you_o to_o keep_v it_o with_o all_o care_n and_o vigilancy_n but_o you_o will_v be_v able_a by_o no_o mean_n better_a to_o preserve_v it_o then_o by_o a_o silent_a true_a and_o profound_a humility_n you_o dear_a son_n these_o be_v strange_a and_o rare_a matter_n which_o you_o have_v tell_v i_o layman_n very_o i_o do_v enough_o fear_n mr._n doctor_n that_o i_o have_v tell_v you_o more_o than_o be_v fit_a for_o i_o to_o tell_v you_o and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n i_o do_v perceive_v that_o i_o have_v speak_v somewhat_o that_o do_v something_o trouble_v you_o and_o go_v against_o your_o stomach_n for_o whereas_o i_o be_o but_o a_o layman_n and_o illiterate_a but_o you_o a_o great_a dr._n of_o sacred_a divinity_n nevertheless_o i_o have_v take_v upon_o i_o by_o way_n of_o tutor_n and_o teach_v to_o tell_v you_o so_o many_o thing_n it_o can_v be_v but_o this_o must_v somewhat_o offend_v you_o doctor_n son_n if_o you_o will_v not_o take_v it_o ill_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o what_o do_v displease_v i_o layman_n assure_o i_o will_v not_o take_v it_o ill_o you_o may_v speak_v all_o your_o mind_n free_o doctor_n dear_a son_n i_o can_v away_o with_o this_o but_o do_v what_o there_o have_v not_o be_v so_o much_o need_n to_o speak_v the_o naked_a truth_n simple_o and_o serious_o as_o now_o in_o these_o our_o day_n wherefore_o be_v not_o at_o all_o move_v with_o whatever_o can_v happen_v for_o if_o you_o be_v not_o suffer_v to_o abide_v here_o you_o may_v be_v some_o where_o else_o and_o wheresoever_o you_o be_v god_n will_v in_o no_o wise_n forsake_v you_o the_o and_o peradventure_o do_v never_o so_o grievous_o offend_v god_n as_o thou_o have_v do_v hereupon_o i_o have_v a_o great_a mind_n to_o imitate_v each_o of_o these_o saint_n in_o something_o or_o other_o with_o as_o severe_a and_o rigorous_a exercise_n whereby_o in_o a_o little_a time_n i_o contract_v such_o exceed_a weakness_n that_o i_o be_v even_o at_o the_o point_n of_o death_n but_o one_o day_n above_o the_o rest_n it_o happen_v that_o about_o sunrising_n have_v beyond_o measure_n continue_v my_o exercise_n that_o through_o exceed_a weakness_n and_o weariness_n even_o whilst_o i_o be_v at_o my_o exercise_n i_o fall_v fast_o asleep_a my_o thought_n in_o my_o sleep_n i_o hear_v a_o kind_n of_o voice_n say_v to_o i_o go_v to_o self-willed_a man_n if_o you_o kill_v yourself_o before_o your_o time_n you_o shall_v certain_o suffer_v for_o it_o most_o grievous_a punishment_n but_o if_o thou_o will_v suffer_v thyself_o to_o be_v exercise_v by_o god_n he_o will_v do_v it_o infinite_o better_a than_o thou_o thyself_o can_v do_v by_o the_o counsel_n of_o the_o devil_n at_o these_o word_n especial_o at_o the_o name_n of_o the_o devil_n such_o a_o fear_n &_o terror_n seize_v one_o i_o have_v read_v over_o the_o live_v of_o the_o saint_n and_o how_o i_o have_v a_o great_a mind_n to_o imitate_v they_o then_o he_o ask_v i_o by_o who_o advice_n do_v i_o do_v thus_o i_o confess_v to_o he_o that_o that_o which_o i_o have_v do_v i_o have_v do_v by_o no_o man_n advice_n but_o my_o own_o and_o out_o of_o my_o own_o will_n if_o so_o say_v he_o then_o take_v it_o for_o certain_a it_o be_v the_o devil_n counsel_n and_o therefore_o you_o have_v need_v to_o take_v great_a heed_n that_o you_o follow_v he_o no_o more_o but_o resign_v and_o give_v up_o yourself_o whole_o to_o god_n and_o he_o will_v exercise_v you_o far_o better_o than_o either_o you_o or_o the_o devil_n can_v therefore_o according_a to_o this_o old_a man_n advice_n i_o instant_o give_v over_o my_o exercise_n and_o do_v with_o all_o my_o heart_n give_v up_o myself_o whole_o to_o god_n and_o leave_v myself_o in_o his_o hand_n to_o exercise_v i_o as_o he_o think_v most_o fit_a true_o mr._n doctor_n i_o be_v by_o nature_n of_o a_o ingenuous_a temper_n and_o of_o a_o excellent_a complexion_n and_o of_o a_o subtle_a wit_n even_o as_o i_o perceive_v you_o be_v only_o in_o this_o i_o be_v