n yea_o and_o let_v we_o not_o here_o make_v any_o exception_n think_v ourselves_o to_o be_v more_o sharp_a witted_a or_o able_a than_o david_n be_v but_o let_v we_o rather_o know_v that_o if_o he_o need_v to_o beseech_v god_n to_o give_v he_o understanding_n that_o we_o for_o our_o part_n have_v as_o great_a need_n so_o then_o it_o can_v not_o be_v choose_v but_o that_o when_o god_n have_v deliver_v unto_o we_o his_o word_n and_o declare_v his_o will_n therein_o contain_v and_o for_o performance_n hereof_o inlighten_v our_o heart_n by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n for_o other_o way_n we_o shall_v have_v our_o care_n beat_v in_o vain_a and_o then_o the_o doctrine_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v will_v do_v we_o no_o good_a now_o that_o which_o follow_v according_a unto_o thy_o word_n may_v two_o way_n beset_v forth_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o thou_o will_v make_v i_o wise_a and_o after_o what_o manner_n that_o i_o be_v altogether_o rule_v by_o thou_o and_o do_v that_o which_o thou_o command_v this_o be_v a_o very_a true_a say_n for_o by_o this_o we_o be_v admonish_v to_o hear_v god_n speak_v and_o we_o again_o must_v suffer_v he_o to_o have_v dominion_n over_o we_o and_o not_o to_o be_v overtake_v with_o this_o fooolish_a arrogancy_n and_o say_v i_o have_v knowledge_n enough_o i_o need_v not_o so_o much_o teach_v wherefore_o when_o as_o god_n shall_v have_v speak_v the_o word_n let_v we_o pass_v it_o simple_o and_o without_o gainsay_v this_o sentence_n then_o which_o i_o have_v speak_v be_v very_o true_a but_o yet_o it_o agree_v not_o with_o the_o meaning_n of_o david_n he_o yet_o with_o the_o plamenesse_n of_o the_o text_n for_o he_o crave_v here_o two_o thing_n the_o one_o in_o the_o first_o verse_n the_o other_o in_o the_o second_o he_o say_v in_o the_o first_o verse_n let_v my_o complaint_n come_v before_o thou_o that_o i_o may_v be_v instruct_v according_a unto_o thy_o word_n and_o afterward_o he_o add_v 〈◊〉_d my_o supplication_n come_v be_v before_o thou_o and_o deliver_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o he_o use_v two_o sentence_n but_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o without_o a_o marvelous_a grace_n in_o oneself_o same_o signification_n and_o by_o this_o repetition_n we_o
word_n of_o god_n let_v he_o show_v it_o yea_o in_o glorify_v his_o name_n all_o the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n they_o then_o which_o be_v so_o cold_a in_o praise_v of_o god_n do_v right_o well_o show_v that_o they_o never_o feel_v what_o the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n be_v and_o thy_o so_o because_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o we_o to_o have_v any_o taste_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o receive_v thereby_o any_o instruction_n but_o that_o we_o must_v needs_o be_v move_v and_o ravish_v therewith_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o his_o glorious_a name_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v then_o that_o shall_v show_v himself_o negligent_a herein_o sufficient_o enough_o declare_v that_o he_o know_v not_o what_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v albeit_o he_o protest_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o christian_n let_v we_o now_o come_v to_o those_o which_o be_v not_o only_o dumb_a themselves_o but_o that_o which_o be_v also_o worse_o which_o will_v shut_v up_o the_o mouth_n of_o other_o to_o the_o end_n it_o may_v not_o be_v lawful_a for_o they_o too_o praise_v god_n and_o yet_o forsooth_o these_o man_n be_v so_o shameless_a as_o that_o they_o will_v notwithstanding_o be_v take_v for_o good_a christian_n but_o by_o these_o mean_v they_o declare_v themselves_o too_o be_v the_o deadly_a enemy_n of_o god_n yea_o worse_o than_o the_o