weighty_a yet_o be_v abraham_n through_o the_o constancy_n of_o his_o faith_n and_o obedience_n so_o naturalize_v to_o the_o service_n of_o god_n that_o nothing_o can_v divert_v he_o from_o it_o but_o be_v plain_a he_o do_v not_o if_o nothing_o less_o than_o irresistible_a grace_n can_v have_v bring_v they_o to_o repentance_n now_o this_o consideration_n that_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n be_v miserable_a as_o they_o please_v so_o that_o if_o man_n will_v not_o take_v any_o pain_n with_o themselves_o to_o understand_v their_o everlasting_a interest_n and_o to_o stoop_v their_o mind_n to_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o wait_v to_o see_v what_o god_n will_v do_v with_o they_o they_o will_v find_v that_o he_o will_v not_o drive_v they_o into_o heaven_n against_o their_o wi_n it_o against_o impenitent_a sinner_n i_o know_v we_o be_v apt_a to_o fancy_n that_o the_o hearer_n of_o christ_n doctrine_n and_o the_o spectator_n of_o his_o miracle_n stand_v in_o much_o better_a light_n to_o discern_v the_o divinity_n of_o they_o than_o we_o do_v at_o this_o day_n but_o wherein_o do_v the_o great_a difference_n lie_v they_o see_v christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n 3._o isa_n 53.2_o viz_o whether_o our_o saviour_n mean_v that_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o miracle_n upon_o tyre_n and_o sidon_n will_v have_v be_v the_o real_a conversion_n of_o those_o city_n or_o whether_o by_o their_o repent_v in_o sackcloth_n and_o ash_n we_o be_v to_o understand_v no_o more_o than_o a_o mere_a external_n or_o counterfeit_n repentance_n that_o the_o former_a of_o these_o be_v in_o several_a respect_n the_o more_o natural_a sense_n as_o will_v sufficient_o appear_v if_o we_o consider_v 1._o the_o scope_n and_o tenor_n of_o our_o saviour_n discourse_n in_o this_o place_n in_o heaven_n where_o we_o be_v sure_a it_o will_v be_v safe_a and_o will_v be_v always_o in_o a_o thrive_a and_o grow_v state_n and_o where_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o after_o a_o few_o day_n improve_v into_o a_o inheritance_n incorruptible_a and_o undefiled_a and_o that_o fade_v not_o away_o let_v we_o therefore_o have_v these_o mighty_a reason_n to_o quicken_v our_o spiritual_a growth_n aspire_v every_o day_n to_o exceed_v ourselves_o and_o to_o mend_v our_o progress_n in_o religion_n they_o that_o be_v but_o in_o a_o infant-state_n of_o grace_n have_v many_o stage_n and_o degree_n to_o pass_v through_o before_o they_o can_v arrive_v at_o any_o great_a perfection_n and_o so_o have_v reason_n to_o be_v press_v on_o lest_o time_n and_o death_n shall_v be_v too_o hasty_a for_o they_o and_o not_o allow_v they_o space_n to_o finish_v their_o course_n with_o joy_n and_o for_o those_o that_o be_v grow_v up_o to_o great_a strength_n and_o maturity_n as_o better_a fruit_n will_v be_v sanguine_a temper_n which_o be_v seldom_o reckon_v the_o best_a friend_n to_o a_o solid_a judgement_n the_o latter_a for_o the_o most_o part_n be_v of_o a_o melancholy_a constitution_n and_o while_o their_o understanding_n be_v cloud_v with_o that_o dark_a humour_n must_v needs_o stand_v but_o in_o a_o ill_a light_n to_o discern_v the_o truth_n but_o what_o ever_o their_o judgement_n be_v in_o other_o matter_n they_o seem_v to_o have_v clean_o forget_v the_o primary_n and_o most_o obvious_a meaning_n of_o what_o be_v say_v of_o old_a time_n thou_o shall_v not_o kill_v which_o precept_n be_v express_v in_o very_a few_o word_n will_v require_v the_o large_a explication_n and_o the_o rather_o because_o it_o be_v undoubted_o lawful_a insome_a case_n to_o kill_v and_o these_o must_v be_v know_v before_o we_o can_v certain_o determine_v wherein_o thenature_n of_o the_o heinous_a sin_n of_o murder_n consist_v which_o all_o man_n agree_v to_o be_v forbid_v in_o this_o law_n for_o these_o reason_n in_o speak_v to_o these_o word_n i_o shall_v show_v 1._o in_o what_o case_n it_o may_v be_v just_o suppose_v that_o kill_v be_v not_o forbid_v be_v this_o law_n 2._o what_o the_o sin_n of_o breach_n of_o this_o law_n he_o have_v his_o authority_n from_o god_n the_o spreme_a judge_n and_o sovereign_a lord_n of_o life_n and_o death_n he_o act_v as_o his_o minister_n by_o express_a commission_n from_o he_o and_o therefore_o be_v innocent_a of_o all_o the_o blood_n that_o be_v shed_v by_o the_o sword_n of_o justice_n and_o hence_o st._n paul_n call_v the_o magistrate_n a_o saviour_n never_o go_v about_o to_o tie_v the_o hand_n of_o sovereign_a prince_n or_o state_n from_o the_o use_n of_o this_o sharp_a and_o last_o remedy_n in_o a_o just_a and_o necessary_a cause_n
