some_o like_v to_o pharaoh_n that_o will_v have_v the_o full_a tale_n of_o brick_n but_o will_v not_o find_v the_o people_n straw_n these_o be_v the_o offence_n take_v by_o man_n reason_n these_o raise_v up_o the_o murmur_n these_o make_v some_o man_n leave_v the_o care_n of_o their_o salvation_n at_o six_o and_o seven_o if_o i_o be_o elect_v i_o shall_v be_v save_v if_o i_o be_o not_o elect_v free_a pardon_n without_o satisfaction_n of_o god_n justice_n ruin_n and_o raze_v the_o foundation_n of_o our_o christian_a faith_n as_o if_o man_n will_v not_o have_v christ_n to_o do_v too_o much_o for_o they_o be_v angry_a at_o he_o for_o his_o be_v their_o surety_n for_o his_o pay_v their_o debt_n and_o free_v they_o from_o prison_n and_o damnation_n which_o make_v i_o cry_v out_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v in_o 1_o cor._n 1._o 20._o where_o be_v the_o wise_a where_o be_v the_o scribe_n where_o be_v the_o disputer_n of_o this_o world_n let_v they_o take_v notice_n of_o it_o the_o great_a learned_a man_n that_o preach_v heathenism_n among_o we_o have_v not_o god_n make_v foolish_a the_o wisdom_n of_o this_o world_n how_o by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n and_o free_a grace_n and_o this_o i_o preach_v that_o we_o may_v listen_v and_o hold_v the_o truth_n that_o to_o other_o be_v offensive_a overlook_v all_o the_o scandal_n that_o may_v be_v find_v in_o the_o person_n and_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n serm._n 2_o notwithstanding_o i_o be_o not_o unsensible_a that_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n may_v be_v so_o preach_v or_o if_o you_o will_v so_o apprehend_v by_o you_o as_o it_o may_v be_v not_o only_o offensive_a to_o carnal_a reason_n but_o just_o offensive_a to_o faith_n and_o christianity_n itself_o and_o this_o be_v when_o the_o doctrine_n of_o free_a grace_n keep_v not_o the_o channel_n but_o run_v out_o on_o this_o side_n or_o that_o side_n without_o or_o beside_o its_o bound_n then_o indeed_o it_o be_v just_o offensive_a and_o scandalous_a and_o that_o may_v be_v in_o three_o regard_n first_o when_o it_o be_v make_v universal_a in_o extent_n for_o the_o freedom_n of_o this_o grace_n have_v no_o affinity_n with_o the_o universality_n and_o though_o many_o do_v conceive_v that_o they_o can_v preach_v it_o free_a except_o they_o do_v also_o preach_v it_o universal_a i_o shall_v after_o show_v that_o there_o be_v no_o kindred_n between_o they_o do_v not_o proper_o bring_v a_o man_n in_o to_o christ_n jesus_n or_o faith_n in_o he_o but_o drive_v he_o to_o the_o gospel-net_n to_o seek_v for_o refuge_n in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o this_o i_o speak_v as_o to_o the_o preparation_n of_o a_o man_n to_o conversion_n i_o have_v hew_v they_o by_o my_o prophet_n and_o slay_v they_o by_o the_o word_n of_o my_o mouth_n hos_n 6._o 5._o oh_o that_o we_o have_v these_o word_n of_o slaughter_n among_o we_o though_o i_o know_v and_o grant_v a_o man_n may_v be_v wrought_v upon_o by_o the_o law_n that_o never_o come_v home_o to_o conversion_n by_o the_o gospel_n now_o therefore_o i_o will_v open_v what_o go_v to_o this_o work_n of_o god_n draw_v or_o what_o there_o be_v require_v to_o this_o draw_v of_o god_n in_o a_o few_o thing_n first_o i_o will_v lay_v down_o for_o the_o open_n of_o this_o draw_n of_o god_n this_o point_n that_o you_o may_v know_v whether_o god_n have_v draw_v you_o yea_o or_o no_o man_n be_v not_o ordinary_o convert_v by_o sudden_a enthusiasm_n he_o know_v not_o when_o or_o how_o by_o sudden_a rapture_n but_o he_o be_v ordinary_o prepare_v and_o subdue_v by_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n the_o work_n of_o conversion_n in_o a_o knotty_a weyward_a soul_n wrought_v in_o a_o night_n that_o look_v like_o the_o mushroom_n of_o religion_n that_o grow_v up_o in_o our_o time_n of_o a_o sudden_a and_o have_v no_o appearance_n or_o knowledge_n of_o any_o work_n that_o may_v usher_v they_o that_o way_n and_o these_o preparation_n be_v often_o work_v of_o time_n such_o as_o the_o heal_n of_o a_o sore_n be_v it_o be_v a_o rare_a thing_n that_o a_o sore_a a_o inveterate_a sore_n shall_v be_v heal_v in_o a_o night_n or_o a_o hour_n to_o which_o purpose_n as_o the_o plain_a one_o of_o latent_fw-la effect_n of_o a_o secret_a life_n already_o begin_v which_o few_o man_n know_v the_o time_n of_o its_o come_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o time_n of_o conversion_n or_o drop_v in_o this_o spiritual_a life_n into_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o hard_a thing_n but_o if_o these_o initial_o be_v latent_fw-la effect_n of_o some_o seed_n sow_v than_o they_o will_v abide_v hold_v out_o and_o
