i_o go_v about_o to_o undervalue_n the_o scripture_n of_o truth_n or_o as_o though_o i_o have_v slight_a esteem_n of_o they_o for_o i_o do_v in_o reality_n own_o they_o and_o do_v acknowledge_v they_o to_o contain_v many_o true_a testimony_n of_o he_o who_o name_n be_v call_v the_o word_n of_o god_n who_o be_v the_o perfect_a way_n to_o the_o father_n and_o the_o alone_a guide_n that_o lead_v unto_o life_n eternal_a a_o leader_n and_o commander_n unto_o his_o people_n appoint_v of_o the_o father_n i_o say_v i_o own_o the_o scripture_n to_o contain_v many_o true_a testimony_n concern_v he_o and_o concern_v many_o other_o thing_n and_o that_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v believe_v etc._n etc._n but_o that_o they_o be_v therefore_o a_o perfect_a rule_n for_o all_o man_n to_o walk_v by_o and_o none_o other_o i_o can_v own_v for_o they_o no_o where_n testify_v of_o or_o concern_v themselves_o and_o if_o it_o be_v certain_o so_o that_o they_o be_v a_o perfect_a rule_n and_o no_o other_o as_o j._n n._n affirm_v than_o it_o must_v of_o necessity_n follow_v that_o they_o who_o have_v not_o the_o scripture_n be_v without_o a_o perfect_a rule_n and_o that_o before_o the_o scripture_n be_v write_v the_o ancient_n and_o worthy_n of_o god_n as_o abraham_n isaac_n jacob_n noah_n lot_n enoch_n etc._n etc._n have_v no_o perfect_a rule_n to_o walk_v by_o except_o he_o can_v prove_v that_o the_o rule_n by_o which_o they_o walk_v and_o by_o which_o abraham_n be_v to_o walk_v before_o god_n and_o be_v perfect_a be_v no_o more_o to_o be_v a_o rule_n after_o the_o scripture_n be_v write_v the_o which_o i_o no_o where_o find_v record_v in_o the_o scripture_n but_o contrariwise_o that_o same_o rule_n by_o which_o they_o walk_v bear_v witness_n unto_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o scripture_n offer_v by_o j._n n._n do_v not_o at_o all_o prove_v that_o they_o be_v a_o perfect_a rule_n except_o it_o can_v be_v prove_v that_o they_o contain_v all_o thing_n that_o christ_n command_v his_o apostle_n to_o preach_v and_o teach_v which_o in_o reason_n none_o can_v conclude_v for_o although_o the_o scripture_n be_v a_o part_n of_o what_o they_o preach_v and_o teach_v yet_o there_o be_v but_o very_o little_a of_o what_o they_o teach_v and_o preach_v declare_v in_o they_o nor_o indeed_o little_a at_o all_o of_o the_o preach_n and_o teach_n of_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o apostle_n

and_o whereas_o he_o say_v let_v we_o labour_n with_o god_n for_o his_o bless_a spirit_n to_o guide_v we_o in_o all_o truth_n he_o therein_o seem_v to_o own_o truth_n to_o be_v a_o mystery_n within_o also_o for_o if_o the_o spirit_n be_v to_o be_v receive_v it_o must_v be_v within_o and_o the_o spirit_n be_v truth_n because_o as_o j._n n._n elsewhere_o confess_v it_o be_v of_o the_o same_o be_v nature_n power_n and_o tendency_n with_o god_n who_o be_v truth_n and_o with_o christ_n who_o be_v the_o truth_n and_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o unction_n which_o be_v receive_v from_o the_o holy_a one_o which_o be_v true_a and_o not_o a_o lie_n so_o here_o he_o seem_v to_o own_o truth_n a_o mystery_n within_o the_o spirit_n be_v mystery_n which_o before_o he_o say_v be_v contrary_a to_o truth_n be_v intent_n and_o thus_o his_o confusion_n appear_v from_o time_n to_o time_n and_o moreover_o if_o in_o such_o a_o dangerous_a time_n as_o he_o suppose_v this_o to_o be_v the_o spirit_n be_v the_o only_a thing_n to_o be_v labour_v for_o as_o a_o guide_n to_o lead_v in_o all_o truth_n wherefore_o then_o do_v he_o so_o much_o cry_v against_o the_o quaker_n who_o principle_n it_o be_v and_o also_o their_o practice_n to_o labour_v with_o people_n to_o wait_v for_o the_o spirit_n be_v operation_n that_o by_o it_o as_o the_o most_o certain_a guide_n they_o may_v be_v lead_v into_o all_o truth_n have_v he_o not_o also_o oppose_v himself_o hereby_o who_o not_o long_o before_o assert_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o only_a rule_n which_o do_v but_o testify_v of_o the_o spirit_n which_o now_o he_o