to_o many_o skilful_a divine_n then_o to_o ourselves_o especial_o when_o as_o the_o general_a rule_n hold_v as_o well_o in_o that_o as_o in_o any_o other_o science_n that_o every_o skilful_a man_n be_v to_o be_v credit_v in_o his_o own_o art_n and_o faculty_n our_o reason_n be_v more_o corrupt_a in_o this_o then_o in_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v more_o cause_n that_o we_o shall_v believe_v other_o than_o ourselves_o therefore_o as_o in_o other_o matter_n when_o we_o be_v doubtful_a we_o confer_v with_o they_o that_o have_v more_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n and_o resurrection_n but_o for_o all_o this_o we_o be_v not_o to_o account_v he_o as_o a_o infidel_n but_o think_v thus_o with_o ourselves_o if_o such_o a_o man_n as_o he_o be_v subject_a unto_o so_o great_a doubt_n no_o marvel_n then_o if_o i_o in_o many_o particular_n find_v my_o faith_n to_o be_v so_o full_a of_o doubt_v and_o waver_v only_o let_v we_o in_o these_o doubt_n still_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o god_n will_v at_o one_o time_n or_o other_o bless_v some_o of_o they_o unto_o us._n as_o thomas_n here_o not_o believe_v that_o christ_n be_v rise_v though_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o appear_v much_o more_o that_o beside_o the_o former_a thing_n when_o the_o other_o apostle_n who_o he_o by_o long_a experience_n know_v to_o be_v very_o reverend_a and_o credible_a man_n tell_v he_o that_o they_o have_v see_v the_o lord_n and_o after_o what_o manner_n even_o with_o the_o print_n of_o the_o nail_n &_o of_o the_o spear_n in_o his_o body_n yet_o he_o so_o disinherit_v all_o of_o they_o that_o he_o will_v believe_v none_o of_o they_o oftentimes_o we_o believe_v mean_a man_n and_o of_o less_o credit_n in_o matter_n of_o great_a uncertentie_n and_o of_o small_a moment_n therefore_o not_o to_o believe_v so_o many_o and_o of_o so_o good_a credit_n and_o in_o a_o thing_n of_o great_a moment_n it_o be_v true_a also_o do_v plain_o show_v how_o deep_o unbelief_n be_v root_v in_o he_o especial_o if_o we_o consider_v how_o he_o further_o add_v that_o if_o there_o be_v never_o so_o many_o more_o of_o they_o let_v they_o be_v what_o they_o will_v be_v that_o shall_v show_v that_o though_o they_o do_v not_o utter_v it_o with_o their_o mouth_n yet_o they_o say_v it_o with_o their_o heart_n that_o let_v man_n say_v what_o they_o will_v because_o as_o they_o think_v they_o have_v some_o reason_n against_o it_o they_o will_v believe_v none_o but_o themselves_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o see_v this_o unbelief_n in_o ourselves_o in_o any_o measure_n that_o we_o have_v it_o and_o be_v sorry_a for_o it_o and_o strive_v against_o it_o and_o pray_v god_n to_o forgive_v we_o and_o help_v us._n and_o that_o we_o may_v this_o way_n be_v holpen_v let_v we_o not_o be_v too_o much_o addict_v to_o our_o reason_n &_o measure_v thing_n by_o it_o for_o our_o natural_a reason_n be_v corrupt_a it_o do_v not_o only_o not_o further_o we_o unto_o faith_n but_o do_v sometime_o hinder_v we_o from_o it_o not_o only_o because_o faith_n be_v of_o thing_n above_o reason_n but_o contrary_a unto_o it_o therefore_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o salvation_n we_o must_v be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v addict_v to_o our_o own_o will_n and_o reason_n as_o that_o we_o must_v utter_o deny_v it_o that_o we_o may_v believe_v as_o the_o apostle_n saint_n thomas_n shall_v have_v do_v here_o &_o have_v say_v though_o this_o that_o you_o tell_v i_o be_v a_o matter_n impossible_a in_o my_o understanding_n and_o reason_n and_o i_o can_v possible_o conceive_v how_o it_o shall_v be_v yet_o because_o so_o many_o of_o you_o be_v of_o conscience_n to_o speak_v the_o truth_n i_o believe_v it_o and_o thus_o do_v abraham_n concern_v the_o promise_n which_o god_n have_v make_v unto_o he_o 4.20_o â—om_n 4.20_o for_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o do_v not_o despise_v or_o reason_n against_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n through_o unbelief_n where_o these_o two_o be_v join_v together_o as_o subordinate_a &_o come_v help_v one_o the_o other_o namely_o reason_n and_o unbelief_n and_o not_o reason_n and_o faith_n so_o that_o if_o we_o harken_v to_o reason_n it_o will_v cause_v we_o to_o doubt_v rather_o than_o believe_v and_o the_o next_o way_n to_o believe_v be_v not_o to_o listen_v or_o give_v credit_n unto_o the_o dispute_n &_o doubt_v that_o reason_n will_v minister_v unto_o us._n for_o it_o be_v able_a to_o object_v many_o thing_n against_o that_o that_o we_o shall_v believe_v and_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v be_v christ_n disciple_n we_o must_v deny_v noâ—_n only_o all_o our_o sinful_a affection_n thaâ—_n may_v draw_v we_o from_o obey_v his_o doctrine_n but_o our_o reason_n especial_o which_o may_v dissuade_v from_o believe_v it_o that_o when_o our_o reason_n shall_v tell_v we_o one_o thing_n as_o that_o we_o may_v continue_v in_o our_o sin_n a_o while_n long_o we_o may_v repent_v at_o leisure_n and_o be_v save_v well_o enough_o and_o that_o the_o way_n therefore_o first_o of_o all_o let_v we_o pray_v to_o god_n to_o sanctify_v our_o reason_n and_o to_o inlighten_v it_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v be_v capable_a of_o the_o mystery_n of_o word_n of_o god_n 119.18_o psal_n 119.18_o as_o david_n do_v open_v my_o eye_n that_o i_o may_v see_v the_o wonder_n of_o thy_o law_n and_o second_o when_o we_o come_v to_o hear_v and_o read_v themselves_o and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n in_o the_o gospel_n have_v foretell_v and_o forewarn_v we_o of_o this_o when_o as_o he_o say_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o day_n of_o noah_n 17.26_o â—â—k_v
