why_o he_o agree_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o proposition_n which_o be_v reveal_v in_o it_o alone_o and_o that_o be_v the_o special_a work_n of_o god_n in_o soul_n that_o shall_v be_v save_v of_o in_o the_o world_n or_o if_o man_n think_v that_o they_o do_v true_o believe_v because_o they_o agree_v many_o proposition_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o light_n of_o reason_n they_o again_o deceive_v themselves_o here_o may_v be_v nothing_o of_o the_o operation_n of_o god_n in_o this_o faith_n nay_o if_o they_o agree_v the_o proposition_n of_o the_o gospel_n because_o they_o be_v reveal_v there_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n do_v not_o agree_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o look_v upon_o they_o in_o the_o same_o rank_n with_o human_a write_n or_o only_o by_o a_o human_a say_v agree_v they_o to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n because_o the_o church_n have_v so_o deliver_v and_o transmit_v they_o here_o be_v all_o this_o while_n no_o thing_n of_o the_o special_a operation_n of_o god_n nor_o will_v this_o agreement_n produce_v any_o steadiness_n and_o firmness_n of_o practice_n commensurate_a to_o the_o revelation_n but_o only_o commensurate_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o assent_n which_o be_v not_o fix_v &_o constant_a nor_o it_o may_v be_v not_o universal_a but_o to_o some_o part_n only_o of_o the_o revelation_n must_v necessary_o bring_v forth_o no_o more_o than_o a_o saint_n partial_a and_o incertain_a practice_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o hypocrite_n may_v do_v many_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o law_n and_o at_o one_o time_n be_v more_o warm_a than_o at_o other_o time_n but_o if_o thy_o assent_n be_v the_o special_a operation_n thou_o assente_v to_o the_o whole_a revelation_n because_o god_n have_v fix_v in_o thy_o soul_n a_o persuasion_n that_o it_o be_v from_o he_o who_o can_v lie_v it_o be_v also_o steady_a and_o fix_v and_o though_o some_o doubt_n may_v possible_o encumber_v thou_o sometime_o yet_o they_o hold_v not_o long_o and_o thou_o firm_o and_o general_o with_o allowance_n for_o the_o frailty_n and_o infirmity_n of_o human_a nature_n endeavoure_v to_o live_v up_o to_o the_o whole_a of_o that_o duty_n which_o the_o revelation_n impose_v upon_o thou_o which_o thou_o can_v not_o do_v without_o rely_v on_o christ_n and_o he_o alone_o for_o salvation_n and_o have_v a_o respect_n to_o world_n be_v better_o agree_v than_o it_o yet_o be_v about_o the_o number_n of_o fundamental_a truth_n necessary_a to_o be_v know_v and_o believe_v in_o order_n to_o eternal_a life_n and_o salvation_n beside_o i_o think_v my_o text_n consider_v as_o a_o answer_n to_o the_o precede_a petition_n guide_v i_o to_o another_o thing_n the_o spouse_n request_n be_v to_o be_v instruct_v how_o she_o may_v enjoy_v a_o full_a and_o free_a communion_n with_o her_o lord_n especial_o in_o a_o time_n of_o trial_n and_o distress_n with_o reference_n to_o this_o petition_n her_o lord_n answer_v she_o if_o thou_o know_v not_o suppose_v she_o may_v as_o to_o this_o at_o some_o time_n be_v ignorant_a and_o at_o a_o loss_n the_o proposition_n be_v plain_a prop._n that_o even_o the_o best_a of_o god_n people_n the_o fair_a among_o woman_n may_v sometime_o be_v at_o a_o great_a loss_n where_o and_o how_o to_o maintain_v their_o desire_a communion_n with_o christ_n i_o shall_v open_v the_o proposition_n in_o three_o conclusion_n then_o confirm_v and_o apply_v it_o 1._o the_o soul_n communion_n with_o christ_n lie_v in_o their_o reciprocal_a communication_n of_o themselves_o each_o to_o a_o more_o external_a communion_n with_o god_n but_o separate_v from_o this_o it_o signify_v nothing_o to_o the_o soul_n advantage_n so_o we_o be_v say_v to_o have_v communion_n with_o god_n in_o read_v and_o hear_v his_o word_n pray_v receive_v the_o sacrament_n the_o soul_n have_v in_o these_o no_o further_a fellowship_n &_o communion_n with_o god_n than_o it_o in_o they_o exercise_v these_o more_o inward_a power_n in_o more_o external_a act_n by_o the_o advantage_n of_o the_o bodily_a member_n so_o far_o as_o it_o pour_v out_o itself_o to_o god_n in_o prayer_n by_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lip_n or_o open_v its_o heart_n to_o god_n in_o hear_v the_o word_n receive_v it_o with_o faith_n and_o love_n and_o meekness_n etc._n etc._n so_o far_o and_o no_o further_o have_v the_o soul_n in_o these_o duty_n any_o communion_n with_o god_n nor_o do_v god_n communicate_v himself_o to_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v not_o make_v to_o believe_v and_o obey_v what_o it_o hear_v further_a than_o to_o let_v it_o know_v his_o will_n with_o the_o advantage_n of_o such_o argument_n as_o his_o minister_n be_v enable_v to_o use_v by_o virtue_n of_o those_o gift_n which_o he_o have_v give_v they_o to_o fit_v they_o for_o their_o ministration_n 2._o there_o can_v be_v no_o union_n between_o christ_n and_o that_o soul_n with_o who_o christ_n have_v not_o a_o constant_a communion_n communion_n goodness_n to_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o soul_n communication_n of_o itself_o by_o faith_n to_o he_o thus_o the_o union_n be_v first_o make_v between_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n thus_o it_o be_v and_o must_v be_v maintain_v and_o uphold_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o say_v the_o soul_n once_o in_o a_o state_n of_o grace_n can_v fall_v from_o it_o either_o final_o or_o total_o be_v not_o from_o the_o ability_n and_o certainty_n of_o their_o own_o will_n however_o renew_v and_o sanctify_a but_o from_o the_o more_o constant_a and_o certain_a influence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n which_o be_v give_v to_o the_o soul_n dwell_v in_o it_o and_o work_v in_o it_o christ_n have_v not_o only_o promise_v to_o come_v to_o they_o that_o love_v he_o and_o keep_v his_o commandment_n but_o to_o make_v