will_v have_v people_n labour_n for_o as_o a_o guide_n in_o all_o truth_n which_o indeed_o be_v the_o only_a guide_n without_o which_o the_o scripture_n can_v be_v know_v because_o they_o be_v thing_n of_o god_n and_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n know_v no_o man_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o he_o to_o who_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n reveal_v they_o and_o he_o say_v let_v we_o not_o be_v hasty_a to_o receive_v a_o opinion_n before_o we_o have_v weigh_v the_o same_o by_o the_o law_n and_o testimony_n see_v there_o be_v many_o false_a spirit_n go_v out_o into_o the_o world_n answ_n that_o there_o be_v many_o false_a spirit_n go_v out_o into_o the_o world_n i_o grant_v and_o that_o be_v a_o false_a babilonish_a spirit_n that_o contradict_v itself_o as_o the_o spirit_n of_o j.n._n have_v do_v as_o before_o show_v and_o that_o be_v the_o true_a spirit_n of_o grace_n which_o teach_v to_o live_v godlike_a in_o this_o present_a world_n but_o that_o which_o lead_v into_o confusion_n be_v not_o godlike_a but_o such_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o j.n._n therefore_o not_o to_o be_v receive_v and_o that_o all_o opinion_n and_o spirit_n be_v to_o be_v try_v by_o the_o law_n and_o testimony_n i_o own_o but_o what_o be_v this_o law_n and_o testimony_n be_v it_o not_o the_o light_n and_o spirit_n in_o the_o inward_a part_n for_o solomon_n say_v the_o law_n be_v light_a and_o the_o angel_n say_v the_o testimony_n of_o jesus_n be_v the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n pro._n 6.23_o rev._n 19.11_o so_o here_o be_v the_o law_n and_o testimony_n declare_v which_o i_o dare_v say_v j.n._n never_o intend_v to_o direct_v people_n to_o as_o a_o touchstone_n to_o try_v opinion_n by_o as_o he_o call_v they_o and_o be_v not_o this_o light_n the_o law_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o liberty_n the_o law_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o light_n thereof_o in_o the_o inward_a part_n for_o this_o be_v that_o perfect_a rule_n that_o lead_v in_o the_o way_n in_o which_o a_o wayfaring-man_n though_o a_o fool_n can_v err_v and_o without_o this_o there_o be_v none_o able_a to_o understand_v the_o scripture_n nor_o to_o practice_v they_o because_o of_o ourselves_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o yet_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o have_v our_o doctrine_n principle_n and_o practice_n try_v by_o the_o scripture_n of_o truth_n but_o than_o say_v j.n._n the_o most_o dangerous_a spirit_n be_v this_o that_o draw_v all_o the_o happiness_n of_o this_o life_n and_o that_o which_o be_v to_o come_v into_o man_n and_o finish_v all_o the_o glory_n of_o man_n at_o the_o brink_n of_o the_o grave_a answ_n if_o by_o the_o glory_n of_o man_n he_o mean_v the_o glory_n of_o man_n as_o simple_o a_o creature_n then_o i_o do_v say_v all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v finish_v at_o the_o brink_n of_o the_o grave_a for_o it_o be_v but_o the_o glory_n of_o flesh_n which_o as_o the_o flower_n of_o the_o grass_n pass_v away_o but_o if_o by_o the_o glory_n of_o man_n he_o mean_v that_o which_o the_o wise_a in_o heart_n shall_v inherit_v prov._n 3.35_o and_o which_o be_v the_o reward_n of_o those_o before_o who_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n go_v then_o i_o know_v none_o except_o atheist_n and_o ranter_n that_o affirm_v or_o assert_v any_o such_o thing_n and_o i_o say_v also_o that_o be_v the_o most_o dangerous_a spirit_n of_o all_o and_o to_o be_v shun_v by_o all_o but_o that_o spirit_n which_o will_v keep_v people_n out_o of_o a_o expectation_n of_o see_v and_o behold_v that_o glory_n that_o be_v endless_a while_o on_o this_o side_n the_o grave_a be_v not_o much_o inferior_a as_o to_o the_o ill-consequence_n of_o it_o to_o the_o other_o for_o that_o will_v deprive_v people_n of_o the_o chief_a happiness_n of_o this_o life_n and_o of_o the_o happy_a enjoyment_n of_o that_o glory_n which_o their_o peace_n and_o joy_n be_v full_a of_o in_o believe_v while_o