which_o contend_v against_o paul_n but_o we_o defend_v preserve_v and_o pure_o teach_v the_o apostolic_a doctrine_n which_o paul_n propon_v in_o that_o council_n whereas_o our_o adversary_n defend_v these_o thing_n untrue_o against_o paul_n &_o so_o among_o other_o they_o use_v these_o word_n because_o we_o have_v hear_v that_o certain_a be_v come_v from_o we_o and_o have_v trouble_v you_o with_o their_o word_n to_o who_o we_o have_v give_v no_o commandment_n etc_n etc_n read_v the_o fifteen_o of_o the_o act_n and_o the_o second_o to_o the_o galatian_n the_o fiftienth_n question_n whether_o that_o paul_n do_v not_o speak_v his_o mind_n first_o in_o that_o council_n also_o whether_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v not_o there_o present_a wherefore_o if_o these_o be_v true_a why_o do_v they_o with_o their_o sect_n spoil_v the_o church_n of_o peter_n of_o her_o honour_n and_o how_o dare_v they_o call_v in_o doubt_n those_o thing_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n do_v inspire_v the_o answer_n now_o it_o may_v plain_o appear_v by_o this_o question_n to_o what_o end_n the_o former_a question_n be_v write_v by_o their_o
holy_a spirit_n whereas_o notwithstanding_o he_o accuse_v they_o of_o grievous_a error_n and_o vice_n and_o exhort_v they_o to_o repentance_n and_o amendment_n of_o their_o life_n whereby_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o even_o these_o most_o excellent_a church_n of_o the_o apostle_n have_v err_v but_o there_o be_v a_o other_o objection_n bring_v against_o we_o out_o of_o the_o ballad_n of_o solomon_n and_o out_o of_o the_o five_o chapter_n of_o s._n paul_n epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o church_n be_v beautiful_a and_o without_o spot_n or_o wrinkle_n which_o place_n s._n augustine_n interpret_v say_v that_o this_o purity_n and_o holiness_n be_v begin_v in_o this_o life_n but_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v when_o through_o death_n we_o shall_v put_v of_o this_o flesh_n it_o shall_v be_v full_o perfect_v so_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v neither_o spot_n nor_o blemish_n but_o be_v most_o perfect_o pure_a héereunto_o we_o add_v the_o word_n 15._o of_o christ_n who_o most_o plain_o expound_v this_o matter_n in_o the_o gospel_n say_v he_o that_o be_v wash_v need_v not_o save_v to_o wash_v his_o foot_n but_o be_v clean_o every_o whit_n and_o again_o through_o contempt_n but_o by_o reason_n of_o necessity_n be_v yet_o nevertheless_o knit_v unto_o christ_n and_o his_o member_n by_o true_a faith_n spirit_n love_n and_o newness_n of_o life_n exercise_v themselves_o in_o all_o godly_a study_n i_o have_v place_v the_o first_o order_n of_o sign_n as_o most_o chief_a and_o necessary_a whereby_o the_o church_n may_v be_v know_v yet_o not_o omit_v these_o godly_a sign_n or_o sacrament_n but_o now_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n bishop_n think_v and_o say_v that_o the_o true_a and_o lawful_a sign_n of_o christ_n church_n be_v the_o obey_v as_o shall_v manifest_o appear_v by_o the_o question_n follow_v and_o this_o question_n true_o be_v very_o absurd_a for_o it_o be_v alone_o as_o if_o it_o shall_v be_v demand_v whether_o any_o one_o city_n in_o a_o realm_n be_v the_o whole_a realm_n or_o no_o or_o whether_o that_o any_o one_o man_n in_o a_o multitude_n be_v the_o whole_a company_n or_o no_o or_o whether_o the_o hand_n or_o foot_n of_o some_o one_o body_n be_v the_o whole_a body_n or_o no_o for_o before_o i_o have_v already_o show_v that_o this_o word_n catholic_a signify_v universal_a and_o yet_o i_o be_o not_o ignorant_a also_o that_o it_o may_v be_v take_v for_o any_o faithful_a man_n but_o by_o these_o question_n they_o open_o show_v unto_o the_o world_n their_o foolishness_n or_o rather_o their_o other_o of_o the_o whole_a world_n for_o where_o so_o ever_o a_o bishop_n be_v whether_o it_o be_v the_o bishop_n of_o rome_n or_o of_o eugubium_n or_o of_o constantinople_n or_o of_o rhegium_n etc_n etc_n he_o be_v of_o like_a authority_n and_o like_o priesthood_n by_o the_o which_o word_n he_o teach_v that_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v no_o better_a than_o other_o church_n wheresoever_o they_o be_v in_o the_o whole_a woride_n and_o that_o the_o bishop_n thereof_o have_v no_o more_o power_n or_o superiority_n of_o priesthood_n than_o other_o bishop_n whether_o they_o be_v in_o small_a or_o in_o great_a city_n but_o if_o they_o demand_v of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n which_o now_o be_v in_o the_o sort_n and_o manner_n church_n as_o all_o man_n see_v under_o these_o bishop_n and_o as_o it_o have_v be_v also_o of_o late_a by_o the_o space_n of_o a_o few_o hundred_o year_n i_o answer_v that_o it_o altogether_o differ_v from_o the_o state_n of_o the_o ancient_a and_o apostolic_a church_n of_o rome_n and_o therefore_o may_v in_o no_o wise_n be_v acknowledge_v for_o the_o universal_a and_o catholic_a church_n whereof_o it_o boast_v for_o the_o sign_n of_o the_o true_a church_n