short_a of_o you_o that_o i_o have_v not_o study_v the_o scripture_n nor_o skill_v they_o which_o i_o perceive_v you_o do_v yet_o notwithstanding_o i_o be_v natural_o incline_v with_o so_o subtle_a and_o sublime_a a_o understanding_n that_o as_o oft_o as_o i_o think_v fit_a to_o make_v use_n of_o it_o i_o find_v myself_o capable_a and_o apprehensive_a of_o very_o great_a and_o high_a matter_n hereby_o once_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o subtlety_n of_o my_o understanding_n i_o begin_v to_o think_v thus_o with_o myself_o certain_o thou_o be_v natural_o endue_v with_o so_o happy_a a_o wit_n &_o tower_a understanding_n that_o without_o all_o doubt_n if_o thou_o will_v serious_o &_o intense_o make_v use_n of_o it_o thou_o will_v be_v apprehensive_a of_o some_o extraordinary_a &_o divine_a matter_n concern_v even_o god_n himself_o which_o thought_n immediate_o after_o their_o suggestion_n i_o perceive_v to_o be_v the_o fallacious_a counsel_n and_o pestilent_a advice_n and_o suggestion_n of_o the_o devil_n thereupon_o i_o brokeout_o into_o these_o word_n o_o mischievous_a and_o malignant_a connsellour_n what_o advice_n be_v this_o that_o thou_o have_v suggest_v to_o i_o very_o if_o we_o have_v such_o a_o god_n as_o can_v be_v apprehend_v by_o reason_n i_o shall_v not_o value_v he_o thus_o much_o after_o this_o one_o morning_n when_o i_o be_v ready_a to_o read_v morning_n prayer_n i_o have_v a_o exceed_a vehement_a desire_n insomuch_o that_o i_o break_v forth_o in_o these_o word_n and_o say_v to_o the_o lord_n o_o most_o merciful_a god_n if_o it_o be_v thy_o bless_a will_n make_v i_o now_o by_o experience_n to_o feel_v something_o that_o may_v transcend_v and_o pass_v all_o understanding_n and_o reason_n but_o i_o have_v no_o soon_o end_v these_o word_n but_o that_o a_o vehement_a horror_n possess_v i_o because_o that_o i_o shall_v dare_v to_o desire_v so_o great_a a_o favour_n and_o therefore_o again_o say_v unto_o the_o lord_n ah_o eternal_a and_o ever_o to_o be_v adore_v majesty_n pardon_v i_o beseech_v thou_o this_o my_o rashness_n for_o it_o exceed_o repent_v i_o to_o have_v do_v this_o and_o how_o shall_v it_o be_v o_o lord_n that_o so_o miserable_a a_o earthworm_n as_o i_o be_o and_o no_o man_n shall_v ever_o find_v such_o a_o thing_n to_o enter_v into_o his_o heart_n as_o to_o dare_v to_o desire_v so_o transcendent_a and_o excel_a favour_n and_o grace_n when_o as_o i_o know_v sufficient_o and_o be_o convince_v within_o myself_o how_o vile_a i_o be_o to_o how_o many_o sin_n i_o be_o prone_a and_o how_o that_o through_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o my_o life_n i_o never_o as_o i_o ought_v love_v my_o god_n or_o regard_v he_o but_o have_v always_o make_v myself_o by_o reason_n of_o sin_n so_o odious_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o thy_o glory_n that_o i_o know_v very_o well_o that_o i_o be_o unworthy_a that_o the_o earth_n shall_v bear_v i_o and_o therefore_o since_o i_o have_v presume_v to_o suffer_v such_o a_o desire_n of_o so_o transcendent_a grace_n to_o arise_v in_o i_o it_o be_v absolute_o needful_a that_o my_o body_n shall_v undergo_v direful_a and_o suffer_v bitter_a thing_n have_v thus_o say_v i_o stripe_v myself_o neither_o do_v i_o cease_v to_o strike_v myself_o with_o hard_a stripe_n till_o the_o blood_n run_v about_o my_o shoulder_n and_o so_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o while_o i_o be_v revolve_v such_o like_a thought_n in_o my_o heart_n and_o speak_v such_o like_a word_n even_o till_o sunrising_n upon_o a_o sudden_a a_o exceed_a shine_a light_n fill_v my_o whole_a cell_n and_o in_o that_o light_n i_o fall_v into_o a_o ecstasy_n so_o that_o for_o a_o time_n i_o be_v deprive_v both_o of_o my_o reason_n and_o sense_n but_o oh_o that_o hour_n seem_v extreme_o short_a unto_o i_o and_o after_o i_o come_v to_o myself_o i_o find_v so_o exceed_o and_o supernatural_a impression_n pression_n &_o seal_n of_o truth_n upon_o i_o