very_a deville_n and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o they_o think_v it_o not_o enough_o that_o they_o have_v nothing_o profit_v in_o the_o school_n of_o god_n neither_o yet_o be_v they_o content_v to_o show_v the_o way_n to_o do_v well_o unto_o other_o but_o they_o will_v have_v all_o the_o world_n to_o be_v like_a unto_o themselves_o that_o there_o shall_v never_o mention_v be_v make_v of_o praise_v god_n &_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v this_o word_n christian_n shall_v stand_v they_o in_o never_o a_o penny_n now_o without_o all_o doubt_n god_n disalow_v of_o all_o those_o which_o will_v not_o give_v themselves_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o his_o majesty_n and_o that_o will_v not_o stir_v up_o their_o neigh_n bour_v to_o do_v the_o like_a that_o they_o may_v show_v themselves_o to_o have_v study_v his_o word_n but_o let_v we_o be_v well_o assure_v that_o it_o be_v notinough_o too_o open_a our_o mouth_n and_o to_o sing_v praise_n unto_o he_o with_o the_o tongue_n but_o it_o must_v also_o come_v from_o a_o well_o affect_a heart_n for_o david_n tell_v we_o nothere_o that_o he_o will_v solemnize_v the_o praise_n of_o god_n but_o in_o address_v himself_o unto_o god_n he_o protest_v before_o he_o that_o he_o will_v sing_v praise_n unto_o he_o and_o in_o speak_v this_o he_o right_o well_o know_v that_o his_o heart_n must_v needs_o be_v dispose_v thereto_o wherefore_o when_o as_o we_o will_v magnify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n as_o appertain_v let_v we_o not_o deliver_v it_o out_o with_o the_o mouth_n only_o but_o our_o heart_n also_o must_v be_v set_v thereto_o and_o that_o it_o agree_v therewith_o to_o make_v a_o sweet_a harmony_n if_o this_o be_v so_o all_o our_o life_n by_o little_a and_o little_o shall_v be_v answerable_a thereto_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o untruthe_n which_o we_o have_v pronounce_v with_o our_o mouth_n now_o he_o add_v a_o sentence_n which_o be_v very_o short_a to_o wit_n my_o tongue_n shall_v treat_v of_o thy_o word_n and_o why_o because_o all_o thy_o commandment_n say_v he_o be_v righteous_a in_o this_o verse_n he_o show_v that_o after_o he_o have_v be_v well_o instruct_v that_o he_o himself_o will_v also_o travel_v to_o bring_v other_o by_o little_a and_o little_a to_o the_o like_a knowledge_n loe_o here_o his_o full_a pretence_n but_o yet_o the_o better_a to_o express_v his_o affection_n that_o he_o have_v too_o draw_v on_o his_o brethren_n and_o neighbour_n to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o truth_n he_o use_v this_o word_n to_o sing_v not_o content_v himself_o to_o speak_v after_o a_o plain_a manner_n but_o express_v that_o he_o will_v sing_v aloud_o and_o clear_v that_o he_o will_v make_v his_o word_n to_o resound_v that_o it_o may_v be_v hear_v yea_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o thing_n as_o notorious_o know_v as_o the_o very_a common_a song_n now_o since_o it_o be_v so_o that_o david_n speak_v after_o this_o sort_n let_v we_o now_o see_v what_o our_o duty_n be_v for_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v heretofore_o he_o brag_v not_o of_o his_o own_o power_n but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v set_v he_o before_o we_o in_o stead_n of_o a_o glass_n to_o send_v it_o may_v serve_v we_o for_o our_o better_a instruction_n now_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o truth_n of_o our_o good_a god_n what_o be_v there_o they_o for_o we_o to_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v not_o hold_v fast_o this_o treasure_n as_o it_o be_v lock_v up_o in_o a_o cheste_n but_o communicate_v his_o grace_n unto_o other_o yea_o and_o do_v the_o best_a we_o can_v to_o draw_v on_o the_o miserable_a ignorant_a people_n too_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o