they_o remain_v on_o this_o side_n the_o grave_a and_o may_v also_o endanger_v to_o deprive_v they_o of_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o that_o which_o be_v to_o be_v receive_v in_o the_o life_n that_o be_v to_o come_v for_o if_o the_o earnest_a of_o the_o incorruptible_a inheritance_n which_o be_v a_o part_n thereof_o be_v not_o receive_v in_o this_o life_n what_o true_a comfort_n can_v there_o be_v enjoy_v in_o this_o life_n so_o then_o that_o spirit_n of_o grace_n or_o word_n of_o grace_n which_o manifest_v its_o light_n and_o strength_n in_o the_o inward_a part_n by_o its_o own_o operation_n for_o the_o beget_n of_o faith_n in_o and_o concern_v itself_o in_o all_o that_o hear_v and_o receive_v it_o this_o i_o say_v be_v not_o to_o be_v shun_v but_o adhere_v unto_o by_o all_o as_o unto_o the_o author_n of_o true_a faith_n see_v faith_n come_v by_o hear_v and_o hear_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o word_n be_v nigh_o thou_o in_o thy_o heart_n and_o in_o thy_o mouth_n rom._n 10.17_o and_o the_o spirit_n be_v in_o the_o inward_a part_n which_o with_o the_o word_n be_v one_o by_o which_o faith_n be_v give_v and_o all_o that_o hear_v this_o word_n and_o obey_v this_o spirit_n of_o faith_n shall_v doubtless_o behold_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o word_n as_o the_o apostle_n do_v even_o as_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o only_o beget_v of_o the_o father_n full_a of_o grace_n and_o truth_n and_o shall_v doubtless_o know_v that_o faith_n in_o which_o be_v peace_n and_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o full_a perfect_a rule_n and_o the_o sad_a consequence_n which_o he_o say_v will_v follow_v the_o deny_v of_o they_o so_o to_o be_v and_o concern_v christ_n be_v the_o word_n real_o so_o and_o as_o he_o say_v but_o comparative_o so_o and_o concern_v christ_n be_v a_o saviour_n as_o he_o be_v god_n or_o a_o saviour_n only_o as_o he_o have_v a_o body_n of_o flesh_n and_o concern_v his_o be_v in_o heaven_n with_o the_o father_n at_o his_o right-hand_n and_o his_o be_v in_o man_n real_o so_o i_o say_v have_v go_v through_o with_o these_o thing_n and_o speak_v as_o to_o they_o i_o shall_v leave_v they_o to_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o judicious_a reader_n desire_v of_o god_n by_o his_o own_o spirit_n to_o give_v a_o right_a understanding_n unto_o all_o that_o desire_v after_o he_o that_o they_o may_v know_v he_o that_o be_v true_a to_o be_v manifest_v in_o they_o that_o they_o may_v by_o his_o spirit_n be_v baptize_v into_o he_o to_o live_v and_o have_v their_o be_v in_o he_o that_o so_o they_o may_v understand_v the_o thing_n that_o appertain_v to_o his_o kingdom_n and_o to_o their_o own_o everlasting_a peace_n that_o in_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o unchangeable_a truth_n they_o may_v stand_v as_o mount_n zion_n that_o can_v be_v move_v and_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o book_n consist_v of_o a_o large_a pretend_a answer_n to_o six_o query_n that_o be_v send_v to_o he_o by_o a_o certain_a person_n who_o i_o do_v not_o well_o know_v i_o shall_v not_o much_o concern_v myself_o therein_o at_o this_o time_n though_o i_o do_v acknowledge_v that_o divers_a thing_n therein_o contain_v do_v concern_v the_o truth_n which_o i_o profess_v and_o therein_o i_o be_o concern_v but_o it_o consist_v chief_o of_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v already_o speak_v to_o so_o that_o what_o i_o have_v write_v may_v serve_v for_o a_o answer_n to_o all_o for_o it_o will_v be_v superfluous_a to_o reiterate_v that_o which_o in_o substance_n i_o have_v already_o go_v over_o j._n c._n a_o testimony_n concern_v lodowick_n muggleton_n for_o as_o much_o as_o i_o have_v be_v inform_v that_o lodowick_n muggleton_n have_v vaunt_a concern_v my_o departure_n out_o of_o the_o body_n because_o of_o his_o pretend_a sentence_n of_o damnation_n give_v against_o i_o i_o be_o move_v to_o leave_v this_o testimony_n concern_v he_o behind_o i_o viz._n that_o he_o be_v a_o son_n of_o darkness_n
