nature of them is changed and altered that they are no more a punishment of sinne but a medicine for the sinner According to that excellent speech of Dauid a Non poena sed remedium delinquentium Psal 94.12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest O Lord and teachest him in thy Law If the Lord do ioyne his teaching to his correction to cause a man wisely to make vse thereof it