too_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o the_o doctrine_n to_o publish_v it_o to_o all_o man_n when_o as_o it_o be_v commit_v unto_o we_o as_o a_o treasure_n and_o to_o bestow_v the_o gift_n which_o we_o have_v receive_v upon_o our_o neighbour_n according_a to_o that_o measure_n of_o faith_n which_o god_n have_v give_v us._n howbeit_o this_o order_n be_v far_o of_o from_o we_o for_o if_o there_o be_v but_o three_o word_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n speak_v we_o will_v soon_o be_v weary_a of_o it_o may_v we_o shall_v not_o hear_v it_o speak_v of_o at_o this_o day_n it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o it_o be_v talk_v of_o both_o at_o the_o table_n in_o the_o way_n and_o every_o where_o as_o that_o we_o can_v hardly_o abide_v that_o even_o for_o fashion_n sake_n the_o preach_n of_o it_o be_v keep_v and_o although_o it_o be_v here_o lawful_a too_o speak_v in_o the_o pulpit_n one_o hour_n in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n yet_o shall_v you_o have_v a_o great_a number_n of_o dog_n which_o will_v not_o stick_v even_o to_o gyrne_v at_o it_o as_o if_o god_n be_v too_o too_o much_o privilege_v it_o be_v very_o far_o of_o to_o have_v every_o man_n to_o apply_v himself_o to_o sing_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o his_o whole_a word_n and_o for_o we_o to_o have_v our_o ear_n beat_v with_o it_o now_o whence_o come_v this_o unthankfulness_n very_o because_o we_o never_o taste_v of_o that_o which_o david_n here_o add_v all_o thy_o statute_n say_v he_o be_v righteous_a if_o we_o do_v thorough_o know_v what_o equity_n and_o pureness_n there_o be_v in_o the_o statute_n of_o god_n without_o doubt_n we_o shall_v be_v more_o earnest_n to_o learn_v hold_v and_o show_v they_o unto_o other_o than_o heretofore_o we_o have_v be_v so_o then_o all_z they_o which_o make_v no_o account_n too_o instruct_v their_o neighbour_n and_o do_v not_o esteem_v of_o the_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v do_v hereby_o show_v that_o they_o will_v not_o render_v the_o righteousness_n to_o god_n as_o to_o he_o appertame_v according_o as_o it_o be_v contain_v in_o his_o word_n and_o as_o he_o himself_o show_v it_o therein_o now_o david_n by_o and_o by_o add_v let_v thy_o hand_n help_v i_o for_o i_o have_v choose_v thy_o commandment_n he_o yet_o return_v too_o that_o which_o before_o he_o have_v say_v of_o deliverance_n for_o after_o he_o have_v require_v to_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n he_o say_v o_o deliver_v i_o yea_o he_o right_a well_o know_v that_o if_o he_o have_v not_o he_o for_o his_o protector_n that_o he_o shall_v always_o remain_v as_o it_o be_v in_o death_n now_o he_o add_v let_v thy_o hand_n help_v i_o and_o why_o so_o for_o i_o have_v choose_v say_v he_o thy_o commandment_n when_o he_o desire_v god_n too_o help_v he_o with_o his_o hand_n he_o confess_v his_o want_n and_o that_o he_o be_v as_o a_o man_n which_o need_v help_v even_o as_o though_o he_o have_v never_o have_v more_o need_n and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o in_o he_o to_o deliver_v himself_o neither_o can_v he_o find_v it_o in_o any_o of_o his_o creature_n and_o therefore_o except_o god_n have_v stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n see_v how_o david_n have_v be_v utter_o cast_v away_o now_o this_o confession_n here_o be_v very_o profitable_a for_o us._n for_o which_o of_o we_o be_v he_o that_o can_v be_v without_o affliction_n and_o that_o be_v able_a to_o say_v i_o have_v all_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a it_o be_v most_o true_a that_o we_o be_v more_o careful_a for_o that_o which_o concern_v our_o body_n and_o this_o present_a life_n then_o for_o that_o which_o be_v require_v for_o the_o salvation_n of_o our_o soul_n
